- the cons: ML was a jerk in the first bit of the novel, but not in a stereotypical ML way. Rather, he was like an obnoxious teenage boy pulling pigtails. Admittedly in RL not something I would stand for, but in novels it’s acceptable. And really, who would take most MLs on in real life?
- author had no idea about photography or the entertainment circle. Neither do I, but it was still pretty obvious.
- the family drama got old. It was interesting at first, but just kept circling back to them and inventing new crimes or rehashing old ones.
- MC was supposedly in his 30s when he was reborn, and for the most part he does act more mature than ML who is like 22, but still childish at times.
the pros:- ML improves drastically around chapter 30ish, when he realizes he actually likes the MC. He turns from an obnoxious jerk into a soft boy. He is still immature, and doesn’t always listen to what MC tells him, which causes fights, but they sort it out and honestly that makes it more realistic.
- the side characters are great! They aren’t hugely fleshed out, but they are memorable, AND there are SO MANY good female characters! The only truly horrible females characters are the ML’s family, which is AWESOME in a BL novel!
- no side CP, which is a plus for me. Sometimes side CPs wind up being more interesting than the main CP which suck, but this has a two sentence implication in the last ten chapters that maybe two of the other characters could have something going on, and one of MC’s roommates has a girlfriend that we barely see.
- MC doesn’t use his future knowledge to cheat-other than trying to keep ML safe, which at first is more pity for a guy that you saw die. Doesn’t try and win the lottery, doesn’t try and invest in companies he knows will make it big, just honestly works with his new/better photography skills and takes what comes his way.
- MC is very strong in his opinions and sense of self, and definitely feels like he is the one in charge of the relationship—no feminine MC here! No ‘wife’ either—just a couple jokes about the boss and the boss lady, which were jokes and not meant to be serious. Sometimes MC being the wife is fine, but it would have felt out of place here, and I’m glad it didn’t happen.
this was definitely a novel where I feel the couple could have very well been switches or where the MC could have been gong, but that’s something I almost never see so it’s whatever. as far as translations go, the first chapters before flying lines were great, and the first bit on flying lines was okay. Then it swapped translators and the translation was still alright, but tenses change... more>>
