This story is real good. Short and sweet read. The smut is good, even abit rough. ^^ Why I did not give 5 stars is because

RZ was train as a hard boil tough next in line gang leader (and because of his sweet delicate look his father train him more harshly.) But when he with LY he become soft and delicate (can't even hold his liquor) I find it abit ooc. But maybe because he mainly uses his brain rather his brawn (and in love) makes him like that? Lol maybe I think too much.

It's a very recommended read. Just enjoyed the mystery and fluff. Tq <<less

I love this!!!

Although it’s a short and quick story, the flow of the story is well thought-out. The characters are lovable especially ML!! He’s so cute!

The smut is very engaging and leaves you without any details. And the angst is just my taste!

I dislike the MC at first but he grew likeable gradually.

Overall, this is definitely worth reading if you’re looking for a short smut novel with a fluffy happy ending.

Such a good smut read with fun plot that keeps you engaged. It's pretty easy to guess early on the twist, but it is still interesting seeing how the author ends up explaining it. I didn't like the main character at first, but he grew on me as his character developed.

Overall, short, sweet, satisfyingly romantic read.

I love this novel.

BUT

Spoiler

There are some unclear parts. For example, what happened when Ruan was seemingly 'locked in, ' tortured, in chains and looked sick? How could he communicate with his assistant when he was in Luo Yu's house? Why did Ruan looked scared when he was returned back in that one outing? What was those marks that were all over his body in the last meeting? It can't be said that it was the student that acted all that.

[collapse]

Honestly confusing. But a good read anyways.

Very nice short stories for mature audience. The fluff is not for the romance seeker, but I love the plot twist here. This story is about our MC (gong), a typical boss who deal with underworld business too, a typical man who only believe in s*x and never trust a person, finally learn how to love in a twisted wicked way.

Worth to read!

Short and enjoyable. Fast paced. Imagine Mr n Mrs Smith bl version. Story told from gong's POV. Gong's treatment of shou was s*um at the beginning. Shou was passively accomodating to him and eventually was able to crack the impenetrable gong. Would recommend it to anyone who wanted some mafia bl story.

This was a good read and a good plot but there are some doubts I have which has never been cleared..

Spoiler

Was the bruises and implication that Ruan Zheng was f*cked by Jian Qi fake? Did he self inflict it? Or were they the marks of the actual Jiawen? Was he acting depressed?

The novel is short and initially I was worried there would not be enough character development but since the narrative stays focussed mostly on the two main characters throughout, it was really well done. Their relationship and how it progressed was believable and natural enough given the circumstances. I came into this novel looking for a quick read about crime, cover identity and action, and I was not disappointed in that regards. But what I did not expect was to grow so attached to Ruan Zheng as I continued especially... more>> near the end in the two extra chapters.

Spoiler

Luo Yu lowered his head to press a chaste kiss onto Ruan Zheng’s lips. He told him, “I wished that you could love me a bit less.”

He clasped the hand grabbing Ruan Zheng’s hand against his own chest. “That you could love yourself a bit more.”

Ruan Zheng didn’t say anything else. It seemed that he was about to cry, but Luo Yu knew that Ruan Zheng wasn’t the type to cry.

“Can you?” Luo Yu asked Ruan Zheng.

Ruan Zheng gazed at him levelly. A long time passed before he finally told Luo Yu, “Not anymore.”

These lines in the last extra just hammered home the reason why I liked Ruan Zheng so much and why I felt the sense of dread inside me whenever he showed up. It does an excellent job summing up his overall detachment from emotions besides the one singular nearly obsessive love for Luo Yu.

[collapse]

All in all, a short good read and the last two extras are so crucial in having that gut-wrenching reading experience. It is a happy ending but feels bittersweet and I have honestly become so emotionally attached to Ruan Zheng as a character. He's a sweet mu*der-baby and I love him so much! Please definitely give this a read! <<less

I've been debating between 4 and 5 stars, but picked 4 because I think there are some things that are not confirmed and I wish they were. You can deduce what's more likely but confirmation would have been good.

Spoiler

The Whole Jiang Qi arc! Was that to test Luo Yu's feelings? Did Su Jiawen believed Luo Yu would ever buy him back? Did he gave himself bruises and chain marks around his neck on purpose? Was his depressed mood genuine? I understand that 99% it was a test that Luo Yu failed miserably, especially since in the end Su Jiawen is not able to love Luo Yu more than the bare minimum -I mean, he did sell him for some info and money after all... Still, I would have love to know more about the plan Su Jiawen and Jiang Qi came up with.

[collapse]

As many said the plot twist is... not even a plot twist, you know what's going on and that's the beauty of it.

Spoiler

When Jiang Qi was like "Yeah my boss is busy being in a new relationship" I laughed so hard. It would have been better only if Su Jiawen was there too.

[collapse]

I do appreciate characters that can manipulate each other, so I was very very satisfied by the story. Luo Yu falling in love slowly

and paying the price for his stubborn price

was a delight to read.

But let me say one thing: Jiang Qi is not paid enough to deal with all this crap. Give that man a raise! <<less

Even without explicit smut, this was good. It starts with the big boss falling for the twink he rescued trope.

But suddenly twists kept twisting haha surprise surprise.

It’s a love story afterall.

Never give up on someone you want, pursue no matter, get a new persona, pretend, lie. God knows how hard it is to find someone who stirs your heart it drives you insane.

Gong was tsundere, became bravely devoted. Shou, who was soft, was actually hard and been pining for years. ??
Spoiler

I hoped there was clarification about the body marks on Su’s body. Or was it implied that it was one of his doubles?

Its barely any plot, but I liked how it flowed. "Not anymore, " hit really hard at the end, and, I dunno, it's one of those stories that you can't help but binge-read.

I loved every ounce of this. The moral ambiguity, the deceptions, the odd rivalry, the affection, the manipulations--all of it I loved. I don't mind admitting that it took me a time or two of reading this to get a crystal clear picture of what was really happening. It's a brilliant piece if you never forget that everyone is twisted and tainted in this. It turns sweet near the end.

I like quick novels with this kind of plot. Makes me wish there were more with better details. Plus points that MC is the gong.

Rating lost one star coz there were some info I'd like to know esp

Spoiler

ML's plans, why did he pretend to be Jiang Qi's pet? To get the sympathy of MC? Is it to test MC? Also, I'd like to know how they did that lol it's funny to think Jiang Qi complaning about his boss' plans

Wavered between 4 and 5 stars just because the moral ambiguity made some of the reading uncomfortable. This was a very engaging novel; for being such a short story, it packed a lot in. I became invested in these characters, which is a credit to the writing. Spicy scenes were quite explicit. Not your usual romance story.

Throughout the whole story, I was compelling myself to finish it all and not drop it because its short. What RZ did to LY, I am not very fond of it. I once read a phrase, "I want him/her to know I really love him through loving him with my actions and not through hurting him." Thats the gist of it. But I did felt touched with some chapters like the last words LY and RZ said in the extra.

This story so good. I love the part when the MC dreamed and the fireworks at the end ugh huhu I'm cryinggg. At that part you can really see the MC's love for the ML. But stillll the ML is the besttt. I want to hug him sooo much. He deserves all the best things in the world.

this isn't my first time reading a novel, but this one is definitely an interesting read.

throughout the entire novel I kept having mixed feelings about MC and ML cause let's be honest, this isn't your typical rivalry to lover cliche, the plot is unique with certain (un) expected things, after all one thing is to be kept in mind while reading the whole thing; "appearances can be deceptive".

the dynamic between ML and MC is an interesting point to note, both the characters are twisted in their own way taking into... more>> account the numerous morally ambiguous things they've done. Despite all this, one can be content with the strange way their relationship progresses; when we reach its finality no strings are left lose. The ending is subtle, and I personally feel the right way to end this kind of a novel.

i really enjoyed reading this and for those who prefer something out of the normal ordinary cliche, this is highly recommended. <<less
