Claude stared silently at the sleeping Canillian. His gold lashes created a soft shadow on a white face. No matter how much he despised outdoor activities, he was still too white and thin. No trace of puberty was evident on him, and above all, his scent was different from the usual smell of men’s sweat. Was it the scent of lavender blooming all over the Marquis’s work or the scent of poppies blooming in the river?

Canillian’s soft cheeks brushed the tip of his nose, and instinctively, he bowed his head as if to savor the scent more. Canillian’s shallow breaths tickled his temple. His pulse began to race. Claude leaned further without thought. He wanted to enjoy it more. No, he really wanted to taste it. He was curious about what he’d taste if his tongue were to graze his skin.

I must be crazy… or going crazy, he thought. Claude sighed. He stared at Canillian once more, and heat started to invade his entire body, captivated by Canillian’s lips which looked like it was glazed with honey.

Perhaps it was the hot atmosphere that caused such reaction from him, he reasoned out. If not, by no means… he wouldn’t have thought of wanting to kiss this guy.

FL was kidnapped from her home and forced to act as a second son of the house.

Her brother is okay but the ML is an arrogant a**hole. She hates being around him but he will not leave her alone. She is surrounded by people who constantly ignore her and what she wants.

One of those stories where I am desperately wishing for no romance, as she should have nothing to do with any of the a**holes around her in nobility.

Honestly, while the novel is quite good I just can't like Camellia. Having been forced to dress like a man for years, being ab*sed by her stepmother etc should have made her resentful towards her family but instead she became one of the worst doormat FLs. She never gets angry at anyone, lets everything happen to her, from insults to s*xual assaults and forgives absolutely everything.

The novel would have been far more enjoyable if she had a spine.

No, let me correct myself. The entire House Bale is spineless and... more>> doormats, the brother and father are ruled by the stepmother and even if it seems like they are saying something to make her stop, they never take action and just let her ab*se Camellia further.

Whoever says the characters are the best in the novel should reevaluate their opinion, imo. <<less

i started by reading the manga but I truly loved the novel too!

ML is too bloody possessive (typical ML) but I love how he tries to fight his impulse wanting to keep Camellia in a gilded cage and lets her spread her wings freely to discover herself.

not much to say but this is one of my faves and I really dont like reading someone pretending to be the other gender, but the reason was legit and appropriate so I still read it

So the story goes like this: FL pretended to be a boy. And the reason is somehow not solid. Actually she didn't pretend to be a boy, rather she wears boy clothes and short hair. She didn't even seem boyish. The only thing she did that seems like a man is when she dresses as girl (for reason of a spoiler) and sat unlady like. Even that moment is just brief.

FL is weak, not physically, or sickly, just general characteristics. She's too weak to fight her own battles but also... more>> wont asks for help. Although she has moments with the slum people, she sounded more like a hypocrite than just.

While ML is just possessive. It wasnt a good portrayal at all. What irk me how he treated FL before he knew she's a girl. If he really like her as lius, he would be gentle to her. Soft for her. But no, he didn't for the span of half of the story, all reactions from him is all negative and occasional laugh but rare 2x or only once it happened. Comparing it to when after he got know she's a woman, he become gentle. For reason why I like Ian rather than Claude, although Ian knew she's really a girl, at least with him she had a normal convo where she tells him something. They can talk like friends.

That why, im confuse how the fck did FL fell in love with the ml. She clearly likes his face I get that but to say thati*s theyfirst shared this and that. From sorrow, happiness, and sht? She acted ad if she was in deep relationship with the ML that time when in fact they hardly talking. Most of their convo is him asking and her stammering to answer. Argue and walk out. Hurt eo. Her scared at him. Him glaring at her.

Both the father and brother are useless. Failed to protect the people they supposed to protect.

The story is in shambles as soon as I read the reason why she needed to pretend to be a boy. And then I lost hope when brother didnt died. Although I dont wish for the brother to die, then why did she pretend to be a boy if the brother wouldn't die?

And lastly I thought the story is about looking for Camilla (I came from manhwa, so the title was looking for camillia.) That the FL will hide and ML will go look for her. No, it was certainly not, for at least where I stopped reading. <<less
