This is one of the best Chinese novel translations in my opinion. What I love particularly are:

1. Protagonists - both are equally strong and intelligent. The really work well as a team but can perform miracles even when apart.

2. Plot - it is very neatly executed and unfolds with purpose.

... more>> 3. Side characters - unlike other stories, there aren't many cannon fodder characters. Each villain has a clear purpose, motive and plot and the secondary leads and characters are fleshed out well enough to feel like family.

4. Love story - theirs is a slow but steady and solid build. You can really see them falling in love. It makes you cheer for them from the bottom of your heart. <<less

plot and writings fine- decently mediocre as you would expect. But to sum it up it's a "realistic" transmigration novel written by somebody with deep-set misogyny issues as expected since it's from china. The girl's super clingy to the ML she a strong independent woman that need no man except she just so happens to need this one. A lot. Also villains are annoying but tolerable. She also leads on the other mls "unintentionally". The 200s-300s were good, it was very sweet, plot was going, less annoying ppl, but then... more>> the girl starts emulating ML who is cold as*hole extreme (we have no need for another) and starts getting crueler and she's getting really greedy and grasping for power I feel (at owning 1/2 of pill valley) and other mls are just enabling her poison boi is a doormat who is also callous to mu girl. North king dude almost r*ped her, doctor boi is sadly a ML too (where the good bromances dude?) and SAD AND SUFFERING (tm) (best one out of all of em tho). To sum it up everyone's becoming too much of an as*hole for me to enjoy. <<less

This was one of my favourite novels for the engaging, wide-spanning plot. It's more of an adventure novel than a romance novel, in my mind.

A poisons doctor transmigrates into the body of a pitiful poisoned-ugly bride on the day the Emperor has maliciously ordered her to marry the royal Duke of Qin. The story is set in "... the Cloud Realm Continent (which) was vast and filled with powerful hidden tigers and crouching dragons... The heroine has her own secret identity, and her secret secret identity. The hero has... more>> his own top secret identity too...

The story starts with Han Yan Xi fixing her own body (first few chapters), then her new household (first hundred chapters, I think), then moving on to other parts of the country such as Medical City, Poison Sect, Southern Ning, Celestial Mountain, etc. Because of the secret backgrounds later revealed, I anticipate that the plot will move to the entire Cloud Realm continent.

I like the wuxia elements to the story - the secret martial arts, cults, guards, sects; the political elements - the power plots over the throne; and oddly enough, the financial schemes - the dark markets, gun powder, etc.

Of course, the heroine Han Yan Xi has a fantastical poison computer/space system within her, which is her one cheat/power. She is a bit geeky - she likes studying her poisons, and generally doesn't bother other people. She's not the deepest character (for me, that would be Shen Miao from Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage). There are times when she doesn't have much personality, but the plot just rips along, so it's easy to read on. She's neither vengeful nor angry. Unfortunately, because of her position as Qin Wangfei (royal Duke of Qin's wife), she gets into all sorts of hairy situations.

There are many interesting men in the story, several with secret identities, and they help the plot move along at a fast pace. Like most male leads in chinese romances, the Duke of Qin is cold, smart, wealthy and very powerful. He also has several very deep secrets. In the first story arc, he's not even in the picture - which gives the heroine a lot of space to develop her own role in the new household and organize things her way. The Duke of Qin and Han Yan Xi's relationship develops slowly over the novel.

This is not a sweet, fluffy romance. The Duke of Qin is busy with his schemes and secret martial arts doings and had the marriage forced on him. Although the Duke of Qin ignores the heroine in the beginning, her adventures and personality start to win him over. He's not there a lot of the time because he's busy doing his top secret stuff, so there are times when the heroine suffers, especially in the beginning when she's hardly on his radar. The first 200 chapters, he basically leaves her alone to fend for herself, and she goes through several trials without his help. In her mind,

Like many other stories, most of the other female characters are jealous, beautiful, vengeful types from powerful families who act like complete brats. This is is also one of the best English translations I've ever seen for a Chinese novel. The original translation is on the Volare Novels website. I've read 722 of 1370 chapters. About 5 chapters are released every single week, - entire, long chapters. The plot doesn't lag at all, it moves along at a fast pace, and the story has long complex arcs. Right now the latest translation is at chapter 722, the leads are at Celestial Sword Mountain Sect, and they are on a new story arc...

So read it for the adventure - modern day poison expert transmigrates into a world of martial arts, kings and mysterious societies, saves the day with her poison skills, and eventually wins over her indifferent prince.

Update: I enjoyed the drama (Legend of Yun Xi) and it's two short bonus epilogues (available on youtube) that explain the happy ending, but although the drama was charming and good, it's quite different from the novel. The drama is limited in its ability to showcase the vast geography/cast/plots that are in the book. So the book is still an excellent read (if I skip over the jealous side character female paragraph descriptions) as it includes more characters, such as the Celestial Sword Mountain Sect, Cloud Trade Consortium, West Qin, East Qin, Nether Clan, Di Clan, Medicine Hut, Pill King, Chu Clan, etc. <<less

If you like to read a novel where the main character is constantly tortured, suffered, and schemed by ridiculously powerful villains, this novel is for you. Almost everyone in the novel hates her.

This may seem pretty typical in historical Chinese novels, however, our MC is a knowledgeable and skilled doctor in poison that transmigrate to the past. Except, the MC may use her skills to get back at these villains, only to heal them back again (like really?).

If you're a masochist, you will certainly enjoy this novel.

The MC is often bullied by her mother in law without much revenge or retaliation. The ML indiffrent attitude is not what I would call a perfect couple. Every time the MC gets introuble she rely on the ML its ok in the beggining but once that drags out it starts to become annoying.

Just started reading, but I'm hooked already!

Even though the female lead is stuck in a highly unfavourable situation, she bargains her way through! She's unyielding, fiercly independent, and optimistic--you won't be frustrated with her because she takes matters into her own hands. There seems to be a reason for her transmigration, because her skills as a genius doctor/poison expert is continuously put to use. The translation is also superb! Anyone who likes the novel (GDBBM) 'Genius Doctor: Black Belly Miss' would like this too for the medical element. The story is a bit more lighthearted than GDBBM. The clever protagonist twists the schemes of others so she's the one with the last laugh. There's some comedy to it and although some scenes seem a tad bit cliche and forced its not bad at all because the author still balances it out with elements of surprise--the story just sucks you in!

See, a lot of people here have read less than 100 chapters and given bad reviews. This novel has 1370 chapters guys.. And it's also a slow romance but honestly it has one of, if not, the best ML and MC out of all the other CN I've read. And believe me, I've read PLENTY.

Han Yunxi is a free and independent woman, her personality is strong and she is very humanized. she has a normal human heart, it is neither white nor black, she has qualities such as her beauty and her intelligence, she also has her advantages such as her skills with poison and then fighting too. His ability to love is impressive, he is not that man who forces a woman to anything she does not want, he respects and admires her, not to mention that he is very proud to have her as a wife. about jealousy... let's say he's the type who tried to kill all his rivals in love, he's devoid of emotions and a lot of times we think he's a normal man with normal feelings, which is not true. his feelings are all directed towards Han Yunxi and his children, but he even prefers Han Yunxi over his children. His love for her is unparalleled, he may appear cold on the surface but he is a passionate and warm man. Regarding sexuality: This is not an erot*c book but it does have scenes about the two of them becoming one. of course, it takes more than 800 chapters but it's worth it. Long Feye is a man who has put up with it for years, and when he eats he becomes an eating addict. he wants her a lot, and wants her every night basically. he's a brute and wild, she's sweet and shy <<less

I enjoyed reading this story but there is one thing that made it impossible for me to continue: the ML. The MC has better chemistry with almost any other male character in the story, even the villain, compared to the ML. I found myself feeling completely disgusted when the romance started and knew I would not be able to continue reading. The ML brings out only the worst in the MC, and his treatment of her is barely above the bare minimum at best and outright abusive at worst. I was reading this for the strong female lead, not the ML or the romance, and so it was especially infuriating to me that MC became everything I hate the moment the ML entered the picture. I honestly can't understand or relate to her anymore, because the ML is just disgusting to me, and no amount of description of his handsome appearance or domineering personality can make me forget about his abhorrent personality. As far as I have read, I see no substantial reason for the MC to like the ML. To like him romantically, you have to have standarts so low that I would suspect there is a problem. Chapter 294 was just the breaking point for me. I really liked the plots and the other male leads, but I can no longer handle reading about the MC or ML anymore. Thanks to the author and translator anyway for keeping me sane through a stressful exam period. <<less

Its a great story with a lot of depth but the whole contention is contrived drivel that should literally have no effect on the MC at all. This is not a love story at first sight. It's about a love story that is slowly and sensibly.

You need to be patient to find a sweet love story. At the beginning of the story maybe you will hate ML like me, but after 300 chapters you will fall in love with him.

Really Long Feiye is my favorite ML of all the novels I've read.

I love this novel, the characters and the plot. Every character was nicely created, even the antagonist characters were not boring or one dimensional. They have their own reasons to do things along the plot and as a reader, I felt all the causes and effects were naturally flowing throughout the plot.

I can't help myself but love all the second male leads, they were all amazing individual with exceptional talents. Even if the author decide that the female lead end up with one of second male lead or even all of them, I will have no complaints.

The only one that I didn't enjoy was toward the end, the storyline was a bit boring.

The translator and the team are doing fabulous job. The translation quality is great, I could ignore some insignificant errors. The most important is the translator manage to deliver the story's essence in a good way so the reader can immerse into the novel.

Honestly I used MTL to finish the novel because I am too impatient but I re-read the translated chapters for more understanding because MTL confused me at most of the time.

This is one of a very few novels that I would re-read. <<less

Novel description sounded fine, but actual story is shit. MC is supposed to be intelligent though she utterly fails at many steps and accepts it as if its morning breakfast. She just takes whatever is thrown her way like a rag doll and does nothing to help herself. ML is as the story describes an ice block. Does not care, only looks for his benefit and does not show any concern whenever people attempt to drag down MC.

This is my fave novel amongst the ones I'm currently reading. A smart, intelligent MC and an equally intelligent ML, their journey towards their goal, the plots and the counters make it an interesting read. The story starts off at a slow pace, but it builds up and keeps you on tenterhooks for the next chapter. The ML comes across as a frozen ice cube early on, but he makes up and does more once he melts. There are interesting supporting characters as well as the spate of annoying flies,... more>> but the leads have no interest in anyone except for each other. Their committed relationship makes it worth reading despite the slow romance. You need to pay attention while reading, lest you miss out on important clues and secrets as well as suspense keeps you guessing till it is revealed. <<less

This propably my fav webnovel this far. The plot, the character development, a rational slow pace love are the attracted point to consider if you like those kind of smart FM who is kind, mature and witty.

My suggestion to anyone who want to read, be patient! First 300 chapter is 1 batch of roller coaster mood. Really really I've tried. This is the third time (read from the beginning) and this is the furthest (c 149) I can tolerate.

It's so darn irritating, seriously I'm like enduring the rage to pulling my hair off from reading (lol). First of all the FL is nothing really special, just a person with a toxin/poison system attached, without that she is basically useless. To me she has not much self esteem, hardly stand up for herself and kinda just let be pushed around.

Secondly, the plots are pretty much nothing other... more>> than being dragged to be longer than it should be, it doesn't have much suspence or mystery, more like just go with flow (hope this make sense). FL doesn't really shceme nor cunning nor smart enough to reveal certain things (just meh)

Thirdly, most of the female characters are just one dimention mind thingi, envy/jelousy/arogance (take your pick). They are just created for the sake of having more annoying situation to read about.

Forth, well how should I put it... FL doesn't really stands out, nothing to get exited about her. I mean, she's not an expert in medical, no cultivation, no martial art, no hiddent talent (just the system thing), a scaredy cat, doesn't fight for her man or for her rights, almost non at all. Really don't understand why many says she's outstanding??!

There are more but I just end it here, these are my personal thoughts, no need to list all the things I find irritating so and so, in the end it's up to your own judgement whether this WN to your liking or whatnot. This novel is seriously the longest I've ever read!! It already has 612 chapters and I cannot believe it there is still more (not that I'm complaining). What I really like about this book is the female lead is super badass and clever she can save her own ass without dragging the male down, in fact, she's helping the male lead A LOT!! (Honestly, I feel like I've read similar Chinese stories like this numerous times but still love each one just the same <3)

The novel is well written, the story's nice overall, but sometimes it's just sooo tiring! Too much cheap nonsensical drama! MC is basically a neutral party that seems to need to be beaten multiples times by everyone! I can understand jealous antagonists, but why are they so blind all the time? They seems to forget their objectives just to make it harder for the MC!
