This is one of the most well written fan fiction I have ever read.. Just for the story alone it deserves 4/5.. Great character.. Awesome world settings.. Even though there is a hint of Chinese nationalism it can be ignored in the long run.. This story at the end will make you believe that it is not a fan fic.. It's just that the author could easily stretch it if he wanted to but he chose otherwise.

Only thing is armed with is the extreme knowledge of pokemons. And thus begins his journey. There is no romance involved which is a plus for me. It was a fine story, I had fun with the world-building of this story, the concept of the world of pokemon merging with our world and how humans adapted to it was good. To not spoil much I love the parts before the world pokemon championship where the MC tries to leverage what he knows about pokemon from the games in order to gain a better understanding of pokemon in his new reality. No systems, cheats, just some knowledge about pokemon that you get from watching the anime and playing... more>> the games.

Unfortunately, the story tries to up the scale and stakes way too many times that the story and characters start to falter. You know the author ran out of things for the MC to do when he starts to travel to parallel dimensions to gather MacGuffins. But overall the story was still very enjoyable but I would say it peaks during the first World Pokemon Championship. <<less

It came. It saw. It conquered. It came home, drank some beer, and passed out on the couch.

This story feels like it could be its own story with a lot of elements brainstormed by the author and always dreaming of more. The early elements really got me invested with the story constantly ramping up. My gripes though, come from the 'Legendary" elements where the story reaches for the stars. The... more>> problems start when it becomes a true blue fanfiction not apologetic about taking OC elements and beating canon storylines with it. All unapologetically and then it became a race to the finish line as I just wanted the story to be over with.

The story is really good when it wants to be but be cautious that the end is burnout from a binge standpoint. <<less

Interesting setting where a world with wild pokemon is gradually merging with the modern world.

MC is decently intelligent and doesn't make any s*upid decisions for the sake of plot. His pokemon and other characters all have decent personalities too.

Romance: none

Dropped because reading the MTL for pokemon stories sucks - all the names are mistranslated so you need to guess what they are based on the descriptions, which only works if you're familiar with all the pokemon.

An urban Chinese cultivation novel but with Pokemon.

The MC wakes up in a parallel world where secret realms full of Pokemon have integrated with Earth (similar to Dungeon/Portal stories). You have all the common cultivation novel tropes: secret realms, cultivation resources, inheritances, special training areas where half the effort is twice as effective, an arrogant/funny fat friend as comedic relief, school beauties, tournament arcs, school/sect rivalries, etc. The combination of urban cultivation combined with Pokemon leads to things like being given a ranking that determines how many Pokemon you can... more>> own.

The MC's starter is an Eevee and he uses knowledge of moves taught in the anime to train Eevee. It's fun to see Pokemon in a more modern setting, like Eevee playing with a smartphone while the MC is in his University class.

It's an enjoyable fanfiction. My only complaint is that sometimes the story fits into cultivation without explaining why it works that way as if you're just supposed to accept that's why it works. For example:

The MC's Eevee is trained by our MC with meta knowledge and Ash's move Counter Shield that others in the world don't have. The MC's Eevee also learns moves based on emotion/friendship (ex: Return) and gets a unique Destruction gene that originates from Mew. So the MC's Eevee is pretty special. A beautiful young genius professional trainer also has an Eevee of similar age. The both evolved within days of each other and they have a battle. The MC's Espeon uses every move it has against her Sylveon and can't even scratch it because "inheritance". The MC has to forfeit because there is no point in continuing. It's not explained what "inheritance" is exactly, the geniuses of the world are just at a higher power level so the MC (even with his knowledge cheat) gets the be the underdog and have stronger opponents like a cultivation novel.

A soul from earth got transmigrated into the a parallel world (Earth) filled with pokemon. The world builidng is great eg with the school lesson intergrated with the pokemon details and how pokemon come to earth, similar to how dungeon open and stayed open to merge the realm, but with pokemon, which may or may not attack people considering pokemon potrayed as intellegent enough to understand human and even communicate.

our MC has no super power, with only his memory of the game picked Eevee as his starter pokemon and innovative... more>> ways to train and learn moves to get stronger. (Eg, play with sand castle and control sand movement as sand attack) considering that MC still on earth but just with pokemon, he cant use the plot from anime or games to cheat. Though slightly nationalism.

the typical story goes, becoming strong and champion, but with the MC shameless all the way, eg, Eevee acting tired and the MC shouting s*upid move names to trip up their enemy. Whats charming about this novel is that you can see how the pokemon grow and have own characteristic and their interactions. (Eg, Eevee is a phone obessed and love to play games, magnemite that cant fly and accidentally fried eevee phone thus creating trauma for eevee. In much later chapters, to win against physic power, MC shouted that magnemite broke his phone and eevee using rage won)

as with most novel, after completion of championship arc, travel to other parallel world, as MC became somthing like a guardian or hero to save the world.

(even pokemon has own self interest and motive so both MC n pokemon took advantage of each other, particularly funny with how when 1st meeting ho oh, ho oh is majestic and all powerful and MC dare not piss off ho oh too much, after getting rainbow guardian title from ho oh. Resulting in later chapters, using the chance to save some region and train his pokemon, called for ho oh just for healing his pokemon and ho oh acts more like tired and resigned parents. Making ho oh regret giving MC title of rainbow guardian)

1st world is the parallel earth in the future dealing with mewtwo, where 1st peak into the pokemon anime and how the plot progress.

2nd world is actual pokemon world where Ash just starting journey and majority of legendary pokemon pop up and MC will travel back n forth here

3rd world is the past earth where jirachi and hoplop makes appearance and its the short and sweetest with how they interact with jirachi that can only stay awake for 7 days

in summary, more of a sweet slice of life story with papa MC taking care of his pokemon kids and their love life and goal. The no romance part for MC is why push this to a 5 out of 5 stars <<less
