After obtaining the “Craftsman System,” puppet maker Qi Chao transmigrates into a top-tier handsome and wealthy man.

The handsome and wealthy man is rich and powerful, and he looks extremely handsome, he looks like a gentleman on the outside, but he was pe*vert in private.

He harbors fantasies for the one-meter tall, slender and beautiful puppet, Lan Luo, at home!

Qi Chao, who dotes on puppets as if they were his children:

Bah, disgusting! Don’t let me catch you, or I’ll beat you on sight!

From then on, Qi Chao becomes addicted to the joyful life of raising and making puppets every day.

Until one day, he met a puppet maker with fair-skinned, beautiful face, and long-legs.

Not only is the puppet maker beautiful, but he also personally crafted Qi Chao’s beloved puppet, Lan Luo!

Qi Chao: He’s the puppet maker who can create such obedient children like Lan Luo! He must be a gentle and considerate angel!!!

Later on, Qi Chao and his beloved husband opened a puppet shop in Blue Star, which became famous worldwide.

“Puppet Notes” is a horror novel.

The novel is horror throughout, with a mind-bending plot. All the puppets in the book seem delicate, exquisite, and beautiful, but they are actually weapons with great lethality.

The transmigrators finally break through the encirclement of dozens of puppets and escape from the illusion.

The next moment, they unexpectedly saw the cannon fodder rich man who should have been killed by the puppets long ago!

What’s even more surprising is that the demonic puppets chasing them all stop and call the handsome and rich man “dad”!

Each one was obedient!

Even the biggest villain in the book leaned against the handsome and rich man’s chest, his blue eyes were as gentle as water.

Transmigrators: … Don’t ask, if you ask, it’s because we want to acknowledge him as our father.

Qi Chao: “??”

Why did all his kids run out?

Didn’t he and the children’s father just go to the supermarket to buy eggs?

This novel is perfect. Well, except for the System kidnapping because honestly that feels weird.

Anyway, this is a love story that expended across 2 different dimension.

So, our MC is a reincarnation of Mother Tree and in the novel novel, the big bad ass villain is trying to keep the MT alive by using humans live.

So yeah, eventually the MT can not hold on and BOOOM the novel world gone but the MT in last breath managed to get reincarnated in different world until he is transmigrated back.

Honestly there is so many characters here but they all are memorable, good job author.

I will admit I am crying reading this.

It is so gentle. The MC is also very gentle he can even tame the villain.

Sorry, it is 3:21 AM my brain can not make long good quality review.

Please give this a try.

I really like this novel. Cute children, villain boyfriend who is gentle only to you, developed and detailed world. Seme protagonist which is quite rare. Well, of course, there are some things which are not explained at the end. For example MC brother life, his love story, children's superpowers (do they have them or not), plane consciousness idea of self destruction. But the story is sweet and fluffy, so I think it's OK to have Happy End

It's technically a child-rearing novel.

Our MC transmigerated into the body of the richest man's son, and has a great innate talent for creating "dolls". He has a charm of being kind and a little naive, so he attracts villainous characters with sad backstories. He loves his children very much.

ML is the type who thinks all humans are tr*sh and chess pieces. He's a villain but he does have a bottom line. A bit of a Kuudere and Yandere but very gentle towards the MC.

Spoiler

This is just me nitpicking because the whole Trial Grounds arc made me question MC's morality.

The MC does help those in need, but he don't usually go beyond acquaintanceship or mentorship. This might or might not be the intention of the author because the MC was presented as a family-man, but even with his own family it felt a little one-sided. (The reunion between him and Qiyang+System was anticlimatic tbh.)

I was hoping there would be more interactions between characters but in the end the story is largely focused on his relationship with the dolls, not humans so it didn't affect my ratings. Seeing their big family interactions is really wholesome, so this is just my extra ramblings.

[collapse]

Outside of the overarching plot of reforming the villain and storyline, it's mostly about the daily lives of pampering the kids (dolls) and saving the world. I think the setting of a puppet maker isn't common in danmei (at least not as a whole novel), so it's a pretty novel idea to have both the MC and ML be one.

All in all although there were some plot points that I wished were expanded, it was overall a well-written doting story to read.

this novel has me hooked! The concept of living dolls is super interesting and very well written. The translations so far are also excellent! I wanted to read more so I read the raws, but I did get a little confused at times, altho it didn’t prevent me from reading onwards. MC and his children are very healing, and their interactions are too cute, the interactions between cubs is also adorable! I do prefer that MC’s with a savior complex have the ability and brains to back it up, and... more>> this MC is exactly it! The MC, ML, and their children all have their unique appeal (Xiang Yue <33333). Overall, I def recommend! <<less

The novel was soo good that 5 stars seems low so I gave an extra star 1😁.

I just accidentally pressed it....I knew untill now.

Ahhh I got attracted because of the horror tag as I am a big fan of horror novels but I can't see anything scary but.... fluff.... and didn't thought that it would be this good.

ML:

The ML seems kinda of a person who doesn't bother with the MC... and just act like a good person but is very distant. He kinda some times feel like he doesn't care about MC he also don't like people touching him... but later it got better. ML started to change into some one who genuinely care about MC.

Puppets:

I wished if Puppets had called MC mom rather then dad. MC really care about his kids the Puppets and them just like his own human kids rather then Puppets which he can't step on anytime.
Spoiler

At first the puppet lanlua had the intention to kill the MC but later it change and he even rip out the h3art of wolf king who stabbed MC on the chest.

[collapse]

Mc:

He is a very gentle and caring person. Who also kinda blindly believe people who he treated as family. Even when ML showed sus moments or try to manipulate him, he didn't doubted ml. Anyway ML is a good person compare to other s*um gongs. MC is also very soft hearted even if his heart is broken he won't blame the other if that person who broke it is in a desperate situation or in pain. But MC is not s*upid just that some times he don't wanna realize.....u can say he is kinda delulu. But it's hard to read mtl so I am frustrated. I wish that more translated chapters would come fast. <<less

It’s sooo good!

I love how MC interacts with the puppets and how the puppets interact with each other.

The puppets’ personalities are really fleshed out. They aren’t generally “kind” “bad” or something.

For example... more>>
Spoiler
  • Li Bai: He’s cheerful and kind but he won’t let himself get bullied. He’s also very considerate.
  • Luo Luo: He’s like a tsundere.
  • Agu: He pisses everyone off because he teases people too much lol.
  • Xiang Yue: He’s cold and quiet but he cares about the people around them. Agu likes him a lot because he can tolerate Agu. Cold and mature vibes
  • Moss: Love moss! He’s my favorite puppet. He is also cold but compared with Xiang Yue, he has cold and innocent vibes

Big Reveal (MC finds out about ML and his puppets, what they actually do and stuff) :
Spoiler

MC gets an idea because he encountered some puppets chasing some trial ground escapees. The puppets and escapees say they are just playing a game but MC has this gut feeling that something feels wrong

He eventually finds out clues and talks with these escapees (while ML and the puppets were not around)

At first, MC was upset because he feels like he doesn’t really know ML and they are hiding these from him

However, we don’t really get an angsty confrontation because even before ML and MC gets to talk about it, MC ends up going to the Mother Tree and he finds out that

What ML and the puppets are doing are because they want to revitalize the Mother Tree

MC feels like he can’t judge ML or get angry now because it turns out that MC actually the manifestation of the Mother Tree and he is the prime beneficiary of what ML/puppets are doing

Although even ML didn’t know about this fact by that time

So when they meet again, ML is scared that MC will leave him and stuff like that

But it gets resolved in like half a chapter and no angst at all so everything is smooth sailing which is nice

I love this novel so much!

I couldn't stop reading until I know what happens next. I love the MC and the ML so much. Reading them together makes my heart flutter.

I also love the puppets! I love their individual personalities and dynamics with each other. Also, they remind me so much of ball jointed dolls!

It was a great read! I'm really happy with how it ended.

I adore this novel, and I didn’t expect to. The characters are so well fleshed out and interesting, the plot is engrossing and I’m always so excited to find out what happens next!

The translators get big kudos too - the chapters flow well, and each one is long enough to be satisfying even though I’m now caught up to the ongoing releases.

I'm not yet half way through the novel but so far it's enjoyable and flows well. Lighter on the romance side at this point.

In fact, my main issue with the plot is that I find it painful to read about a character who gives his whole heart and soul to his family and friends, going out of his way to help them, and all the while said family/friends are using him to the outmost, and expect to get rid of him in the most final way soon.

And the only family... more>> members who are truly kind to him do so because they think him to be the original body.

Spoiler

Even the system, who for comedic purposes cannot share the plot with him, has a coffin ready for him and is just waiting for him to die. While MC thinks the system is there to help him.

[collapse]

I understand that the plot is about the MC melting their heart towards him, but it's just sad reading about what MCs surrounding think of him.

Update:

To be honest, the story would have been a lot better without the romance. It feels so fake, the MC fell for a figment of his own imagination, and the ml... Let's just say he thinks it's OK to get rid of the mc's dolls/kids just so he doesn't risk losing him.

I actually, for the first time I think, completely skipped every romantic interaction between the 2 because it was so unpleasant. <<less

This is one of my absolute favourites!

Imo the best thing about this novel is the doll setting because the lore is rich and the dolls are super cute. I love that the dolls all have distinctive personalities, much like real human children would, and that they all learn and grow as the story progresses. I adore how attached they are to the MC and I enjoy seeing him pamper his little family with endless love and care.
Spoiler

I was also so moved by the doll revolution that took part at the end. Seeing the dolls get the rights they deserve was so heartwarming!

[collapse]

Our MC is oblivious to the evil nature of the dolls he owns and the ML, their creator, which often adds both humour and tension to the story. His misunderstandings are not only funny and ironic to us, the readers, but they also prevented him from being killed a bunch of times. The MC and the ML are a good match and it’s basically the pairing of a silly and sweet but fatherly gong and a black belly/yandere genius shou. I personally really like reading the trope of a kind MC taming a psycho ML lol.

I think if you liked vibes of The Rescue Of The Tragic Villain Is In Progress, you’ll like this.

Only thing I thought was a little weird was
Spoiler

the MC’s world hopping bro who fell in love with the system because that was just random af lol

The initial intrigue is alright, but once the establishment of a better world starts, the novel really starts to shine. The way the puppets interact with the CP and their collective family antics were so sweet! There's a lot more puppets in the mix that I originally thought, but each brings their own energy to the plot.
Spoiler

MC and ML have 5 each (to be a master-level puppet maker 5 are needed to get certified) + 1 collaboration puppet for major plot reasons towards the end. That's a total of 11 children running around in this family!

[collapse]

Yes, MC can feel a bit naive or overly looks for the good in people, but that's literally the point of his character—I feel. Otherwise, the entire premise—treating puppets with respect and care rather than toys—simply cannot be executed. It's because MC looks for the good and never allows appearances to make judgements that his genuine love for his creations—his children—changes the world and the people around him. ML is selfish, cruel, and manipulative at times, but MC is able to accept him as he is, knowing that there's more underneath the walls ML has built around himself. There's something satisfying about seeing an originally distrustful ML get disarmed and let his walls down with MC, growing affection until it's become too large to ignore. Once they're together, it's so full of sugar!

Overall, the family dynamics kept me locked in till the end. It's just so nice to see them reach contentment after all they've been through.
Spoiler

The last few chapters + extras really got me. When Moss nearly goes back to the mother tree, I suddenly deeply thought about my own life and the lives of my loved ones. The puppet revolution and rights activism was such a lovely and natural progression of MC's wishes. Such a peaceful ending is so rewarding to read!

Pre-emptive review cause I'm following along with the translator's updates, but so far I LOVE this!!! So far, the relationship pacing is pretty good; the villian ML is still very much a villain, and doesn't nonsensically fall in love with MC right away, so you still get the vibe and understanding that ML is indeed a pretty scary and evil guy who has done and will do morally terrible things. Also, a little reassurance for anyone who might have been worried; MC DOES NOT FALL IN LOVE WITH THE CHILD-LIKE... more>> PUPPET!!! LAN LUO IS NOT THE ML!!! Ngl I was worried at first that the author wold pull some weird "Oh the puppet was actually possessed by ML the whole time so it's ok" or some other similar bullshit, because I have unfortunately been jump scared by similar story lines in the past TToTT. Nope, ML is indeed an adult human being who is actually a few years older than the MC, so no weird age gaps of kinda icky descriptions of a "beautiful barely-legal youth" here, folks!

MC seems, on the surface level, seems like a bit of a bleeding heart and self-sacrificial person for innocents, but the longer you read you get more of a vibe that MC is much darker morally than he appears... it's really thrilling to read the prospective of a protagonist whose true feelings at times are a mystery to the reader as well.

The other characters outside of MC and ML are well-written as well, and you really get the sense that they're fully fleshed out characters with interesting lives and interactions outside of MC and ML, plus so far the novel hasn't fallen into the trap of making MC (and ML) one of those moral paragon's whose brain waves are completely different from that of everyone else in the setting (like seen in some time travel or transmigration novels where the transmigrated MC is some kind of messiah for not being a misogynist/racist/ab*ser/etc like everyone else in the setting) ; you see other characters outside the ML and MC showing that they genuinely care for their puppets and treat them well, even though in this setting it's socially acceptable and normal for people to treat puppets like toys or s*aves. It really adds depth to the setting by showing that, even in a world where being shitty to a certain type of being is normalised, that there ARE people out there who will treat those beings well, even if they were born and raised in a society with that mindset. It's sort of a minor aspect to focus on, I guess, but I've seen too often in transmigration novels that the MC feels like the only person in the whole world who treats so-called "lesser beings" as people worthy of respect (common settings with these tropes being ger setting, zerg setting, ABO setting sometimes, etc). It feels more realistic so see people "naturally from" the setting still treating others with dignity and respect, and not like some mindless hivemind where everyone shares the same discriminatory mindset and behavior. <<less

Reallyyyyyyy GOOOD!!

I only read the doll arc and I Love it.

Everything is so in place. The dolls act like actual babies I mean they sure are ruthless but show their innocent child side upon giving some affection which is very cute and satisfying. Although I did get a bit of second hand embarrassment when MC start referring to himself as doll's dad when the previous owner just beat the sh*t Outta that doll few hrs ago (original body before MC's transmigration). Anyways MC is quite loveable, sunshine, naive and... more>> unexpectedly gong!!!!

ML is shou (the sunshine protector), he is really really deserves the title to be villain. Cruel ruthless and CLEVER!! They way he easily manipulated MC after the auction is chef's kiss *muwha*

I loved the overall chemistry of happy family with moss being my fav character and child. <<less

This story is actually good, the plot is also very solid.

It's just that the execution of the story is a little lacking, this is because the main plot of the story (the arc of world tree) is finished in the middle of the story, which ultimately makes the rest of the story less interesting.

If only the author could package each plot sequence better, I think this story could be more interesting.

I quite enjoyed this. It was super cute, entertaining, and pretty well done. I definitely recommend it and I appreciated how it was fluffy but didn't lack an actual plot.

Also, felt the need to reply to a negative review here, the MC isn't dumb. He just has a lot of blind faith in people he cares about. Not necessarily a bad thing, and throughout the novel his blind faith actually inspires the people he believes in to become better versions of themselves. I really enjoyed his character, and liked seeing... more>> the changes he brought to the world. <<less

I like the world building in it. The plot is nice. We have adorable but also dangerous babies (puppets) We have a weird lover who didn't want to get emotionally attached at first then changed his mind and wanted MC for himself. Then we have the MC who is unaware or just decides to ignore the loopholes when it comes to his loved ones. It was an enjoyable journey. I like novels with strong familial bonds. They are not an actual family but it feels more real than the real... more>> ones sometimes. I like the concept of puppet. The ending was satisfying. I just wish there was more extras like Ellington's puppets and their renuion or San Yue and TS (forgot his name) It would also be fun to show the aftereffects of the New system by showing more people. Except that It was incredible. <<less

Tried to keep reading but, oh man, the MC is really f*cking dumb. Everyone manipulates him and he seems to not realise anyone has ill-intent towards him— it’s honestly so bizzare.

The MC often glorifies others’ behaviours too which just makes it even more irritating when they don’t even like him.

Only good thing is the world setting... so I give this two stars.

I love it, I didn't think I would like this novel because it is labeled horror and it is not my style, I read it because it is interesting to find a novel with a similar protagonist so I decided to give it a chance, it was totally worth it, the protagonist is So cute and the puppets too, yes it has its horror parts, but the interaction of the protagonists and their puppets touches my heart. Not so much emphasis on the transmigrators, this reads more like a sweet pet story than anything else. If you enjoy interstellar raising pet novels, you'd probably like this alot!!

There's ALOT of kids so dont worry, and the great thing is they all have their own dynamic!! You won't get bored, and there's alot of characters to like and pay attention too. The story is quite long but it goes from villain's plan completion to solving the world line (+ MC has a special identity)...

There's no horror elements, no thriller,... more>> it's mostly just a sweet novel that follows the plot and has a sweet family in it. It's an enjoyable story, its just a little long <<less

This is one of the most unique stories I've read so far. Despite the fact it is a system-based story, it is actually a character-build-up and a genuine type of story. I love it so much that I dedicated 4 days to reading this (while at work or sleeping at night). It's a family-style story so it might not be your favourite. But this is very fulfilling. It's like one of the farming BL novels out there but more on making puppets and treating them as children. So it is... more>> childrearing as well. The chemistry of the ML and MC is also great. Both are proactive to each other. It wasn't at first because they weren't sure what to approach. But as soon as one confessed it was so cute. There are minimal plotholes and I warn you... this is not entirely about the love between MC and ML. This is a story of building a family and solving conflicts. For example, solving how humans perceived puppets. Due to people's minimal knowledge of puppets. Most people did not treat them right and even experimented on them and took their lives and "powers." ML loves his creations/puppets and his own children. Thus, he tried to change their fate and people's view of the puppets. I again recommend this! <<less

I liked this novel in that the aspect of puppets was interesting. The romantic relationship of MC, Qi Chao, and ML, Shen Yuxi, felt a bit lacking to me. Maybe it's cause everyone close to MC tries to hide their true nature from him, including ML. It's just my thought that ML never really felt secure enough in MC's feelings? So their love is imperfect in my view.

Overall an entertaining read as MC learns to create puppets in the new world. This world considers puppets as toys even though they... more>> are sentient. MC works to change the world's mindset to respect puppets as beings with feelings and independent thought.

I got upset when reading about the ab*se to some of the puppets. So the sensitive readers need to be aware of this. In the end, the puppet population will have a happy ending thanks to MC.

Spoiler

SPOILER...

...

MC is actually a reincarnation of the Mother Tree. The Mother Tree is the origin of the puppets. In the original novel, the World Consciousness self destructed and the world was destroyed. In the last moments, the Mother Tree created MC and sent him out of the world. The system sent MC back to the world and MC was able to change the storyline to save the world and change the status of puppets.
