Thus, he would change his fate as an ab*sed slag.

I don't like yaoi novels. In fact, I avoid them. That is merely my personal preference, as there is a reason I'm a straight man, and reading about two men kissing is somewhat... uncomfortable. I bring this up because I love this novel. And it's important that you hear my view on an extremely large part of the novel, and know that the writing in this novel is so good that I can look over half of it making me feel uncomfortable.

You may be wondering, however, why I even started... more>> reading this novel if it was yaoi, well, I had no idea (thank god). It was a good portion into the first arc that I went back to this screen, and checked the tags, because I was getting odd vibes off of the MC and ML then. I almost quit reading, once I found out, I wasn't interested in a yaoi romance novel, but I had been drawn into the story up to that point, and decided to continue reading (once again, thank god).

As you read this novel, you'll likely enjoy every arc. The arcs rarely become boring or tedious (mind you, it does happen occasionally). But the best part is that you'll likely have one or two favorite arcs that you come back to every so often. Maybe every 6 months or so, you'll be thinking about pianos, and get the sudden urge to read a certain absolutely perfect arc once more. Who knows?

Anyways, this wasn't meant to hate on yaoi novels, it was simply made to show you how good this book little book could be if you give it a chance. <<less

Truthfully, I started to read the FOD because it has a huge raiting. So far I'm greatly dissapointed. I just tried to understand WHY people like the novel so much. But it was sooooo boooriiing.

The MC is a god! No! Better! He knows all, he can do anything and everything he wants. And the ML is the same.

The only arc that is rather interesting was about a painter, who was wronged.

It's a pity I lost so much time reading this

I managed to find an online txt of the published version of this story (untranslated, of course). It contains a smattering of extra NC-17 s*x scenes for the various existing chapters. There's also three extra worlds and an extra side story featuring the supporting male lead in ch14. Two of the extra worlds immediately follow ch15 (Cuckold Emperor) : Evil wuxia grandmaster x Shaolin monk, then Juvenile fox spirit x Imperial regent wangye. One more extra world is basically a honeymoon adventure after the end of the main plot in... more>> the "real world", and features some kind of were-animal planet. I thought the wuxia world one was quite good, but the other two extra chapters were kinda gratuitous. The side story is... YMMV depending on if you liked the supporting male lead from ch14, I guess; I didn't, so I found it to be kinda meh.

Anyway, the original online version of the story (which this translation is based on, I believe) reads quite well on its own without the additional sections in the published edition. Each world don't drag on, and generally contribute well to the overarching meta-plot. There's a lot of hints and foreshadowing on what the ML actually is, and on re-reading earlier chapters, it's fun to observe how the ML has always been acting towards his nature, and in retrospect it seems only natural for the kind of entity the ML is to fall for a destructive hacker like the MC. <<less

This is my 2nd time reading this gem. I assure u that I can read it again and again without being bored. This is one of the best novel I had the honour to read out of all novels out there. If u skip this novel just because of yaoi genre, then u miss a big time. I felt a bit loss after the story come to the end. It will be so wonderful if there is sequel to this marvelous gem.

I want to laugh at those IDIOTS that review after only reading quarter of the novel HAHAHAHAHAHA, they really thought they reviewed something, dear lord I'm crying & laughing 😂 Impatient idiots the lot of them. OK listen up, the early chapters are of course easy and a bit repetitive but what kind of game let's you go on hard mode first? It wants you to get used to it then BOOM the chapters will get longer and more complicated, MC will face problems even his golden finger was unusable... more>> due to 'Lord God' finding out.

So yes, the good parts are in the back, FOR REAL, I have lots of fav but the one where author even had to make an EXTRA for a love interest that loves MC with his SOUL, it shows that the fans really crying and needed closure and the extra really helped on that :')

AND DON'T GET ME ON when he finally got back to reality, you thought its gonna straight away be happy happy shit, but nahhh, there's more plot, and wow it wasn't annoying IT MADE THINGS SPICIER HOLY sh*t ML IS FREAKING hdhdheb AHH IDK HOW TO SAY BRUHHH, the journey and their love is very healthy and beautiful. It's just tr*sh, honestly. Unlikable MC, unlikable ML, terrible writing involving the same adjectives being used over and over (take a shot every time MC's supple waist, eyes, and world ending beauty is described) as well as info-dumping like crazy. There's also some extremely hilarious scenes of plagiarism from the MC (through the author of course) that made my organs cringe. Do yourself a favor and read Don't Pick Up Boyfriends from the tr*sh Bin instead. I'd only recommend this if you want to make every future novel you read... more>> a million times better in comparison. <<less

Many people have given this very high ratings, so I came in with really high expectations, and tried to give it a chance by reading till the end. But sadly, it did not live up to the hype. I can see why some people would like this novel as an overpowered transmigration novel with a lot of face-slapping. But to me, the characters seemed very two-dimensional. Many of the characters are just there to serve as a foil to show how even more overpowered the main character is - who... more>> unreasonably, unexplainably, has a wealth of knowledge in every single world.

And don't even get me started on the male lead. I see this trope very often in BL novels, unfortunately, but the MC and the love interest basically have zero chemistry. I get that the author's trying to paint them as inseparable, romantic lovers, but I really can't feel any sense of "love" between the two of them, except for the physical affection they have for each other. They're more like f*** buddies if I have to put it so crudely.

This is just my honest and rather harsh rating of it, but if you're looking for a light hearted quick transmigration novel with face slapping, this is for you. :≫ <<less

I've finished reading this pre-covid but I still come back occasionally to read arc 9 whenever I feel like it. I never left a review before because this novel overall was just meh but the ninth world is *cheff's kiss* for me. I neither loved or hated this novel and I don't particularly care about other people's review because everyone's free to love or hate it.

Well, today I was planning to reread arc 9 again and just happened to glance at the reviews at the top. The first one was... more>> a two-star review that I respect since they just said that they liked some of it but overall was meh and advised people that if the first few arcs doesn't interest them then just don't continue reading and I think that judgement is fair since I am a firm believer of the DON'T LIKE DON'T READ rule.

The tags exist for a reason people. But that review is not the reason why I felt the need to write my own after my years of quietly rereading arc 9. There is a rather scathing 1 (0) star review left by a Veteran Danmei Enjoyer that I did not enjoy reading.

They said that people would only like this novel if they're into "cringey op chunni wattpad-fanfic" type of novels and then proceeds to warn Veteran Danmei Enjoyers that they will certainly die from cringe if they read this. What is this if not condescending? That's also the tone of the Veteran Danmei Enjoyer for the whole review.

They say that they were deceived by the high ratings. They are not the first review to express such concerns but here's an advice; Don't get deceived by the high ratings. How? Read the 3 stars reviews. Usually those would be from people who enjoyed the novel but is aware that not everyone would enjoy it. Some 3 star reviews would even be kind enough to explain which parts may be good or bad based on their own reading experience. For this, might I point everyone over to Attica's review posted on October 12, 2018. One of the other reasons why I never posted a review of my own is because their review already exists and I thought that was enough warning to people but I guess I had too much faith on some of the danmei readers. Feel free to check out that review after this but I just have a few more points to make.

They complained about the pe*o elements of the story. There is a shota tag up there people. Please make it a habit to read tags. For the new readers, don't worry since this is a qt novel, the shota does not exist in every arc. I only remember one or two arcs with it but I'm not sure since I just skip whole paragraphs (chapters in some cases) whenever I don't like what I'm reading. Btw arc 9 doesn't have any pe*o elements.

Do I believe that this novel is at the top of the qt genre? Not really. Does that mean I should get upset people feel differently? Absolutely not. This is just a story and people are free to love or hate it. So no one should get upset over the fact that people like this.

To clarify, I'm not upset that people don't like this novel. I'm just not a fan of the condescending tone of the review. It's as if they're saying that "I don't like this one so how DARE people like this. They are not Veteran Danmei Enjoyers. They are cringey chunni wattpady newbies that doesn't know good from bad literature". That's not exactly what they said but that's the feeling I got from it. Are people not free to enjoy what they like?

This is objectively not the best novel. There are too many five star reviews (tbf most of them are from 2017 when the other qt novels were not yet fully translated). But people should be able to read this without the influence of an overly condescending review that gets deceived by ratings and does not take tags seriously.

To the new readers, please refer to the 3 star reviews for any novel, high rating or not. Those would usually give you the most objective reviews about the story. At least that's what I do to not get deceived by ratings.

This story has 16 arcs. Some are good and some are bad imo. But in the end, if you feel compelled enough to read this then do so with an open mind so that you can form your own opinions about it. You're free to overly praise it, hate it to your core, or just feel okay towards it just don't be a condescending prick about it. Good day. Read what you like and if you don't like something then don't read it. Veteran Danmei Enjoyers should be familiar with that rule already.

Note: I know the reviewer never really referred to themselves as a Veteran Danmei Enjoyer but you can just feel the superiority that they have from that review. Again, I don't have a problem that they don't like qwtfod but the attitude they have in the review irks me like wtf 💀 <<less

I finally... finished this novel. I just kept reading, I thought to myself, surely with this many views and worshiping this novel must be absolutely amazing, it must get better at some point! But no!!! I finished this novel purely out of spite and I can’t bear to touch the extras I’m so tired.

I admit there were a few arc where I enjoyed them and liked the set up very much. But everything in this novel just felt So Easy. There was no suspense. Every arc was pretty much the... more>> same. The MC gets his thorough revenge through his madly OP skills, hacking, acting, anything you can think of he’s probably a god at. Hell I usually love the overpowered MC trope, but something about this novel in particular had my eyes glazed over in boredom. I didn’t mind his personality, I find the cold and calculating protagonist fun. However with him, it all just felt so inevitable and boring. The entire novel felt like I was just reading the Very Long extras of another novel that doesn’t exist. And maybe that was the point, but I personally couldn’t dig it. Speaking of Not Digging, here’s some other things to be aware of:

• Author for some reason Really likes using G*ng R*pe as a way to get back at characters that have gone against the main duo. And trust me I love a good merciless crushing, but really?? Author seems to love that particular punishment and I found it completely unnecessary and hard to read.

• Why does this author love age differences so much! A majority of the plot lines are pretty damn p*dophelic!

• Very Dubious and R*pey. The novel portrays it as, oh its fine because the MC and you as the reader both know that its the ML reborn! But for me personally it was not very comforting. I LOVE possessive and weird MLs but the repetitive dubious vibes, especially combined with the often p*dophile vibes, just wore me down when it’s basically most of the relationships.

Idk man this novel just exhausted me. This review is exhausting me too so that’s all I got. Give it a try if you want, maybe it’s your thing. But my advice is that if you read the first couple arcs and aren’t impressed, don’t keep reading in hopes of it getting better cause that’s basically the whole thing. <<less

It's bad... It's just so bad. I honestly don't understand how this tr*sh has so many positive reviews?? It starts off (kinda) good but it gets repetitive and annoying real fast. And when I say "good", I mean that I never read a quick-transmigation, world-hopping novel before and it took me a while to notice how unoriginal and stereotypical the plot of this one was. And I had SO many red-flag warnings that this novel sucks! This shows how much I wanted to like it. I thought that all the... more>> positive reviews were made because of some incredible ending, that the last chapter would compensate it all. But I eventually gave up.

By the time I dropped it, I already hated both the MC and ML. I don't even remember how much chapters I read (the MC had came back to the real world already so it was a LOT) and I honestly regret not dropping it sooner. <<less

Hey you!

Yeah you! I know why you lurk around here..

because you wanna know whether this novel deserve your precious time or not, yea?

... more>> Guess what? You're gonna regret it later, trust me..

You're gonna regret reading it, because the anxiousness of waiting of the new chapter update is unbearable.. It's that good, yes! ;)

f*ck I was kya kya-ing on almost every chapters, I'm going crazy :D

It's very entertaining, it makes me happy.

Well even if you're not into shounen ai, you can still enjoy the story.. Because the bed scene is really really subtle.. if I have a 12 yo child, I wouldn't mind them reading this novel.. It's a safe novel, cute, fluffy, heartwarming and the stories are beautiful. Or I can just tell them to skip the sexy part lol

(Edit : the last few episodes, they aren't suitable for kid's reading material. No seriously, there are depiction of brutal torture methods such as raping woman by inserting all kind of objects to her private part while she's screaming in agony and wanting to die, THIS IS NOT SUITABLE FOR KIDS UNDER 16 in my opinion, so if you're still a pure child in your mind.. Just avoid reading parts after the "LORD GOD" aka "The AI QUEEN" realized about ZYS trying to defeat her.

The hot s*x scenes is fine, s*x is natural afterall.. S*xual torturing isn't!!.)

Here's a theme song for this Novel.

(Nature Boy by Nat King Cole.)

There was a boy..

A very strange, enchanted boy..

They say he wandered very far..

Very far, over land and sea..

A little shy and sad of eye..

But very wise was he..

And then one day..

One magic day he passed my way..

While we spoke of many things..

Fools and kings..

This he said to me:

"The greatest thing you'll ever learn

Is just to love and be loved in return" <<less

After being battle-hardened for over two years by so many different c-novels, I still come back to re-read FOD at least once every 5 months or so. By no means FOD is a perfect novel or a masterpiece that can rival Dostoyevsky, but it never intended to be such. Hence I was quite surprised by the sheer amount of negative reviews when I decided to recheck the NU page for this novel once again. If anything, you shouldn't read a novel with "top hacker [being] chosen by the Lord God to be reborn into countless worlds, always as an expendable villain" in its description and expect being philosophically enlightened :))))

FOD is a feel good novel that you read if you want to relax your mind and enjoy some good... more>> and traditional face-slapping. It's not surprising why for so many people FOD is the white-moonlight of the quick transmigration genre; it does a great job of creating interesting worlds accompanied by sweet romance and satisfying revenge.

One of the main criticisms that one may see a lot is that the plots of each arc are repetitive, with no suspense alongside over-powered protagonists. And while I agree for some this may not be their cup of tea, this is essentially the main selling point of the novel. FOD never shied away from endorsing itself as a Gary Stu story, and that's something that I find a lot of pleasure in. You don't read each arc for the sake of suspense and innovativeness; you read it as you want to see exactly how would ZYS will deal with his opponents and the teeth rotting romance between ZYS and ML.

In terms of characters, MC (Zhou Yun Sheng) is the star of the show. He is cunning and cruel, yet kind to those deserving. While he is incredibly over-powered to the point of ridiculousness; I still found him quite relatable and surprisingly down to Earth. It is also quite refreshing to see a MC who is so open about his se*uality, which to me personally makes the story far more enjoyable than its competitors. And while the author could've easily saved their word count by not dedicating thousands and thousands of words describing ZYS's beauty; to me this was more like a running gag if anything. He is a very pleasing protagonist who knows what he wants and won't hesitate to achieve it by any means. He is morally grey, but that is precisely why it makes him more realistic in comparison to other MCs in the same genre. More often than not, his cruelty is justified and also satisfying to witness. His opponents aren't brainless nor s*upidly ridiculous and over the top, in fact I often found myself pitying them; thus making the whole process of "face-slapping" more interesting, despite knowing that ZYS will win regardless.

There is not much I can say about ML as his presence was more like a concept if anything. His personality traits change from arc to arc, therefore it is harder to give any feedback regarding his characterisation. That being said, his interactions with ZYS in each arc were very fun and sweet; he is the companion that ZYS deserves. His 'concept' is essentially being completely smitten by the MC to the point of insanity, and I would eat this up every single arc hahaha. He is essentially the embodiment of a perfect lover that is quite fitting to this sort of novel; a la overbearing CEO gong that we are so used to seeing in danmei. And while this is a cliche that so many people are tired of; it is still important to remember as to why cliches become cliches- because so many people liked it.

Overall, this novel does a great job at its intended purpose- to satisfy the reader (that is of course if above is on par with your preferences). It's a relatively quick read with many worlds to satisfying one's cravings for different diegesis and a perfect novel for the newbie readers who have just entered the scene. As such, it will forever remain as one of the most fun novels I have ever read, disregarding its quite obvious shortcomings and fairly valid critique. <<less

Maybe I’m broken but I really don’t understand all the hype around this novel. Mass hysteria perhaps? This novel is enjoyable if you don’t mind reading sort-of repetitive, often cringy, fast-paced short stories with lackluster endings. The MC is a genius, yes, but that’s it. I understand he went through horrible deaths/situations when he had to play the part of the villain but that doesn’t mean the author had to make it seem like his personality was s**ked out in my opinion. As for the ML, he was pretty dry... more>> too, didn’t stand out to me much.

The MC went through the worlds fast, always beautiful In appearance, never struggling, and him leaving the worlds sometimes happened so abruptly that you would miss it if you weren’t paying attention. I really wanted to like it based on all the positive reviews and the number of re-readers but it just lacked so much substance.

I probably would’ve liked this novel more if I had read this BEFORE I read another world-hopping/transmigration novel (Don’t pick up boyfriends from the tr*sh bin). After reading that one, this novel was very lackluster in comparison. Very different concepts/storyline besides the world-hopping of course, but the world build-up & characters here lacked the depth and liveliness that were present in DPUBFTTB so the stark contrast was prominent. It could also be that I preferred DPUBFTTB because I liked how the MC would leave the body and the host was able to live on with their new (& improved) life. But in this novel..

Spoiler

The MC just stays in their bodies & lives the rest of their lives for them. When the MC talks about fulfilling the host’s dreams & desires I always thought “What’s the point?? You’re going to live it FOR THEM, they’re already dead???”. Just didn’t make sense to me.

[collapse]

Everyone has their own tastes & preferences of course but this just didn’t do it for me. <<less

Eh.

I didn't really want to read it at first because this sort story device of world jumping and systems isn't my thing unless it's reincarnations (with no system). Romance is presented as if it was a main part of the story, but of course falls behind due to the minimal development.

A lot of it felt lazy. They sort of just... got together and then that was it. In the first world, MC wanted to use ML for face-slapping and MC is hot and cute and ruthless and that's it so... more>> ML likes him (which is honestly fine but I guess since his data is the same in all worlds after the first that means he falls deeply in love at first sight despite many worlds where MC is noticeably different in personality but it's the SOUL now I guess).

A rare thing I do like about this novel is that MC is gay already and makes the moves on ML himself. Which is difficult to find, so props to that.

When I say love at first sight I mean that literally. Like. No. MCs character is simply automatically more attractive. I guess it makes sense that they've already fallen in love, there's no need to start anew, but since we barely got any development in the first world it's just same old. And in many worlds it's just lust and that's it. ML's entire concrete personality was just a usually-rich-and-powerful person who is completely and utterly obsessed with MC and is also h**ny as all heck but at least the story is self-aware amirite.

Spoiler

Sometimes r*pe and also underage (but oh-hoh actually consensual but still mcfracking r*pe in ML's mind, like he hid his identity purposefully). Also creepy stalker behavior that usually is way more creepy than sweet.

[collapse]

But since the romance is... honestly terrible in many technical parts of his novel, how is (are) the rest of the story (ies) ? Inconsistently good versus bad, mostly just weird. Due to the world jumping, it's possible to like some worlds and hate others. MC is OP, I guess reasonably because he's already a seasoned world jumper.

Spoiler

Also a god-level hacker, meaning after gaining control of the system, he is LITERALLY A GOD and can change a crap ton of stuff, including his physical looks, his aura, downloading and plagiarizing songs from other worlds, creating flawless audio files, and basically anything else learned through the countless worlds he already experienced like, cooking, acting, singing (with tweaks to his data for superhuman range), business, etc.

So uhm, he had no real flaws before nor after his experiences other than "normal talent" to "overpowered talent" and being a bit of a bastard (but he's still ALWAYS right).

[collapse]

So, the point is not character nor relationship growth (because that happens literally never for literally ANYONE) but face-slapping and revenge schemes. The only one I really actually liked was the last historical one, where MC was an emperor, and that was only counting the world and one side character, not the romance.

Spoiler

Since that's also the one ML repeatedly drugged then r*ped him while hiding his identity because "he loves him and dat's all there is to it :D"

"oh he kissed me while drugged (ignoring MC's awareness) ? ok better drug him constantly and r*pe him now and THEN try to ACTUALLY kidnap him"

[collapse]

Since the only people that actually matter are the side characters because usually they're the ones who go through anything note-worthy they were all one-demensional except for maybe two. And of course almost all entirely UNFORGIVEABLY EVIL.

Spoiler

Main villainess in the supermodel world was such a weird one. Like, she was ab*sed during childhood and r*ped when she was a young adult by her stepdad with the approval of her mom to sustain a financial marriage, but she's villified for almost all of the story 20% for her scheming ways (as if she doesn't have good reason to want to escape, even if she was a terrible person) and then 80% for her CURVY BODY which is glaringly body-shaming in the name of Chinese beauty standards of human-noodle proportions, especially for females. The standard of "youthful child" silhouette with a either a great metabolism or eating one meal of a fruit a day. Then she becomes a p*rn star as punishment. This story portrays an ab*sed r*pe-victim (btw with non-con already being a huge problem in cnovels already) as someone who will inevitably be objectified as a CURVY female. What the fudge nuggets.

This isn't even mainly about her as a character (yes she's a terrible person and irl r*pe doesnt justify... cheating I guess) and more what her character stands for. These people are already represented extremely poorly especially in c-novels, so it's just annoying as all hell.

Also MC in the autistic artist story just pretending to be autistic because okay fine. Original character died, and MC needs to be not OOC.

And possibly autistic and definitely 0-degrees-empathy brother character in the twins world being more sympathetic is the best example where a marginalized group is more positively portrayed, except maybe gays??

[collapse]

2.0/5.0 might be lower. Not utterly painful to read but boring and weird and uh. yeah.

To me it's highly, highly overrated, but I guess I like things developing and interesting and meaningful characters, and don't like yandere/self-aware rapist MLs.

The point of the whole story was to face-slap and vengeance so whatever, I'll give a pass on the OP MC since to me that's not one of the major problems that tiggered me. I already knew that when I was getting into it that the MC simply isn't going to be anything more than a wish-fulfillment mechanical hand. His character development is done mainly before the story actually begins, which is suffering suffering suffering, and after meeting ML it's "and so now I love and can feel SO MUCH emotion". Aight. It's... shallow but there.

Also I skipped the very last irl arc cause I just didn't give enough of of a shyte about any of the characters to continue to irl. Sorry. <<less

On the first read of the whole entire novel, I was satisfied and content. The sweet revenge stroked my desire for face slapping. This novel is a great revenge fulfillment story. You feel satisfied about the justice that the main protagonist gets.

But I recommend to stop rereading after 1 or 2 time. When the exciting and happy emotions disappear, logic and clarity will kick in. And honeymoon no more...

Continue reading for the finer detail.

Coming back and reading the story for the nostalgia and fun again, I’ve realized how redundant and... more>> poorly written this novel is.

Spoiler

Over time, the methods that the hacker uses to achieve his goals deviates from his original plan: to take revenge using his own strength and power.

We start seeing usage of eye hypnotism power and miraculous body shaping skills. Wow! I didn’t know humans can hypnotize with eyes and change appearance at will!

One can argue that the hacker really did achieve his goals with his own power by hacking into the system and manipulating its power. Yet, when he unnaturally changes his appearance or use fantastical/somewhat magical hypnotism power to control people, the integrity of his mission (to take revenge with his own power) is lost.

All of the sudden, it’s not fun to read about a character that’s get everything handed on a silver platter (basically). The hard work and planning from arc one slowly disappears as magical powers kick in.

I lament this tragic demise of the hackers original mission.

Now I can’t read the story without picking out the minute and irritating details.

That’s why the reader of this review should heed my warning: don’t reread too much. You’re gonna regret it!

Truth to be told.. This story has started to slowly shape my preference for novels. Some might find it boring and stuff but have you really finished reading all of the arcs? Read everything first before you critique it really helps. This novel has this charm that if you start reading it, you get pulled into finishing it all in one sitting. That was what happened when I read this. Immediately hooked and actually abandoning sleep just to finish it. Yes, it is addicting. Very addicting.

This is such a cool and romantic BL novel. A refreshing approach and representation of "true love" and "destiny".

Different lives in different dimensions. Yet, the couple always find each other. Reading this makes you appreciate and admire the "bond" between them. It made me wish and pray for someone who is actually born for me. I'm in love.

EDIT: For potential readers/fan, please do not mind those who gave this low rating esp. Those who actually gave a review after chapter 1.1. (Pardon my transgression but I have to mention..) That... more>> is like browsing the preface of the book and calling it tr*sh. Seriously, if you want to leave a review at least read a couple of chapters to give your comment a little credibility and more so, to give the author a little respect (which he deserved) and some benefit of the doubt. Rate responsibly, folks. <<less
