Fun concept but terrible execution.

The story is about a munchkin master craftsman that takes his full level character to the game world where he is tasked with saving the north.

In general I enjoy such novels, particularly when they have male protagonist and romance, but this one made me want to bash my head into the wall.

... more>> Some of my pet peeves:-

1. The MC constantly keeps mentioning 'returning to earth', which would be fine if he actually had any clue regarding the possibility but he doesn't! There has been no portent to show that it's even possible and yet he's so blindly confident that he'll be going back and that affects the relationships he has in the new world. I keep trying to think he's in denial and/or coping but holy sh*t it's annoying! He mentions it every time something good is happening and it feels like someone pulled off my cozy blanket in middle of night.

2. The lack of difficulty is another thing that's a problem here. I mean, come on, the dude literally goes from an illegal immigrant to a noble in less than 6 months. He has all life skills maxed out and great luck stats too. Everything goes perfectly for him.

3. The most pathetic part is the romance however. The way MC keeps giving mixed signals... Frankly, he's acting like a s*umbag. I mean if you clearly have no intention of having a relationship with someone but keep implying through gifts, words and actions that you're courting them, then are you not a s*umbag? If he doesn't intend to stay then he should draw the line clearly. Period.

Honourable mentions:-

1. The gift MC gave the FL. Wtf! Of all the things he could have possibly made, he made her a birkin bag?! The FL is the grand Duchess of North, a great swordswoman who's the youngest swordmaster in the world, and just lost her cultivation and has to start from scratch, and you gave her a bag??? Come on! Give her a magic armour or amazing sword or something like that! Even if it's cliched it better than birkin bag ok! And the bag is not even that great! It has only spacial magic function that's useful, the MC used all other slots for useless functions that don't help at all. Not to mention he named it Arad's Devotion.

-ps. I understand that introduction of the bag was to facilitate the spread of fashion in North but still the way it was introduced made it infuriating 😞 😞 😞 😞.

2. The MC naming skills. Dude straight up names everything with his own name up front. Arad Stew, Arad Salt, etc. God! The lazy naming is so cringe!

3. And lastly, since I may be wrong about this, is the unrealistic stat allocation. The MC has max dexterity stat (300) but his strength stat is 10. Most basic stats like agility are also like this. His magic stat is 38. Now I'm not gamer, but I can't believe that these are the stats of a max level account that too one with master blacksmith skills. I mean with his strength stat can he even lift the materials required for blacksmithing? Anyway, the author's desire to nerf all his combat potential came through crystal clear.

In conclusion: too many mistakes in too short time. I'm out. <<less

Incredible new title. Different spin on isekai + territory development novels and really good pacing. Don’t feel like you’re skipping around but it moves pretty quickly and a lot happens in the 40ish chapters released. Highly recommended.

Just fabulous - this novel is so much fun to read! The plot is pretty interesting, the characters and their interactiond are simply heartwarming. The world building is very good.

I really like how the MC methodically and gradually starts to solve the north's problems one at a time, gradually shifting the tides of history and enriching the lives of its residents.

Fenris' translation quality is superb as usual. Will recommend 9.9/10

This novel is a true page-turner that kept me up well past my bedtime, which is a clear sign of its quality. The story is both fun and engaging, offering a refreshing take that avoids the typical tropes of most isekai plots. The world-building is immersive, and the characters are well-developed, with rich details that make them feel authentic and multi-dimensional. My only regret is reaching the end of the available chapters—I just wish there was more to read!

This is a strong reincarnation / territory development story with good pacing and good plot progression.

The basic premise is that MC gets pulled into a game world with max level crafting skills and no game system. He was instructed to save the north, and so he starts doing just that, actually starting with nothing and quickly working his way up to a position of power where he can be helpful to everyone. His powerset basically lets him be a master craftsman, creating things about 100 years in the future technology... more>> wise, bypassing the magical industrial revolution. What does he use this power for? To screw up political subterfuge against the north. Strong world and characters, albeit not the strongest or most interesting, but it makes sense as it's a game.

My only complaint? The romance isn't great. Basically they're both totally in love but both refuse to recognize they like the other person, and the romantic impulses make them act s*upid / out of character. These are two extremely success-oriented people, and while they're a good match, it's odd to see two people who's main goal is "to dedicate everything to the improvement of the north" fumble about like children after introducing the possibility of romance in literally the most forced, tropey, incomprehensible way I've ever seen. But it's not the main plot so on I read!

A couple other small gripes: there's the slightest whiff of sexism / teenage-boy centric writing which is a little annoying. There's also an issue of MC actually being pretty damn good in a fight, as long as he has money, as he makes magitech weapons like exploding arrows. This is cool to watch but kind of upsets the "only a crafter" vibes the story has going on. <<less

Fun nation builder novel. Starts off relatively tame as a cook and random merchant of sorts before going into making corporations and nation building. Some political intrigue and unknown information builds some suspense but everything goes smoothly for the MC. Not anything new but just enough to keep you wanting more. Novel ends on a good note albeit rushed a bit.

Solid novel, closer to a 4.5/5 than anything else. Is a bit of a wish fulfillment of somebody spawning in with crazy life skills which combined with this game "experience" results in him essentially being a Gary Stu. This is mitigated by all the other character who completely make the story.

The experience of reading can be summed up as MC does something, creates a shock, then the rest of the characters deal with the aftermath of the shock.

TL quality is excellent!

Was a promising premise that quickly became boring because of the really contrived "romance/misunderstanding" elements that is overshadowing the more interesting "dominate as a crafter" storyline. The so-called romance is an endless loop of the same misunderstandings between the two parties and is just amateurish nonsense and isn't even good for comedy.

It's a decent fun read that wouldn't really knock off your socks. It doesn't really stand out from the rest and imo doesn't offer anything special.

The characters are extremely straightforward, the MC included, which is both a positive and negative. They manage to fulfill their roles decently enough and have somewhat interesting dynamics like Isabella and Arina. However, from another perspective, they are a bit shallow as their traits defines them heavily.

The MC is as you might expect a bit of a Gary stu. We learn from the synopsis That... more>> his drawback is presumably the ability to not fight, but that's quickly cast aside. You wouldn't really need to be swordsman if you can just engineer a crossbow or a hundgun with never-before-seen magic enhancements and just one-shot everyone, right?

Well with that out of the way, I would still recommend it as the translation quality is phenomenal and surprisingly I didn't have any problems with the romance. Overall a fun read <<less
