I'm so stunned at how the author can complete this complex world-building of characters! I had a hard time keeping up with their families' names, relationships, titles, and history, but the story pushed me through to see the end. It was worth of my neurons that died from remembering whose character is that again. The translator is a big help for the little footnotes of reminders but I suggest you make your own diagram of family tree when you read it.

Since the author has a way with words, I... more>> literally, felt a pain in my stomach with the 2 birth scenes! And I'm always at the edge of my seat from all the chasing, fighting, and revelations of family secrets.

Overall this is a good read for those who love ancient novels that center on a fight for the throne with a sweetness of family love and romance.

Just a shout-out to the translator who was able to finish this! You are phenomenal! <<less

It has a good world building, and some good main character. But the author mention too much random character, and half of them don't ever appear in the story or just appear in 1 line. Too much information dumping about those character too, that I don't remember who is who and what are they doing before. Fortunately the translator often write and remind the reader about the character, so I don't feel too lost when reading.

Its a good read for someone who like serious stories and has a lot of patience. I had difficulty remembering names and titles of soooo many characters, plus everyone is blood related and connected in several ways, its hard to keep up.

The story moves forward without much dragging though I cant say the plot or twists had me shocked. There are heartfelt moments, father son bonding which is satisfying, the main characters are strong, mature and real. Whilst the father son duo are likeable characters, I found it hard... more>> to feel anything strong for them. The son's story was lot less interesting than the father's. I actually didnt really like any of the romance parts.

Overall well written story. Though it took a lot of effort to read this book, I enjoyed the journey. <<less

I felt like I was reading a Chinese Fiction history book.

We have pages of history that get thrown in our faces and the plot had no relevance to it alot of the time.

I also can't tell if MC was MC's dad or MC himself. 80% of the time MC didn't need to do jack and problem solved.

... more>> Feel like the whole rebirth thing was just to save MC's dad who is super OP.

The revenge plot seems leaves so much to be desired. It was given up from the gecko the moment they escaped.

I do like the characters, a whole of them. I can feel them with the descriptions and interactions, but just lack detail plots for them which is a shame.

You know overall it was a sweet story that I really do enjoy, and I don't feel much pain except earlier then the rest was really sweet and jittery. It's enjoyable <<less

120 chapters completed. It was a sweet story about war and love and timeliness corrected. It was worth the read. The only issue I had was that the titles of people were so confusing that I couldn't tell if they were talking about another new added person or they were referring to titles. So confusing to the point that I felt the titles could've been omitted. Very frustrating. However, pulling through the titles and all, I loved the end, so sweet.

I like the story building and the characters, however I don't like author's writing style. She likes to info dumps randomly and repeat some of them many times. So many characters mentioned out of blue then never appeared again. The author liked to tell instead of show. Reading this novel is so tedious and tiring. It's like the main plot is only one paragraph while the rest of them are just random characters and informations that have nothing to do with the MC.

Then there's the problem solved in unsatisfied way.... more>> It's like when the character was in a big problem and might died, but then something cliche/random happened and he was saved, but that's it. No follow up after that. It's just like for the convenience of the plot. Many things happened and forgotten. It seemed like the author wanted to flesh out all the characters with all the backstories. Again, it would be better to show than tell most of them, or maybe just tell bit by bit instead of info dumping them and repeat it whenever that character appeared. It made me so frustrated how repetitive it is, please author, you already mentioned it, you don't need to repeat it again and again. It breaks my immersion of reading because of it.

The reviews are high and people said it's good, so I tried to continue and finish it, but that's it?

I feel like the author had a big idea but short on skill to write it. It's a pity for such a novel with good premises. <<less
