OOOOKAAAAYTYTT I honestly dont know how to start this review. I just finished the raws by mtl.

Of all the novels about economic reforms, this is probably one of the stories with realistic situations (mainly about emotional lines and relationships with the people around her). Our MC did start from scratch, by picking up tr*sh and rags. She doesn't have a golden finger nor is she a modern woman of the 2020s or so. MC was in her 30s then got reborn to when she was 13 before her parents died.

Our... more>> MC is a hardworking woman. MC and her parents went to the city to change their lives. Picking up tr*sh, rags, metal scraps, thrown vegetables from the market (made me really sad imagining the people looking at MC's mother picking them up 😭😭😭 but they needed them to eat), until they got the funds to do business. Their first business was selling roasted chestnuts. She studied hard because she knows she doesn't have an OP brain that remembers everything she reads.

At this point, she met her friend that also had a very hard life from her past life. This time she also wanted to change her life for the better. Don't be annoyed to her best friend Liao Zhaodi, she a soft girl 😭.

Spoiler

MC also met our ML in junior high school and he's her seat mate. Introducinggggg.... Classmate Xue Mian! I love how they tease each other with nicknames lmao. XM calls the MC 'Xiao Hei' because MC got tanned from selling popsicles while Su Min calls him 'Xiao Bai' because she sees him as a fair baby boy lmao.

The love line of this novel is really slow taking into consideration that the MC, Su Min, is mentally in her 30s while the current her is 13. She did not fell in love with XM easily. She did not fell in love with XM at 15 or at 18 or even at 20. You could imagine how strained she was when it comes to XM's feelings. She could not reciprocate because she sees him as someone younger than her (remember she met him when they were 13 so her mental image of him will always be the young him). And it does feel immoral thinking about it lmao.

MC took her time. She needs to pass the psychological barrier of being in a relationship with someone younger (though their body age is the same). Keep in mind that Su Min suffered in her past life so she has never considered falling in love. She's basically all for her family that is her father and her mother.

MC and ML's love story is very bumpy. There are a both internal and external factors that hinders them. ML got rejected multiple times but did not give up (he's not the annoying guy that doesn't listen to a woman's 'no'. I can't fully explain it but you will now when you read it.

.

Through the whole story, I noticed our MC being a bit obsessed (not exactly the word I was looking for) with her parents. Understandable because she did not want them to have the same fate from her past life. If anything ever happens to her parents, I think Su Min might self-destruct. Sad but she really can't let go of the only people she cherishes. Also! Her lovely uncle Sun Hai, who gave his savings to his sister ans her family (MC's mom and them) when he knew they were leaving to the city. I CANNOT WITH ALL THESE FAMILY RELATIONSHIPS IT'S BITTERSWEET.

As an Asian person who grew up in a close-knit family, I can really understand how family relationships in the novel works. I have seen people like them in real life, the bad ones and the good one that turned bad. That's why I said it's bittersweet. MC's paternal family is shit. They are so deep into patriarchy. The only grandchild they love is this one grandson that is not up to par and will never be up to par. He grew up spoiled and his parents plus grandparents think that everything the family owns is his and will be his including the MC's family business like WTF. I got so mad every time they appear. The SUFFOCATION is REAL.

Together with this hateful family is the cousin that's equally hateful to the point that if I saw her irl I'd immediately square up. Cousin Su Wenwen, the villain without bottomline. I swear to god this girl can really trigger my fight or FIGHT. There's no flight, if you read the story you'll understand how much I wanna smack this girl's head to a wall countless times. SHE DID NOT GIVE UP MC. She's so evil that hatred after hatred filled her. She grew up spoiled and thinks everything she does is not wrong. Because of this mindset, her family fell. But this does not stopped her till the end. NXOFNSOD OH MY BLOOD PRESSURE EVERY TIME SHE APPEARS! 🤬🤬🤬

I will note these people that are hateful:

1. Su Wenwen

2. Liao Zhaodi's stepbrother

3. Su Cancan & family

4. Su Wenwen's stepdad (i will never forgive peds and groomers)

Anyway enough of them. This story is mainly for MC and the people around her. Nothing OP although she get some help from rich people (her clients). MC opened a high-end custom clothing shop from her own money (selling popsicles and selling her design drawing to a garment factory). You might wonder where did her talent of designing and drawing came from. Nothing, she doesn't have those OP talents. She learned drawing from Classmate XM and she just remembered those clothing that appeared from her previous life (no she did not fully copy them, she incorporated it to the current era's trend). Her high-end clothing store mainly sells traditional clothing. She did enter a university to study fashion design so her experience plus knowledge led her to a solid foundation.

Basically this novel is all about MC, her family, friends, and business. ML is just a cherry on top.

Su Min is one of those girl boss missmaam but you can see her emotions and mental struggles to both her life and relationships.

Spoiler

There's only one extra, about their son lol. ML IS A DOTING FATHER.

I didnt put this down until I finished. Done reading within 2 days.

The story really follows everything that happened to MC from the moment she returned to time until the happy ending. I like that even though the story is long but it really was filled with events/scenes. Its not just filler episodes and forgettable stuff. Everything that happened was an "event". So even if new characters are introduced, they are not forgettable because there is an event/plot scene associated with them/around them. That's why I couldnt put down the... more>> story/book. I was invested lol.

I read the raws so it was a little difficult to make sense of some stuff/translations but the story was still very understandable and I was able to follow through.

There were some authors notes tho, saying that they dont know how to write emotional scenes iirc. So yeah, I didnt cry reading this but I was invested and empathized with the MC. I like that even tho the story revolves around her and you expect a Mary Sue halo on her, its not the annoying kind. If the villains plan to do something to MC they can do it. Once MC finds out it was the villains fault, she tries to retaliate by herself but if she cant, she asks help from someone more powerful. I like that the connections she made with these powerful people are not just "there" for the sake of plot device but the author actually has a back story for them.

Spoiler

Like for ML, he was not just a rich kid who was there conveniently in school, no. He was there in the county and living with his aunt and uncle for a reason that even reaches up to the grandparents generation. I like that

[collapse]

It really makes the MCs character more relatable and you can easily self insert.

I really enjoyed reading this. This was 9/10. Minus 1 point because the author doesnt know how to write emotional scenes and I love a good cry lol. <<less

It’s a 4.5

It’s great novel of from rags to riches. The story progression and pace is well balanced. The FL character and determination is admirable especially since her only gold finger is knowing a bit about the fitire and future trends. The only less well constructed part of the novel is the romance as it is sparse and not well developed.
