Reborn as My Love Rival’s Wife

There once was a very popular question on the internet:

If one morning, you woke up and realized that your gender had changed, what would be your first reaction?

And someone on the internet had famously responded:

First, give your bros a good time!

Su Jian remembered that when he saw this reply, he had slapped the table to express his admiration. What a good bro! Such loyalty!

But now that he actually encountered this strange situation himself, he could only feel an extremely ball-breaking alarm, shocked grief, and frightened anger. f*ck your mom! Ah, f*ck! f*ck it!

Oh, a correction. The above is grammatically incorrect. After all, poor Classmate Su Jian doesn’t have balls anymore.

This is my favorite novel!! I re-read it all the time. It has great humor and the correct amount of time for the ML and MF to fall for each other. Considering the MF used to be a man I really like how the romance is slow, but not to slow

Absolutely fulfilling to read. The interactions between our beloved MC and ML are gold! Even the MC leaves the readers speechless at her imagination and sentences.

Their love developement is steadily paced and doesn't feel rushed at all. They don't fall in love because of looks but through the interchanges that they have, you could actually see the development in their feelings.

Would highly recommend if you need many great fluffs to soothe your aching heart.

Like others, I was actually hesitant to read this at first. But somehow...I was really glad I gave it a try! I’m not usually giving out reviews, but I think that giving this a review is truly worth my time.

This story is so full of fluff and love, I just can’t get enough! It’s such a cute story that I wish I could read it till the End!

I cant wait for the moment when Su Jian realises his feelings <3333

This is one of the best stories in its class~

The romance is sweet and well developed and there's good consideration into the psychology of a guy who died and ended up reviving within the body of a woman.

The MC is a precious bean and stands out in his own personality and quirks while having the abilities and interest common to many Chinese men.

The ML, despite being a CEO, is not like the domineering, cold and harassing type you often see when it comes to CEO guys in Cnovels. He's considerate of MC's feelings and when things go off kilter he will communicate or extend an olive branch, and MC does the same. They're human though so when they run into issues there's some tension and avoidance but they will clear it up. This is a large part of why I enjoy this novel as a contrast to the heaps of stories where the couple can't communicate for jack and the rich, powerful male romantic partner is a huge, cliche'd jerk that always stomps over his partner's boundaries. <<less

MUST READ. I love this novel so much. It is rather light, there’s not much drama and it is very funny.

At first, I was hesitant to read it because of the gender bender tag but after reading the other reviews where people had the same mindset as me enjoyed it, I thought I should give it a try. And yes I never regretted that. This novel is very deserving of its current reviews!!

As like the other reviewers, even if you don’t like the gender bender stories, this story is really... more>> good and very funny. It lights up one’s day when feeling low. <<less

Here comes the worst part about any story you like, I'm of course talking about when you fully catch up. At least with this story, The Translator seems to update a fair amount.

I really like his story. Which is weird cause I normally can't stand Female romances and especially ones from China. I've noticed in my journey of reading LN and Manga's, Is that most Chinese and especially Chinese novels with female MC's, They'll always have a romance and most of the time the Romance is awful and forced. Thankfully... more>> with this story, It seems the complete opposite.

I actually like the romance of this a lot. I don't find the Male love interest obnoxious, Annoying or a bore. I feel bad for him that his love interest is actually an airhead in a funny way.

The MC's is easily the best part, He makes me laugh a ton. I always imagine him with a big ass smile on his face with his eyes wide open with pinpoint pupils that you see in Japanese Anime.

I like the start where there was actually some impact to people hearing the MC has amnesia.

Thankfully at chapter 60 or so, The romance is finally starting to pick up. I thought for sure this would take a long time till we got the romance actually going.

I do feel bad for the original host of the body. I'm assuming she's dead or is just a ghost and is following the MC (That is now in her body) around and getting annoyed or laugh at this dudes misfortune. Would love to see a story from that POV. Even if it's kind of weird. I hope the original host comes back. Maybe like the MC and the love interest has a baby together and the original host's soul is put inside the baby while keeping the memories. That would be funny in my opinion. I just imagine the MC being yelled at by his own baby for being a body snatcher and stealing the babies original body. I find that idea hilarious. Would be kind of weird being reborn and your new mother is actually your own body but with some dude that died in a car crash with you now controlling the body.

Overall, This is an amazing story and I just wished we had another 60 chapters already. Even though I don't like doing it. I might just go and use Google Translate and read the Raws. <<less

This is the best. At first, I was kind of hesitating to read this. And I'll have to admit, it bored me at first, but after the two chapters, I got hooked into it. This became my favorite novel, and I would always start my day by looking if it had new updates. I always love main characters who have this kind of attitude, it's like having an idiotic friend through a novel, you could always relate and have a laugh from every thing they say, think, or do. I... more>> also died from laughing, and if I could, I'd like to read it all from the start all over again.

You definitely won't regret reading this! If you want some good laugh, hurry up because you're missing out! Also, I feel sad for An Yize. It's like that trope of being perfect, rich, and handsome, though the only thing is that the ones he love wouldn't love him back : (

I can't wait for that to change though! Every chapter literally makes me laugh, because of our protagonist [heroine] Su Jian's actions and thinking! Su Jian's really one of the characters I really love in this story. <<less

There was this part where the ML already fell in love with the MC. The MC was drunk and he said "I love you" to ML. The ML was very moved to the point where he reminisced his past about proposing to a girl he has been waiting for 20 years and got rejected. He was so heartbroken blah blah and now he knows how it feels when your love is reciprocated. And then suddenly the MC said "I love you, Mom" AHAHAHAHAHA that was f*cking hilarious

[collapse]

There are really no amazing plot twists here and there, just a man who slowly learns how to adopt being a girl - which includes loving a man, the ML of course.

And the epilogue is full of fluff and s*x. <<less

At first I thought it's just a fluffy Chinese type of genderbend, but after reading it I can't STOP! The misunderstanding between the MC and the Male lead was too funny in a cute way. The translation was great although there are many Chinese slang but bearable. The plot was unique, and I honestly think this is a good novel. If you're looking for romance/ comedy light novel then read it. It'll give you diabetes. You'd been warned. 5 starts!

1/5. I'm so disappointed.

I agree with Yeehaw's one-star review. How does this book have such a high rating? It's so bland. The ML seems like a good person deserving of love. However, the MC's actions feel childish for a man in his 20s. If there were enough info about him as a male SJ, his s*upidity or childishness might have some explanations. The romance is slow burn but not in a good way. I read so many chapters, but nothing stood out as memorable. I ended up skipping chapters straight... more>> to the snu snu scenes. And I'm dropping it at 66. Supposedly, there's comedy in it based on the reviews, but it lacks depth that I didn't find any. You might as well go watch *Mr. Queen*, which is how this concept should be done. I prefer reading over watching since discovering this site, but this is the first novel that makes me think otherwise. <<less

Spoiler

the first two times the MC/ML have s*xual contact MC is under the influence and not able to consent; it really mild for the genre but worth noting (imho opinion the worst thing about it is we get a little ML pov after the first time and he 'held himself back' and 'only' did intercrural s*x instead of penetrative and trying to baby trap MC like he wanted to... like still need consent buddy, but good job I guess? Like don't try to justify it I am already on board the fantasy train, but this brings in a logic that doesn't hold up in in the smut/romance novel universe where sometimes no does mean yes; like if you know x is wrong, how come you still did x hmm? Takes me right out of it a little

[collapse]

MC I mostly like, but he gives off kind incel-y vibes and was hoping he would go through some emotional/character growth through his feminine experiences, but we don't really get much beyond having being a woman is hard.

There's some problematic stuff with the MC on living life as a lesbian or transitioning ftm, but nothing too too offensive
Spoiler

MC just basically dismisses these outright bc how he explain it his family/the body's family and would that just kill the MC's body's sick mother

[collapse]
I feel like this genre often has some questionable to downright incorrect views on how gender, sexuality, and gender identity interact/work, but is usually accompanied by some poignant points about gender and love or evoke a different or interesting way to thinking about them. So I can't a lot of that in stride, but his novel didn't really have much to say beyond the sense of humor of a 'delicate girl' subverting expectations with 'her' behavior/actions and realising or forming a singleur 'same'-s*x attraction for ML. But it was still a pretty fun romp

One other little rant is that the author infuriatingly brings up in the narrative of MC briefly considering gender confirmation surgery that MC shouldn't alter the female body he entered in case the original owner of that body is still around either like him stuck in a body that isn't his or floating about in the ether- AND then never mentions or explores this possibility again like what?! If you are not going to go there and just want to use this whole body swap thing as a premise for a gender bent romance then don't bring it up??? Like now I am expecting MC having had this thought to at least do some due-diligence and like seek out some spiritualist quacks to try to confirm or check out this theory, but nothing of the sort happens. The assumption we are supposed to make is that original owner is dead like MC was supposed to be, but the original owner only broke her leg ? There was no 'logical' moment given where as the reader you are like 'oh yes here where the MC's original body flat lined; the original owner's body also flat lined, but only one body was resuscitated and given the proximity/time/fate/etc the wrong soul was s**ked back from the edge of the abyss'. Like even a line just saying 'oh, don't sue us for malpractice but there was a problem with the anesthesia and you briefly flat lined during surgery' would have been enough to make me feel secure about this.

I feel sad for the original owner who know one will never know is gone. MC doesn't even have a moment of sadness thinking that she died instead of him. Even when visiting the original owner's parents he doesn't have a moment where he is like it is sad they don't there daughter is dead/gone. He just takes filial responsibility by pretending to be her/'that he doesn't have "amnesia"'. This sadness is made worse when in the extras
Spoiler

MC reveals the truth to his birth family that he is not really dead and we get there happy reunion, which I really wanted, but it is made bittersweet because his birth mother is revealed to be the original owner's mother's long lost bestie and the two families reconnect- but now it is like everyone is in the know and happy to have their son back/the daughter they never had- except the original owner's mother and her partner who they are now keeping this secret from. Ouch.

Su Jian woke up in a female body. There's no other way to say it than straight to the point. And to take things up to another level, the female body is married to his love rival.

I usually avoided gender-bender tag because, for me, it's weird. In this story, An Yizhe doesn't even know that his wife's soul is swapped with a male soul. All he knows, she lost her memory after the accident, and her personality changed 180 degrees. She's no longer this reserved ladylike wife but more outgoing and blunt.

But, there's something about this story that made me change my mind. Su Jian was funny. She (he) took things one step at a time and wasn't annoying. At first, she (he) looked at An Yizhe as an enemy but grew to like him because it's not his fault if women fall for him left and right. Su Jian came to realize that she (he) may not be the typical male lead but she (he) 's the female lead who got the male lead. And she (he) got the male lead wrapped around her little finger.

If I have one thing to say its the most wonderful novel I've ever read, do not mind Gendbend Tags, that make this work more interesting, its unique I don't know how writer able to produce the psychological of being male and female and I think that's what make it interesting, how su jian able to overcome the obstacle called gender and the character development of each person is perfect if by my standard, I hope I can have felling of reading it for the first time sadly I can't

One of the most refreshing novels I have ever read!

This novel basically had no special plot except for how MC gradually adapted to his new identity. But it certainly did its best to portrait the normal behavior of a guy who suddenly turned into a girl. The dialogues that only ran inside MC's brain were hilarious. As for cons, this almost had no schemes which made the novel a bit dull. Personally I also think the author should have let the ML know the truth as well.

Almost all the characters... more>> were lovely darlings with the exception of love rivals.

I'm not really sure about romance during the first part but during the later part, the story between MC and ML became sweet.

I think I laughed in every chapter XD. MC is really funny. There is little angst but they are not that complex which is less stressful to read.

this story is full of classic melodramatic romance cliches that can boring, but it being from the point of view of a figurative and literal straight man is why it works so well. It's not meant to be taken seriously but I'm going to anyways. everything Su Jian does can be read as purposely dense but, like the author had to point out, he doesn't start to change his perspective until half way thru bc he doesn't expect to stay in the situation long term. He's just trying to survive... more>> so he can move on with his life. And from the other character's povs his actions can be read as an pure innocent girl, which is why her friend didn't think she changed bc of the accident, but bc of yixe. For such an over the top guy, jian is surprisingly one of the most grounded out of everyone bc he is operating by different rules than them. Everyone is a stereotype and he's the only one that sees how ridiculous they are. Jian seeing himself as man is why the humor of him being dense works better than it ever would if he was just another female lead. It would just be another romcom.

for what it's worth, I think the way he came to terms with his feelings was done well enough. Sexuality is a spectrum for some people. Sometimes you find someone opposite your perceived sexuality. While it could definitely be considered tired, the "expection" isn't that much of an unrealistic trope used just to move the plot along at all. That being said, I can see why it wouldn't be liked. It seems like it was done in good faith tho as the author made it clear that it would be mlm if the set up wasnt the way it is. <<less

Funny. Simple. Easy to read.

Like the author said, this is not a dogblood story, it's more of a comedy and 2 people coming together.

There are still exciting moments but they're not exactly the focus of the story.
