Ji Qingzhou crossed into a book of dogblood s*um and ab*se. There were two choices in front of him.

A: Choose the genuine slag Gong in the original book, and start a sadistic and abusive romance with Fang Yaoxuan filled with domestic ab*se, a dead mom, and leaving the entertainment circle.

B: Choose the cannon fodder Villain, Chu Cheng, and be free of the slag Gong forever.

Ji Qingzhou wordlessly chose B without a second thought.

Chu Cheng was of distinguished birth and became the head of a popular company at a comparatively young age. He had seen many beauties in the entertainment circle but just happened to be fond of Ji Qingzhou.

A friend asked him, “Do you like this little star?”

Chu Cheng shook his head. “No, just playing with him.”

Outside the door, Ji Qingzhou nodded. Yes, that was what the book said.

A few months later, Ji Qingzhou was walking away while answering the phone, when he overheard someone saying, “Ji Qingzhou? Oh, Chu Cheng is just playing with him. Once he’s played enough, they’ll split.”

Ji Qingzhou was just about to nod, but then he heard Chu Cheng’s furious reply: “Nonsense! Which bastard told you that! Doesn’t he know that those who disturb a marriage will be kicked by a horse!”

Ji Qingzhou: ??? Wait, no, this is not what the book said!

I rated this 4/5 (the rating kinda f**ked up a lil bit when I tap it) because by the end my interest in this novel sort of dropped a bit.

I will say this one: it's an interesting novel for sure. For those whose bored of Yandere ML, this is for you.

The MC is quite independent. He understands the underlying rules that's in the industry when you don't have strong enough backer. The ML as his backer is sort of doesn't care about MC much that he doesn't really looking out... more>> to MC 24/7 (understandable as they're just in contractual relationship and doesn't care about each other much). Later on, the MC got quite dependent on ML because he's the first person he met in this world when he arrive, and because of their situation in their contract. However when he realized that his feelings gonna go out of the term in contract,
Spoiler

and the ML reject him

[collapse]
, he started to distancing himself from ML.

Later on, he got so independent it's so amazing. It's also quite touching.
Spoiler

Protagonist (Fang Yaoxuan) tried to r*pe him in his room while they're filming the same movie, right after MC broke up with ML, and because the difference in strength is a lot, MC couldn't do much about it. So left with no choice, he stab Fang Yao using a hand knife in his stomach and then went to his agent room to call an ambulance. He was so ready to go to the jail because of that as he doesn't have backer at that time and Fang can pressure him even if the fact is the other way around. He told everyone he knew to not tell Chu Cheng (ML) about it as he's ready to bear the responsibility of his actions. However ML got the wind of it and decided to help him because he himself wasn't ready to see MC went too far away from himself. It's really touching as you can see it like a child who broke up from their parents, tried their best to be strong and be responsible for whatever they did, and finally found a strong anchor in the middle of it all.

[collapse]

Later on their relationship progress, but as it reached chapters 150 up, I felt quite bored so I just really wanted it to be done soon.

So 4/5 for me. <<less

My verdict: The perfect fluffy, light-hearted novel for your reading pleasure. Bonus! Includes the healthiest relationship of all healthy relationships.

Rating? 4.7-5.0/5.0

The MC, for one, is very likeable. He can make decisions, and act accordingly. He's not one of those dumb, weak, naive MCs who can't do shit. Nor is he super scheming and acting. The MC is like your average college street-smart graduate, except for the fact that he's a little more talented and smarter than most. He is level-headed, and honestly, for once, actually completely tells the fake ML... more>> and his white lotus to f*ck off, and exposes the white lotus, too. He's not afraid to speak his mind and doesn't keep it all bottled up inside, like some MCs. I had absolutely no problems with the way the author characterized him--never was there a moment where I frowned at something he did.

The ML, too, is very very good. He's got some nice facets to his personality and is very doting even before they get together. He's very well off, and has his own income, but like a tamed version of the overbearing CEO. You never really get that 'overlord' vibe from him. He's also not an iceberg. Although he starts off condescending, it's only for a very very brief moment (due to the former-cheap-shou-MC's actions). Otherwise, even before he comes to like the MC, he is very respectful. He's not yandere, or obsessive at all (sorry to all of you expecting that), although he does get jealous when MC is with other people he views as possible love interests.

The story is sort of your standard, but very well done. There are no plot holes, or excessive dog blood drama (although there is a bit of angst before the ML fully comes to terms with his feelings). It's overall very loving, and a good fluffy read. The author, too, is a good writer. She fleshes out the characters out pretty well, even some of the side characters, later on, and honestly, the only true villains are the fake ML and his white lotus. Everyone else is generally supportive, over time, and the ML's friends are a nice bunch. The banter between the ML and MC too, is actually quite hilarious sometimes. Between other characters, too, I had several good laughs.

The plot isn't that complicated. In its essence, this is a good standard read. Nothing too new, nothing out of the blue, but it's a very well done version of a common sort of storyline. It doesn't require extreme investment, either.

Also, you know those novels, where the side characters have their own interesting stories going on, but the author never elaborates? And you just really want to know their development too? WELL FEAR NOT. The author has EXTENDED extras at the end for both the Tang Yu/Ying Nian storyline and the Lian Jingxing/An Yi (or sth) storyline, and it did not leave me disappointed.

The ending for the fake ML and his white lotus is satisfying, too. In the end, the white lotus becomes the substitute in the Fang Xuan's heart. The positions had officially become reversed, and the white lotus realizes he really should stop playing people. He gets his just desserts. To think even in this new world, he was still planning to force MC's 'mom' to su*cide. Smh buddy, smh.

If there are two tiny problems, then:

  1. I wish I could've read more Luo Yuxin/Fang Xuanxuan (fake ML and white lotus) ab*se. Man, their story could be a whole-ass ab*se dog-drama with Bad Ending and I'd read it. Was sorta wishing I could've read more because the tables turned. FXX threw away his doggo-for-white-lotus persona and became cruel and overbearing, after being made aware of how much LY scammed him, and LY became 'obedient' and forced to act as a lover so that he can get resources again. Of course, FXX never gonna let him. Ugh, we barely got half a chapter on that. I WANTED MOAR.
  2. I only really grew really interested in some of the side characters after reading their specific extras. I wish I'd read the extras first so I'd have appreciated them more in the main story. Honestly, because the side-character ML Yao something was honestly just so kind and gentle and just such a good friend overall. Lian Jingxing, too, I didn't know he was such a charming character. He was like a very cute black-bellied-but-not-yandere ML with An Yi. Shame...
NOTE: THIS NOVEL IS VERY EASY TO MTL. I MTL'ed basically the whole thing. <<less

This novel is really good so far even if I have only read up to chapter 7. It's full of misunderstandings because if where in the novel's timeline the MC was transmigrated in. It's really sweet so far and the MC is so naive. He's not a protagonist with a lot of skills, he just stumbles his way through the plot.

Just made this review as a note for my current reading progress (since I tend to forget books that I still haven't finished when I jumped to another one lol).

I'm still on chapters wherein both MC and ML isn't still clear of their feelings and still making ways to deny that their actually DEVELOPING feelings for each other. OwO

I'm not still clear of the name of the s*um guy who caused the Ji QingZhou of the book to die and his mother to ccommit sui-----cide, but on what I was... more>> reading he was called Fang YiXuan/YuXuan. <<less

➺ 3.75/5 🌟

This is another showbiz/entertainment danmei, but this novel focused more on the romance/relationship side of the story than the actual showbiz itself. Unlike any other showbiz danmei I've read before, the process of filming the movie or TV shows here wasn't as detailed, expect for the variety shows where the MC, ML and other characters are acting as themselves. This made it more character driven because of that.

This has a contractual relationship as a trope. The MC agreed to be the ML's kept lover as a payment for... more>> his debt but despite that, they have a very fluffy and sweet relationship. Even though it's part of the contract for them to be sexually involve with each other, the ML never forced the MC in any way. It even ended up with ML not daring to go beyond kissing and hugging because he cared about the MC's future relationship after their contract expired.

The MC realized his feelings first but since he's aware that he can't fall in love with the ML, he wasn't really expecting his feelings to be reciprocated. He only took advantage of their contract of being intimate with each other to convey his feelings but didn't dare to confess. He even try to offer himself to the ML, which is originally part of their contract, to indirectly show his feelings but the ML refused to take his first time. In MC's perspective, that refusal served as the ML's rejection.

ML, on the other hand, is slow with his feelings. He knew that the MC was getting more special for him the more they spend their time together but he never associated it with love. He strictly stuck with their one year agreement and thought that even if they part ways, they could still maintain their friendship. He never thought that even though they parted ways peacefully, both of them could feel the emptiness in their heart.

There's a short, slight angst in the story but this is mostly fluffy, funny and lighthearted. So much dogfood in this novel, which is very satisfying. There are also a few side couples and a lot of very likeable side characters. Also, the title might include 'reborn', but it's more of a transmigration so don't be misled. Very recommended! <<less

I really like the novel and its relationships! I loved the relationship between the MC and ML, their banter is so funny and I really enjoyed how they interacted. The story is just as described in the summary so if you like the summary you should enjoy the story as well. I also loved the side stores of the secondary relationships in this universe - I though it was all very cute! I gave this a 4 instead of 5 though because I felt that the pacing dragged on in... more>> the last arc of the story and it would've been better off if the story ended earlier. I did end up re-reading part of the story because I took a break and will likely re-read again! <<less

I completed the story, didn’t read the extras (ch.168+) though because it’s not finished translated. I personally really like this trope and dynamic. Even though the story is not perfect, and some part of development feels lacking, I really enjoy the dynamic between the couple. ML is such a greenflag sugar daddy that it feels both adorable and dumb and mildly frustrating. MC is strong, rational, reasonably calm but also sensitive.I agree with Pandachi review. Honestly I would give this 4.5/5, but I’ll add 0.5 more because I’m into this... more>> kind of story. <<less

What can I say? If you don't understand boundaries, don't read this novel.

It's a slow burn love story about a transmigrated sugar baby that wanna be a actor and pay his bills, and a CEO sugar daddy that just wanna have some companionship, doesn't know about love and it's learning in snail pace, so if you wanna smut or lots of face slapping and drama, please don't read.

It's really a good way to understand that what you want, and what you get, it's intertwine, like the MC is just hope... more>> to live a good life at the beginning and pay his mother's medical bills, but as the story goes, he develops and think about what he needs to be with the ML, and he knows that just accepting everything that trows at him, like the role that director gives him, isn't good, 'cause if he does the role, he can get mentally ill and he puts him first and the needs to be with ML second, and ML agrees with him. Because love and boundaries it's what a relationship that lasts needs. So good and heartwarming to read... Hope more people gets.

PLEASE DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T HAVE MATURE THINKING OR UNDERSTANDING OF BOUNDARIES. THIS IS NOT A SOAP OPERA. BYE! <<less

It's a sweet story. I liked the interactions between the MC and ML (and between the other characters as well). I didn't think the romance was slow. Yes, it took quite a while for them to be official but they acted romantic towards each other very early on (even if they were in denial).

My only gripe is that the MC doesn't really solve his problems on his own. ML finds out about his problems and solves them for him so a lot of the conflict in the story is resolved... more>> fairly easily. This doesn't mean MC is weak or anything, he does try! ML just likes him too much for him to suffer.

And generally, I don't care too much for fluffy novels but the relationship between the two was a good balance of being sweet, funny, sad, and a little black-belly. <<less

A pretty nice, calm slice-of-life story, with a dash of dog blood. Got a bit tedious towards the second half, once the original novel's conflict points were resolved. The characterization is somewhat missing; it's hard to imagine what any of the characters do outside of their on-screen time. The relationship between ML and MC is pretty fluffy and sugar coated.

One of my favourite novels. Have reread it multiple times. Be warned, it's extremely slow burn... And the lead couple is not perfect. But they are one of the most likeable and realistic couples I've met in BL books.

The translation quality is also high. Recommend 👍

first, the male lead's immature and slow comprehension was maddening. This type of story was done before, almost cliche, but sill it brought in some fresh perspective. It was a bit silly, considering it's a bit shallow but shows some depth from time to time. The interaction between the MC and ML was worth it, it was cute and sassy. There was not much drama involved just simple play of emotion which worked well with this story.",)

Chu Cheng is dumb as hell but also I am in love with him.

Seriously joking aside, his respect for his partner's wants (to the point of waaaaay overthinking) is really admirable and he's very adorable in love, I was very charmed by his character. And MC is a very chill kinda dude, which I tend to like also. I can relate to his go with the flow attitude towards life, it's relatable to me so I can't help but like him.

Also, I see some people had pacing issues, but personally... more>> I did not. I tend to like slice of life and relaxed stories, so this was perfectly fine for me. It was much, much more laidback than some novels that go plot beat for plot beat without any breaks. Which again, I am totally fine with. Docking a star just because I wasn't really interested in/enthralled by the villains or the conflicts outside of the main couple, it was all window dressing to me. The relationship was the focal point. <<less

Idk. This has been on my reading list for a very long time now and I only read about 126 chapters.

In those chapter I have vague recollection as I re read again for the 3rd time. Yea, I also can't believe im re reading it im the 3rd time. But each time I find the convo of the ML and MC boring. It's not engaging.

There's some interesting plot but whenever the two leads having convo I don't feel anything. In simpler terms, I dont feel their chemistry.

I keep on... more>> re reading this over and over again to give chance but now im on my 3rd (currently at c40) it still the same first time I read it, I felt nothing.

BUT! There are some parts that was good interactions between the ML and MC. One of the reason why I reach 144 chaps 😭

I do like the plot tho. A LOT. <<less

Kinda wholesome romance. Face-slapping was satisfying for me. MC is not OP but ML is. But this is not to say MC doesn’t fight back in his own way. Verbally, he does often. Physically, he does twice and they were awesome to be honest.

I like both MC and ML’s characters. They’re very mature yet playful/flirtatious. I also like the main female character here. I thought for sure she was going to fall down the ‘b*tchy love rival in a BL’ trope but no, she was awesome. I was very endeared... more>> by her and was happy she got her own happy ending.

Overall, recommend this to people looking for a good romance and fluffy story with conflicts that is resolved pretty quickly. <<less

The story is okay, I mean I finished it :) I would never finish a story that isn't good.

Plotwise, I liked it till the MC and ML got together. You got the sugar and a short, slight angst.

... more>> Slow romance, for me it's okay but sometimes I just want to slap the dense ML to wake him up, really. It may not be everyone's cup of tea. Though I do like his character.

Honestly, I feel like I'm more invested in the side CP (both the bent and straight) but it was also good that it started and ended as a short story in the extras.

For the translation, it got better as the chapter goes, though I don't know if it's dropped? MTL was as easy to read, but didn't quite catch the jokes.

All in all, I guess it was a good read? Not great but good enough <<less

I had high expectations since I had just finished the author’s other work “I am the villian’s father”, which I absolutely loved. This started off okay and I liked the interactions between them but gradually the plot went haywire after they officially got together. It felt like the author was writing just for the sake of adding in words and the events really had no meaning to them. For the people saying it’s too slow, I disagree, I felt like they were progressing at a realistic level at first and... more>> then in the later third of the story things were getting resolved in like 2 chapters. I did enjoy the first half of the story though, and I think the author just got pressured to keep churning out chapters in the later parts. <<less

This is such a lovely love story, really makes you root for the characters!

Might be a bit slow at times, yes, but that's the charm and the whole point of this novel. A slow and thorough relationship between the MC and ML to build a rock solid foundation for their love.

The MC might come across as passive, or docile, but he isn't. He can and will smash tou to smithereens if he feels so inclined, but he usually doesn't want to cause trouble, since the entertainment circle is such a... more>> complicated environment to navigate.

The ML is and is not your typical President. He does take care of the MC, but only when he really needs it, doesn't intervene in his life unnecessarily.

All in all, until now, this novel is 100% woth reading if you like fluffy love stories with some villain comeuppance and some face slapping sprinkled in for flavour. <<less

I don’t really know why everyone didn’t like ML but for me ML n MC are the best and for the romance, I didn’t even felt that it’s slow which rare as I’m rather impatient is this case.

Both MC n ML fall for each other slowly with time. There’s no forced relationship.

The interactions between them are really cute.

I like this novel.

The romance on this is slow but understandable since MC and ML has a 1 year contract.

There is no mental ab*se here. The contract they have was agreed by both parties. And take note, ML didnt do it with MC for the whole year. ML dotes on MC but in his mind set, it is normal as a backer but, heck.. even his friends dont believe his bullsh*t lol. His brother have to remind him that he could fall but ML always said that he wont.... more>> Which became a big face slap to him and a black history. His friends even tease him about it in the future. lol.

There are lots of chapters made me cry, specially months before they end their contract and after that. The story of MC's friend Ying Nian also breaks my heart. But what I like about MC and YN, they are strong willed.

Spoiler

I really feel sad for MC cause he fell in love before their contract expires. He cannot let ML know his feelings cause he agreed not to fall. He had lots of bitter moments.

What I like about MC, he is a strong and rational person. When he ask ML to do it cause he wants his first with ML, ML rejected him, ML doesnt want to take advantage of him. MC cried the next day but then resolutely decides to hide his feelings. 2months before their contract expires, he decided to rent a house for himself in Ying Nians community without telling ML. He started to limit their intimate action.

The day their contract expires, ML bought an apartment for him then gave him a house key. He accepted it but ML found out when he came back home that MC didn't bring it. MC left all the things ML gave him, the house key and even the car key. He just kept the bottle of stars and the jade necklace.

After end of contract, ML encountered the biggest face slap. ML found that MC rented an apartment 2months ago without telling him. He have too much complicated feelings. He still want to be friends with MC and care for him but MC clearly tell him that he is an independent person and could take care of himself. MC doesnt want ML to care for him cause he decided to move on. This part of the novel made me cry multiple times.

I really like MLs friends, they made him realize that he really love MC even from the beginning. They are very supportive of this couple.

After too much drama, (yes, they encountered lots of hurt and pain, they lost contact for almost 3months and the Fang crazy sh*t bastard made an attempt to harm MC), MC and ML starts to have a proper relationship which made everyone relieved (their friends and colleagues cant believe that they "broke up". I pity the friends cause they ate too much dog food lol.

They often tease ML by telling MC what MLs life after they separate. He has lots of black history and face slap. A friend told him in their group chat " I knew you like him but you are just being s*upid". His friends really are funny.

Before they officially came out, MC confess his biggest secret. Yes! He told ML that he transmigrated! Since they are in a proper relationship, he knew that they should trust each other and be honest with one another.

Im glad that the parents on both sides didnt make it hard for them.

Another character I like in this novel is Ying Nian, he has a very bitter life but optimistic and supportive to MC. His ex boyfriend cheated on him multiple times and when they break up, the ex doesnt accept it. The ex keeps pestering him. His story is very sad, they are together for almost 8 years, he had hopes that they will end together but his efforts are wasted. He is a very caring friend of MC and hopes that MC not to encounter the same mess he have with his previous relation ship.

He once told MC "dont show the other person that you love them so much.... They will took your feelings for granted. "

When ML and MC got together Ying Nian believe that if his friend found his happy ending, he will also get it if he work hard.

Im glad he found love with one of MLs friend.

[collapse]

It maybe slow at the beginning. But I recommend to read this novel <<less
