Please (Ye You) MC is soooo smart. Like there's Plan A (where the elders hit his death point) and if Plan A failed then there's Plan B (where Miracle Doctor Fang will hit his deathpoint) if Plan B failed, its okay cause there is Plan C (Wei Jin [captain of "Moon Shadow"] will hit his death point) . Like ooof man, MC really was well prepared to get his revenge on his family slaughter. He is sooo badass. I totally am going to worship this handsome, clever MC. 😩🔥

Please the twist at the last few chapters got me sh00k. Like bruhhhhhh MC just exposing everyone's identity, even himself. Bruh I swear this plot twist and storyline is soo freaken well written and sooo good. Respect for the Author man. The Author really planned this whole story very well. I was very surprised. I also love how MC helped other people get their revenge too. 💝😊 There wasn't really much character development for MC and ML because this story focus more on revenge and also MC has already turn into a powerful person so there shouldn't be much character development in this novel. This is also another reason I love MC because he is super OP. 😚 I think the only development was the romance between MC and ML and how MC open up to ML about his feelings and so on

There were cute couple moments about MC and ML but there really wasn't much as I wanted but it was fine because this story is a revenge story and should focus more on it. The romance was just the sub plot I guess.

The only thing I could say about the plot and story was that it was really well written and the Author planned the whole novel very well and I liked it very much. <<less

First of all, I must say that the translator is amazing. Not only was the translation good, but the notes were detailed, and the comments were really cute. So thank you! ❤ About the novel: It was quite good. This is a story about revenge; the story line is interesting, and there are a few unexpected plot twists. Despite the novel being about revenge and having a heavy and serious plot, I had too much fun while reading it. I laughed too many times, and all because of side characters who... more>> have questionable IQs. Their way of thinking is peculiar. I know that MC is too clever, and it is hard to guess what he is thinking about or why he is doing certain things, but the demonic sect members were too hilarious. Their conjectures are hilarious.

I loved both MC and ML; their relationship was sweet and not toxic. They truly care and, at the same time, love to tease each other. The story is mainly focused on the investigation, but there are many romantic scenes too.

In my opinion, it is light reading. I think the author deliberately chose to write many funny situations so as not to make the story too heavy and hard to read because many characters had a truly tragic past, but it wasn't to the point where it was impossible to read. The novel was well balanced, and the plot was fast paced. In short, it is a really nice story worth reading. <<less

    she is literally so evil she wanted to destroy the MC face and then like omg all this cos the one she was crushin on AKA the ML rejected her and showed more affection towards fhe MC so fked up fr I wanted her to get killed in the novel asap but the author kept dragging her till the end urgh but at least her face got destroyed DESERVED. HA.

The plot and its tropes aren't anything new, but its done really well. What kept me reading was the mystery aspect (the typical "who done it?") and then how everything would play out. Amnesia is often done terribly but this was well thought out and served a purpose.

The characters are on the flat side, but enjoyable. I wish I got to see more from before the book starts. But it would have ruined the set up the author did, and made me like it less.

I didn't expect to read an engaging story when I began.

The story is good, if you love wuxia or love reading about schemes it will be perfect. I think I understand why some people didn't like it : it's because it's a cerebral story. There is a lot of logic and explanation. I personnally had fun reading them since I love political schemes but it's not for everyone.

The love between the MC and ML is totally healthy, it was a nice change from some novels. And even if others people... more>> fell for one or the other we didn't get dogblood drama.

Actually the drama was all around the revenge trope, I like it better than having dogblood drama about the relationship.

Seriously it's a good novel, I totally recommend it ! <<less

To tell you the truth, I LOVE THIS NOVEL!

I like how the story flows, how the characters developed and introduced in more details. The way when author shows us each time a new piece of information is really good here. I didn’t feel to overwhelmed by the story. It was just the perfect pace of developing the plot.

The characters are so good! I love almost every one of them. They nicely explained during the story and when you, as a reader, start to understand them more and more its so... more>> intriguing.

I was satisfied with the story, characters, romance and plot development pace. The ending was also quite nice. I definitely will read it again. <<less

Great story, I had a lot of fun reading it. It's an epic revenge story with lots of twists. MC is soooo OP (which I really loved!) and very smart. He led the plot the whole way, dragging everyone along with him and kept everyone guessing. Very mischievous and charming MC. All the demonic sect masters/ elders are so funny (lol).

ML is sweet & very supportive but character development-wise, it's kinda flat. Translation is good but you might have to be patience in the beginning as the plot builds.

READ FROM SHRIMP CHIPS ONLY.

i was confused about what was happening and almost gave up reading this novel bc I read first few chapters from the previous translator.

I later realised that other updates were from shrimp chips so I gave it a try and now I'm crying bc I've finished reading this novel. I can only say that this was absolutely wonderful. The mystery and the whole journey was intriguing and obviously such wonderful characters?? All of them except the enemies.

Pros :

MC and ML chemistry is one of the best. They give off an old married couple vibe. And them teasing each other is so cute.

The phasing is great. Just when the tension is high, the author ease it with some sprinkle of comedy.

... more>> The villain, well I have mixed feelings about them. Kinda wish the author write them better. On the other hand, the twist is good. It's giving me MDZS at the temple scene where the villain is mixing with the good guys vibe.

Cons :

Need quite a lot of juice brain to unravel the mystery. But it's more of a light read compared to other revenge novels. <<less

Absolutely brilliant... loved it... a great read... beautifully crafted plot... excellent charcoal... everyone was good... it's one of the best books I have read till now... thanks to the author and the translator for bringing us this piece of gem...

Lightning fast witty MC and rigidly polite ML. What's interesting about these two?

The MC is the Demonic Sect Leader but he's also the ML's trustworthy shidi. He's an A grade troll, you're gonna love him. He has a revenge plot 10 years in the making but also a dark spot in the history between him and his beloved. The ML is the rigid Sect Leader of the orthodox path whose hearts only moves for his shidi.

See now? These two together? The villains are quaking in their boots! Honestly, these two... more>> are such a power couple, but the villain is also smart so the protagonists never feel overpowered like in other novels, never boring.

What to look forward the most in this novel? The plot. The puzzle. The unmasking and re-masking of everything you thought you knew for certain. Ye You's beautiful hyper galaxy brain. This novel is Agatha Christie's level of puzzle complexity, but with an actual loveable cast of characters.

I wished the narration was more balanced, especially for the scarcity of descriptions or smooth transitions, but the complexity of the plot more than makes up for it. The romance proceeds well enough.

Read it. Read it for Ye You's chef's kiss galaxy brain. <<less

Not really spoiler spoiler, but the big reveal of the main villain is nonchalantly revealed when talking to someone, because imo, I really thought they are gonna keep the suspense and when it's at the peak, big-grand-reveal and also satisfying climax. But nope.

But then, I saw this story onl got a 4.4 star which quite wtf for me. So yey, 5 stars it is. But hey, a lot of review here already pointed out why this story is so good and it's the same for me more or less anyway.

My fav character is of course the missing Sect Master's witty comeback that could make you vomit a mouthful of blood everytime he spoke. Mann, that's best. And also his friend, with the same tr*sh talk. This duo got me laughing and laughing.

AND THE AUTHOR IS SO SMART IDK HOW YOU COME UP WITH SUCH INTRIGUING AND COMPLEX STORY AS THIS.

Enjoyable story, read if you like mystery/revenge plots with cool MCs but the BL romance here falls short

PROS

  • Overarching mystery and revenge plot is well thought-out and easy to follow
  • MC is scheming and intelligent
  • Side characters are entertaining (hilariously so - I love the Demonic sect elders)
CONS

  • Underdeveloped romance
  • Bland ML compared to MC (MC is charismatic, funny, thoughtful and sly... but ML feels mostly just like a foil character that is there to admire and respond to MC’s brilliance)
  • Plot feels fairly contrived at times - I find it difficult to believe that supposedly powerful and authoritative figures such as sect leaders can be so thoughtless and reliant on others to guide their thinking
  • Unsatisfying ending re side characters

Got to say I love the demonic sect's peoples.. They are the biggest reason why I read this.. The Demonic Sect's Elders are really cute, amusing & comical 😄

For the story, It doesn't have a big twist or complex story & characters, but it's interesting enough to read..

Choose Shrimp Chips Translations, it is really good.

The story itself not bad either, a lot of fun moments, interesting side characters.

The MC is too overpowered but think of it as of the result of 20 years of preparation.

Also too few positive female characters, only Lady Tao I guess

Can I give this one six stars?

Excellent story. Excellent side cast. Excellent hero. It's like Count of Monte Cristo met Scarlet Pimpernel. I would not be surprised if it is made into a Chinese (bromance) drama.

A page turner novel and a work of art!

The plot is very well written and executed. The mystery about the white piece and black piece of the chess board will make you want to uncover the truth.

The MC is one of the kind of character that I like as a shou. He is so intelligent and talented, at the same time he's so shameless. Even there's some serious moments, you can't help but laughed out loud. I also commend the loved and devotion of ML for him. Knowing that they... more>> were in a senior- junior relationship in the past. ML have waited for him for 10 years!

But despite MC's lively character, a lot of things that happened to him that he bare it all alone in the past. I felt bad that he went through that kind of suffering. Still, I am very happy that though ML wasn't there for him in the past, he was able to mend it in the present and as well promise to love and take care of MC in the future.

Aside from the main characters, I also like to highlight all the junior sect masters. I love all of them. Uwu, they're like little buns following the MC. I just felt sad in the end for the three sons of the main traitors of this novel. They were all a good and devoted sons and nothing really is their fault... On the brighter side, I'm glad that they were still righteous people and respected the MC a lot.

After putting my reading on hold 4 years ago, I've finally finished this novel, and my goodness, I missed out on a lot, namely an incredible and interesting story.

A revenge story like I like xwith cunning and smart characters.

The villains are really nasty and disgusting, the secondary characters especially the elders of the demonic sect and Xie Chuming are to die for, the main couple is really interesting and endearing

Made me go through all my states, it's a novel I highly recommend.
