Starts really good but the author can't make it work after the initial premise wears down, once the MC gets a lot of powers the story becomes pointless because he is a one man kingdom, one man army and one man side characters, read it for the coolness and drop it once you read past the acolyte evolution

I read this on the wiki for the longest time. It's a good isekai for someone new to the genre who wants something edgy.

The protagonist is cool and powerful, but you can't really feel any tension. He never really faces anything stronger than him; he has plenty of opponents that bring him down to 1 HP and force him to fight on his last leg, but he almost never says "Huh. Ok. Shit. Better run away for a bit using my infinite list of skills, heal up using my super-god-regeneration,... more>> train up on countering this specific foe, then come back and wreck them. This would only take roughly 20 minutes."

It is always a headfirst brawl that he will always win.

He has piles of clever ideas, but there is always that 1 extra step you wonder why he doesn't take. Undead-Spider Taxi? What about undead-trains. What about improving/implementing a sewage system maintained by auto-casting skills and slimes and such? What about...

Body-clones that can scout and communicate long distances? Wait. Body... clones... clones that, even if they can't fight, can scout and get information on the weaknesses of the super-boss of this territory/domain/dungeon/kingdom/continent? Which would allow the protagonist, with his piles of super skills and dozens of specific abilities, to fuse/combine skills that nearly do what he needs until he can capitalize on that weakness LONG before meeting that enemy?

-- --

That said if you can get through that and just enjoy him winning at life this is fun to read. Some of his combos are truly clever (although most are at least one of Wasteful, Idiotic or Needlessly-Risky, but work out without downsides because he wins at life).

This is the grandfather of all "OP MC sexes women and becomes a god" novels from the past 5 years, whether or not they involve reincarnation. It's probably the one of the best demonstrations of the good and bad aspects of "Skill system MC" right up there with Everyone else is a Returnee and Kumo Desu.

If it didnt use the "Skill System" idea or the "MC ALWAYS picks the highest power evolution" or even swapped picking his evolution to "MC evolves based on what he has been doing" this would be 10/10, with me recommending it to everyone I can find. <<less

The premise of the story was actually pretty good and it had a lot of potential starting, but I would say the author screwed up this story way too much as he continued on. He gets really messy in writing all the details and plot; it became a hell a lot confusing. (I have read way beyond what has been uploaded on novelupdates on the re:monster wiki. The quality of the translations and writing is really bad since they have to translate it multiple time usually from russian which was... more>> also translated from japanese. Still they did a pretty decent job considering they weren't paid to do the translating and editing.) What I liked about the story was just the game -like aspect with all the bunch

of skills the author put in :P. That's all folks! <<less

I got into this LN by reading the manga first. It was interesting. I loved watching the main character grow and overcome hurdles. However, it was only fun until the MC became overpowered. Then it started to get repetitive and pointless. For some reason, the author likes to put paragraphs upon paragraphs of descriptions of food that the MC eats. It's really pointless because basically it comes down to: "This is delicious. I've never had anything this good before. It's good with alcohol." Save yourself some time by skipping these... more>> long ass paragraphs of food.

After some point, you have to wonder where the story is going. All the main character does is kill things, eat, gain skills and occasionally recruit more characters than you want to remember. There is some variance of course, but that's seriously it. It's clear the author had trapped himself in a never ending loop. I just couldn't waste time on this anymore. If you decide to pick it up, and feel it's starting to get dull feel free to drop it. Because trust me, it does not get better. I don't believe novelupdates lists all the chapters. You can find them here: http://novelplanet. Com/Novel/Re-Monster. The translators leave funny notes in the chapters as well (complaining about long descriptions of food, and weirdly worded passages). Also caveat, the translations are really rough in the latter chapters. I think the translators gave up and started using Google translate. <<less

I actually put this one on-hold. It's a story about a human from a world different from ours - filled with people who have ESP - who was killed by a yandere girl and revived as a goblin in another world. He, then, started his new life, evolving and becoming a strong being as the story progresses.

My few problems with this is:

    1. It's kinda hard because they keep changing names when they evolve.
    2. The main guy kills for no reason other than wanting to eat them and acquire their skills. Annoying how he keeps thinking a lot of beings are just literally food unless you're useful to him alive.
So, around book 4 or 5, I got bored and annoyed reading this in the main guy's view and decided to start on another series instead. I will still read the later chapters eventually but it's not a priority for now.

Read it if you have lots of time to spare. Oh, and if you like the fact that he's strong and gets lots of wives and children.

Probably one of the best novels of the genre (monster reincarnation) but it's bound to be dropped by the reader at one point because its qualities becomes the defaults.

Getting new skills by eating monster it's awesome till he gets so much skills he doesn't know what to do of it. Also it gets quickly really confusing because the side characters change their name every time they evolve and being Chinese names, it's already not easy to remember them all so let's not talk about changing their names every 50... more>> chapters. But still it keeps being interesting for a long while and it's good to pass time. <<less

Read it a while back and was quite a decent read, especially in the beginning where MC has balls to make decisions that are not praiseworthy in our current society which seems to leave quite a few readers upset. From what I see the author isn't very experienced as moral compass of MC isn't always consistent and quite a few abilities and skills seems to be forgotten by the author. Also, while main cast remains not very big that helps remember who is who when children start popping out it... more>> becomes tedious to remember them all. If you have never read a reincarnation into goblin/orc/ something along the lines than you will find it interesting. If you have read some stories than you will find some similarities though not to the extent that's typical in Chinese copy pasta stories. Overall was interesting story though I doubt I will return to it if someday it will be complete and translated to English as it became almost slice of life later on. <<less

If you like the premise, read the manga. It sidesteps (some of) the morality issues, eliminates most of the bloat, and gives the side characters... actual character. This being said, this novel is blown out of the water by pretty much ANY other mainstream "reincarnated into a monster" novel (or even many sleazy monster girl harem novels, if that's what you're into), so just read those.

Weird... I do remember reading this novel in a different site before...

Look. I get how fulfillment novels with male MC can be frustrating to women. Even more so when there's harem involved.

But honestly? Near most novels and comics with the harem tag this one it gold. The naughty scenes are not overly depicted and no bad female anatomy (the ones where you see the author has no idea of how femal bodies work). The girls are not used exclusively as fanservice. They are not burdens that need to be saved... more>> all the time. They all have their roles in Parabellum and are not overly attached and annoying.

So. I can take him having an harem, which I usually dislike. I also like that he is not a paragon of justice or a "good guy". His personality is normal, in the sense that he has good end bad points and he has his own set of rules and moral compass.

I see comments comparing his motives and behavior with irl but thing is... he's not from earth. At least not an earth similar with irl. He's from a espers and monster filled earth and obviously have a different view on things.

If you don't like the genre don't read it. But compared with others os the same genre I do like this one best. <<less

I remember reading this on the wikia. It had a couple problems like how every day something HAD to happen or how he sorta got s*upid strong for no reason. Its like hey theirs a ceiling, no need to keep upping the ante, dragons are dragons for a reason why bother to try up that? Know what I mean? Also it was sorta rapey. He also did ramble away a lot about the food and what not. Its a good read if you wanna let your brain go on auto... more>> pilot. It's sorta wish upon a star [insert name] here *boom* your a wizard [insert name] ! So any egotistical ?necessitous? person could give it a read and enjoy it. I know I sorta sometimes did.... <<less

I like this novel because it's the first I have read in the form of a diary and it's successfully written. Now for the substance hummm:

Spoiler

After reading this novel there's only one question I want to ask you author and fellow readers: if all the monster can evolve like this, why is human race existing till now? Seriously all this bullsh*t about the human heroes who have a level of power just below Rou even after his evolution is a total bullshit. He has beaten the insect hero when he was an orgre difficulty but he has suffered to beat the water hero and his team even after becoming an apostle lord. Even now he suffers to beat the white saint or whatever she's named after becoming a f*cking God. Thus this novel isn't to my taste.

Although I agree with many of readers about protagonists sense of morals I have to remind you that he isnt from our type of earth but one with monsters and super powered humans as as well so his morals will be different from norm for us even before we take into account that he is now a monster. In addition to that he now has mental skils like leader of the pack as souh his mentality will be that of a leader and if we look at politicans even in... more>> todays socienty are mostly s*um and bastards. In medieval socienty like in this novel it is doubly so. <<less
