Second book by this author that I’ve read. The first involved the auto industry and this one is about stock manipulation. Both with mature characters, lots of intrigue and evil-doers, and snarky conversation, but such a sweet story between the two leads. This author is very much in tune with real life and writes in that way; the characters embrace the physical part of their relationship, instead of one always complaining and trying to run, all while complaining that their partner is a pe*vert for wanting s*x frequently.

This novel is seriously hilarious. The plot reveals are well timed and the banter between the two leads is amazing. They're both insanely h**ny and match each other's energy so well. I liked that MC was just a normal person for the most part too, as it's pretty uncommon to find a main character in danmei that isn't OP at everything they do. MC engages in a car chase, doesn't get injured by the subsequent shooting, disarms the hit man of a knife at close range, and arrests him, all after seeing ML get hit by the hitman's car. It's a lot for someone who doesn't reportedly exercise or have any mentioned martial arts training. There was a moment earlier in the novel where MC shoulder throws a prisoner down, so some basis exists for his existing fighting capabilities, but it's not really explained. The hitman is revealed to be a serial killer though, so he's not a professional hitman, which does make the events a little more believable.

MC is a prison guard, and he's given the shock of his life when the guy he's been spying on for months ends up as a prisoner. It's really funny how the interactions between the two of them start, with the MC trying to not let ML's hot bod distract him and ML trying to use his body to distract the MC. This results in the most amusing push and pull as MC gets turned on by the ML but also pissed off at ML for being a little shit.

I have to say that the s*xual tension between the two leads is also palpable in literally every scene with them, both before and after they get together. They're both kinky and have equally high s*x drives, which makes for a lot of fun tension when they're in an environment where they can't act on the urges. I really liked also how MC's treatment of the ML changed a lot through the course of the story, starting off more closed off and cold, before becoming a lot more flirtatious and straightforward (while still keeping some of the tsundere persona).

ML had been spying on MC with high end binoculars the whole time in return was too good. When they compared the top three things they liked to spy on each other, I just knew they were soulmates haha both of them are such pe*verts for each other. I also liked how once they got together the MC didn't feel like being a voyeur anymore, as he had succeeded in catching his target. The ML becoming an exhibitionist and voyeur only because of the MC really was the icing on the cake.

Even though ML is a genius and MC is more normal, they still felt very balanced and like equals, with ML deferring to MC many times and never scheming against the MC like he did against others. ML also readily admits how much he's into the MC, and even thinks to himself about how lucky he is to have MC. They really have such a healthy relationship despite it starting with MC spying on ML as much as humanly possible while ML paraded shirtless around his house. I also liked that ML wasn't flawless and despite being a math genius, actually had

I really enjoyed this one! It's short but the plot goes in a lot of interesting directions, and the relationship development is very well paced and realistic. Definitely a favorite couple of mine in these two, they match each other so well. <<less

one of the top three modern danmei novels I have read, out of the box, very, very smart narrative - plot twists and double-entendre exchanges, detective element, a variety of kinky characters, and absolutely convincing dynamics.

I very much appreciated how the MC pointed out this monumental fact that so many other novels miss or use as a bit piece to cause strife between their protagonists. I enjoyed the plots and sub plots, the watch was an easy guess and I did catch a few plot holes but all in all an enjoyable and intelligent read. Very well translated, thank you!

This novel was such a breath of fresh air and I mean that in both its excellent *chef kiss* translations and the main couple.

MC and ML are both so thirsty and simp for each other and it's a great change from the majority of novels I've read (both great and decent) where ML just lets himself be happily used or the MC realizes his feelings at the end of the book.

I just adore the couple's tension, kinks, and chemistry.

I want to emphasize again how amazing the translation is. Holy cow!

WOW! Love it! It's such a fun novel. I literally giggled very chapter. Their interactions and chemistry is off the hook. Love the constant, sexy teasing. MC and ML are both strong characters. Equally capable, independent, with the right amount of perviness LOL. It's a must read!

    • Fun ride, lots of humour. Quite lighthearted and easy read
    • MC and ML have INSANE chemistry - saucy flirting, innuendos, indecent eyes, raunchy plays

      amazing
    • MC is a good natured, slightly airheaded and pe*verted voyeur. He works in a prison and likes peeking on his hot neighbour. Said hot neighbour (ML) is a mysterious + flirty corporate big boy trader who ends up incarcerated in MC's prison for *gasp* insider trading
    • ML actually demonstrates his smartness; it's not just lip service. Very satisfying as ML proceeds to big brain continuously throughout the story, leaving MC flabbergasted (and swooning ofc). Who can blame him? Big brains are indeed sexy. Super satisfying when

    • The only downside to me is the lack of plot tension, everything feels quite low stakes esp re prison life + the overarching plot wasn't too gripping IMO, but then again it's intended to be lighthearted in tone.
highly recommend. The insane couple chemistry alone makes it worth a read

I was pushing this novel back time and time again cause the Description didn't really hook me. Thanks to YellowNoodel's review I started this novel and binged it in 2 days.

MC and ML are both good guys and neither is MCs voyeur kink described in any kind of uncomfortable way, nor is ML a "dangerous" convict. Both are written really well and tether on the line where they both are likable although having strange thinking patterns.

I really adore the way they communicate with each other. It's a teasing and... more>> playful style but also able to speak strait out if needed. A well matched couple.

Even the side couples with their own strange dynamics are written well and you will be anxious for them.

Sure there are some minor points that might bother you, like the story is centered in the prison so you do not see much of the investigation outside that is ongoing. Also stock trading is a big part of this story and I can not say if the written parts are correct, since I have no idea about stock market.

I really like this story and recommend to read it at least once. <<less

This was a good and sexy novel. Lots of s*xual tension, but NO SMUT! The MC was fun with his mind wandering to forbidden places, spying on people. The ML was far more complex and was smart as he'll. Loved him. And I loved their interactions and the dirty talk. The storyline was really good. I liked how well written (and translated) it was.

But like I said, no smut! I would have given five stars if there was!

Honestly, this novel made its way into my top 5 bl novel list!!

ive never read a novel with a prison setting but omg the male leads and the supporting characters were just so perfect! The story itself was amazing, plot points connected and although I didn't understand much of the finance diologue, it was still explained clearly!!!!!!

love our main couple, my fav quote from the male lead was "I don't know when I started liking you, I just realized I fell hopelessly in love with you@ 😩 & the second... more>> couple and third couple were adorable as well!!

I'm so happy that I had the chance to read this! I absolutely liked the novel! The s*xual tension between the main characters is soooo hot! It's also my first time reading a story between a Prisoner gong x Prison librarian shou. I highly recommend it!

MC has voyeuristic tendencies and has been spying on his next door neighbour, ml, for the better half of the year. but someone seems to be targeting his beighbour, as he's been attacked, robbed, and his house set on fire. MC works at the local prison, and finds out that ML has been convicted of a big financial crime and put behind bars. MC tries to distance himself due to the fact ML is now an inmate, but finds himself irrevocably attracted nonetheless. they become close as ML frequents the library MC mains, and end up covering for each other in the rough prison environment. MC learns that ML was actually framed, and together they work out a plan to convict the rightful criminal. thankfully, MC has connections in law enforcement, and ml's circle of influence is vast and he knows how to utilize prison resources efficiently. finally, ml's former boss is incarcerated and ML is rightfully freed.

this novel is a gem, there's so many things I can praise to the high heavens but my absolute number one favourite aspect is the relationship between jiang chijing and zheng mingyi. literally the first couple chapters I could already feel the mutual attraction and s*xual tension oozing through the screen, its f*cking unbelievable. we know from the get-go that jiang chijing has a perversion and is immensely attracted to zheng mingyi even before they formally meet. but the added layer of a prison convict x prison officer dynamic blurs the line between right and wrong which makes the flavour so damn good. jiang chijing is literally blue balling himself trying to keep his professionalism in check in front of the object of his attraction but anyone with eyes can tell that he is down bad (especially zheng mingyi lmao). it doesnt help how he has a very very active imagination when the situation turns ambigious, and poor bby's trying his best to reel his thoughts out of r18 territory lmao.

the subtle flirting, the mind games, the s*xual tension, the slow loss of composure, everything is just *chefs kiss* it's so damn refreshing to read about two characters that are just... so completely attracted to each other. they both, however, exercise a lot of restraint, knowing neither can outright declare their interests in each other due to the peculiar environment theyre in. so their relationship starts with a lot delicious build-up and s*xual frustration, and when the dam finally breaks they both become absolutely unhinged. even the fade to black car didnt bother me that much since the author leaves so much to the imagination (tho itd be more amazing if there were real cars ngl hahaha). they indulge in a lot of kinky stuff together, like roleplaying, creative positions, handcuffs, uniforms,..... its amazing :') but on a more serious note, im glad jiang chijing finally has a person and an outlet to share his kinks with

its also very sexy of jiang chijing that he knows how to fight and use self-protection, especially in his work environment. at first I thought he might be a weak damsel character because of his post (librarian) but thankfully it turned out to be not the case. he holds up very well under duress and knows how to handle himself out of a tough situation. its also very touching (and very hot) to see the lengths theyll go to protect the other person from harm; especially the scene when jiang chijing went on a highspeed chase of a hit-and-run car after it had hurt zheng mingyi... its complete reckless behavior and totally unlike him, but for his hubby he'll do anything ^v^

the other thing I love about their relationship is how they both try to feel each other out with mind games and curveballs. jiang chijing loses most of the time lol but the way he still keeps an internal score is cute <3 zheng mingyi is a natural at playing people and its a f*cking tease to see how he digs up jiang chijing's secrets one by one, dangles them in front of him, and lets him grow all hot and bothered for a whole day; the whole process in which jiang chijing aptly described it as "stripping him down to the underwear" lmfaoo

(+ also when jiang chijing tries to seduce his hubby when they were playing weiqi... was just so...!! so...!!!! arhhhhh!!! bby really knows his strengths well :'))

anyways!! plotwise, it's pretty solid as well. people who kept an eye out on the 2021 gamestop short squeeze are gonna find this novel very familiar lol, the author did mention she took a lot of inspiration from the events. she also explains any relevant details like stocks, shorting, etcetc for the laymans (ie: me) who arent so savvy. that being said, there was a bit of plot armor used (especially with zheng mingyi's near omniscience over the stock market), so some degree of suspension of disbelief when reading is necessary methinks.

and as for the side characters, I think they're all pretty solid as well. many of them are convicts but few are just cookie cutter criminal stereotypes. at least the relevant ones have a layer of depth and more than what meets the eye. the author describes hierarchy, cliques, and a sense of camaraderie amongst the inmates in prison, all of which are convincing depictions of real life prison culture <<less

The beginning of the novel was good. I was hooked on when I first read. The plot was okay in general, but the relationship between the MC/ML was interesting enough for me to continue reading.

I did start getting bored towards the end when the couple got together. I did not finish the novel lmao. I technically did... I just skipped a few chapters until the ending, lol.

People already said what I also wanted to say.

MC and ML are one of the most satisfying couple I've read in a while. Their chemistry is just wonderful and so fun to read.

MC is smart and witty. ML is intelligent and teasing. Their interaction is basically MC trying to stay calm and composed in front of the hot ML, while ML can't stop teasing MC (and us readers!) with his suspicious actions and words.

I was apprehensive about the voyeurism tag but MC is quite the nice guy and you get... more>> to know why he does what he does right at the first chapter lol but still, he acknowledges his bad habits even if he's not doing actual harm to anyone so you can't help but understand him.

The plot is secondary since things don't escalate to heavy dramatic moments but it is interesting and doesn't feel like a filler just to show an op MC and ML fall in love.

Really well written and the translation is just wonderful. Gotta say that the effort that the translator put explaining certain parts, moments made it an enjoyable read!

This feels like a wattpad fever dream with the prisoner x officer trope, but the author did it justice. A crude couple: often acting ostentatious around the other, but the s*xual tension is through the roof!

Sort of reminiscent of ‘Orange is the New Black’? Anyway, it’s a fun forbidden romance. 9/10

Ahhhh I loved it! The chemistry of this couple was amazing. Their mental conversations, the subliminal messages in every word they said, the banter, the s*xual tension, and their dirty fantasies made me laugh out loud.

On the other hand, I wasn't expecting the story to be so sweet. They were perfect for each other. Feeding dog food to everyone in the prison and making me feel single 🙈.

Surprisingly, the power imbalance between those two was remarkable. They are a pure green flag, although a slightly dirty one 😂.
