Eh, It's a good one. I would give this a 7.5/10. Rounding it up to 4 stars.

Anyways, I see this one getting a lot of hate. The "tons of plot holes" people mention are usually trivialities mentioned a single time or something that's not really a plot hole but actually a major mystery of the novel.

The truth about Heaven Wing's success/defeat, the mystery of the pocket watch, what happened in Africa, etc.

... more>> The author never forgot about those things.

In other news you have plot holes that aren't plot holes and most people simply seem to skim through the novel.

But I can't fault them too much. Because the writing feels so messy at times.

There's a lack of cohesive worldbuilding (no power system to tell you whose stronger or weaker) (no magic system).

And there's way too many f***ing powers. Instead of making an interesting ability and exploring the possibilities of each ability, the MC just stacks everything together at once, and gets so many cheat abilities like a flood.

Most fights have no tension to them because the MC literally has too many trump cards, to the point you can't even count them or describe them in a single page. It's ridiculous.

Initially, first 100 chapters or so, the side characters feel one-dimensional or simple. But the author improves on this at around the 200-300 chapters mark. Side characters are more fleshed out, they get motivations and everyone has their own goals as well as character development. Which is nice.

At times, the novel is pretty wholesome when the cold-blooded MC opens his heart to others.

Overall, this novel is objectively not that good, but I enjoyed it a lot after turning my brain off at the constant powerups and simply enjoying the stakes at hand rather than the battles themselves. <<less

so uhh seeing how alot of people are talking about how the pocketwatch got sent to him

Spoiler

it is explained in later chapters that there was an item that allows you to exit the tower into any dimension or to the dimension your from and how one of the friends that his brother had, apparently used this item not to return to his world, but to earth to send the pocketwatch over to MC

[collapse]

and alot of plot holes everyone is talking about is explained in later chapters, yes we know that the power balance is kinda off, but you never know, that person might have been carried to those higher floors, but overall im giving it a 4, because no matter how good it is there are still some parts where its either confusing, has a plot hole, or the power balancing is just broken <<less

This was great in the beginning, a good balance of manipulative character, growing friendships, and power ups for the MC.

Later, the manipulation part seems to be toned down, and that's a big disservice to an otherwise great story.

Extremely good webnovel with good pacing and characters. Protag is not a d*ck nor a blithering idiot but instead is a calculative guy who doesn't make you think "why didn't he do that" every chapter. One of the better Korean novels and does not contain many character tropes, along with original (somewhat) worldbuilding and premises. The character development of the protag is refreshing and there is always something not fully explained, which is very satisfyingly resolved sooner rather than later. The constant manipulation is also quite fun to watch.

Very good. Has its omg moments with very good character growth, but has its moments that make you want to watch eye bleach youtube videos to make you feel better from all the sad. Especially in the mid to new 270-310 range there is a lot of feels bad moments for all of the main cast. The ways the story sticks a knife in you and twists it makes it even better to show just how good it is to you. The characters change a lot throughout the story, mainly... more>> the MC and a few of the villains and allies. The training isn't bad either, as it interests you with new abilities to test. The plot could use some work, like with the rules of the tower and tutorial, but otherwise, it works well for a revenge novel turned into a self-finding novel. Worth the read for the manhwa as well. <<less

I've seen all these bad reviews and all, and honestly? I quite agree with some of them. But if you just ignore all of those things, including the contradictions, mistakes and nonsensical things, thid novel is a pretty good read, fairly interesting in the plot, specifically the 98th floor, and something to look forward to everyday with its daily updates.

Read it a couple of years ago, one of the best novels I ever found. The ending was kind of unsatisfactory as the author could have written a little bit more chapters to explain a couple of details about MC's situation.

I mean MC was finally going to marry the FL after eons. After countless years it took him to complete his exuvanation and start transcending (for those who know what exuvanation and transcendence means; no, it's not because MC's weak but rather because he's too strong that it takes so much time) and then he had to go on another ride to actualize his ambitions (idea of happiness)

Well overall the part one that the author has written is great, and I mean really really great.

I have been waiting for the author to start serializing the part two which he was gonna start in Nov.23. But, I haven't seen it anywhere; not even the raws in Korean.

If there is anyone who has any news about it do let everyone who is waiting like me know.

I think the rating of the novel is a little low as compared to what it deserves. Well, its everyone's own choice so I can't say much, but for those who haven't read even half of it you shouldn't judge it until you see the true big; no humongous, picture that the author is trying to portray. <<less

The more you read the novel the more you attached to the story. The idea has more large than the first it shows. MC personality not naive, kinda sly and that interesting when you know he will stand in the enemy side before he betrayed them.

I have never seen a more generic Korean tower system novel in my life. And, unlike other novels who at least have some ideas, this one just never gets good. It's an endless power up and ability gatherfest. Yeon-woo continues to gobble up skills and attributes which adds immense bloat and is a boring form of power progression. Couldn't bring myself to continue.

You know what, I never made it to the AllForOne fight. That thing that was hyped up the entire novel, and I never made it there.

This novel is pretty cliche. Characters are one-dimension (e.g., loyal to a fault, completely selfish, etc). Everyone's life is on the line, but they treat the whole thing as a game and don't seem to care when their friends or clan mates die. Also, the MC grows way too strong way too fast. The powers become hard to understand and you end up reading about fights and completely unable to make any guess about what's going to happen or why.

Gets worse the longer it drags on. Biggest issue is plot convenience. Plot armor for MC is thick, sometimes enemy have some too. Things just get dragged on. Some people like stuff like that. Here is an example of s*upid plot convenience, spoiler free and spoiler verision although trust me, not a big spoiler. So MC gets an elixir, and an "imporatant" side-character is in a comatose for several chapters. MC uses potion to help out one of his servents though; servants are dead people whose soul have been used... more>> by MC to make a ghost like body to fight. A servent, this ghost like thing that prior to this, can "die" infinitely, gets injured by a random super deadly poison, that was first introduced in the same chapter. The virus/poison will never be mentioned again becuase now MC will tell his smart servant to make an antidote for this thing that won't be mentioned ever again. The spoiler version will perhaps explain even more so why this moment was such a waste of time.

Spoiler

So the posion guy who MC builds up from the start, B____ something is his name. At the start and intermittenly, MC will talk about building up posion resistence for his fight against this guy. Once this guy appears, the first thing he does is posion MC servant and thats it. He will then die soon after doing nothing else. He just exists to use up the elixir. This elixir could have been used to help the comatose girl who by chapter 540, is still comatose.

[collapse]

PS. If you're coming from the manhwa, just double the number and look at the chapter titles. If you know what the chapter title means but not the next set of titles, then start there.

There is no reason to start the novel from the start. The relationships are pretty nonsensical regardless and the manhwa does a great job replicating the source material. <<less

The setting of the novel kinda reminds me of Tower of God, which I really love. Anyway, the novel started off great but I think it lost steam and gradually became uninspiring. Stats were no longer relevant, pets were occasional cameos, and for some reason, top dogs were congregating at the lower levels (like why not just let them fight MC at the higher levels?) and the clearing hidden bosses and tower levels became secondary. Not a fan of the overused 'undead subordinates' trope as well. It could be an... more>> interesting novel for others so do give this novel a read. <<less

This is an excellent Tower climbing fantasy novel. It's the standard "climb the tower to get great power" setting but with a ton of depth and lore. Almost too much honestly. It starts getting a little too complex after a while. But it is all very well put together and features the author's take on various mythologies and deities. The revenge plot is done very well and the fights are great.

Give this one a shot if you like the tags.

Really great! It has quite a lot of plot wholes and deus ex machina and other issues from the world building perspective, but the characters are overwhelmingly well thought out and interesting, and it isn't quite so everything always goes perfectly for MC but everyone else is screwed (though it definitely has that issue). There is consistently legitimate suspense as the course of the story isn't obvious from the get-go (besides the he's gonna beat the tower and become God or bring his brother back or something), and the MC... more>> does has character development over the course of the novel. <<less

Really like the novel, seeminly went on hiatus for a long while or maybe that was just the translations. However the new translations are f*cking around with the proficiency levels, MC's proficiency levels keep progressing in a way that does not make sense, e.g. it was 27..28..29..30..31 okay so hes at 31% proficiency level now, then his proficiency goes up again later 28...29...30..33. So annoying he keeps progressing in a loop which leads no where, at least that is what it says, but it might end with him at 47%... more>> later on... still annoying though <<less

This novel is great to pass time. It's quite addictive, but in more of a guilty pleasure kind of way. It's straight forward and doesn't require you to think too much.
