Meng Yang had done a lot of s*upid and wrong things in his life. Jumping around like a clown, annoying and unpleasant. Only after his tragic death did he know that he was a cannon fodder written in a book who only existed to set off the protagonist shou.

Although he certainly had done things to hate, the protagonist gong and the protagonist shou were not totally innocent. The protagonist gong betrayed him first, then the protagonist shou framed him. So when he was reborn, he decided…

Marry the protagonist gong’s rich father and give the protagonist a few younger brothers to divide the property.

He wanted to be pregnant soon but thinking that the old man was getting older it would be more difficult. But he didn’t expect that the old man was not only strong, he was even more handsome than the protagonist gong. The steady momentum and charm of that mature man was so attractive that a certain person couldn’t close their legs…ahhhh, he accidentally told the truth. He just couldn’t hold his mouth.

Luo Xiu and his ex-wife had been in a business marriage and were divorced for many years. He really did not expect that he would marry a boy so much younger than him, that he would become an extra son to raise.

He just didn’t expect this delicate and tender little guy to be so attractive, making him pamper him and spoil him and eventually take his heart.

This is a Gary Stu novel, so the MC and the ML are OP and can do anything. I can handle that, sometimes novels like that can be good to just chill and decompress with.

It's also an age gap romance, but you could look at it as the MC being around 34 because he goes back to a time before he died, over 15 years before his death. If you think about the timeline of his original life it could be argued that he was probably closer to 40 years... more>> old. He talked about going through four years of college, and accomplishing a lot of other things before he was poisoned and thrown down the cliff, left to live for fifteen more years. So the age gap isn't too bad. The ML doesn't even really treat the MC like a child except for on one occasion. His actions were pretty crap during that one occasion and he tightly controls the MC with bodyguards after that, but that's all that happens. He even respects the MC's choices and wants him to live his life how he chooses, so it's really not that bad. Because of that I can overlook the age gap too.

However what I couldn't detach myself from was the pseudoscience and ridiculous miracles the MC accomplishes with aromatherapy, essential oils, and perfumes. You could look at that part of the story as some sort of magical world setting to suspend your disbelief and move on with the story, but I found it incredibly difficult. If you don't care about the bunk science and medicine make-believe then my criticism isn't relevant. I care however, so I kept getting frustrated with the story. All of this falls into spoiler territory, but I'm gonna leave it out of spoiler brackets because I think it's important to make this stuff clear.

First, he cures multiple people of insomnia, wakes two people out of comas, and treats other serious psychological disorders with aromatherapy. This.... is just terrible. In one chapter there was even a note (I can't remember if it was from the translator or the author) that had to clarify that the aromatherapy wasn't real because comments were criticizing it. There's a very flippant attitude toward medical practices and psychological treatment that western medicine is inferior to eastern medicine and aromatherapy. I'm not exaggerating, there's an entire conversation between two psychologist/neurologists with the MC about how amazing eastern medicine is and how lacking western medicine is. This isn't a comparison between the different medical fields in each country, but a comparison of medical science vs. aromatherapy, acupuncture, massage, essential oils, and other types of mysticism based "medicine". Those types of things are at best simply therapeutic, and at worst could be harmful to your health.

That's not to say that herbs and such can't be beneficial to you, but that their actual impact isn't as big as they can often be advertised as. On top of that, there's a lot of misinformation and pseudoscience that is used to trick gullible people into believing they can treat serious medical issues with these things.

Because of the ridiculous amount of times that the MC treated serious medical and psychological problems with snake oil, I just couldn't enjoy the novel. I finished it but only because I got so invested I felt like I'd be annoyed if I didn't at least give the novel the chance to redeem itself.

It's not horrendous, but I hated it for personal reasons. Because my dislike is purely personal, I decided to give it two stars instead of just one. <<less

FLUFFY ALL THE WAY

I love it, it's good to read when you feel down. I did skip some early chapters because I wanted to quickly see progress and chemistry from the couple heheh...

Highly recommended. Don't know what else to say. Obviously, the villains are bad and the main couple are good.

I actually need more of the side stories, I want to read more of the main couple and their kids 😭

The plot's very braindead but don't get me wrong, it's very entertaining in the first part (well, at least to me)

But after a while, the story gets tedious, there's no real conflict. Every problem gets solve within the chapter or after 2-3 chapters.

The amount of times they were doing "it" is very off putting too. It was sweet at first but when it gets repeated like every chapter, you'll get sick of it real quick.

3.2/5 at Chapter 58, 2.1/5 on completion. A case of a great premise, bad execution.

If you can't guess, the story is about weaponized filial piety and blood ties. It's the first story I've come across where the MC uses it to their advantage. Most of us on this site are familiar with toxic family dynamics. But here, Meng Yang doesn't give a flying flip about it and honestly uses it as a cudgel against his green tea step-brother.

Also like many stories, the summary hides some details. Sure, this your typical... more>> revenge story, but it's not a 'I've come back to get revenge on those who hurt me' type of story. Meng Yang has a goal and having children is more like the third or fourth part of his list.

One major hurdle is the plot holes. The author attempts to fill some of them as the story progresses but it only just makes you question things as you go. Wrapping your head around MC spending 15 years, blind, mute, and unable to walk living in a tree is not the weirdest thing going on in this story.

Then there is the pacing. It pretty bad especially since while these are all over the place, the story seems to meander about picking up and dropping things all the time. Characters, plot points, explanations. Everything goes through this. The author has a great idea, drags it around for a few chapters, then drops it for something else only to pick it up again 12 chapters later. The protagonist couple disappear from the story only to show up to cause trouble which is weird because the MC and the shou are literally in the same class together and are supposed to frequently run into each other.

Another is characterization. While I have no hatred towards the MC and ML (in fairness, the MC is supposed to be my favorite type, a spoiled, petty rich kid with a mean streak a mile wide he'd developed due to home life), they do become bland later. As to the rest of the characters of the story. They become moving men for the story more than anything. They all start to blend together to the point where I started to forget who was on whose side during the school rivalry. Except for the Ex but that is mostly because
Spoiler

the story spends a lot of time hinting that he really isn't that bad of a person just a prideful misguided one under a lot of pressure. He's practically been trained this way due to the actions of his mother's family. The story attempts to play on your heartstrings a lot especially when it comes out about how he's just a pawn in grandfather's plans and how he's being used by the stepbrother for money and status. That said it doesn't negate the fact that he does horrible things such as screwing his boyfriend's step brother on his birthday, or creating a situation where a man's in a coma for months. He still shows that

[collapse]
he's a grade-A a**hole.

Then there is the amount of fragrance in this story. Sure, in a business story, I expect a lot of product talk and sales jargon. Unlike many other reviewers, I wasn't even so mad about the MC's golden finger since because the story explained it
Spoiler

His family has a history of dealing with essential oils and had historical manuals on the subject. Meng Yang was only bad at it because his sense of smell was mediocre at best. After spending years blind, he had a heightened sense of smell

[collapse]
And essential oils were, in essence, the start of his downfall in his previous life. But the story just seems to stop and spend all it's time on essential oils and healing <<less

I thought the premise was interesting and was excited to give it a try T.T As a result... I only disappointed myself because of expectations HSKSLSLSLS The premise is indeed good, but execution is a bit clumsy. Things are happening a bit fast and the MC is a bit... dull? I’m not interested in him at all T.T The ML didn’t spark any interest either. Idk, maybe it’s a mood thing. For now, I’m leaving the rest unread and unrated.

It's a good book for time pass. Although so many things barely made any sense and there were lots of glaring plot holes I did enjoy reading it.

I wish it had rather less chapters because around chapter 50-60 the revenge was already done.

Nevertheless, nice and simple story but definitely would not be rereading it.

Okay read. My problem mainly was the fact that many villains had no proper end. Like they would not even do anything. So what was the point of introducing them? They were like "oh I hate this guy. I should make his life hell" but then about 6 chapters later they would go like "oh well nevermind"... Like what?

Also the extras were weird. I dont know why and I cant pinpoint it. It was just weird.

The story is good to read once to waste time and that's it. The less you try to think logically the better since the author just leave so many plot holes in this story.

There is actually a lot of unnecessary drama. A secondary ML that feel like a filler or more like a stalker and I only found him annoying. The interaction between the characters is so 2D and basic it makes me feel like the author is spoon-feeding what I should be feeling.

Overall the story is Meh. It would... more>> have been better if there was more interaction between the MC and the ML instead of the ex-boyfriend butting in every chapter like a typical s*upid cartoon villain <<less

The MC is a complete Gary Sue.

Honestly makes for a boring read in the end.

Also somewhere in the middle, we lose track of Luo Sheng (the male slag) and Yu Junchen (stepbrother) and it becomes all about how amazing the MC is at aromatherapy.

Just.... weird.

Also MC and ML fall in deep love it off the blue. Really doesn't make much sense but it is a fairly quick read.

This story is a 4.0 in concept and overall plot, but a 1.0 in execution and realism. The author seems to have been new to writing for this particular novel. It’s not a bad read but you might find yourself skipping to the end. I’ll put a pro/con list below, although it may have some minor spoilers.

Cons:

  • A little too Gary Stu; Everything is over the top and exaggerated
  • The age gap is always conveniently changing; we never find out our Olderthanactualappearance Uncle’s age
  • Weird pacing especially when it matters (as the story nears the end) ; a good example is a new love rival who gets ready to cause MC trouble only to... never appear again with no explanation
  • This is not always a con, but all of the s*x is censored out; it’s a con for this novel because the author likes to drop vague confusing hints and then do a short time skip
  • Almost every villain comes with it’s own family of sub villain baggage
  • ML is the type that is so forgiving to family that he just lets himself get trampled and vents his frustration in other ways, such as working
  • some subtle misogyny as appears in some BL; barely any female characters and all are villains. The most positive (that is not dead) are a housekeeper who has only two lines and the small minded mother of a patient
  • Extras have the ML doing some suspicious unexplained training for the kiddos which is fine... if it’s ever revealed to the readers!
Pros:

  • Decent character setup for the main cast
  • MC and ML aren’t trying to kill off every enemy; this novel has maybe two incidental ‘mu*ders’ although one could argue that the living villains are in a state of worse than death
  • ML is a walking pheromone machine (hilarious)
  • author tries to create a unique mpreg setting although the choice to increase the strength of ancient Chinese fragrances is a bit odd
  • MC and ML have very few if any misunderstandings
  • Relationship is confirmed rather quickly
  • The main couple chose to trust each other
  • Interesting twist: ML suspects some things, but there is no big reveal
  • Decent parenting from the main characters

It was a pretty good cliche plot. About Reborn and getting revenge just as description mentioned!! (⊙_⊙)

MC suffered in his previous life after being reborn he changed his fate, get his revenge and got together with the person he truly loved in his previous life. ML also suffered and died in the last life of MC. ML was good to MC even though the age difference is pretty high, they got along well. Then had 3 children.

I really like face slapping plot and enjoyed quite a lot at... more>> first. I won't say what those antagonists did was less then what they suffered. But when I knew the detail I felt it was too extreme, not that they don't deserve it. Am I too much of a softy?!( ̄ー ̄)

Well, can give a try if like face slapping rebirth plot. |°_°| <<less

Gotta say that this is not everyone's cup of tea... but for me this was like mcflurry! hheheh it does not have an intense plot... it flows smoothly and not very descriptive too... this is a major turn off but if you can fill in the pieces with your own imagination then its fine... you can imagine this book world where the ML and MC lived in...i was super sad for MC's past life... in the beginning I was like is it even possible?? then at the end it made... more>> sense! The ending was the thing that hooked me with this story... give it a try ah 5/5 from me! <<less

A very light-hearted and easy read. Not something you should take seriously; just read it for the entertainment and the fluff. The synopsis is a bit misleading though, as the MC's main reason for marrying his ex's father wasn't actually for revenge.

I have a couple of gripes with the novel, like the somewhat over-the-top OPness of the MC, and the fact that the world he was in was a novel didn't actually have much of an impact or even matter?? Like, what was even the point of it? I feel... more>> like the author did it just so the MC would find out what happened to ML after he died, but they could have easily written him as haunting the ML as a ghost for a bit before rebirthing when ML died. Coz honestly, I don't buy that the ex and the stepbrother could be the protagonists of a novel. I can't imagine anyone wanting to read about a s*um cheater and a green tea bit*h and actually rooting for them?? It would've been better if the MC and ML were the actual protagonists, it's just that they didn't get a happy ending. That would honestly make more sense.

Overall, it was an okay read, and there were a few (faceslapping) dialogues that were really good, but not something you would put on your favorites list imo. <<less

I loved everything about this novel despite my wish to read more chapters. This novel is definitely not for everyone. Its short and light read. There is no heavy plot or many obstocales. The villains are not a really big hindrance and their purpose is just to support the story. Either way, the plots main focus is the main couple and their love for each other.

What I really loved about this story is that there is no misunderstanding between the ML and MC.

What I didn't mind was that the ML... more>> is a typical rich character with family problems. However, what was different was that he is older than the MC by a 10 years or more. And he is really mature. The MC is also a more or less a typical character. He doesn't really meet real obstacles after he is reborn even though he still have psychological trauma from his previous life. Despite that he is only 19 when he is together with the ML, and he is mature however sometimes his immaturity will show but not in an abnoxious way.

Therefore, even if the plot is kind of unoriginal, the author still manage to execute it well. Sometimes to achieve a well written story despite its lack of originality, is to execute it well.

The translation is good. <<less

I do not usually write reviews before I finish reading whole book but here I am.

Reason is that I just wanted to say thank you to translators - first one and second one. You are doing amazing job. I cant wait for next chapter.

And about book, I honestly started reading it because I needed something to fill the time and I found this one. I wasn't sure about begining, but I started enjoying it around chapter number 10.

There is not a lot of descriptions, and that is something that author... more>> of the book should fix, but it is getting a bit better.

I am not going to comment any more until I read the rest of the book, but there is one question - would the son be better person, if our ML was a better father ? <<less

This novel totally hooked me up. I havent been able to read good novel lately so this novel totally surpassed my expectation. Tbh, I was a bit reluctant and skeptical to read it based on the title and also some of the bad reviews but trust me this novel definitely worth your time.

In my opinion, I dont think they fall in love too quickly or abruptly. There are other novel out there where the protagonist fall in love at first sight. It was fast paced but you can understand the... more>> reason behind it.

I love both of the MC and the ML character. The MC is not a bad nor a nice guy. He doesnt act like a white lotus but I love how he act spoiled with the ML in order to seduce him. I also love how MC distance himself from other people that are interested in him.

The ML is very good too. He is understanding and he loves MC very much. He doesnt tolerate people messing with the MC. He is your mr perfect. I definitely love older guy for sure.

Overall, this novel is truly satisfying and complete my fantasy. Lately, im into this type of novel so im very glad I give it a try. <<less

It is really good. I was hesitant at first to read this since the ML and MC's age gap is huge, but it turned out to be fine. ML is still your handsome and rich president whose body defies time and exudes mature male hormones. For MC, the back story is quite sad and it's a really good story of recovery and moving on. A very nice HE with 3 little buns.

Came here for the silver fox but it's more focused on the face-slapping than the romance, which is very slow. Kind of a shallow novel? Author didn't spend a lot of time thinking deeply about everyone's motivations and dreams, that's for sure.

MC, after a tragic past, is reborn to the time before all tragedies strike, and is ready for his nemesis (the protagonists of the 'book'). MC and ML have a sweet love story - tracking back from the previous life, just with a HE this time...

MC is not too much revenge focused and more on living a good life in the present - but he still gives back good to the ex-protagonists when he gets a chance... Rest is sweet slice-of-life story for the MC and ML, with MC... more>> killing it in his chosen profession (aromatherapy) and OP ML being his back at all times... <<less

wooowww so far so good! Our MC is really cute when he tries to flirt with our ML. He just made me so amazed at him on how he could just drop those lines (≧▽≦)

But seriously his ex and step brother are so annoying that I want to see how they would end up as a crying, pathetic losers.
