This time, in order to avoid trouble, Xiong Ye chose the weakest man in the tribe as his new companion.

In any case, he can afford him!

With his strength, he’ll definitely be able to let his own man eat meat every day instead of grass.

Honestly I love these kinds of long novels with lots of lore, that have their own little world, and then you basically see the wordbuilding from scratch from the perspective of a transmigrated character put into this world. i'll be frank I had never read a.. Pre historic bl novel? And I had a little bit of prejudice, but I was soon proven wrong.... The world was very interesting, and I liked to see it develop and also loved the various chapter centered around slice of life and cooking too.... more>> The pacing was nice, and even though there were lots of slice of life chapters, it didnt feel repetitive or annoying. Translation was also super good. I like ML, he's portrayed as energetic and passionate (also cute by MC standarts) but never dumb thank god. And also like MC... I though MC was kind of iffy, but then he grew on me, and I like how he solves problems, and has a very relaxed worldview, also that he has genuine ptsd and it isnt a problem that is easily solved for him.

So I was very satisfied, I put effort into reading this for days, was loving the war arc... And then s*avery happens.

This turned me off instantly and I was like wtf. I kept on reading since there wasnt frequent mentions of it but dude... <<less

Honestly if you're looking for something with heavy world building or the dark and gritty way human nature manifest, you won't find it here.

It's a very easy going story that doesn't require you to think hard on who's plotting against who and what not. While the MC is very OP, the author managed to balance it out. It's more slice of life than any kind of political intrigue or heavy world building.

The simplicity of it adds to the charm and the MC and ML are very adorable. They respect and... more>> dote on each other. No creepy possessiveness or hard to stomach non-con elements thinly disguised as romance. The mains are pretty clear about how they feel about each other and resolve misunderstandings very quickly. <<less

Disappointed. The antagonist is the most realistic character, the MC is so primitive it’s annoying but thats more expected. ML is OP but he’s POV is a bit annoying.

Spoiler

Shi Li is a good character and deserves better. Gets face slapped a lot which I found really annoying because he wasn’t even “scum”. He doesn’t owe Xiong Ye shit, kind of comes off as XY unconsciously groomed him at a young age. Understandable how SL wants his own life instead of being tied to XY forever. People fall out of love. SL also has some talent too bad since the protagonist’s halo is too strong.

I was a little hesitant to start the novel because of the Pre-historic era but now I am thankful that I actually read it...

The Novel was SOOOO GOOD!! It was funny and the characters had depth in them. There was character building in the plot.. Not only of the main characters but also supporting characters..

The Novel is funny, realistic and the plot is logical and fast paced that makes you unable to get bored.

Spoiler

I loved the fact that the Shi Li's character changed completely after rebirth and believes that he had the blessing of Beast God. That little sh*t deserved what he got.

[collapse]

Unlike other novels it did not lag and all the actions of the character made sense. Also it did not end abruptly rather the extras are very sweet which showed how their life progressed including a parallel world

Spoiler

The parallel world was the world in which Shi Li was not reborn and Zhou Ji gets dreams of his life with Xiong Ye and decided to live with Xiong Ye in that life too.

All in ALL the plot was great and can make you satiated

100% recommendation to read it <<less

1/5 DNF

It was fine for maybe the first half. After that it just got really boring. Even at about 1/5 of the novel it was starting to get old.

The writing isn't that great either. Simple but not concise. Not much world building but not much anything else either to compensate for it. The author liked to tell rather than show.

Cute and fluffy with a lot of animals and food! There's barely any conflict as the MC is very domineering so this is a very pleasant and easy ride. A lot of face slappings for people that needed it!

I absolutely love the intersection between the past and present with the rebirth of "antagonist" Shi Li and the transmigration of ML from a post apocalyptic world. I also love how the stereotypical shou who is the "homemaker" is broken in this story. Another interesting thing is the existence of dinosaurs.

Spoiler

I like how the author also writes about the previous timeline, where MC and Shi Li were married, and how MC and ML still ended up together in the end. It pushes all my happy fluffy buttons >///<

[collapse]

However, as mentioned previously by Fuyuneko, this is definitely a slice of life fluff story. Nothing is really explained as to how this primitive tribe ended up accepting/developing a lot of things, it just happens. I also wish Shi Li had a better outcome, because he really was the most "real" out of all the characters. Granted, because he was the most "real" I also didn't really enjoy reading too much about him. Haha
Spoiler

He definitely wasn't bad, otherwise in his previous life he wouldn't have taken care of his mother or brother. Its understandable that once someone has power and wealth, they would definitely want to see if there was someone "better" Let alone someone with power, most people go through multiple relationships first. Now that Shi Li has power and wealth and has seen more of the world and of other people. It's understandable how he would regret. And definitely with his second chance at life, and actually trying hard to cultivate, it would make sense if Shi Li was upset that he still couldn't beat our MC.

(First time reviewing and first/second tribal novel)

I personally liked it!

As someone said, the MC is OP and there isn't much tension in the novel, but I really liked it and had a good laugh too. The author had everything planned and you can see/read it on the extras how somethings happened.

Spoiler

Like the cave the lion "found" in his past life, or the force he felt in the temple. Everything was done by the Zhou of that life lol. Also, the MC has this trauma (?) and he gets crazy and destroy everything until he has no more strength, and if he didn't get crazy at that time, they most probably couldn't cultivate food and dinosaurs.

[collapse]

I read it in two days!

Maybe I liked it because I like OP characters and I'm not enjoying novels where the MC suffer too much (so I like quick transmigration novels) <<less

In fact, I had to read this novel all over again. Back then, I once read through this novel + MTL since it wasn't fully released yet at the time (I think), and it was a fun journey all the same. When I tried finding this novel before too, I completely forgot about the title, so I simply gave up until it found me again. I felt so delighted and attempted reading it within a day.

But of course, I couldn't. There's a lot of ongoing stuff I have to do... more>> in real life so I could only accomplish reading this within a week or so. Nevertheless, I have never been so happy to find this novel again, and read through it a second time. Since its been a really long time since I first read it, it felt like reading a new book all over again, and the best part is that I know I'm going to love it since I could still recall the feeling of when I first completed it. Unfortunately, I didn't have an NU account then and couldn't leave a review. But now I can.

I highly recommend this lovely, cute, and fluffy novel. If you're a person who loves an OP MC, silly MLs and lovable side characters, then this one is for you. The MC actually isn't that OP at the beginning, only later on, so you could see some growth. The only difference between him and the other Big Bear Tribesmen is that he had the knowledge of a man from the 20th century. He also has a brief but sad backstory that originated in the apocalypse. I'm so happy he was given the opportunity to transmigrate, and meet the ML in this well-developed, and unique Beastman world.

I would rate the world-building as a four out of five, because it was pretty well-structured, and comprehensive in the way the author described the world the MC lived in. We managed to scr*pe bits and pieces of who the original Beast God was from MCs speculations but it only remained as that. Bits and pieces. Mainly because this story is more focused on the MC and MLs journey. The plot is pretty good too, a five from me. I quite like the concept. Especially the MC and ML dynamics. Also, if you're wondering, the MC is ZJ and the ML is XY.

Though in the story, they often switch POVs so its hard to tell. But based on the tags, summary, and some details I scanned through in the novel, the MC should be ZJ, while the ML is XY.

I love their romance, and the only character I dislike in the story is SL. He's a bad man, through, and through. But I quite like how the author designed him. Sometimes villains are villains. Sometimes they don't need to be redeemed. Sometimes its just them and their character. I say I liked how the author designed him because he can indeed rile up some readers feelings within the story, making the novel feel more empathetic.

There's also a power-level system in this novel, so if you're interested, you can use this as a reason to check it out! Anyhow, I won't say much more. This novel is worth a read, and even a reread if you'd like to. There's not a single moment where I felt bored of the novel, and maybe you can feel the same way too. It's fine if otherwise. And not to forget the mouth-watering food occasionally described in the novel that can wet your appetite.

I feel like the other readers exaggerate it a bit, but I can't deny the fact I occasionally feel hungry before going to look for a snack whenever I find the time to read this novel. All in all, this novel gets a high rating from me! ^^ <<less

Complete (100% read) Highly Recommended! I went into this story completely blind and it was an unexpectedly fascinating story! I love novels that play with extreme environments, especially when they remain grounded in the rules of their chosen universe. Yes, this protag technically has a golden finger, but given this author's skill in writing unreliable narrators and very unique perspectives, the "golden finger" is very well integrated/actually has narrative purpose beyond "Making The Protag Super Stronk"

the emotional depth of the characters was also super well done! This story's approach to... more>> romance is *chefs kiss* VERY tasty, especially given how well the author shows each characters' perspective and understanding of their relationship. I very much encourage any reader to give this a shot!

A decently satisfying slice-of-life read.

There aren't any overly complicated storylines, and the humour definitely carries most of the weight here, but I still found myself reading every single word, which is a sincere reflection of how great the writing is.

The world building is quite neat and easy to understand, the side characters (though often lost in the background) are interesting with their own motivations, and there is a crazy amount of cooking mentioned. I had to eat before I continuing to read this at several points.

The other thing that really... more>> caught me at the start of this novel was the switching POVs, and I nearly teared up when Zhou Ji's perspective dominated the second half with us barely hearing any thoughts from Xiong Ye. I really wish his character was developed more TT, which why I'm so sad we only saw an older and more experienced Xiong Ye in the extras. Hottie Zhu Zhan also disappeared somewhere and I can barely remember why... <<less

I like this novel, but the misunderstanding trope is just getting too much for me. It just gotten to the point that I got tired of it and dropped it.

No kidding, I really like this novel. Along with the other reviewers that expressed the positive side of this novel, I am also with them. However, I am just not that kind of person that enjoys misunderstandings....

2.5 stars: A straightforward okay read with an indifferent/cold/lazy unlikeable protagonist gong and energetic manly himbo shou. Nothing ever really goes wrong for the MC and he faces very few challenges, all of which he easily overcomes because he's so OP and has plant powers that can do everything from ripen a field of potatoes instantly to eavesdrop on people hundreds of meters away (how is this a plant power?) to grow moving vines to strike flint together to start a fire. There are a lot of food descriptions and... more>> the MC is basically the god of cooking because he transmigrated from the modern-day zombie apocalypse into a primitive world where the height of cuisine is to stick meat into a fire.

The primitive setting is a beastmen one where all humans can transform into an alternate mammal shape, though a twist is that the world has no other mammals than humans and their beast forms, only fish, birds, and dinosaurs, lots and lots of dinosaurs. The author states that the setting is not historical, as if a world with beastmen in it could be historical lol.

The MC Zhou Ji is kind of unlikeable (seems to be a trend with this author, based on The Only Favourite Ugly Husband though at least ZJ here isn't a sociopathic colonialist a**hole) because he's selfish, lazy, indifferent, and really overpowered but disinclined to help people or literally do any work because life was so hard in the zombie apocalypse and now that he transmigrated he just wants to be lazy. The only times he helps people are when it aligns with his own self-interests, either because it'll make his life easier by helping the clan out for once or help out his mate, Xiong Ye, whom he fell in love with because it was convenient to do so and made his life easier. He has zero altruism and his kindness extends to "if there's no real effort involved on my part and it'll make my life easier, I guess I'll save your life". He also looks down on pretty much everyone as primitive and ignorant, while the text and the rest of the clan regard him as superior because of his mysterious advanced knowledge and good looks (seriously, everyone praises him for being so good looking and later attributing his super powers to "the Beast God must have blessed him with such powers and knowledge because he's so good-looking!").

The ML Xiong Ye is the golden retriever eager simple cute strong type, and he becomes devoted to ZJ very quickly because ZJ is good-looking (have I mentioned he's good-looking?) and can cook amazingly delicious never-before-seen dishes like fried eggs and hot pot and knows what chili peppers are. He really is a simple, straightforward, loyal guy who cares about others and not just the MC. It's too bad he ended up with ZJ for a partner, even if ZJ does actually treat him pretty well. I guess I just wish he could've found a partner who was less of an indifferent **** to other people and wasn't above taking constant advantage of him.

XY used to be engaged to Shi Li, who in another twist on the genre, is also a transmigrator/reincarnator, in that he's been reborn into his younger body after living a ripe long life and dying of old age. He's always been a selfish flighty **** though and later in his life resented that he became mates with XY when they were young and was never able to be free of him (divorce is unknown and mates are permanent in their society) —not that XY was ever anything but devoted to him and treated him well and saved his life over and over and taught him how to cultivate and become a beast king and etc. Etc., but SL wasn't satisfied because he wanted the freedom to sleep around and was always secretly resentful their whole lives that XY was more powerful and respected and better-liked than him.

Shi Li is kind of a non-entity though who exists solely to be faceslapped over and over again. Which, considering his personality and how he acts when reborn, he deserves.

If it's not obvious already, none of these characters have any kind of depth or complexity. They are all very one-dimensional, as are the miscellaneous side characters, not very many of whom have a real impact on the story or the CP. However, the story is still readable and straightforward, without any real plot twists, conflict that isn't immediately resolved by the MC being OP, and no angst or melodrama. There are the occasional funny bits and a lot of food descriptions. This is by no means a binge-read or super amazing story, but it's okay to pass the time while you're looking for a better read. It was non-annoying and inoffensive enough for me to mark this 2.5 star as a 3 star rather than a 2 star, at any rate. <<less

Very fluffy and easy to read!!

Both MC and ML are straight forward person who speak out their mind in one sentence. It's also because of that that this story barely have dramatic misunderstanding.

MC's ex-boyfriend is a real tr*sh. His character is so annoying but also important since this story won't be able to happen if he a little bit smarter lol

... more>> ML is soooooooo OP but that also acceptable and it's quite convenient for the story to go on as it is.

To sum it up, this story is just about cute strong bear and his super strong perfect mammoth husband doting on each other 😂 <<less

Mammoth is so funny. It was a bit hard to imagine things while reading because of everything being in weird sizes like MC being 30 meters tall sometimes etc. The MC reincarnates from an apocalyptic war world to ancient beast world The berserk mode and MC's mental state was well written. Their love story was slow paced and cute.

everyone seems to fall over themselves to please the MC when it’s revealed that he is strong. The plot essentially can be broken down into MC encountering a new group and beating them up. While there is some mystery in this novel the overall plot is lacklustre when looking back on it. The side characters essentially become very dull to read after a while. <<less
