Seon Jae-chan, the intelligence service’s ‘snake,’ a human ampler and success-oriented human specimen, was a guide known for his evil acts committed in the name of unrequited love for Esper Go Woo-jin.

When faced with death, he sincerely repents the past and wishes for Woo-jin happiness. Perhaps it was because of this that Jae-chan woke up again 6 years ago…

The person I wished to lean on and rely on was such a young person.

Woo-jin was much younger and more beautiful than he remembered. Jae-chan made a new plan, this time to become someone who helps Woo-jin and other important people.

[SUCCESS PROJECT] Jae-chan has succeeded in all projects except for his love for Woojin.

Will he be able to complete this project successfully as well?

Characters 10/5

Worldbuilding 10/5

Plot 11/5

... more>> Romance 1000000/5

The clues are there from the beginning. The world is so thoughtfully crafted and the plot had me teetering on the edge of my seat. The characters feel so real, down to the most insignificant fodder. The chemistry between the couple slow-burns from palpable to toe-curling in all the most perfect ways (and the smut and it's progression is soooo good, 10/5 on that too!) The ML is the hottest and greenest green forest while being just the right amount and type of obsessive. The MC is resourceful, committed and sensible, and so very sympathetic even at the start when he's trying to convince us he's a bad guy. He's not a bad guy, just a guy. Imo he wasn't that selfish tbw, just hurt, alone, and in preservation mode. (Perfect pure and excruciatingly boring Mary-sues have truly warped readers' perception if you ask me. But anyway..) The action, the mystery, the romance, the suspense, everything was perfectly drawn and executed. I read it in one go bc I couldn't put it away even when I tried to. I sincerely wish I could really give this book 10/5 stars bc it deserves nothing less!!!!!! <<less

The story was interesting and I'm sure it's really great based on the others reviews, and I would have loved to continue reading it because I like this kind of trope. But to be honest, I’m not sure if it’s the translation or the author’s writing style, but there were many parts that were hard to read and understand. The POV switches multiple times within a single chapter, making it difficult to keep track of who’s saying what. There were also a few instances where the words were mixed up,... more>> like "Jae-lips chan’s"... and some sentences were repeated with just a few different words swapped out. <<less

Incredible story. Intense emotions. Interesting world. The romance is slow, but in a way that makes sense, especially since the MC determination to put ML’s interests and needs first. (Even though most of that is misunderstandings bc of lack of communication). Still it felt very natural. The MC has severe insecurities and abandonment issues so his behavior makes sense. Truly though, my favorite aspect is his agency. The MC makes choices, plans, and fights for his own salvation through conflicts. Love it!

I really enjoyed this novel through and through. Big recommendation from me.

As a sucker for some unrequited angst, this read have been such a hurt and comfort. So many cute moments between the main leads. The plot is well written and I enjoyed reading a lot about ML inner thoughts and monologues. Almost everything ended in a wrap and I'm very much satisfied.

This is a great and slightly different regression story in the BL-genre that is definitely worth a read. Our MC regresses with a lot of regrets and trauma, he does his best to relive his life without as many regrets as the first time but contrary to many similar settings, he does not try to catch his love interest with all his hidden knowledge. If anything, he rather tries to stay away to keep him "safe from himself".

There are perhaps more misunderstandings in this story than what I usually enjoy... more>> but none of them are unreasonable given the story setting and what truly makes this story great is that our MC is not magically cured of his trauma just because he has regressed. He does his best to live a better life but still does some mistakes and it takes a long time for him to start valuing his own life.

Great read! <<less

I loved it. LOVED. IT. The translation was great the story was great and MC is the best, ML is okay. The story was fun, I was never bored. Just the absolute best. The s*x was consensual—no complaints. One of my fave guideverse stories. The world building was interesting. The action and climax was full of tension. Just really enjoyed it. Idk if it’s that it hit all my fave tropes or what, but this novel was like it for me

I really really liked this novel.

i was more interested in the plot than the smut at times, I wanted to know what would happen next. I really liked how the author decided to develop the plot and the backstory. I am waiting for the final chapters to unlock but I read everything in one day without stopping ahah

I really liked both ML and MC, especially the MC, he is very smart and knows how to react in most situations well. Also the author gave a story also to the secondary... more>> characters, which is something I like. ML is a green flag, I like how he adores MC.

the thing I slightly disliked is the misunderstanding, they have different ones and I don’t like when there are misunderstandings that could be solved pretty easily by communicating. <<less

This is highly recommended. However, be warned it is a slow burn and the MC is an unreliable narrator when it comes to certain things. This story will really show you how people can be different from how you view them.

Spoiler

MC and ML both have shitty families and poor upbringing. It really moulds them to be twisted grown ups who can't understand their own feelings. It tooks MC to die and reincarnate for him to realize he should treat his loved ones better. And it took ML to see MC putting his life in danger again and again to realize he doesn't like MC doing that to himself bc he loves MC. They are both cray cray for eo by the end though. It breaks my heart that MC thought ML could never love him for the longest time. But I like that they found some normalcy in eo.

This is overall greatly written. A good plot that was executed perfectly. <<less

Three words, I love it!!

The MC and ML are not perfect and both have made mistakes. But they are both really strong characters and I really love that about them

😊😊

Also, the novel had a really intriguing plot and good world-building. Reading this novel is really enjoyable ❤️

Mainly, I'm writing this review at this point in time because I want to shout out this series for their take on the guideverse! A lot of other guideverse stories I've read don't get super into detail into the exact mechanics of guides and espers to the point where the guide/esper setting feels like an afterthought, but I'm a huge fan of how this story explains it: Espers accumulate mental strain that leads to sensational overload when they use their powers, and Guides have the power to calm down Espers... more>> by aligning their wavelengths together. It's sweet and simple, yet somehow more detailed than I've gotten from a lot of other series—unless I'm just reading all the wrong ones lol

Also, honorable mention to the first R19 encounter between Jae-chan and Woo-jin because it was actually INSANELY and toothrottingly sweet?? Like I'm not even kidding when I say that chapter had me kicking my feet and giggling, it just felt so tender and intimate despite them not even being together... in a way that frankly wouldn't ever be possible between two people unless they cared for and trusted each other deeply.

Anyways, I'll update this review in the future after more has been released! As of right now I don't feel that I have any thoughts on this series that other reviewers haven't already expressed quite articulately. <<less

Really good with complex main characters that feel real, neither of them are perfect and their actions (Even extreme ones) make Sense in context

I will caution that it does deal with heavy traumatic topics; the coping tendencies/ PTSD symptoms are depicted well enough that it can be hard to read in large doses
