This got pretty bad, pretty fast. I'm sure it probably redeems itself somewhat later, but I just can't get over the ML. He's disgusting on such a fundamental level, that I can hardly even explain all of the reasons. The story does have some good plot points that could be fun. But the author completely ruins it with the ML. I also really, really, dislike the power down the MC goes through nearly right at the beginning. Now, if the story picked up and it was about her regaining her... more>> strength and overcoming difficulties related to it. I think I'd be all for this story, but by chapter 67 I'm so grossed out over the ML and frustrated with the MC that I want to scream.

This isn't worth it, I would even go so far as to tell the translators to drop it. It's just that bad. <<less

It was kind of hard to rate this novel because the writing is decent, the translation is good, but the story itself leaves a lot to be desired.

We start the story with an MC obsessed with power, to the point where he uses an ancient power which forcefully changes his gender and he loses his heir status. 20 chapters in, the MC loses most of her power in an almost humiliating way, showcasing how weak she is even after all her sacrifice (but now she’s even weaker than before). Then... more>> after that incident, the MC almost sounds like a tsundere damsel in distress heroine for the male lead that she was trying to beat.

I’m not saying every novel needs to be a power fantasy, but I definitely feel this novel missed the mark. <<less

It’s okay, the action scenes are good and magic system is interesting, and non-transmigration gender bender is fairly rare, so props. Subjectively though, I just found this frustrating to read.

The beginning of the novel promises this leap in power and I had the expectation that the power gap would actually narrow, but the first major villain basically cripples the protagonist and she ends up getting saved by the genius character anyways... and god, the power drop after that is just really frustrating? I feel like we didn’t even get to... more>> properly see the MC being strong yet.

Plus, I just don’t enjoy the ML as a character. Like he’s a standard dense shonen protag, which can be fine when done right, but reading from the MC pov, I just don’t see him as particularly compelling or interesting... so I don’t buy into the romance element either.

Anyways, based on whats being setup I’m sure this gets a lot better, but I’m not interested enough to keep reading. <<less
