The year he was fifteen, Ling Ke realized he was gay, and that he fell in love with a hot guy the same gender he was! Ling Ke spied on the other’s online friend group, paid attention to that person’s every move, and privately, started his fanatical fan-boying actions. Unfortunately, the hot guy he liked was someone who changed girlfriends like he changed clothes, a pretentious and straight male.

A few years later, Ling Ke and the hot guy he was secretly in love with got into the same university and became good friends. In order to prevent his beloved from hating him, Ling Ke repressed his true feelings and forced himself to pretend to be a 24k, pure gold straight guy.

Having high-spec looks, Qi Feng was a networking expert, but in order to preserve his all-around shining and popular heartthrob image, he always hid his true sexuality, that he was gay. He got himself (fake) girlfriends all throughout school, literally playing himself into being branded as a skirt-chaser.

Until one day, he met his true love. The other looked delicate and gentle, cold and out-of-reach, as if the ideal lover he’d dreamed of in his heart.

Except, there was just one thing. That guy also looked completely straight……

In short, this is the love story of two scared, in-the-closet gay guys pretending to be straight while mutually trying to feel the other out.

hnghh I just want to say that this novel is really "sweetness overload". I think this is the first novel that I really enjoyed, I don't really often read fluff and I'm more into slice of life (angsty but happy ending) stuffs, but this is really good!! The author really makes good stories and is underrated (idk in some places (??) lololol) I'm really hooked up with this novel, it's my first time giving a review to a novel. I finished this last january :pp

since there are people saying that ling ke has this biased opinions that are not based on his actual experience etc. (Also called "prejudice") reasons that many people are dropping cifb because of his judgements in heterosexuals. It's all up to you if you want to continue or not. To others, this opinions are just to supplementary or add-on humor to the story, and some think it's cute. For me, I think the author just made ling ke that "i-dont-know-how-to-act-straight-but-ill-try-based-on-my-calculations" character that'll just exploit the plot of the story. But above all of that, it's all up to you if you want to continue the novel or not.

Description doesn't fit the story well infact ML is bis*xual at least that what I read and MC does love ML but he is very shy and scared I taught it's going to be painful and honestly I didn't read the story until 6months after because I didn't like the description and taught they will have lot misunderstandings but even tough they do they are all cute ML actually makes a lot moves through out the story and MC thinks it's normal between straight guys I already read the complete... more>> story which was translated but is not in nu I guess translator doest put in nu you Google may you will find it but as for story it's sweet no dog blood but there is dog food ??? <<less

A very good and cute story.

The MC hides his emotions very well, appearing cold and calm on the surface when he's actually nervous.

The ML is cute and clingy and likes to show off in front of MC

Oh... What a heart-warming story. If you are looking for a cute plot to make you smile and feel all bubbly, go for it!

I want to comment how much I loved the chemistry between MC and ML... ML is not the kind of top that forces the bottom, thankfully; he waited for MC, didn't cross bondaries when the time arrived... Please, more MLs like this!!

Also... Just me who after reading this one, wanted to read a story about a love triangle between two brothers fighting for one guy? Qi Yu's... more>> teasing got me... <<less

Super cute!! Normally I don't like stories where misunderstandings play a decent role and characters are overly dense, but this one was very sweet. NOTE: You can find all the chapters pretty well translated online!! The translator calls them "summaries" but they're so detailed it's pretty much a translation in all but name. I really recommend them.

Such a cute story! Thanks to the commenter who mentioned the summaries, I was able to finish the story - though if there were more translations, I'd probably read it again.

It's sort of great to read a minimally tragic bl story with a fairly functional couple. I loved the minor drama from misunderstandings. And I love how the extras add a nice coda to the story.

I absolutely love this novel. At first I read the full translations, but after reading one of the reviews that said that there’s a website with the summaries, I couldn’t help myself so I ended up reading those instead and finished the novel in two days. This novel is so cute. I love the characters and I love how the story is so light and playful. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys romance novels.

Another one to add to the list of absolute favorites. To be honest, I was pretty surprised by how much I enjoyed this story. The synopsis didn't look too great, especially with all the emphasis on how the MC loved the ML first. But the MC's personality totally evened out the field, and gave us some amazing dynamics. It's also pretty hilarious that the title of the story is only relevant for a short period of the story.

Okay, so I love OP MCs. And yes, the MC here is pretty... more>> dang amazing. Tbh I'm most impressed by his ability to keep a calm and cold facade over all of his emotions, plus adding that to his handsomeness and apparently arrogant temperament to become someone similar to the ML. The ML is of course adorable, really clingy and affectionate all the time. And persistent in chasing the MC. The side characters definitely helped out a lot in this story. The friends are amazing, especially the ML's best bro hahahah. Best wingman, though probably only applicable for the MC. The big bro is also pretty tsundere, trying to help his dumb little brother under the facade of arguing and insulting him. Both the MC and ML's families are great, being reasonable and accepting of the couple. The ML's divorced parents are pretty damn relatable rn, and it makes me happy that they got back together even after a decade of separation. It gives me hope about the MC and ML constantly being together. Even I got emotional when the MC got that tattoo. Good for you, man.

Loved the adorable fluff in this story. Also, the s*x scenes weren't bad either. Many thanks to winter for the summaries, couldn't tell at all that they weren't translations. It's been a while since I've appreciated the feeling of being able to read coherent english for an entire LN. Recommend. <<less

This was such a fluffy read. I was reading “Agreement to be gay for 30 days” and Jnaomi suggested this. I feel mushed reading it just under 12 hours.

This is full of fluff and no angst and also one of the few novel where the ML and MC admitted they are gay and not something like, I’m straight but I love him.

This novel has the characters who are the most unpredictable amongst all I have read so far, especially the MC, who is also the most three-dimensional character I have seen for a while, an entirely different shou/uke from most danmei I have read. The plot is simple, very familiar, and cliché but kudos to the author for making it a lot more fun by creatively writing her characters to drive the story into a more intersting ride.

Dropped it the insant I reached chapter 35 because of a certain moment. If you are into:

    • Mentally deficient characters, including both the main characters and side characters.
    • Every chapter being 50% about how hot the main characters are and how every female character is in love with them.
    • Going around in circles all the time with the plot not going anywhere.
Then you will love this novel. First 6 chapters were really engaging, but once the college timeskip happened it fell off hard.

I actually dropped this once before around chapter 25, but I completely forgot why I dropped it and was excited to reread and finish it.. Really disappointed.

In its defense, its sometimes funny. Sometimes. Too bad I found it boring and frustrating mostly.

Torn about my feelings for this book. I actually liked a lot of it—I thought the double layer of sexuality hiding was hysterical, a great fake dating twist—but a lot of the ending fell flat for me and lowered the score from a 4 to a 3. Overall an easy fluffy read, and I don’t regret reading it, but in the end it was nothing I would aggressively rec to anyone.

10/10 Light and fluffy and hilarious! It’s about how gay MC and ML pretended to be straight while testing water with each other. No NC.

MC - cool and calm on the surface, wanting to pounce the ML

ML - friendly charming straight male, secretly squealing over MC arf arf

A great comedic and relaxing read! Seriously, extra point for making me laugh! Reread thrice already.

I actually really liked this novel! The premise was intriguing but I didn't have high expectations for it - turns out, it's so much better than I anticipated. This novel doesn't sell itself as more than it is, it's very simple and light to read, which is one of the reasons why I like it so much.

Character-wise, I really like these characters and how they fit into the story, plus how the author describes them, especially the main couple. Ling Ke is a very well written character, a great protagonist,... more>> and a very interesting person to read about. Qi Feng is really nice, almost the perfect guy, but is still tormented by his insecurities just as much as Ling Ke, ence their game of being "fake boyfriends" because they thought of each other as straight. The side characters are also a lot of fun and I wish we could get some more development for them but the novel isn't supposed to be super deep and overall I like the main characters enough that this isn't a downside to me.

The plot isn't anything ground-breaking, and overall this is just a fluffy heartwarming simple story between two university students, with its ups and downs, but it's that simplicity that also makes it so good and so much fun to read.

The amount of mutual pining as well as the slow burn romance is so well done, the pacing is neither too fast or too slow, and you can feel the tension oozing from the novel. It's so great. 👌 <<less

I love the fake dating trope in general, and I feel like this novel does a great job with it. Short, sweet, and with the right amount of perceived one-sided yearning I want from a story like this.

A very quick and enjoyable read. Nothing too exciting or unexpected, but not every novel needs that. Sometimes a cute story about two college guys pretending to be straight while somehow ending up in a fake relationship is exactly what I want.

Some well woven misunderstandings, good interactions between the leads and side characters, and overall read quite smoothly and engaging enough to continue reading to the end.

Just wished they were more brave or straightforward; felt like it could be cut short by half and we see more of the ensuing fluff instead.

Wish they dialed it up more—like if the MC were supposed to be this cold, low EQ antisocial person, he should be less equipped to deal with certain situations. Felt more like a convenient plot point than a strong character... more>> trait. The viewing ML as a distant idol to fanboy over the past 5/6 years also didn’t really form much of a barrier/solidify into a proper plot point for me. Like I would think there’d be an emotional barrier or line drawn with that sort of inbuilt thinking.

ML’s random love at first sight is also a bit hard to accept. Like I should expect it to develop to strong feelings based on actual interactions and understanding on MC; but for the earlier parts it seemed like he didn’t really know MC well (cannot tell his emotions/thoughts from his face paralysis), and just kept being turned away so I really don’t see why the ML would fall so deeply.

A storyline with potential but wish the execution was better. Still somewhat enjoyable though wasn’t very distracted while reading. Strong 3.5/5. <<less

A wonderful and fluffy novel. The MC and ML are two silly dorks going in circles.

At the moment, I have to stop reading because the translation quality took a dip after about 45 chapters on CG. It's unreadable at this point, as if the new translator doesn't even speak English + it feels like an unedited and not proofread MTL.

I would love to see how the story ends if someone else retranslates it. So far, 4/5 due to the writer using being gay as a justification for pretty much everything.
