Amamiya Hiroto is unlucky. His life consisted of misfortune after misfortune, culminating in an unlucky death during an incident on a school boat trip, trying to save a girl he barely knew. After death, he met a god of reincarnation who requested that the hundred or so dead passengers—one of them being the girl he tried in vain to save—be reincarnated into another world.

Yet a series of unfortunate events forced Hiroto to reincarnate with even less luck than before, starting with nothing but a tremendous amount of Mana. His second life, far worse than his first, came to a cruel end.

However, upon meeting the god a second time, he was informed that there would be yet another reincarnation—one that had already been set in motion and could not be stopped. Not wanting Hiroto to live long, the god cursed him before he was reborn in the hopes that he would either die quickly or commit su*cide.

Hiroto was reborn once more as a half-Vampire, half-Dark Elf. A Dhampir. Not wanting a fourth life, he is determined to live this third life with the only things remaining from his previous lives—death-attribute magic and his enormous Mana pool.

Great read.

Main character is interesting, and the revenge part is actually not destroying the story, which is good. Aside from that, it's good that
Spoiler

it doesn't revolve around the other reincarnated persons.

[collapse]

Also, the chapters are long and fulfilling, and the translation is good (no awkward English here).

Very interesting characters, especially Van, unlike most MCs he is very nice, he is very nonchalant about his revenge. He is very careful to try and balance getting revenge with his societal appearances to improve his chances 0f survival. His attitude towards death is also strongly affected by his control over it.

Great Series!!!

It's a bit slow in the beginning, but once you get through the first few chapters it really gets good. If you real have to compare it to other novels, it's like

Tensei Shitara Slime Datta Ken with a darker tone.

Someone else already said this, but this issue is they abandon the character they built up at the start. You get to see all the fuel for revenge and a brutal character, but that goes poof very quickly.

Going through my old bookmarks to back up novels, and I still remembered how unsatisfying this crap was (read years ago).

I read the raws. There's a fair bit of untranslated still left, as it finishes on chapter 513.

There's a fair bit of turbo cringe implied shota where everyone and their mother wants to marry him.

Spoiler

turbo cringe includes the MCs own mother

[collapse]

On the other hand it's a real easy novel with fairly long chapters (15-25 minutes on the reader I use) a decently made OP protagonist, a consistent character and some, but not unrealistic levels of character development. Good entertainment for like 2 weeks of listening day in day out, or over a month otherwise.

1 major drawback is the incessant spam of status screens as though those couldn't have remained implied knowledge. We don't need to know everyone's status, and the MCs status is too long to care about after chapter 200, and it probably doubles or more by the end in terms of sheer length. <<less

The first four chapters were fantastic. MC had multiple hellish lives, a unique and potentially overpowered element, instead of being blessed by a god he was screwed over and cursed by one. Gets yet another chance and swears to extract vengeance.

Sounds great so far, right?

Sadly though it doesn’t stay that way though. After that he starts a rather rapid transformation into a beta MC. He plans on revealing his reincarnations despite how much it could potentially screw him. Then his mother the ONE person who has ever loved him gets... more>> tortured and potentially r*ped (the author wasn’t super clear about it) to death. And guess what! He swears to get vengeance and kill them.

Then after more than a hundred chapters he never gets his revenge on any of them despite having the chance. And in general acting like another typical beta protagonist whose true purpose is to make a harem. I held on for 150 chapters hoping this would change purely because the immense potential at the beginning of the novel.

The only reason I’m rating this 2 stars instead of one is because the harem isn’t stereotypical and it has a good beginning <<less

Wow, usually I am not writing reviews, but this time I had taken time to do it as to warn you. This novel starts absolutely amazing, but then it goes straight from the peak into the deepest latrine. MC for no obvious reason simply changes his entire personality, all the trauma, and desire for vengeance vanishing. He is also absolute garbage who as literals emperor of the massive empires decides to use the dumbest way to obtain ID card. Yes, he sells street food. Yes you have heard right! He... more>> doesn't try to forge it, bribe the officials or.... That isn't the worst, he fo no peeping reason decides to go to school... with kids.... I have no words.... I simply can't... It simply starts to good and then goes so wrong I have started to question if the author changed behind the scenes or had hea injury that turned him into someone else. This... I am loosing my sanity when reading the later chapters of it... <<less

This novel is unique and interesting.

Well, how should I say... at first, I thought MC will be someone full of hatred because he got his terrible first and second life, got killed by his classmates, and his dead mother. But it's not like that at all.

Rather than hatred, he just lives his life based on his goals after some good reasoning and enjoying his life. He'll kill those gods because they messed up his life and put him some danger, he'll kill the hero because he killed his mother, and... more>> he'll attack the kingdom because he has to rejuvenate his empire.

So, although it's like a revenge story, but it's different from the usual.

it's not like "I want to kill you because you killed my mother" but more like "I need to kill you because you killed my mother".

I think our MC acts more like a god than the gods in this novel. He lacks emotion, but not completely emotionless.

At first, I hesitate about whether to continue reading this novel because of the ntr vibes in the early chapter, but I just think too much about it. For MC, she's almost no different from a passerby, he helps her at the start because he's kind and wants to help. <<less

First off: thank you, translator! You're doing a fantastic job!

After my first read through, I would have given this a 3 star rating. Usually I think about the stories on an individual basis, but after reading a few other isekais ad reading this story again from the beginning I ended up being committed to continuing to read this. Our MC may seem like a typical goodie two-shoes, but as you pay attention to his thoughts and actions you'll find he's not. He's crazy, but also tries to make decisions that... more>> won't ?disappoint? his loved ones and cause trouble for himself in the future... of course his intentions to reduce future troubles with the other reincarnators fails marvelously. Normally I don't like harems or ecchi, and admittedly there are stereotype moments I don't appreciate, but when meshed into the overall story and based on the values of the world he fell into I ended up giving it a pass. This work is calk fall of hilarious misunderstandings, twists and turns. I give this a 5 star with the understanding that this is a wildly unrealistic story (the vengeful part does feel realistic as I'm sure most of us are capable of holding grudges). If you want a story that makes sense, look elsewhere. If you want a story with easily hate -able antagonists, multiple races, personalities and various cultural values, game like leveling systems, some food elements, lots of complicated world and plot development, overpowered characters, crazy people and lots and lots of wacky 'WTF just happened?! LOL' moments -- you're here. <<less

Ch. 259.

The recent story become more refined, including the characters, more reasonable, even the comedy are better, not overwhelming like before so it doesn't get boring fast. Up to now, it's a good read. Update c177

The story become bit more interesting even though there are some typical repetitive comedy lines, still tolerable, well that's what people call fan service perhaps?. But there are still some unnecessary information being repeatedly cast into every few chapters such as transmigration system and how it works or skills that they only plan to use but not being used at that time but then explained again at the time of usage or in their leisure conversation time at the later chapter. Well, maybe for the word count sake. Btw, MC tendency for other people muscles is a bit disgusting tbh. Update:c.140.

At this point, I couldn't help but think that it's a novel about japanese cuisines and monster harem perhaps, since recently, two third of a chapter only about remake of japanese cuisine, complete with ingredients, processing and how it tastes, and of course monster harem talking about the taste of the cuisine and their lord's (?). Well, even if it took two thirds, most of it are unrelated to the current plot so it's okay to just skim through the chapter I guess. Latest read c. 130. Rate 6/10.

Not bad, description of each power, magic, and race & character are kind of detailed, even if the schemes were mostly only one or two layers, it's still enough of enjoyment. Fighting, interaction between character, development & progress of each char, including sides stories are interesting to read. More importantly, the translator are doing very great job, I appreciate that.

but the filler uwah uwah tiddies in heat parts that thrown across entire story and sometimes takes a third of the chapter makes the story not less interesting but kind of annoying. It's understandable if those overreact parts were for light comedy, but still, done in repeatedly way makes it more disgusting less than comedic.

Spoiler

Then again, Rodcorte which supposed to be an entity that exist for eternity known as specialist in transmigration, but making several fatal mistakes in row including s*upid follow-up no matter how I look at it. He's like teenager with planet-sized ego or a new employee in training, where did experiences from his long years in dealing with system go? I can't believe an entity like him to not have wisdom or some knowledge for overlooking the real problem. One or two mistakes are understandable, but then repeatedly react in such impulsive way are incomprehensible. He can be regarded as specialist developer/programmer that supposed to rely much on logical thinking than feel when it's coming to fixing bug, however, the hole in the curses, mistakes during distributing cheats, accidentally forgeting important rule & information, reaction when repairing the damages plus unreasonable follow-up doesn't makes any sense for a specialist. At least he is supposed to use his brain and not impulse, but it's more like

"oh, yeah there was a goat I sent on a whim before to neighborhood garden, it supposed to eat the orchad only but oh it's eating all the plants there, hmm, the goat can eat all grass? Why it doesn't understand my intention? Oh right, I forgot to mention my goal to the goat. Well, Whatever but that goat is no good, let's send another goat to eat that first goat to clear the problem, make sure the neighbor doesn't know anything" Wtf? This god described as "indifference" being whatever the world inhabitants are doing, as long as they doesn't mess up his transmigration system, so what in the world is happening when he decided to send violators to develop another world in the first place, with one that gifted "empty frames" Which clearly has unlimited potential, and the other one with "Unlimited development"? No matter what kind of POV one use to see it, those are trouble. Then, Now he care? Without permission, in such secrecy, then decided to destroy one of them and ended up damaging his own system? Didn't he just making enemies and destroying his own system?

[collapse]

Spoiler

Rodcorte is s*upid beyond help, unlike him, other gods are quite able to use their brain despite their personality and motives such as Alda, Furan, Nineroad, and others that already making appearance, oh, except that Lizard dragon god who fled from marshland to death continent, he's somehow s*upid. Since the s*upid are few compared to the brainer, let's hang on for a while.

[collapse]

Another annoying thing (up to the current chapter) is all the last boss always agitated and unable to properly think and act when facing MC, no matter how long they lived, how much experiences, how many times they face life and death battles. They'll somehow becoming rash in decision, and I can say agitated to be defeated.

There's MC personality that I thought supposed to develop based on his dark experiences across 3 different life but somehow doesn't seems to affect him much, but I'll leave it at that, maybe it'll change since I only read 130 chapters currently.

Now I have to mention that when one is reading this story they must take into consideration the following things:

  1. This isn't your usual run the mill isekai revenge story, he doesn't find it necessary to commit useless violence unless its needed
  2. The story is obsessively slow because it is building a world for the characters to live in, its not like other isekai worlds which first establish the characters then the world no if you were looking for instant OPness then prepare to be disappointed
  3. This story will focus on unnecessary stuff such as food and other things which is okay because each of these characters have things to do outside just fighting and being glorious in battle. It will focus on character's development as people, as individuals. This is a point I am going to stress a lot on because I see many people complain how there is too much food p*rn and other stuff going on but I mean if none of these characters especially Vandalieu who was set up as a boy who never ate any of these things and was happy when he first ate what he would call high class pork from a Orc had traits and hobbies this will be a very stale if not boring story. It is not supposed to have cardboard cutouts for characters but real living people who have hopes and dreams and other stuff. Its these small unnecessary details which make you understand these characters even more.
I see ch.40, ch.51 people reviewing this novel as 1 -2 stars but one really needs to read everything from the bottom and slowly rise into what they expect. This novel goes in 3 stages, Stage 1. Peaceful days filled with hiccups here and there Stage 2. Building up of the eventual fight Stage 3. Climax it doesn't just immediately begins fights but it builds... more>> up to it. And the world building. My god the world building is beautiful, the translation is beautiful too. I also see people having problems with him having a harem but he is not dense as hell, he knows very well that these women who genuinely love him and also knows that might change as he grows older and rather has a tough time. Potential candidates sure but that might change for now he is just focusing on growing up and being the best he can. To be honest it doesn't focus on harems that much and focuses more on his interactions with the world around him and it keeps on giving him stuff to interact with. <<less

Great novel. I feel like I've been reading it for a long time (the story really went far) yet it's still very interesting to read. I've dropped reading several other isekai's due to s*upid, boring or downgraded storytelling. But this novel didn't downgrade at all.

Pros:

relatively new plot for an isekai;

... more>> overpowered protagonist (if you like it) ;

lots of characters with their own story;

lots of chapters, very detailed world.

Cons:

overpowered protagonist (if you don't like it)

More and more characters as the story goes, less time for each, with current volume frequency you can start to forget who is who.

Some things are rather boring, even skipped a few of them: chapters about bravers, food chapters, magical girls. <<less

It's pretty good. But it got bad about halfway through. It hurts me to read 20 chapters of dialogue, followed by a minor fight, followed by more dialogue. The harem aspect is just terrible, and everyone kinda just treats him like a child, which he technically is, physically.

An extremely enjoyable read. It gave me the feeling that only few novel had ever managed to do so. The feeling that it's great to be alive in this world to experience certain things in life, and that includes reading good books. My ratings out of five:

Story- 4.5

Translation- 4 (just small errors that doesn't break the immersion at all. A huge thumbs up to Yoshi for doing an excellent job)

... more>> Characters- 4 (Even minor characters doesn't feel one dimensional)

So what I want to say to those who haven't read it yet is...

I had to stop reading, I just couldn't take it anymore. The story starts off as an interesting adventure/revenge plot but slowly becomes a kingdom building/conquering story. Usually that's a normal transition but the story spends so much time on the world kingdom building but it isn't even that great as I've seen far better. What really pushed me off was the fact that the story started focusing more on the side characters which is usually good but in this story there are just way too many characters to even... more>> keep track, it even got to the point where I had to use the wiki to remember who was being talked about (and that has almost never happened in all my time of reading). Another gripe is the main characters alignment is shown as vengeful and conniving to avenge his mother, but then he becomes more of a chaotic good aligned character and starts making weird decision a that don't really make sense or he just does stuff because he was emotional (this guy is like 40 yrs old at this point) which doesn't even make sense. You can also tell the author deliberately made the character a child for the majority of time so he can avoid having to write interactions with the weirdly aggressive cast. On top of that I even think that the main character is a cuck
Spoiler

there is literally a point in the story where one of his harem members says they will f*ck another guy and get pregnant because the MC wouldn't do it, and then she says her heart will always belong to him or so sh*t like that, and on top of that she want him to love the child like it was his own (you can tell the child will eventually fall in love with her adoptive father too)

[collapse]
but whatever I guess.

all in all I can see why some people like the story but it wasn't for me and was really going slower and slower
Spoiler

like I don't even know how the story could progress at this point, I mean he gets so strong that even most gods can't even kill him and yet he still acts like a manchild

[collapse]

p.s The best parts of the story are the side stories because the don't focus on the lackluster MC and instead in the more interesting enemies of the mc <<less

The first time I starter reading this I dropped it as the beginning appears to be a typical japanese novel, where the MC is subjected to a ridiculous disadvanteous bulling but ends up finding its own equaly ridiculous cheat. It, however, becomes a fairly convincing kingdom-building latter on.

Characters are decent as they each posseess its own unique trait or perk which makes them likeable. The antagonist aren`t tho, they are either plain evil or plain s*upid... more>>
Spoiler

the hero can slaughter a different intelligent race all the way to the children and still believe he is in the right, Alda carries on his plan to extint millions of life despite the disagreement of other 4 great gods

[collapse]

The setting is quite typical; videogame-like status, elemental magic etc... but since it is consistent and well organiced I don´t consider it a flaw in this series, the fact tha the MC is not invincible for having large mana pool is also apreciated. <<less

If you like twised protagonists or excessive world building, don't mind a slow start and a giant harem of devout devotees, and can wait for (suprisingly long) chapters this series is for you.

What made me like this series is neither the characters, nor the protagonist. It's the world building where this series seriously starts to shine. Sure, the story can be pretty cliché. The protagonist being totally OP and not really noticing can be a bit annoying, and the "villains" feel like the saturday morning kind, but here everything kinda... more>> fits together.

Protagonist Van is a total wreck. The two lives he remembers were pretty bad, then he gets his first "taste" of family only to get it taken from him.

Add to it cup of unjust racism and a few curses given to him by a god that effed up big time. Should turn into a tragic revenge story, no? Wrong, it turned into a (more or less) heartwarming story about a necromancer and his friends creating their own place in the world while trying to find a way to ressurect his beloved mother.

The author is prone to make Vans harem grow to giant proportions, and it feels like he will crack the three digits before even hitting puberty. But that's about the only thing I don't like about this series.

The reader is getting glimpses of the second world, where things start to pedal out of control after Vans appearance and death. As well as the lives of Van and his merry band of (not so) undead misfits.
Spoiler

But the real conflict and the real antagonist might still be way off. Alda and Rod don't really feel dangerous anymore, damn Rod even turned into comedy relief.

My bet's on Amemiya turning into Bellwood only to get himself used by his buddy, the obviously evil guy. Maybe even Rod and Alda getting played by the death fanatic wirepuller.

It's ok. That's it. It's ok.

It's not a 5 star novel. World building is great and you get a lot of information about the ideals of the world. Characters are also great with many getting lots of development.

It's the plot that drags it down a lot. It's a slow revenge story. In fact it's not really mentioned too much nor touched upon. If it comes up then it shoots to the front and then thrown back into the back burner.

It reads mostly like a slice of life story. It's peaceful.... more>> There are moments of war and battles but they appear every once in a while. This really slows the story down as well.

It's also the MC that boggles this story down as well. He lived through two lives of pretty much hell. Now I can't think of a reason how he can actually remain super nice to anyone after being killed by the other reincarnated people. It's a wonder how his personality remained so good. You would expect him to be more cautious or suspicious of people but you don't see this trait at all.

Good guys and bad guys are clearly defined in this story so a backstabbing character probably won't appear on the MC's side.

To sum my thoughts on the story. Great subplot, but extreme mediocre main plot. <<less

Everything falls apart at chapter 7. He goes from Wanting revenge on his past killers and killing the people that killed and tortured his mother, to forgiveness and petty practical joke revenge on the people that KILLED his f*cking mother for gods sake. The developmental change from chapter 6 to 7 gave me whiplash equivalent to a high end collision. The author removes the only redeeming and interesting part of the story, revenge. Now we only have a generic harem novel you see 10 versions of every anime season. It... more>> started so well. Don't be fooled by the interesting tags.

P.s why does the author think brutally mu*dering poor farmers that became bandits out of necessity is morally ok, but killing the mu*derer of your mother is not??? <<less

It's a good story, one that I actually find refreshing among the whole othere generes around and is quite good even in it's own genere.

Spoiler alert!

The ideea is about a revengful MC, however he is not the kind of pure instinctual killer. He acts on reason, still has a sentimental part to him, however he's not afraid of killing his enemies indiferently if their circumstances where justified or not.

MC tries to make a better world for him and his companions while killing those those that try to interfere too much... more>> (Heinz).

Also MC's character development is done quite good and his relationships with the others are portrayed good enough to give you an understanding about his thinking and how others view him.

Also it has a grain of comedy to it that is welcomed at the beginnning to was the dark scenes and mood a bit. <<less
