Bai Yang is the youngest son of a rich family who grew up spoiled, unambitious and having no one expect anything from him. He doesn’t really mind this though, because he’s still able to live a simple and happy life.

One day, however, his older brother got into an accident and is now comatose. Bai Yang’s father now has to consider his youngest son to take over the family business. Unfortunately for him, Bai Yang is a weak, timid, and cowardly child. How can he ever succeed?

Wanting to change his son’s personality, the father has Bai Yang transmigrated into the world of Wild Wind, a very famous fantasy novel. Bai Yang’s father hopes the environment of that world will shape his son to be more arrogant and domineering, as a child of a wealthy scion family ought to be.

However, due to an error with the Main System, instead of transmigrating as the protagonist, Bai Yang ends up becoming a cannon fodder villain, Xie Zietian, from the Demon Realm! In order to safely and quickly return to his world, Bai Yang has to ensure that the protagonist, Zhou Ying, ascends to the heavens so his transmigration mission will be complete.

In order to sneak into the human realm and help Zhou Ying, Bai Yang comes up with a variety of excuses to the Demon King of Eternal Night, such as…

Bai Yang, in a dignified manner: “Your Majesty, that person might threaten the demon world. I went to the human world to kill him for you!” (Actually, I went there to meet the protagonist.)

Bai Yang, proclaiming his loyalty: “Your Majesty, hang in there. I will go to the human world to find the elixir for you!” (Actually, I went there to save the protagonist.)

Bai Yang, with an attitude of selfless dedication: “Your Majesty, I just want to go to the human world to further your great cause!” (Actually, I went there to see the protagonist.)

The Demon King’s face remained impassive but, in fact, the tips of his ears were red. He was thinking: I can’t believe he loves me so deeply…

Demon King: “Hmph! Seeing how clingy you are, I’ll accept your love. Tell me! Whatever you need, I’ll give it to you!”

Bai Yang: “****! Your Majesty, I don’t love you.”

Demon King: “No, you love me.”

The Demon King truly believed Bai Yang and he shared a deep mutual love until he discovered that Bai Yang was having an “affair” with a “wild human” …

I really loved this novel, the comedic misunderstandings were perfect and I was constantly overwhelmed by how funny and cute the main couple were. I just wish the author had taken more time with the ending. I really wanted to see more extras or them talking after they woke up.

Later content is questionable. Not the best writing. Definitely not the best ML. But the novel was enjoyable in the beginning, follows its plot with no gaping holes, and made me want to know the end even after putting it on hold for ages.

Two points where the story took a major nosedive in my opinion:

    • c72, which handles (or doesn't handle) the aftermath of most of the review complaints
    • c92, where I made a note: "dude, this behavior... is so bad, like this isn't love, the disrespect, I kind of want to drop this"
      Spoiler

nonconsensual punishment through s*x (suppose it might be dubcon but eh) and scaring Bai Yang with a 'pregnancy pill'

      [collapse]
Second hump took way longer to get over. But having read the last few chapters while cursing the ML's character setting, the book ties up all the loose ends nicely. For a casual read (it's mostly a comedy until the end), I thought the ending was satisfying. As a book, I give it a 4. As a romance, -66666.

Honestly, let me just start with the MC. The MC is quite lovable and funny BUT can be really annoying sometimes. That "sometimes" refers to when he interacts with the system. THE SYSTEM ESPECIALLY OH MY GOODNESS. Literally so annoying. The og MC of the novel is quite cute but again annoying 😭. The ML aka demon king is quite fked up and loveable at the same time? But he should really ffs educate himself about consent. But in reality, after all he is the demon king... still- ugh idk... more>> what to say BUT I LIKED THE MALE LEAD ITS JUST THAT SOME OF HIS ASPECTS I personally would not like to defend or acknowledge. What he did was indeed wrong. Other than that the story is quite good compared to the many xianxia demon etc novels. The plot moved smoothly and the characters had good developments too. I guess ill give it a 8/10. GIVE IT A TRY. Those part that makes you uncomfy just skip them like me 👍 <<less

Before you start this read the tags, I see alot of reviews talking about it and I'm like please read this tags before you start a book.

This novel is honestly so funny Bai yang is such a hilarious character, he had me laughing every chapter. His and Xiao ling relationship was so funny and amazing to read.

The demon king is also a cute bunny his narcissist personality reminded me so much of Feng Xiao from peerless. Also the fact that any little romantic thing the MC did greatly moved him... more>> even though the MC didn't really mean anything extra to this action was so cuteee.

If your doubting if you should read this, if you definitely should it's such a good read and will easily make you binge read. But remember to read the tagsss. <<less

I read this twice and both times it's a 5 ⭐️ read

this is the best misunderstanding book I have ever read, and it's hilarious it'll keep you smiling happily until the end.

I wish it was longer don't know why the author chooses to let it be so short an there were plenty of opportunities to lengthen the book but hey it was still a fantastic read.

the only negative thing about the book is that all the hot stuff got cut, but the MC still talk about it so you don't... more>> miss much.

READ! READ! READ! <<less

There are good reasons why this one isn't a 5 star story.

Besides from the obvious complaints of r*pe, dub-con, and similar stuff, the Demon King and the MC actually doesn't any chemistry. Although the misunderstanding was hilarious and it was the main reason how the DK fell for the MC, based on their personality, they still lack chemistry. In a realistic situation, the relationship would have fallen down to an unrequited love, or forced love. Honestly, the MC had more chemistry with the protagonist than the DK.

Speaking of the protagonist......... more>> aigh... I'm sad that he really is nothing but an NPC in the end..... The ending of the novel felt complete, yet also left me wanting to know what happened to the rest of the characters who were still alive? I kind of wish there was a spinoff novel, or a sequal to this novel for the protagonist.... except he also ends up in a BL alternate universe or something. Lol

Aside from all of that, I found this novel funny and would definitely turn it into a meme if I feel like it. Lol <<less

  • Rating may change since I've temporarily put reading this on hiatus.
Oh god, when I saw other reviews at around the chapter 50+ mark claiming that the future progress irritated them, I felt very validated. He gets very insufferable. It's already pretty obvious at the start that the MC didn't have a backbone, but it was still bearable since he was actually up and doing things, forced by the circumstances as he is. In a life or death situation, he still has the inclination to do the right thing, even if... more>> he's unaware of how karma would bite him in the ass afterward. Like yeah he probably won't do it a second time knowing the risks involved, but at the very least, you know he has the gut instinct, however dumb, to do the right thing.

And then this happens:

Spoiler

He gets stuck in the palace because of some scheming from the ML and begins to never have a plan at all. The scheming isn't even outwardly harmful to the MC, just outwardly audacious, to the point where I find the ML just a bit pitiful. But that's not the point. The ML may be unlikeable at this point in the novel, but the MC even more so. The MC's whole plan is to just—annoy his subordinates so much that they ask for him to be fired. That's it. It grates my nerves for some reason. You have to be kicked out (as per your goal) and you're even relying for other people to do it for you. The Demon Lord ML, who kind of has a crush on him now, is at his beck and call. He never strived to improve because he's supposedly a rich young master before. Congrats author, you just blasted off your MC relatability to outer space.

[collapse]

Additionally, there's a lot of, what I'm guessing is, internalized h*mophobia written in the POV of the MC? He doesn't explicitly say he hates gay people, he's just often very disgusted of the thought of flirting with guys. Maybe I'm exaggerating. After all, those thoughts were numerous enough that it grated my nerves, and I did not have the patience to read through it. I am sure, however, that to this chapter I read, he dislikes it. If you can read through the sludge of "... but I am a man!" until he gets over it, then fine, but I'm grasping at the ends of my straw here.

I still would finish this novel, but I felt so disappointed. <<less

I really liked it. Till chapter 70. The author f*cking screwed up everything then.

MC wanted to help ML and was taken advantage of by ML? In the most painful way? And then got manipulated by that system (I hated it from the starting) and blamed himself??? Then the ML really got Qi deviated and MC "helped" him out of his "love" while ML couldn't control his d**k and f*cked MC again???? Without any self-reflection?? And MC blamed himself again??? Then they got into a relationship???? Everything went normal???

That goddamn system what's wrong with it??? I don't understand why was it like that? From the starting.

I feel so sick and frustrated! I know s*x and r*pe don't really have a difference in being portrayed in BL especially in transmigration/QT novels (atleast the ones I came across) and are painted with ""love"". And I suffer a lot from it everytime. But what the hell is this?!! Am I supposed to enjoy this??

That system actually blamed MC for blaming ML? That it was his fault for stepping forward to help ML and then expecting him to not doing it further? Especially when he has "feelings" for MC..? Even after knowing the ML took advantage of MC, it wanted to laugh?? What the f*ck!?

Demon king (ML). Shown as a gentleman till chapter 70. I don't actually understand how could he immediately take advantage of MC without a hunch of guilt and dared to torchure him all the night! Just because he couldn't control himself and MC was cute??... and he still says he loves MC?? Does he?? I don't think so. He is after body not the person. I hated it everytime this is gaslighted as love! I physically felt nauseous at ML's twisted way of thinking.

MC. His reaction was natural right after the r*pe. But how could he take all the blame on himself and recover so quickly??? He didn't mind when ML f*cked him again. He finally confirmed he "loved" ML and forgot that he was r*ped?? He just forgave ML? In the name of "love"?? He developed a psychological shadow after the first time it was obvious but everything went normal???

It is so obvious how he was just written according to the authors will. Just like a 2D lifeless character. And it felt like the author was sure this type of twisted thinking and victim blaming is right.

I cannot just enjoy this type of after-effects. Not even in my imagination. And I am even more sick at how the author just involves love in this assault. Where the heck is love??

I love the plot. I like everything other than the relationship of MC and ML, system and ML.

[collapse]
Reminder : The content in the spoiler is my ranting that some of the reviews have already mentioned. Ignore the novel if you cannot stand it. And ignore the spoiler content if you don't mind it.

Edit : I somehow forced myself to complete the novel for the sake of everything else other than the content in the spoiler... and I don't really regret if I disregard the content of the spoiler.

Plot was maintained. Ending was good without any rush. There was some suspense but it did not really surprise me.

What I loved is the well-paced plot progression. Main characters were not flat but also not very interesting. Neither deep nor complex, just OK. Same for the story. It's okay. But I enjoyed it a lot. Some of the side characters were interesting. World building was not confusing. Character maintenance was as confusing af sometimes (eg : refer to the spoiler) but you can ignore if you can.

TL;DR : Everything was just OK. But I enjoyed a lot (except for the content in the spoiler).

  • this was good until about chp 70, it had an interesting flow and the mc's actions are not quite predictable it was an enjoyable read at the start, the misunderstandings of the demon king and the MC is really cute and I find myself smiling every time because of the demon king lol.
  • it's kind of refreshing to see an MC where it doesn't take them 1000 chapters until they finally realize their feelings, MC is not smart but not dumb either. I can see his development throughout the chapters and it was pretty nice.
  • ML reminds me of Lan Wangji from mdzs with all the tsundere and reddening of ears y'know he was very cute, I liked him at the start until chp 70 :/
... more>>
Spoiler

it feels like the ML turned into someone else, he papapa'd the MC when he told him not to and doesn't seem to care because "it felt good" or MC was "too cute" like he literally promised not to move inside MC. I feel like he only cared about feeling good and disregarded how the MC would feel. It's frustrating to see him think that MC forgave him when he broke his promise just because "he loves me" ://

[collapse]

  • the system is so annoying, feels like it's just there to say a few words, say something to MC to do something so goddamn obvious and useless since the start.
overall, my final ratings would a 3/5, plot is +1, characters -2, and comedy is def +2. I wish the author sticked to the comedic romance between MC and ML rather than driving onto non-con/dub-con trope cuz it really ruins the originally comedic romance imo. <<less

I totally love it! Many actions, comedy and almost no drama.

Its was so fun and refreshing to read that it’s simply amazing. I really like the story and the characters. There was no way to guess what would be next and that’s nice. We can also clearly see the MC development and changes. And the same goes, but in smaller amount, for the ML.

this couple is so nice.

I also like the world setting. Maybe not all of the things were totally reasonable and logical but we don’t need it here... more>> more then there is already.

Fun, refreshing, light. A lot of comedy here, and even if you will cry it will be from how much your laughing. Really recommend this p, especially is you search for some not difficult read.

Totally recommend. <<less

Hmm actually this story has a good premise and storyline. Problem I think is in the execution — the turns are too abrupt and the relationships are both too deep and shallow at the oddest times. Also has very poor boundaries in terms of s*xual consent — reader beware of triggers.

interesting concept.

has some really good funny moments and some really terrible ones.

the whole backward courtship thing was funny. Last arc with the actual hero of the story was funny too. ML saying it's the MC's fault he couldn't control himself in bed and didn't stop while MC actually got hurt because he was 'asking for it' was not funny and gross. Drags on a bit in the middle. Especially since this is a VR world and MC knows so its kinda hard to root for him to stay?and just die... more>> in RL? Like the MC the reader can only shove their head in the sand and pretend everything is fine.

overall it has fun moments if you like miscommunication as a trope and at least it does have a good proper ending and reason for why things happened as they did. Warning for dubcon for most of the s*xual parts until pretty much the end of the story where MC is used to it. But I did not find the last scene funny just s*upid. <<less

Average writing.

MC's elder brother is in coma so his father send him to transmigrate to shape his character. But he can die there. Like, wtf. Is his father dumb.

The MC's personality is very bland for me. He's just going through the motions. Nothing special.

It became too boring so I chose to drop it.

I haven't finished this novel and might continue to read it in the future, but the new chapters just made me disappointed of ML. Overall I like the beginning but at some point the MC is becoming too kind or too trusting. I'm here reading this and the system is like chill with this and I'm annoyed for right reasons. I thought it be more comedic and fluffy but it just ain't hitting it as it was at the start.

I am currently following the translation and can say this novel is fantastic.

Good, interesting plot, characters with wonderful character growth, and a reasonably paced romance (that isn't abusive or forced).

This novel is comedic, and it's executed perfectly. It grabs your attention from start to at least as far as I have read!

Great entertainment and definitely not a waste of your time! I would recommend to anyone who enjoys reading transmigration BL. It's a pleasure to read.

Update: I am no longer following the translation! Got too impatient.
The MTL isn't too hard to read, and the story continues to be pretty funny and the ending isn't bad either. 9/10 overall!

I love this novel. It's interesting to read and you'll be laughing while reading it. The MC and the Demon King are so cute together but I honestly like the Demon King more because he's so cute especially when he's blushing, hahaha. But to be honest, this is not the best quick transmigration novel that it's still good and I love it.

Highly recommended 💯

For a chinese bl transmigration novel this is a decent read. Understandably, the genre is very, very niche, thus, plank is literally in the ground - as long as it exists it is a decent read.

Characters in this novel got a semblance of character, and author is even trying to preach some sort of morality to reader which makes it automatically better than a half og of the reads.

Big thanks to the hiohbye for latest updates.

It's a good binge-read if you'd like something to not put much thought into. There are quite a few plot holes [/the system strikes/electric shocks MC if he goes ooc, but it never comes up again after a few chapters] but overall it's a pretty good story, I loved the male lead and the mc's interactions at the beginning of the story, also the interactions with xiaoling the system. I stayed up late reading this novel hehe. I'll go to sleep now.
