Very good story and very interesting characters. It would have been perfect if not for the author who's very annoying. Every chapter, there would be so much information dumps that are absolutely irrelevant to the plot. I feel like the author included them so that the chapters would be longer. As a result, the chapters are a pain to read especially when the author is explaining abouf useless stuff. An example of this is when the author used almost half of the chapter explaining why there are no swimming classes... more>> in winter even though they can just heat the pool with magic. Author, are you serious? Such a shame, because the plot is really good and almost all the characters are interesting. Unfortunately, the author have a very terrible writing style to the point that I want to drop this. If you have the patience for reading nonsense chapter fillers, then give this a try. <<less

Not bad, It's a common story that execute it's tropes well.

The pacing is slow at the recent chapters. It does flow very quick when binging so you're better off not reading this till later if you're planning to read it.

I really like it. At first, I thought the academy arc was gonna slow down the pace, but once we got there even though it did slow down the pace, the series itself just improve.

I'm looking forwards to continue reading it.

I'm so bad at making a review, but here goes my incoherent ramblings.

There are chapters that can be so painfully wordy but only something barely happens. Something. Yeah. The "Demon prince going to the academy" happened on further chapter than I expected, you know like further than chapter 1. Overall, It's not actually bad that the author used some of chapters for the sake of world building (lmao idk if I'm using that word the proper way).

This review might sound like I'm dissing this novel, but no. I like this... more>> novel enough to write a review about it. But of course, that is subject to change. If it maintains this quality, that would be dope.

TLDR: good read, needs more translated chapters, cool cast of characters <<less

This novel's too wordy for me. It's full of nonsenical monologues and details that doesn't contribute to the story at all. It also keeps picking on cliches but doesn't really differ that much from them. Overall, horrible pacing. Decent setting and story. Good characters. It's just, the word count is atrocious compared to the story progression.

, the MC is cunning and smart but that is the only thing that's going for him like he might have a foul mouth and temper but that's the only thing MC character brings too light. Also they are really dragging the school plot it fills extremally slow.

Well overall I still want more and rate it 4/5 because it's funny hopefully they do better in the future. <<less

This is really fun. No big complains so far, the plot does get a bit slow in-between the prologue and the start of the academy arc, but it's worth it. The comedy is top-notch, which is rare for a fantasy/isekai novel. Translation is pretty good, a few petty grammar errors here and there, but it stays consistently good. Hoping more people pay attention to this, it's certainly special.

Part 1 is a solid 4/5.

Part 2, however, feels weighed down by forced sadness and too many plot holes. I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish it, but time will tell. The constant imposition of his views and reasoning also feels overwhelming and hard to bear.

There’s too much emphasis on emotions like sadness, which could've been implied from action. How the character feels is always narrated explicitly, which sometimes makes it cringe. The overuse of explicit descriptions reduces the reader’s ability to use their imagination.

Like every other review said, it was really good novel at the start. But I just got tired of all the bullsh*t much earlier than other reviewers.

I won't talk much about other things because other reviewers has already mentioned them.

Academy life was interesting and his interactions with students was really enjoyable. But after 100 chapters I realized how much unnecessary words author likes to put in a chapter. Like author explained an incident then in the next paragraph the MC will monologue the details about the same incident in exactly... more>> same word then he will monologue same words and then explain it's consequence. It irritated me so much because I felt burnt out after reading the same info again and again.

My biggest disappointment about this novel was how the character of ellen was portrayed. I actually quite love her because her interactions are always enjoyable but I hate how author made her. really minor spoiler:

Spoiler

So we know pretty early on that she is the younger sister of the hero so we can guess she has talent but it quickly get out of hand. She has so much plot armor in the form of talent that I feel like I haven't seen this thick armor even with MCs with lazy writing.

Like she is insanely good in fighting but it makes sense because she is a hard worker.

She has sooo many talents that academy only showed few of them and those talent are so OP that a single talent like that can only appear in once a thousand chance (a speculation). It clearly shows how much of a cheat it is after seeing the price of a single talent in MCs shop.

She can learn anything, she can wield any weapon without much effort, she can learn fighting skills that others take years or lifetime in matter of months.

As for the reason, she is talented.

It is hinted that she can't cook. Oh so it means there is something she can't do... NOO. she learned and got so better at cooking in just a semester that she can get sky high praises from dukes daughters who has only eaten best. As for the reason for her such skill growth? yeah it's talent.

She is so good in studies that she can beat anyone in exams without even a little studying. The reason? yeah talent.

She looks a little slow or dumb but she is insanely sharp and intelligent that she can solve the 5 days group exam problem in matter of hours that even smartest person with the studying talent related to intelligent couldn't. You can't guess the reason for that.... it was talent.

MC says that she is not good in interpersonal relations but I never felt like that, at least she is a thousand time better than our so called middle aged MC who doesn't show a speck of wisdom that comes naturally with age nor he knows how relationship works except at the start of story. he just shows unnecessary jealousy and guilt sometimes and many times respectively. She is so much better at analyzing, planning, leading and every other little thing a adventure needs without ever going on one before. the reason is TALENT.

MC gets a talent but he can only use that talent properly in the future,

he gets a second talent but that's also for the future, he gets/copies? a skill but that's wont help much now either. Then he copies a skill from overpowered ellen, that means that he can now increase his growth speed? f*king Nooo, he can only keep up the previous speed because growth should slow down after initial stages AND ellen is an exception who can still grow at a dozen times faster speed even after surpassing 4th or 5th year students in strength in her 1st year. BuT what is the reason?? SURPRISE SURPRISE it's talent.

Then he gets his 3rd talent and even gets additional benefit that can make him strong but What happens? That can only work in the fk ing future.

He actually keeps getting stronger steadily but it felt like a crawling speed. Author tried so hard to keep ellen an OP character and so she can keep up or even stay ahead of MC even in end stages that he completely and utterly destroyed the idea that there was a reason for every little thing. This can be interfered with the secene where it is explained why students couldn't use swimming pool in winters. It is clear that author kept his bllsht of giving plot armor to ellen so she can stay ahead of MC even tho he has a op cheat.

I felt like if I ever met author I would hung him upsidedown down and tickle him to death for writing such sht development even tho he was so good at writing and there was really no need to try so hard on ellen. She could have kept up with MC in strength without so much bllsht.

[collapse]

Phew, I am so mad rn because I am hating this story because one of my favorite character. anyway at first it was 4.5 but now it is 3 or lower. And as far as considering future developments according to reviews it's a f*king garbage at 2 stars. <<less

This novel has a simple issue: It lacks depth.

At first, that isn't as big of an issue since the story operates in a much smaller scale, although there are still plenty of plot holes enough to make one drop the story—as I almost did. Once the story moves past the academy, however, the lack of any description becomes infuriating.

For the first 400~ chapters, the story revolves around the characters and the rather simple events surrounding them. The lack of description about the world around isn't as important as the characters,... more>> since the focus are the very characters. As soon as the story expands and gets more complicate, however, that ambiguity starts to weight down, a lot. There is hardly any mentions of numbers, of geography—aside from names—or any characters, or any action for that matter as the author decided to simply not write about the fights during the "Gate incident."

From my point of view, the story is about how Titles can hold a person down. They come with responsibilities, and one is meant to bear those responsibilities, as is their duties. The Demon King is supposed to be the Demon King, and the Hero is supposed to be Hero, just as the Emperor is supposed to be the Emperor. They are merely cogs in the wheel, without any power to make their own decisions. In a way, that is true, but not in here, not in the way the author portrayed the subject.

After the "Gate incident, " the Demon King's strength was never specified, as the author simply refused to write about any conflict. We know that he is strong, but the extent of it. The Hero is arguably the most powerful human left alive, with the close second being the Swordsman who swore undying loyalty to the Emperor. What that means is that the three powerhouses of the story are not enemies, and have more than enough power to either let humanity die off or end the gate incident—and neither of the three are enemies.

The real "enemy" here is are the "masses, " the voice of the "people" who want the Demon King dead. I understand the concept. It is a good concept—if done right, which is not the case here. Once the story expands, the writing should have gone with it, but instead, we remain reading the same high school drama that was happening before 95% of humanity was wiped out by monsters. Worst yet, since the story so far wouldn't allow for a conflict between the Hero and the Demon King, the Author shoved an idiotic idea for the story to move as he intended.

It's not a bad read, per-se, but it is extremely infuriating. There are huge holes left and right, it has very little depth, and after a while, it's just a cheesy high school drama masquerading as something else. <<less

First half was excellent, I was glued to my screen wondering what would happen next. Last half had me incredibly annoyed in multiple ways.

One of the thing I loved most from this novel was the MC's personality. He is smart, brash, confrontational, and refuses to take sh*t from anyone who disrespects him. Anyone except...

Women. The female MCs get away with so much in this novel later on. They could mu*der his puppy and spit in his eye, and he would still find a way to forgive them and blame himself... more>> for it. News flash author: That is not how the world works. Women don't just get a free pass; there should be consequences for their bad actions, same as with men. And no, them feeling bad about their actions later on isn't enough. I don't care how much Reinhardt cares about them. If anything, being okay with their bad actions is something you would do if you DIDN'T care about them.

Some nitpicks I had was the original protagonist not getting much attention, and the incredibly OP

"Ask the system something and it will give you an answer in the form of riddles, one easy but dangerous, the other difficult but safer" introduced early on not being used nearly as much as it should have.

Read the first 400 chapters, then pretend the novel entered a permanent hiatus. You'll thank me later. <<less

TLDR: Author’s writing went to sh*t after 435 chapters. First 400 chapters 10/10 loved all the interactions and developments between FMCs and MC (SoL romance stuff etc.). Last 300 chapters 4/10 because of how badly it went downhill. Would give it an even worse rating but I personally found Ellen and MC’s situation to be so endearing and heart-wrenching I read on.

Personally I felt that the author did such an amazing job making me invested in each of the FMCs - especially Ellen as her relationship with MC felt so... more>> genuine and I found myself rooting for her the more I read on in the earlier chapters. AMAZING experience at the start but don’t expect the end to be the same. <<less

Finished reading this novel and I had to make review for it so I can digest it's contents for once and all.

The story begin in similar way to a lot of novels that I read but this one really stand uniquely.

The protagonist I like him, he have his good and strong parts and he have his bad and weak parts, he's not perfect and he's not really an awful character to read he definitely deserved a better ending not this bittersweet one?... more>>
Spoiler

(The MC and Ellen reconciled, that what I understood from the last chapters of the epilogue but the process was not mentioned for anyone to verified that)

[collapse]

as for the other characters I can say that some of the side characters got what I think their deserved ending but some needed a more in-depth for their story conclusion.

I wish the author would explain more about the System the MC uses, and what happened to system in the epilogue

and what is the MC reward for overcoming the final event of the story if the life the MC is living in the epilogue is his reward that would be understandable but if the author still have plans for the story to be used later like what is happening with MC children and his former classmates in the form of extra chapters or in the form shared-universe.

I need answers for that.

the story was nice and easy going in the first half it was enjoyable made me curious as how the story would unfold, it gave me hope that the author would make the MC get a happy and satisfying ending after all that work to save the world but after the the events that marks the turning point of the story I wished that I didn't read the novel in the beginning

but I had to read it because I needed to know what would be MC ending, and every character ending, that the author wrote in this work.

I gave this novel a 4.4/5 rating

I wish the manhwa adoption would be more merciful and maybe change some of the story hard to swallow parts or make it more in-depth explained

I have been reading the manhwa and find a small different in the story progress between the novel and the manhwa
Spoiler

in chapter 46 of the manhwa there is a different form the same events in novel, they skipped the part of the story in novel where Charlotte finds a blond hair that belong to the MC in Eleris bedroom and Eleris respond that it's her boyfriend hair, and they also skipped the part where Charlotte tell to MC that Eleris is suspicious that part of the novel happened after they left Eleris shop. In the manhwa however it's been done as they are in the Eleris's bedroom.

now if I recall correctly the when Charlotte and Ellen start to investigate what pointed to our MC identity to be the demon lord was the fact there was blond hair in Eleris bedroom before the need for our MC to come and go to deliver letters between Charlotte and the boy.

what I want to say after all this that maybe the unfold of our MC identity reveal might be different, there the Black Order who can still pull the strings for the Heroines to revel MC Identity or Bertus is the one will reveal MC identity or maybe with what already happened in manhwa is enough point to our MC identity by the Heroines

If I were to describe this novel in a word, it would be "tiring".

Quite frankly, I don't think I've seen a Korean MC who just can't seem to stop lying. Even worse, you want to lie, it's fine, just own up to it, but what's up with the nonstop melodrama and angst?

The MC is, to put it simply, a normal guy like us. He's not one of those genius Korean MCs that can plan hundreds of steps ahead. Nothing wrong with that. Not being an omnipotent genius is fine, why... more>> are you so goddamn impulsive as well?

Almost every single thing he does is borne entirely out of sheer impulse and emotions. And then once things spiral out of control, he freezes, angsts around, and then promptly runs to nearest bigwig to hide behind them. Short of the few occasions where he actually needs to fight something to get a new upgrade, the above paragraph can easily summarize every single thing he does until chapter 600 or so. Every single time. There is absolutely nothing he does that is not s*upid, emotional or brain dead, and every single time will end up with him running to hide behind someone else's skirts in one way or another because he failed to think about the consequences of what he did. Then there's the lies and melodrama misunderstandings. Absolutely non-stop, to the point where you have to wonder if he has a complex of some kind or if he just plain ret*rded.

Got an assassin after him? Keeps quiet about it, driving everyone else to worry about him and take their own action. Resulting in an absolute cluster f*ck where everyone is doing their own shit, and at the end, when they all bump into each other at the end, they get angry with each other because, "I don't want to put you in danger!" and then arguing and angsting at each other.

but hey, all of them were apparently okay doing solo su*cide missions up to that point.

Wtf??? The entire arc could have been resolved 5 chapters earlier if someone just said one s*upid sentence rather than being a self sacrificing drama queen or king and then get angry at everyone else for doing the same thing they were. Don't even get me started on how all his lies comes back to bite him in the bu*t once everyone finds out he's the demon price, and voila. More angst. Boatloads of angst. And melodrama. And not a single drop of goddamned foresight or critical thinking to be seen.

If he had just stopped to think or stopped going brain dead every time a problem cropped up, this novel would've ended in half the chapters needed. <<less

The author got lost in the sauce halfway through and salvaged it decently in the end, but inevitably lots of stuff slipped through the fingers even with 20-odd chapters of epilogue. It was a good read, kept me clicking for the next chapter. The biggest flaw ultimately is the mood of the story stayed monotonously depressing for the last 300 chapters—even though it was a striking mood-shift in the beginning, eventually you just get sick of it. He just laid the sob-spread on thick and it was just too much.... more>> People get bored of the same thing, there's no variety on this toast anymore! We need some jam and sprinkles too!
