Cute MC and devoted ML. Their master-pet relationship is so adorable. And their feeling for each other are developed really well. However when it comes to politic intrigue, this novel sort of failed to present complicated and intense battle for the throne. The story also drags after they got married. There are some parts I think is a bit weird.

I found myself laughing when MC, as a fish, could help ML's to repel his enemies. Which is weird since MC is definitely an ordinary fish. Not to mention when the Emperor got convinced by ML that MC could give birth with weird and sloppy excuses??

This is really good! I couldn't stop binge reading! I really like the interaction between the MC and Ml, I can't wait for more!!!

Tbh, I thought I wouldn't like this based on the summary but I ended up loving this!! It's become something that I really look forward to reading after work everyday if there are updates, really love this. Of course, this not perfect but this is just so good in its own special way!!!

Very very cute and sweet novel about a mute prince and his pet fish. Their first encounter is pretty funny and the process of MC attempting to communicate with ML through their barriers was really interesting.

It must've taken ML all the self-restraint in the world not to kill and eat MC in the beginning. Seriously.

There is a lot of action, but there's not really much drama, since ML is a Gary Stu. What's more interesting is the development of MC and ML's relationship through mutual misunderstanding and language barriers. MC's personality was a little too naive, but it's somewhat understandable given that he was only an 18 year old modern teenager. As for ML, everyone thinks that he's a cold tyrant, but he's actually a darling. It's only because he literally cannot talk, so he is unable to defend himself from the rumors.

Their kids were adorable, although the middle two kids didn't get much screen time. Classic middle child syndrome.

I really appreciate the fact that there were feminist elements in this novel. Thanks for making your dynasty better, MC. <<less

I loved this novel! It was so cute and funny🤣 If you’re in the mood for a kind, silly and a lil dumb (lovingly) MC with a doting ML n plenty of dog food then this is it. It’s refreshing to read something like this once in a while. N the babies are super cute!! I think a lot of people got frustrated by MC a couple of times but the way the author wrote the character was very telling of his personality from the start? So it wasn’t anything... more>> unexpected.

You need to be in the right mood for every genre n people should steer clear of things they don’t like. This is not for people who want a crafty and immediately-knows-how-to-go-about-things kinda MC. It’s mostly just a sweet n fluffy story. <<less

I think that if I had to describe this novel it'd be like a sweet cookie. You eat a cookie just to have a good time, you don't expect a high nutritious value or a life changing revelation. It was like this, sweet, fun and fulfilling the need for a couple super in love with each other.

Toward the second half of the story the couple is already established, so it focuses more on face slapping the villain, the MC and ML forming a family and their kids. I usually don't like much when children come along because the romance or the kids get neglected. This wasn't the case, I adored the four Baos, especially Bao1! They're not annoying and the dads are still crazy over each other

On the downside, you'll have to turn off your brain many times because there are many plot holes and lack of consistency.

Toward the middle of the novel, before he accepts the ML confession and a gets used to his new life, that the MC is mad annoying, his braincells weren't connecting even though the story explicitly said he was smart he really wasn't. He gets less annoying later though.

In conclusion, it a sweet and cute story with enough palace drama to keep it mysterious and interesting, though you won't find anything mind-blowing, it definitely has one of the best and conclusive ending, it's fulfilling.

If you're here more for the romance and love story, cute family dynamics and fish antics, this is for you!. If your want complex political schemes of power struggles and the difficulties of ruling a kingdom with drama and angst, you aren't in the right place. It all comes down to what you're looking for! I mostly got what I came for! (Though I rolled my eyes at the MC more often than I would have liked). <<less

I would give this a million stars if I could. Great story and great translation, it gave me ALL the feels! Normally I avoid novels with m-preg like a plague, but this novel did it super well actually and it added a lot of love to the story, omg the bao’s 😍😭

Probably more like 3.5-3.8, but it's one of the better novels I've read as of late, so I rounded up. I held off reading this novel, I'm not usually into mpreg, authors usually never give an explanation as to how they could get preggers. This one kind of does at least for the 4 sons, not sure how birth worked for the daughter.

MC is only 18 to start with and kind of an airhead. I really liked him to begin with, but I felt about half way through the story... more>> the author started to make his intelligence regress, seriously don't know how he didn't figure out the truth to the ML's secret for so long. Also hated that he kept wasting a reward to watch the same secret, maybe 1 of the other secrets could give more info.... Towards the end of the novel I was found him kind of boring. I did love how proactive he was about smexy time and how accepting he was about mpreg.

ML is somewhere in his 20's and is the silent cold type, but has a reason. Though the ML wasn't anything profound or new, I actually really liked him. He loves his kids and may get slightly jelous of their time with MC, he is different than most danmei ML's who have kids.

The romance is cute, mostly ML just pampering fish. I almost dropped it around chapter 55 ish, the MC was melodramatic and s*upid, but thankfully he quickly notices he is being a blockhead.

Things I didn't like or found confusing:

The story went on too long in places. After ML figured out MC was fish, it took long for the secret to come out, I was starting to get really bored. Then they got together and the story was progressing fine, some parts of the western frontier and the palace drama went on a bit too long, seriously the big baddie was just a yawn by the time we finally got to them. There were a few chapters that were just superfluous. This novel could have easily been 100 chapters and would have been great.

The kids development was weird, rambling RANT ahead: I get they basically lived 10-12 months as fish so they were developmentally ahead of normal newborns, but then the author would dumb them down randomly. Then the next chapter they would be writing words (let's just ignore the fact a 6 month old regardless of how smart wouldn't have physical ability to write especially since they were fish before). They arrive in front of the emporer at 10 months old but couldn't talk? They were supposed to be very advanced and could talk in their fish form, but couldn't say Yeye correctly? My nephew started talking at 9 months and he wasn't a fish before. Then not long after they are going to school and having complex thoughts and know schemes... seriously, I gave up on trying to figure the kids out.

I also very much disliked how the author kept making bao 4, the one that looked like MC, the dumb and slow one, and basically overlooked bao 2 and 3, more so 3. At least 2 got a little more attention. Also why is bao 1 the automatic smart one and the heir, what if when they are older he isn't the best one for the job or wants to go into art? Why not raise all 4 to be smart and helpful? MC is from modern times so why is he okay with dumping everything on bao 1, he is only older by like a minute. I hated the partially just because he might be the oldest.

Lastly the whole being mute thing. So weird that MC didn't question the ML's mutism. They kept saying it was hereditary which I could see the ancient people believing, but why didn't modern MC question it? Mutism is usually from an illness, injury, or is psychological, it's not something that gets passed on. I don't think the author researched mutism much.

I did like the women's rights bit even though it felt like the author was just pushing the word count at that point. The modern part was cute, but then I felt the end was a bit rushed, left some unanswered questions and no extras.

The translator is one of the best. I am very thankful for how they named the princes, a lot of these types of stories I get the princes confused because their names are too much alike. The pictures they added links to was very much appreciated and the in text notes where helpful. <<less

I was surprised by how highly rated this story is. Ultimately I started reading it because everyone else seemed to love it. Surely, I thought I would love it too, right?

This a sweet, fluffy story that is inoffensive; there is no real reason for anyone to hate it. However, that's partly the reason why I found it boring. I didn't find it particularly exciting, or funny, or shocking, or poignant. It failed to make a lasting impression on me in any way. And that's why I'm giving it a 3.... more>> Painfully average.

I've only read up to Chapter 69 so far, but I do not compelled to read further. The story's pacing felt friggin' slow. Not much happened within these 69 chapters.

Also, I must admit that I had great trouble visualizing a lot of the scenes in this story. The MC is a fish, yet he is easily able to move around. The ML places "teacups" around the room, enabling the MC to jump from his fish tank and hop from one cup to another cup? Later on in the story, MC's size is not small. How big are these teacups exactly? Because chinese teacups are small, and the MC's fish form is bigger than the size of two fists. And he's just hopping from one cup bowl to another. Somehow even managed to leave his fish tank and hop over to ML's bed to kiss ML on the lips as he slept... like bruh, he's a f*cking fish. <<less

It's a sweet novel full of sugar. I really enjoyed reading it. MC is lovely ML is caring. I especially like the ending. It doesn't really have angst. It just have a lovely fish family ✨

This is so cute especially the kids, I bet even after they got wrinkled all over they'll never stop flirting, aishhh this couple really make me jealous

The face slapping is satisfying really but I felt a little bit pity towards the original bottom but he deserved it

Overall, this is good for who's looking for fluffy read

I've seen this novel in numerous recommendation lists before and finally got intrigued enough to read this. I would say that this is entertaining and very cute. It's a palace drama of some sort. There were lots of face slapping (literally and figuratively) but not much of angst. I think that it ended pretty well since the main characters achieved what they desired and the conclusion was very fitting. I also want to commend the translator (s) as they made reading very easy and enjoyable.

loves ML to the bones, slightly freaks out about, but later loves and pampers his babies, and even insists on giving birth for the second time because he wants a daughter very much. Mpreg stories usually only have sons, plus it's my first time seeing MC with the attitude of "hubby, let's put your hips to work, cause I want a soft baby bun" and I really appreciate it. A mpreg MC who wants to have a child so much, that he is OK with being pregnant and giving birth & BL novels where main characters have daughters are things I want to see more of in the future.

It seems like a simple thing, but in fact at least 80% of romance novel authors can only write falling in love, courtship and conflicts, but when it comes to being in a stable relationship... it becomes quite subpar. The entire story is pretty well explained, and the ML is honestly the best. I love the communication between the couple, and though there weren't many actual obstacles standing in the main characters' way, it was overall an enjoyable read. Many thanks to the translator for providing such an excellent translation.

I also have a love hate relationship with this novel... I can't say much, I guess I did enjoy it from the start until near the end. But I couldn't finish it until the last chapter because... I was annoyed because the plot was dragging on!! I couldn't handle it anymore and just stopped reading and went straight to my next to-read-book... Borrowing a review from other reader: "The author had a good balance to swing between annoying the crap out of me than swoon me again with the fluff.... more>> Hence, I'm torn. -@Drenlith"

The MC... I have issuesss, but still, he's quite cute, and ML, really I don't know what to say..

Anyways, you might be wondering, "why the five stars tho?" well, like I said, I'm torn between love and hate but still, I did enjoy the long read and I did technically finish reading it, so yeah, five stars. And oh, for the translator/s too.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The babies are so cute and awesome 😍😍😍, you just have to love the MC's hardworking attitude in doing his task and responsibilities as a wife. The ML is very caring and he really pampered his fish wife, their family is wholesome.

Everythingabout this story is worth reading.
