The Earth is Online

Six months ago, tens of thousands of black phantom towers appeared all over the world, floating above the cities. Chemists, physicists, religious people… all of them could do nothing.

Six months later, people became used to the towers and no longer paid them attention.

One day, Tang Mo saw a flying insect crash into it instead of going through it. The next day, a sharp and clear child-like voice issued an announcement to all humans.

“Ding dong! November 15th, 2017. The earth is online.”

The black tower’s three iron-clad rules:

1. Everything is explained by the black tower.

2. 6 o’clock to 18 o’clock is the game time.

3. All players, please strive to attack the tower.

Best story I have read so far. Instead of most Bl stories this story gives you a sense of thrill. The action the story has is amazing

Especially the black tower bosses. They are funny and really makes you change your perspective on fairy tale characters.

The one part that makes me sad is how smart all the characters are. But it is agreeable cause they wouldn't be able to survive without their intelligence.

I came for no I stayed for the action

Very nice, this is a cool story. The world is crazy, the abilities are crazy and the mini-games are crazy. I really like it, it is very innovative and funny, but also cruel and terrifying. One last thought: The whole BL thing is unnecessary for the story, but it is tame, so its safe to read.

I just want to remind to strengthen your cognitive functions to get along the pace of black tower's logic games, and conversations between brilliant characters or you will be dumbstruck by any plot turns.

Plots are not like frustrating random twists as all details are mentioned beforehand. Just stay eye-sharped and don't miss out any information the author described, also run your brain like mad to imagine all possible scenarios at the meantime.

Romance is realistic enough for me but sometimes their tacit understanding makes your heart cry in silence lol

A fore-prepare... more>> a pen and paper to scribble on in case you can play along when it comes to detailed grid games. The whole plot seems well-fabricated (I haven't finished it whole) but I can tell the author can handle it.

It even inspired me to learn more about logical reasoning. It's also freaking addict-able and stimulating that I even craved it for three days and one full night.

To conclude is that this is not average type of novel that you go flow with it.

good luck with your own read and enjoy the adrenaline rush, ah! <<less

There's a sudden twist.... It had me going (0O0)

Over all it's an excellent novel. All the characters are dimensional. They're all realistic, with motivation and drives.

The MC and ML are not extremely OP characters here. Neither are they, the smartest.... Whatever they can think of, likewise for the others.

The MC is NOT weak always acting like a damsel in distress waiting for the ML. Neither is is prone to act silly, like many uke as we called them do. He's very mature, calm, realistic... With a little of a... more>> violent temper.

Likewise the ML is wise, open minded, calm and stoic.

Both of them are manipulative

The side characters are great...

And the game NPCs are funny... Scary and funny.

This is not a brainless novel, but a very mature with intriguing plots and literary devise.

You may not like it, but you'll still admit the fact that, it's a great novel.

Some recommendation of stunning novels

Reborn as My Love Rival’s Wife (Slice of life, and extremely funny, will have you cracking up until ur in tears, and the good moments will move you to tears)
Thrive in Catastrophe (Apocalypse, but not rebirth.... One of the best BL novel, the MC of this novel is similar to Tang Mo)
Heroic death system (System novel... Will have you in tears 99% of the time, please don't worry it's a happy ending... Well you may have to MTL to find out the truth)
I'm not shouldering this blame (Transmigration novel, what would happen if transmigrator coming to your world, telling you, you're world is a book, and you're the villain?)
Qizi (a bit like ABO novel, without the beta. hmmm with Alpha of being winner and Omega, not birthing matching but losers. Most Omega rather death over being one. and Alpha and Omega are decided though more or less a death match. If the omega survive, they'll have to listen to the Alpha for the rest of their life... It's not really that depressing, sighh I can't write a good summery..)
Number one zombie wife (Rebirth novel.... Not a revenge one, or one where the MC's trying to 'hug the ML tight'... the MC was resolute... Lol. He tried to kill the ML, instead it back fired.... He accidentally swallow the ML bead... which got him pregnant (He didn't have interc**rse with the ML his pregnancy was cause due the bead) The all time the poor MC believe that his stomach got big tru gas... Poor ML he denied it till the end)
Banish to another world. (system novel... although gore and brainless at the beginning... The MC is an evil doctor sent to another world for penitence. The poor evil evil MC is being force to save lives.... And the poor MC is trying to find loophole where he doesn't have to act like a saint all the damn time.)

ahhhh my fingers hurt from typing... <<less

This is just peak. I love the relationship between the MC and the ML, and the plot is just GOOD. I mainly read stories for their relationships (platonic and romantic), but I found myself really enjoying the story and how everything ties in together. The ending was also super satisfying to me. If you like an interesting world and are here for the story rather than romance, then THIS is your read!

This novel is, in it's concept, really interesting.

The thing worth noting is that it's utterly plot-focused. If you're looking for a story with any semblance of character growth, you won't find it here.

The MC's most prominent characteristic is his intellect; his only one, in fact. The novel has a simple structure; MC enters an instance an instace, solves it in the most baffling ways possible (usually by relying on clues not given to the reader prior), and goes back to roaming around.

I do have to admit that I found myself... more>> charmed by the almost detective novel-like structure of the games. No matter how bland the MC is, all instances are well-thought out (maybe except for the very last game...) and engaging to read about.

The ML is boring—in the end, I grew to like the side characters more than the main couple.

The excessive nationalism, lackcluster ending and blandness of the relationship between MC and ML are all points that have been brought up by countless reviews before mine, so I won't be dwelling on them.

If you like the unlimited flow genre almost solely focused on the game aspect involving little to none character development and a overpowered MC, you most certainly are going to enjoy this novel. In general, it's mediocre at best—not a complete waste of time, but nothing revolutionary. <<less

Ugh, I'm sorry, I will come back later when I have a motivation or not at all. Let's go into the positive points I have after reading 25 chapters. I know it's still very early to drop it but I can't push myself to read further.

  1. The ML. He only appeared once in a while, but every time he showed up, my interest was also raised.
  2. The MC is a smart man.
Aight, let's move into the critical points I've found so far:

Spoiler
  1. Some inconsistencies: Idk whether this one is from the translation site or that the author really forgot the details. For example, in the 3rd game, it was firstly said there were 8 people. But then the people who came out were just 7. So which one is the right number? Also, some little information like someone stood 2 metres away but in the next passage it was written 3 metres. Since when did they move?
  2. Although the games were ended with plot twist, in my honest opinion, the plot twists used in this story are the kind of plot twists that have been used many times in other novels or animes or dramas, making it not quite a surprise anymore. Like when the end of the game was revealed, I was just like, "Oh, so this is how it works." with a deadpanned facial expression.
  3. Maybe, this one is just from my point of view, but the explanation in each game is too much that it makes me lazy to read it through, and just jump up to the actions. The worse thing is, the explanations were mentioned over and over again in the following chapter, as if the author was afraid the readers would forget the build up of the story, but it makes the story kinda boring in turn.
    [collapse]
Nevertheless, this is just based on my opinion. Everyone has different tastes. Those who like this novel will enjoy it, while those who thinks this story just isn't their cup of tea will drop it. Please don't come at me and decide to chop me off when you really like this novel but happen to read my review. Send peace~ <<less

This was such a unique story, with interesting characters. The games were very good, like I needed a minute to figure something out of those rules. I liked this story very much, Tang Mo is a special MC. His path through the whole novel is incredible. But Bai Ruoyao stole my heart, crazy man, his interactions with others so funny😆💜

I will definitely miss to be in this world for a long time. The only thing that bothers me is that the ending was somehow rushed, and I wanted to see... more>> more of Tang Mo & Fu Wenduo's relationship. Overall, it's an amazing novel🤯👏 <<less

I fully enjoyed reading this novel.

There was almost no romance, except for the extras, but this was great without it.

This novel makes you think. You have to use your brains. If you don't grasp the concept in the previous paragraph, you'll probably not understand what's happening for a while. So, you have to pay attention to the storyline to figure it out, and doing so keeps you engaged in the novel. The author did a great job with the writing. The main characters and the side characters were... more>> wonderful. They complemented the story really well. <<less

Rainbow's choices and translations are always top notch. You should definitely try at least the starting chapters of their novel. It never disappoints me.

This story is amazing. If you like thriller, romance, sci fi then definitely give it a try. I Already read it twice. I dont know why but I especially love the mario arc.

This is a Sci-fi, Action apocalyptic novel. The romance (BL) is minor and not too significant to the plot, as most Action novels should be. The plot utilize strategy and mind games with some mystery. Because this is a Web Novel it will have the downsides of having very interesting moments and other times being boring. Converting* it to Light Novel should improve it to 5 stars. *If that ever happen.

PD: - if you are looking for Boy Love (BL) gay content as main focus then this is not it.

★★★★★ if I could I would give endless stars to this novel. It's absolutely a must read for those who enjoy mind games, action and mystery. I lost count of how many times i've re-read it. I personally love the 2 main characters -the MC and ML are just made for each other and even if it's not very romance focused, the novel still has many beautiful moments between them, which I still vividly remember. The setting of the story, the characters, the games all are brilliant making me ponder... more>> how could the writer even come across such genius ideas. <<less

Some of the best games I have read in an unlimited flow novel. Some of them felt a bit too "Kingdom Hearts;" however, they were at least all interesting. The best games occurred in the second half of the novel. I would highly recommend at least reading 1/3 before deciding to drop the book. The games allowed the ML and MC to show off their power couple status. I only wish we got more cute moments between them. The romance was SLOW BURN and we didn't get much insight on... more>> Tang Mo's feelings throughout the first half of the novel. Overall, a pretty solid book with interesting characters, main and side. I loved the addition of the "What if" side chapters. <<less

I know that it wasn't romance-focused and I still kept looking for it. The author only sprinkled bits and pieces of romance (it wasn't enough for me!!!) but the story is of course more on the infinite flow genre.

Spoiler

The game instances were unique and were based on fairytale characters but with a twisted personality and had dangerous consequences.

Tang Mo and Fu Wenduo were both smart and mature. What I like about Tang Mo was his intelligence, independence and his OPness. Same goes with Fu Wenduo. He knows what he wants and had defined his feelings for Tang Mo early on. During dangerous times, we can see him protect Tang Mo and their cooperation was done so fluidly it seemed that they can read each other's minds. But it actually boils down to the deep understanding they had of each other.

The extra chapters provided us with a glimpse of an AU where the Black Tower never existed. We see the characters live their lives and the main leads finally meet each other in person. For me it was like instant love (but of course they've known each other for years online) which I didn't mind. Like minded people probably get together with just a look, a gesture and the feeling that they have for the other. I specially liked the scene the morning after when they were both in Tang Mo's apartment in Suzhou... it was just very domestic and sweet that we didn't see in the main story.

A couple of chapters were also dedicated for an epilogue in the original timeline. The leads went to Suzhou and Fu Wenduo helped Tang Mo clean his apartment. Mr. Fu proposed on living in Suzhou instead of Beijing. This shows that they were ready to live together, facing the new future of the world.

Absolutely loved it

This is the third time I read the entire novel, I discover more each time I read it. It’s easy to read despite the complicated topics and well paced. The ending was neither abrupt or dragged out so also 10/10

The relationship isn’t as lovey-dovey as most BL’s (which is logical as the novel is quite literally almost the end of the world) and focusing mostly on how the MC and ML understand each other so well.

In the extras we get a look into their lives (including the important... more>> side characters) if the black tower didn’t exist which I really really liked!

If I can’t find anything to read in a while I’ll probably re-read this again :)) <<less

Finally finished this and I loved it. It's very light on romance (reads more like shounen-ai than yaoi) that it sometimes feels like an afterthought, but the story is incredible. So many interesting characters, whether human, monster or an underground person, they all had multi-faceted and very impactful personalities.
Spoiler

The way the characters are written is so good, that I was heartbroken and cried when a Psychopath I "abhorred" died so suddenly

[collapse]

This novel is a huge brain teaser, I mostly had to turn off my brain and stopped trying to solve the puzzles along with the characters and simply go with the flow. The author is truly very intelligent and there was hardly any loose ends or plotholes, despite how long it was. Though there's a lot of deaths, there's also a lot of hope.
Spoiler

I particularly love the ending, a part of me was hoping for a fairytale ending where all the dead would be resurrected, but there's something about rising up from the ashes that's so thrilling

[collapse]

A wonderful novel all in all.

I have no words.

This has to be in my top 3 novels

This novel also made me realize that I sadly can't hope for every single one of the likeable characters to survive especially in this type of novel.

One thing that really made an impression was how the things you would normally think are not a big deal end up playing a huge role.

One last thing would you really say TM luck was bad or not

The first novel that got me into reading novels! It’s been 3 or so years so my memory is blurry and I plan on rereading it but, the start was a bit slow, once you get into it though it’s extremely interesting and each “level” is unique. Unlike most novels of the infinite flow genre the story doesnt feel dragged out or that each level is just constantly the same and repeating itself. The ideas are good and there is actually an end in sight for the novel. The reason... more>> I think back to it so fondly is because I’ve read so many in the infinite flow genre and most stories tend to slowly derail, or its clear the author has no idea where to take the story/how to end on a satisfying note. I can say that I enjoyed the ending and if you liked ORV, it’s definitely a novel you should try read (do remember TEIO was created before ORV!). <<less

One of my very first novels, TRUST it's soooo good.

The plot, the characters, just everything.

I do recommend if you fw unlimited-flow novels, it's not heavily revolved around their relationship, yet it's so sweet at the same time.

The Extra section makes me feel 'Full'!

This is a novel that I labeled as 'heavy' for light story lovers like me...

But it's worth it. For the time I spent finishing this story... One of the novels where I spent a long time...

... more>> No romance at all! Really 😂😂 but somehow it only took 2/3 chapters to make me feel happy for Tang Mo and Mr. Fu 🥹🥹

Very unique story building! All the characters are very strong! Deep storyline. One of the masterpieces that everyone should read...

It's just not a story for romance lovers... <<less
