Seo Esther

the token one-sided crush towards MC. The story becomes unbearable whenever she appears. I do hope there will be no romance because MC can barely feel anything even until now so please save us from bullsh*t love cliche.

Anyways, regardless of my negative feelings towards

Seo Esther,

it's fun to watch MC trying to navigate Dungeon Theme world as a genius in a weak F-rank body. He is creative with the way he utilize what he have.

Comedy-wise, it can quite funny so if you enjoy misundertandings of people thinking MC is not F-class then go ahead give it a read. I would give this a higher rating if not for

I generally like to read the misunderstanding troupe where they believe the MC is super strong when in reality the MC isn't so I thought I would like this novel too. But holy f*ck this one is actually a damn bore, it drags on so bad. The misunderstandings actually get so ridiculous in idiotic way that it isn't even funny, just fustrating and annoying as f*ck. Some parts I just ended up skimming through it cause of how boring it was like the long awaited backstory of the alien, I... more>> was curious about that part but then I just skipped through it because yeah they just dragged it on for so long that I was no longer curious.

Spoiler

It takes till literally ch 325 for the MC to finally get his og magic powers back and then that's when the story starts getting interesting cause all the readers been waiting for this f*cking moment but ofc the author wants to drag it on by having him limited to casting powerful spells whenever by making him have stage 5 chainsmoker lungs. Like cmon now... Didn't he replace and repair his lungs with the dragon lungs??? so why tf is he still struggling...

[collapse]

Initially, I liked the MC but overtime my opinon started changing to a negative view because he boast about he was a such a intelligent powerful alien but he will make some s*upid choices that don't reflect the super intelligent alien being he supposedly is.

The other characters are whatever, half of them are annoying (sooyeon, yooseung, kang changho) while the other half is whatever (Esther and Hasung).

Sooyeon is the typical civil servant that meddles with the MC cause she's just always suspicious of him.

A-rank yooseung is annoying cause he'll create mistunderstandings of his admiration towards the MC to the point where he spreads all this misinformation about the MC. Even when the MC tries to clarify it'll be like he talking to the wall instead of yooseung because yooseung will literally create another misassumption from his words, it ain't even funny and just makes yooseung look like an idiot instead.

Kang Changho was the most annoying one. Nobody likes him.

Spoiler

The MC basically has to pretend to grovel to him all the time because he's stuck in the F-rank body which is so fustrating cause he still gotta lower himself in front of changho even around ch200 cause the author is still dragging on making the MC so weak.

When he finally finds out the MC scams him with the contract, he kidnaps the MC and tortures him in a gate. Then in the gate, the MC breaks free and progresses through the gate where they have to make choices like click the same color to not get punished. At one point, changho gets binded from the gate and the MC has the option to choice to sacrifice himself or changho and he picks the option to sacrifice himself cause he thought it was going to be a trick question where the gate will do the opposite of the choice he picked which is so dumb cause the entire time they were progressing through the gate every option they chose before that did the exact punishment given so why'd he think they were going to do the opposite of that???

[collapse]

There's also the whole big korean nationalism in there like wow... The author basically made all foreigner characters unlikeable like making them all villians so that you will only like the korean characters. <<less

(By the way, I wrote this review as I read the novel, starting from when I felt this was 5 star material to the end, where it dropped to 1 star. I get more and more frustrated as the novel goes on, and was only reading after ch 220 because I want to see if he finally gets his true strength back or not.)

I'm enjoying this so far. Basically, it's the premise of an alien from another planet that is light years ahead of Earth in terms of... more>> mana usage reincarnates into a human because he wants to avoid work on his home planet.

Because he's an alien, he doesn't know as much about Earth or human customs as humans do, which is interesting to read. Although I do wish the story elaborated more on that, because sometimes it does feel like they could do more with this premise.

Also this is my favorite kind of misunderstanding story. Where they do misunderstand that he's more powerful than he really is (currently he's F rank), but he actually is pretty powerful (in different ways, like knowledge of mana techniques and things like that, and the fact that he was a powerful wizard in his home planet so he's just weak for now).

It's not that fast paced imo and it's pretty much the same misunderstanding for a while. And the plot's not complex, it's relatively simple. So a good read if you're just looking to get into an interesting story, but not one where you should delve extremely deeply like for some other stories.

Spoiler for Rakshasa temple:

Spoiler

Although I do wish that the Rakshasa Temple thing wasn't just tied to a politician who wanted to get reelected bruh. It just made the whole fanatic cult temple thing much less interesting. Dang.

[collapse]

And another pet peeve, but it's mostly personal preference:

Spoiler

I'm not that big of a fan of the writing style where they sometimes go into the villain's mind and basically tell us their master plan, motive, and backstory directly, especially before the plan actually happens. It sort of ruins the suspense for me, so there's no real tension in the story, because there's no wondering why something is happening or why someone who do something like this and that... because we already know.

[collapse]

And the MC is a little too frugal and "selfless" ngl. Especially

Spoiler

In chapter 81 when he "saved" Esther 5 billion won and she asked him if he wanted anything, he should've asked for the f*cking dragon lungs are you kidding me? Since it's 2.6 billion won. Instead, he asked for the pyromancer necklace which is 50 million won. Dude! Your magic problem could literally be solved, why the f*ck are you asking to buy the f*cking necklace? It's frustrating because now I know his magic problem won't get solved for basically the next 100 chapters because I know they're going to drag it out wtf.

EDIT; I wrote this back when I was around ch81... and guess what? I f*cking called it. Obviously they were going to drag this sh*t out

[collapse]

As for the dragon's lungs and whether he gets his abilities again,

Spoiler

In ch 137 there's a dungeon that is revealed which has a dragon in it, and all the korean comments were just yelling "lungs lungs!", which is the funniest thing ever. I guess they wanted Kiryeo to become strong already, and ngl, I was wholeheartedly yelling the same thing because I was getting a little tired of him having to pretend. I just wanted to see him stomp S classes or monsters already. Also he still doesn't get the lungs here because I f*cking knew they were gonna drag this out.

In ch 166 he gets one characteristic of an S class, which is the defense, but still hasn't got his dragon lungs or his magic back.

Ok, in chapter 201 he finally got his dragon lungs. And obviously, because the author wants to drag this out further, he can only do basic spells, because he needs a new body or some shit. Woo hoo, another 100 chapters to go until we get another basic powerup!

[collapse]

And for Kim Kiryeo's backstory (the previous owner of the body, not the current MC) :

Spoiler

Around chapter 148, the story goes into Kim Kiyreo's backstory, and let me tell you, his backstory is sad as f*ck. Especially how he was treated by his family. And it was so satisfying when the MC told Kiryeo's mom that Kim Kiryeo died, even though she was confused. I love it when novels actually acknowledge the previous owner of the body, because it makes me feel a little sad sometimes to think about how their body was being used by a reincarnator, except no one around that person realizes anything's up. Like you died and someone took over your body and no one knows about it. It's a little scary. So I'm glad they sort of acknowledged it here.

[collapse]

For Kang Changho,

Spoiler

I'm ngl, I can't stand him. I'm waiting for the day he dies. I don't care that he has helped the MC sometimes, because he didn't do that for some altruistic reason... just for a f*cking contract. He's such a little bit*h and I can't bring myself to like him no matter what.

[collapse]

I would have given this 4 stars if they didn't drag out his f*cking misunderstanding and lung sh*t for so long. It was actually so frustrating because the author would just dangle the lungs then just pull it away for like four times, and by that point I was actually just annoyed by the misunderstanding at that point. It's 200 chapters of the same f*cking sh*t over and over and he barely improves at all. I get it, he's an F class in every way, but can you not drag this sh*t out???

If it weren't for other aspects of the novel, like discovering the previous owner's backstory, then I would've dropped it way earlier.

So if you're into reading 200 chapters of the same bullsh*t over and over, like me, then this is perfect for you. He does actually start getting good at ch 200 but holy damn, getting past 200 chapters was tedious.

As for the US hunter and nationalism:

Spoiler

I'm actually so disappointed the author killed off Brooklyn, since I actually liked her. I'm going to be extremely upset if the author killed her off but keeps Kang Changho alive, because that motherf*cker needs to die. If the author keeps that dude alive I know for a fact this is some nationalistic shit, considering if Kang Changho was American in this novel he'd get f*cked instantly, but since he's Korean, the author will probably never kill him off to "show off" the 4 S-classes that Korea has. It's very easy for the author to kill off the top American hunter who's actually interesting and has a cool backstory but god forbid you kill off one of the scummiest f*ckers who happens to be Korean, who also is planning on killing MC and stealing his power.... have we forgotten that???

Also, I feel like sometimes this novel is too nationalistic, honestly, like a lot of Korean novels are. I guess Koreans get aroused at the thought of the US or China losing power, but it felt a little disappointing seeing the portrayal of foreign hunters in the novel compared to the Korean ones. By the way, it starts veering into nationalistic territory around ch 220s, so good luck.

I could go on and on about this but this is why I dropped my previous rating from 3 stars to 2 stars. This same bullsh*t again fron Korean novels is so f*cking annoying. I guess the only ok thing is that Japanese hunters are not as badly shown as in other novels.

And I also think the alien MC is too reluctant to leave Korea. Now, I understand why the author would want him to stay as a Korean, considering you need to be able to brag about him as Korea's S-class, but I was thinking halfway through, why the f*ck would the alien care if he was in Korea or the US or China or Russia? He really doesn't HAVE to stay as a Korean, especially since I thought he wanted to see the world or experience human culture lol

[collapse]

Ok I read on to 300 and the nationalism issue just gets worse. And unfortunately

Spoiler

Kang Changho hasn't died yet. I'm f*cking done with this sh*t of a novel. I had high hopes at first but then it just turned into a Korean nationalistic jerk off to other countries. It's f*cking pathetic, and I only ever enjoyed the parts of the novel where the settings stayed in Korea.

[collapse]

Whoever thought this novel was good has got to be joking, or perhaps turned their brain off entirely while reading this shit. The author drags everything on for so long, especially the misunderstanding, and the characters are basically sh*t besides the Koreans. It feels like the author just wanted to jerk off to Korean nationalism or some bullshit, and I've actually never hated a character more than Kang Changho, who the author seems to keep alive solely because he's a KOREAN S class (because let's be honest, if he was a foreigner in any way treating MC like that, the author would've killed him off by now, easily... but nooo, Koreans are precious and foreigners are expendable characters).

The setting and writing style is so f*cking bland, I don't even know what the environment or people look like half of the time. And half of a lot of chapters is just the other characters jerking off to the MC, which if you cut that out, doesn't even affect the story at all. I found myself skipping past those because I found it so unbelievably cringy it hurt to read, and I skipped past a lot of the interactions with other countries because they were so disgustingly portrayed. I had such high hopes in the beginning only for the author to be a complete f*cking pu*sy about the plot and the characters, especially the MC. And the characters, even the Koreans, are so unbelievably flat and one sided, whose sole purpose is to jerk off to a pu*sy MC or be an antagonist, no in between.

One of the worst things is this novel had so much f*cking potential, but the author squandered it all. The story barely ever goes back into his Alphauri life, and if it does, IT IS VAGUE. Where is the world building? What about his past disciples (mentioned like once) ? Tell me more about Alphauri, and how it compared to Earth besides "ohh Earth has so much culture *eating korean food only*" -alien. If I were the alien, there's zero chance I would not be constantly comparing things to the littlest detail, but even though the alien here does compare a lot, it's VERY VAGUE and offhandedly. If you're going to make it not that important and not give context, don't even mention it, jesus. And don't just give me some alien bullsh*t like "ooo Earth has pretty stuff", CAN YOU TELL ME WHY? How? In what way? I'm curious. And I'm not joking, that is a legitimate example from the story.

In fact, half of the sh*t he does in the story can be thrown out since it's irrelevant, like the Rakshasa temple shit. 300 chapters could've been condensed to ~200 and it'd be much better, actually give the characters some personality and free thought rather than just jerking it to the MC all the f*cking time, give the foreign hunters some good traits instead of f*cking killing off the cool hunters who are "enemies" (who I like far better than the npc Korean side characters, especially Brooklyn), world build Alphauri and give us some more cultural/magic context or alien backstory, and have the MC grow some backbone and kill off Kang Changho instead of being a doormat. The MC is legitimately so pathetic since he barely does sh*t to regain his powers and later on is suddenly surprised when he gets f*cked up because he's WEAK and did nothing at all. What the f*ck did you expect??? And I remember Kang Changho attacking the MC once around ch 180s and the MC being surprised, and I legitimately face palmed because jesus christ, did you think he was a GOOD person??? Even after he tried to kill Jung Ha-seong in the first EX dungeon they went to??? Does everyone forget he's a shithole of a person or what?

It blows my mind this novel is rated 4.1 but a lot of decent stories on this site is 3.8. This story should at most be a 3, and I'm being generous. <<less

Really good start honestly and I hope it continues.

MC is not human, he purposely reincarnated himself into another world which happened to be earth and inhabited a random body with F-Rank stats and a badly damaged lung thanks to the og body's lifestyle (noice). MC doesn't have all the information and he's pretty clueless on human society and their laws (which leads to funny situations) and he inadvertently increases the misunderstandings due to his more extensive knowledge on certain things.

This doesn't mean he's an idiot though, quite the opposite and... more>> he's such a nice person too. He's not ruthless or cold, he just looks like it cuz he doesn't know how to move his facial muscles, causing more misunderstandings 😭 He is very much a normal person that acts atypical because he doesn't know the laws and general knowledge of earth.

Anyways, I hope more people are willing to read this so it gets translated more fingers crossed 🤞

Spoiler

MC taking ice cream from a child is both hilarious and pitiful, but a done deal since he agreed to kill the bird for it lol. I also like how he gets sent to the police station and just accepts it and is happy to be freed and scared of being pulled into the police station again when he finds out he may have done something illegal 😭😂

This is funny to me.

So, a great archimage around 60000 y.o. (Iirc), the little green one in the cover (fyi, the author said it's when he's 30 days old), was so tired with his planet system and his superiors that he made a soul transmigration magic and ended up in the body of an F-class hunter.

The people around him mistook him as an S-class hunter, and he himself mistook that his magic had failed and the body he took as nothing special.

As I read, all of my speculations were proven... more>> wrong. I'm still reading as this is still ongoing, so I don't have final words for now. <<less

Honestly, I was quite worried about having a romantic partner in this novel. But fortunately, looking at the tags, there's no Romance and romantic partner/harem. I just hope the author doesn't hit me unexpectedly (especially if he tries to pair up with Esther or policewoman B-class; both of whom I didn't like very much).

But I've enjoyed the novel so far. That's why I recommend it!

Really good read. The misunderstandings are funny and the alien is so cute. He’s such an appealing character and it’s funny how unreliable his point of view is from us Earthlings because he’s an alien.

It’s especially funny when one of the misunderstandings finally explode near the end of part 1 too. Definitely recommend~~

Ok, so this is a funny.

So the MC is a cute little alien, who was basically working at a black company. But he couldn't leave because he was shacked physically, so he decided to free his soul. So now MC id in a chain smokers body. Which messes up his power input. So now he tryna survive basically. But every one thinks hes some powerfull ahjussi. Which he is just not at the moment temporally (so the MC says lol). And now hes stuck with his act till he gets his body together. I Love It. Its a nice chain of pace.

I love this webnovel a lot. I know some people might be frustrated with how weak the MC is, but don't drop it yet - I promise it's worth it. There were quite a few points where I was worried about the development and thought about dropping, but the author did not disappoint and everything was resolved well.

Misunderstandings aren't really my thing, but as you can tell, I liked it here. The MC is weak, but he's smart and has a lot of knowledge. He's naive and ignorant about earth,... more>> but he's not dumb and doesn't blindly believe in what others tell him. Some of the misunderstandings are ridiculous, but most of them, especially the ones later on, are somewhat reasonable and also funny if you think about it.

The story is quite easy to follow, but there are still various mysteries that are resolved over time, and it's done fantastically. You'll probably be surprised too. The thing I'm most curious about right now is actually Kang Changho's identity. There were theories about him going around since earlier chapters, but I didn't really believe them until reading the recent chapters.

The characters, including our alien main character, are very charming. There are times when they are annoying, I would say, but I gradually came to love them too, and in hindsight, their behaviour helped contribute to greater misunderstandings in the future. Anyway, trust the process.

Personally, I think the possibility of romance happening in here between the main character and anyone else is close to 0. I can't see it happening with his personality. It's not completely impossible, yes, but very very unlikely. I wouldn't worry about it. <<less

I just read it cuz I saw fanart from twitter. Didnt expect to like it at first but now I truly enjoy it. The MC sure is unique maybe cuz he is a alien and his inner dialog and his action sure are funny😂. I hope to know how his relationship develop further with other characters (I saw in fanart) in the future and when he can be able to smile. Thank you for the translation

It's alright. Strong premise, but quickly lost potential by dragging out the protagonist's powerup for far too long.

An absolutely powerful "Great Magician" from a highly advanced magical society shouldn't take such an excruciatingly long period of time to regain even some of his powers. The longer the author drags it out with contrived reasons, the more and more the premise loses its appeal. I personally lost most of my remaining interest when his ideal "solution" was presented to him on a silver platter in ch. 81, but he threw it... more>> away with more far-fetched explanation from the author.

I can understand making mistakes here and there due to cultural unfamiliarity, but this was too much for my benefit of the doubt after considering everything else.

My personal thoughts when it comes to misunderstanding novels is that you can make up elaborate situations for the sake of comedy, but your characters should absolutely remain consistent in their characterisation.

This 60000-year old genius magician failed his spell and became a waste. His peak is enough to dominate the Earth like a dictator, but he's currently stuck at the bottom of the totem pole. He sees a strong possible clear path out of his conundrum. And you're telling me he doesn't rush to get there as soon as possible while his life is at risk? Even ignoring obvious and mostly risk-free ways to do so? Even not taking it when it was practically free to grab? It's not a lack of confidence that he can dig himself out of the situation once he gets "the solution" too, from his plans. It's just a plot hole from the author.

This is even more nonsensical when you consider that his goal is retirement. What kind of retirement is living your life every day worried if you can survive?

Ethical considerations should be minimised too, because from his point of view, humans aren't his kin.

Overall, the other aspects of the novel are fine, but the compromised premise really harmed my overall enjoyment. If only this flaw was fixed one way or another, I think this novel would be a pretty fun read. <<less

Utterly amazing. Sometime it can be a bit frustating when everything is just misunderstanding, but if you need low stake but entertaining read this is for you. The characters are deep (well but not too deep), enough that they feel alive in the story with their own personalities.

MC is a curious alien, he isn't cruel but instead love upright people. His monologue make him sound like a kid but honestly who wouldn't when they get teleported to a foreign world.

Sometime the sentence turn into horror novel when author goed 'He... more>> moved the corpse's mouth and said...' to remind you he is essentially wearing a dead person skin. Too bad the author didn't choose to stick to that, it makes it more interesting. <<less

He is really weak (because of a mishap in choosing a body) and everything is just a misunderstanding piling up. I'm at ch 53, he is still weak but slowly doing things to get his magic prowess back. And he is pretty adamant at not accepting high offers/rewards because of a) his trauma of working nonstop and b) some misunderstanding again which is now honestly becoming exhausting. I just wish he beats monsters or people using his power instead of just bluffing.

The premise is interesting.

Reading though is very, very annoying since due to the required for the trope "misunderstanding" the author clearly overuses his IQ suppression field and the characters act and think really, really ret*rded way too often.

Yeah this is a pretty big no from me, drags on a whole lot, alot of arcs that just repeat the same beats over and over again. Along with that there's definitely some Korean nationalism flavour going on here, and it's extremely awkward not just because obviously, but because it's the only actual element of geopolitics mentioned consistently that it feels jarring in particular. No commentary about the rest of the world and how its changed other than Korean is number 1 and stop asking questions.

Honestly most of these reviews... more>> are from when the novel was only translated about 50 chapters and then dropped and picked up again consistently, the translator right now lacks line breaks which results in words being constantly split in half and a terrible reading expirience. To put it in perspective this shitty review your reading right now has line breaks.

TLDR: Repeating arcs, obvious nationalist undertones, current translator reading sucks. <<less

Interesting premise, funny execution, great cast of characters. Kim Kiryeo is an interesting main character and trying his best to adapt to the Earth culture.

Spoiler

He adapted to it very quick but still left some funny alien antics

[collapse]

Even thought the novel is slow, but thanks to the characters being extremely interesting, I give it a 3.

And a bit of warning to a certain character...

Spoiler

Kang Changho is somehow the second worst man to get introduced to this novel, yet he was the sole reason I kept on reading in the past. The majority might find him annoying to outright want him dead, but without him the story would be very bland lol.

[collapse]

Another criticism is... The lack of action. Fight scenes get cut short or imply briefly in the early chapters threw me off a bit. Thankfully author improved a lot!

Overall, a worthy instant noodle (counting 100-200 chapters) and a must read (starting from 300 and recent) for webnovel readers! <<less

This is a concept I don't find too appealing. Consistent nonstop misinterpretations. Miraculously so, timely, and we only see thoughts that explain them.

Its not bad, its just not really something I find funny enough to rate 5 stars. Its cute, its comedic... it doesn't thread the needle.

The rest of the concept works fairly well, but is generally just well done. Not really outstanding.

Has a unique twist but it is very casual and basic writing. The author never takes time with writing details, emotions, hidden plots, et cetera so the story writing it a bit dull in a sense. The MC being an alien who possessed a human body isn't enough for me to keep reading
