The Husky and His White Cat Shizun

Description

Mo Ran thought becoming Chu Wanning’s disciple was a mistake.

His shizun was really too much like a cat while he himself was a dumb pup who’d only slobber and wag his tail.

Dogs and cats were different by nature; originally, the dumb pup didn’t want to reach his furry paws out to that cat.

At first he thought, dogs should be with dogs, like his shixiong, beautiful and tame like a cute Japanese Spitz, and the two of them together would surely be a match made in heaven.

Yet, after having died and reborn, after having lived two lives, the one he hauled back each time to his den in the end was always the one he couldn’t stand at first: that snow-white kitty shizun.

I just finished reading this novel, and I absolutely love it. The characters are so lovable and their character development is so wonderfully written. As you read, you can easily go from hating a character to loving them whole heartedly.

This story at first just seems like another typical rebirth and "having a second chance to make things right" story, but it have a lot of hidden knives that are ready to attack. As many may know, this story is quite well known for their angst, and one of the thing... more>> I appreciate most from meatbun is that she don't throw in sad scenes just for the sake of adding angst, but the angst that are in the story actually plays a role to the plot. I also very much enjoy the philosophy that this series have; for example, what is right and what is wrong, or is there really a such thing as black and white.

There are many more things I want to praise about this series, but I don't really want to go into spoilers territory, and I honestly can't form proper sentences on how to give this series the praise it deserves. All I can say is, if you haven't read 2HA yet, please go read it. <<less

the description is so cutecy, and the reviews so glowing that I just want to say that the relationship depicted is abusive in both lifetimes (in different ways)

i like the novel and I am enjoying it immensely, but please mind the tags and practice self care

the translator is warning for everything within the chapters though, so with preparation most people will be okay

I just can't wait to finish the novel. I've fallen so in love with the twists and the feelings of the characters! Especially during the part when Mo Ran woke up and found out about Chu Wanning, oh my heart cried. My tears can't stop falling. I'm so excited for the next chapters. ❤

I've never seen such a selfish and self righteous MC like him before. All the other horrible MCs can't amount to him. Poor ML deserves someone better. Someone so much better. Like maybe Xue Meng. He's always thinking about himself and never stand at the ML's shoes to think about things. I feel soo bad for the guy. Even more since I read a lot of spoilers

Listening to the audio drama just makes it even more heartbreaking!! I dont cry alot when it come to tv/book but this is one... more>> of those times <<less

So far, it's great!!! I like the plotline. The MC and ML are interesting characters. At first, I didn't understand why the MC was so difficult and against the ML. As you read on, you find out slowly why and mystery unfold. Mo Ran is a very difficult character---he can be black and white, and gray. Sometimes I find it hard to like or dislike him how he did everything, but towards the end----You will see why he's not so bad after all. I'm so glad I read it, and... more>> there will be a live adaptation^^. <<less

Ahhh Never re-read parts of a book so many times. Never been obsessed with the dynamics of a couple like RanWan. I do not understand what crack Meatbun put in this novel but it's so addiciting. I must admit that the ten-year age gap, the ambiguous beginnings of Chu Wanning's feelings towards Mo Ran, and TXJ's absolute ruthlessness bothered me. But, that was the point of these plotlines. Meatbun handled those so well. I will kowtow a million times to CWN.
Spoiler

And, MR's core bursting, almost dying, last few chapters - PAIN PAIN PAIN. So much pain.

[collapse]

I also love the morally grey characters in the story. Although, the ending felt rushed and almost incomplete, I nevertheless enjoyed the journey.

in the beginning of the novel, it's normal to dislike/hate moran (the mc) because he's MEANT to be disliked at the start, keep going and push through, it'll be worth it in the end.

this novel is so painful, the MC and ML love each other so much, the things they did just to protect each other T_T I dont even know how many times ive cried reading this.

i also loved the side characters and their own relationships, everything that have been set up from the start are explained and finished... more>> by the end of the novel, give it a chance ~ <<less

Mo Ran was an evil bloody tyrant in a previous life. He has another chance to live differently when he is reborn again into his teenage self studying cultivation.

In that previous life he blamed his cold temperamental Shizun for brutalizing him into the evil tyrant he became. With another chance he tries to prevent the shitshow of his previous life. In the process he begins to see how his selfish and immature choices were his responsibility. He develops empathy for his Shizun and begins to see that his Shizun actually... more>> tried to help him.

His Shizun is in fact a pure person who lives with integrity and follows a strict moral code devoted to helping others. He disciplines himself the same as he does his students. He doesn’t know how to give encouragement and express approval. He is in fact a lonely man with deep hidden feelings, one of which is his love for Mo Ran.

This story of redemption paired with a slow-burn romance are the main themes of the novel. The characters live in a fascinating cultivation world, populated with ghosts and other supernatural creatures. Shizun leads his disciples in exorcising malevolent spirits in a variety of fascinating adventures.

Definitely a good read with the caveat below.

I have to say I was fascinated by this novel from beginning to end. The story is very good and the characters fascinated me.

However there was a disturbing and intrusive narrative thread that made me put it down more than once—the main character, MoRan r*ped and tortured another character in a previous life. The memories of this are repeatedly detailed—not so much in the first two volumes but more later.

When you get to an actual romance these memories continue to crop up which I find saddening and disturbing. If I could get a version of this novel where this is just mentioned but not detailed I would definitely rate it as five star plus.

In the end I read through all available volumes (seven right now) skipping the r*pe/torture parts as I wanted to know what happened to these characters who I ultimately fell in love with. <<less

I really hated this novel in the beginning, Mo Ran was a f*ing a*hole. I couldn’t stand his personality and the way he behaved, contradicting himself. And don’t even get me started on the r*pe sh*t really...

The only reason I kept reading was cause this novel was my friend recommendation. But guysss isn’t this a masterpiece?! Gosh I really loved all the plots twists, yall the REASONS (yes plural) why Mo Ran was such f*cker are just mind blowing.

Aghhh the main couple is just something else. Their dynamic is... more>> the cutest after Mo Ran gets in his green flag era and starts redeeming himself. Also the way they always misunderstands each others is fascinating, especially Chu Wanning. Even though that’s another thing that bothered me in the begging, afterwards Mo Ran starts understating him better.

I also gotta give the author my praises cause their writing made me really engrossed, even when I didn’t like the novel. And fam the way they write smuts is on another level and that’s a promise. Really, I think if not the best smut writing, it’s on top 3.

Really wished I could comment on every single aspect of the story that made me feel like I was riding a roller coaster, but I’m not spoil it! Overall 9.5/10. <<less

The writing style of this novel is very beautiful, how one word becomes a series of sentences which makes the reader immersed in this novel. This novel made my emotions row to nowhere. But, after I read the whole novel.. I started to realize how bad MC is, before I read the whole story I already hated MC. How s*upid and irresponsible he is. And I hated him even more after finish this novel.

Even though the author wrote it so that the MC doesn't look like a criminal who committed... more>> crimes in the past in such a way. But that doesn't make the MC regret his actions in raping his shizun. And only regretted it because he thought that his shizun wasn't as bad as he thought and started to love him. In short he is a rapist who has no sense of self. But I like how the problems are condensed into one tight story even though it is very very long.

Overall, I like this in terms of how it is written. And I think this novel can get the maximum rating from me is 3/5. <<less

This novel is quite heavy emotionally speaking. I love it quite a bit and for that reason I pick it and put it down over and over again reading something lighter in between chapters. I think it's really well written, I usually hate flashbacks but in this book they are short and usually help the reader understand the characters personalities so I'm not finding them annoying. The characters are far from perfect and that's the Theme of this book, how they learn to understand each other and themselves. In conclusion... more>> if you are searching for wholesome characters and fluffy interactions better pass on this one <<less

It's definitely an interesting read; although I was doubtful at first due to the gong's personality, it got better after a certain arc. However, I disliked how the author made the character's suffer waaay too much when it was unnecessary at all, it felt like they just wanted the charas to be miserable as much as possible, which I incredibly hated.

Overall, the development in the relationship of the MC's made me love this novel despite its flaws, and I sincerely loved them, both the protagonists and antagonists; I wished that... more>> everyone could have the ending that they wanted, but oh well, wishes oft don't come true 😭. <<less

Not the first danmei I've read, but genuinely the best one. The way everything connects at the end it's just amazing, and I ended up liking the villain more than I thought I would. I also really love the writing here, and the complexity of the plot was something I wasn't expecting to be this good. The happy ending feels somehow forced, but I wouldn't like it as much as I do if it had a bad ending, so I take it.

This novel it's not a sweet pie, and that's one of reasons that's my favorite, it's a hard history, hurts a lot but worth too much. If u like danmei, and a good drama, this is for you!

Note: I’ve read the raws for this years ago but it still hurts like frick.

“长街血未尽,那是他带你回家的路啊”

The amount of sadness this novel left me with was speechless I remembered whaling to multiple songs for 2ha in youtube after listening to them because god this knife was sent straight into my heart.

The story starts like a-lot of regression stories whereby the MC (The gong) has done pretty unforgivable things to the ML (The shou) due to ALOT of misunderstandings. It starts out slow whereby the feelings of hatred in the MC’s past life... more>> still resurfaced even after resurrection, but soon he finds out more truth in the misunderstandings he had with the ML and he eventually reconciles with his feelings. But be prepared because there are aaaalot of knives in this novel.

At the start of the novel, there are a lot of times whereby you will seriously want to hit the MC and call him a moron instead of his actual name (Pun intended) but once you find the truth it’ll hurt.

The ML... my goodness he’s just so cute, a very tsundere character but he’s a good teacher, but definitely his past life was absolutely devastating. I FELT SO MUCH SADNESS FOR THIS CHARACTER. IT STILL HAUNTS ME.

The side characters in this novel are all really well written, and they have their own unique background but also some devastating stories. I like to say this but I personally like the antagonist of this novel although it’s a bit of a “Dog-blood antagonist” but I liked how Rou bao lao shi is able to write an antagonist whereby you won’t guess who it is until wayyy later in the novel.

Personally, I can see how this novel can also disturb people due to the s*xual/non-con content (This is why you read TWs before you read a book. Let’s all be responsible) and the scummy MC at the start, Trust me I’ve yelled at 3am with different types of Chinese profanities at him while reading. But the drug addicting effect this novel did to me was insane I remembered binge read this in 2 days and gave me depression in the 1 st week of winter break.

This novel left a deep impression on me so I’m giving it a 5 star!^-^ <<less

Couple (TopxBottom) : Mo Ran x Chu WanNing

This was the first ever novel I've read and to top it off, I MTL'd it. However, the plot was still relatively easy to understand. I decided to stop reading it before the plot becomes too complicated for MTL and wait for Seven Seas' licensing to catch up (because at the time I read this, Seven Seas only had Vol 1 published).

... more>> Review:

This novel is *not* for the soft heart; there are topics that are so grotesque and very complicated. There is a LOT of internal conflict for Mo Ran (who is the protagonist of the novel, and whose POV it's mainly centered on) and a great deal of angst. I've already deemed meatbun as a torturer of her characters, but in the end it actually carries the danmei world. However, I think that 2ha is very overrated, but it's a great novel to delve into if you're into novels where the protagonist is the top/seme/gong.

The novel centers around the trope of a master-disciple relationship, where the disciple is the top and the master the bottom. It starts off very toxic and from the perspective of Mo Ran and his dislike of his master, Chu WanNing. It involves two parallel universes and the process of redeeming oneself and finding true love through their struggles, suffering, and devotion. This is a novel where I cried for two hours and is not something I would reread because it's torture for the reader! <<less

I'm so confused reading this at first honestly @-@ BUT

Because I'm so confused I persevere till the end lol

I'm satisfied with the one who gave birth didn't expect that lololololol.

... more>> I'M honestly not very happy with redemption arc. I'm not content with that.

What he did to his ML is beyond torture and what the MC experience is just the view of the ocean not the undercurrent not the majestic view in the deep waters.

It's like a drop in the ocean but because ml's pov is very heart wrenching I'm moved to forgive the ML @-@

**Very biased review** love the characters the plot the drama the comedy the pa pa pa overall 99/100 HAHAHAHA

And Meng meng my boy my precious son, I'll adopt u come to me darling? Or nah have fun with ur *cough, cough* I won't spoil. <<less

I'm leaving this review because I want to express my thanks

the story is one of the most memorable stories I've read because of how the previous translators managed to capture the essence of how it was written in chinese to english,

I don't remember who were they but I was reading them probably in 2020's through g docs and they've stopped translating it due to certain circumstances (and I don't blame them since they're doing it out of their time which all of the translators do so its understandable) and... more>> man I bought one of the official book that was translated but I just couldn't continue reading it because of how it felt like it was watered down wine, idk how to explain it but I know that the book is worth to read so I would recommend this 1000%

P.S. Please don't be discouraged buying the official translation because of my rant, the quality is still great and perfect, please support the author 👍🏻 <<less
