In the post-apocalyptic world, Xie Sen was bitten to death by a zombie and woke up again as Xie Sen, the famous wastrel of Beast Star City – a child abandoned by the Beast God. After his 18th birthday, the contract beast did not awaken. This world did not have zombies, the air quality was also good, Xie Sen was very satisfied. As for the vegetables and plants, they were few and expensive. But he did not care, he had a plant system, so what was he afraid of?

The only thing is, the system had insufficient energy, and if Xie Sen wanted to plant, he needed to provide energy.

System: Another strategy is to let people appreciate you. When the gratitude energy reaches a certain amount, you can unseal a plant.

Xie Sen was willing to put himself out there to get points. But his strategy stalled when he met a handsome man named Maine Cox. Wasn’t this the man who was the ultimate villain boss and almost destroyed the Beast Planet in the book he read before he died?

Lovely!

Likable and interesting characters who change and develop, no need for a dramatic dogblood plot. There is some, but it's mostly about the world building. Which is the bizarro premise of the majority of edible plants going extinct and life carrying on regardless. There are forests, but those plants are all toxic.

The ML is one of the better ones, someone flawed but also sweet. Who talks about his issues and doesn't just use the MC as an emotional punching bag.

The extras are also cute.

Spoiler

The MC was understandable and his system was funny and suited him. He came to a strange place bt adjusted really well, he also decided to intervene in the story to basically save the world because he had already witnessed an apocalypse. The ML was a Bond-villain in the making, someone with a lot of emotional pain and insecurites but befriends the MC which leads to him healing. It's not an immediate process. I found it really original that the MC even thought about killing the ML before he could do anything, it's was a fitting decision for someone who came from an apocalypse.

It's a very easy and lighthearted read. MC was very OP so things progressed very smoothly for him. Although it is a beastworld, fantasy book, it read more like a slice of life book. Did not understand why the MC fell for the ML though. A decent enough read and I really enjoyed the scenes of the beast animals and found their desire to earn money through livestreaming adorable. The extras were really oddly paced though, especially the one on Huo Seng.

translation : 6/5

story : 4/5

characters : 2/5 (mostly due to MC tho)

... more>> but I'll say....

You don't have to agree with me for this review is completely a personalized opinion.

There's not much I'll say 'bout plot hole... it's a nice leisure time reading material, yes.

But, regarding the MC... sigh

Whether he was a really smart and clever guy or not,

Whether he had been 'living' in a post-apocalyptic world for years or not,

Whether he was a silly and naive fool or not,

Whether he was a careful and cautious person or not...

These kinda questions will definitely popped up in your head several times... for You will find these kinds of incongruity and brain hole in the text many times, so I suggest you readers to completely turn off your (not-so) healthy thinking brain.

No comments for ML tho.... maybe later I'll add some more <<less

A fun worthwhile read. Wasn't expecting to have enjoyed it as much as I did. MC slowly gets OP but it was an enjoyable journey all throughout with a nice sprinkling of face slapping when appropriate

This story definitely didn't turn out how I thought it would. I originally expected a bit more of a dog blood plot, such as toppling Maine's family and getting back at the people who caused the original Xie Sen to be miserable and take his own life. And those elements were definitely there, but most of the drama was wrapped up in a chapter or two. The rest of the novel was just a slice of life, and although it wasn't what I was expecting, it was a very sweet... more>> and fun novel to read! The super intelligent A class beasts deciding to live stream was pretty silly and unexpected, but it was funny. A lot of the novel really just focused on Xie Sen trying to recover Adam's (the system) energy and gain energy points.

One of the highlights was how Xie Sen tried hard to understand Maine and his insecurities. He overcame his bias of what he knew Maine did in the book, and worked to understand that he'd had a really miserable childhood and it caused him to be unstable. A lot of reviews are complaining about how controlling he was, but Xie Sen addresses that multiple times and his communication is on point. He sits Maine down, explains that he understand why he's being so anxious and controlling, but that it's unacceptable. Maine, to his credit, acknowledges that he's not acting appropriately and tries to make an effort to change. The couple's communication is really on point and there's no s*upid misunderstanding trope. Both the MC and ML go through a big emotional journey together and put in a lot of effort to accept each other.

There were some unanswered questions that I wish had been wrapped up

Spoiler

The biggest unanswered question being what actually happened to Maine's dad (the one who gave birth to him). There was just that one chapter where his shitty half-brother mentioned that Maine's dad didn't actually die in a car crash, but nothing else was ever mentioned about it or what actually happened.

I also don't like that Maine's grandfather got off with simply stepping down. He was a big part of all the bad things Maine went through, but he still got to retire with honor and the Cox family wasn't destroyed since Maine's grand-uncle and cousin took over. I was really hoping the whole family would be crushed... but as I mentioned, this novel had way less dog blood than expected, so it kind of makes sense. I just thought after Maine mu*dered Julos he'd be more harsh with the rest of the family.

Other than that there are just a few world building plot holes surrounding the whole beast contracts, beast transformations, and things like that.

I also wish that we'd gotten to see more of Sen's pregnancy. We got a pretty big chunk of the first months where his belly was flat, and then it skipped right to him having the baby. We never got to read about pregnant Sen and his belly, which is a bummer.

Overall though, I do highly recommend this novel. The main characters have deep personalities, the side characters are all unique and really fun the read, the extras give a few more characters their happy endings, and it's overall just a really entertaining story to read. <<less

Very smooth progressing gary stu story. Honestly there's alot of content in each chapters so you get alot of things going on. Eventually they all kind of change to different things, and it becomes messy after a while. Still, it's not that bad.

There's also alot of plotholes and things that are very ?? -- But it's not too bad, it didn't make me hate the novel so I think it's a fun read. If you have time and want an escape, I think it's nice to munch on. I read... more>> the raws. <<less

Rating: 3.6/5

There are a lot of exaggerated and ridiculous things going on in this novel. The MC is a Gary Stu who is very self-willed which means that he doesn't want to accept reality for a while even when the facts are presented to him. He also seems to overestimate his capabilities a lot. Even after he had been assaulted/kidnapped and had to be saved by others did he insist that he could protect himself and should therefore not need any sort of protection. No wonder the ML is always... more>> anxious about the MC's safety and needed to put an ankle monitor on him.

While the ML is a bit overly possessive and obsessed with keeping an eye on the MC it is easily explained and excused by his circumstances and history. On top of that, he always tried to compromise with the MC when their opinions differed, oftentimes giving in to the other since the MC can be really stubborn. I don't think he was overly controlling as he let the MC do whatever he wanted and navigated around that, always putting the MC first. Besides that he has really improved later on. He used to be too anxious to leave the MC and their child alone, but later learned to ease up and could go out for work instead of making his work partner come to him so that he didn't need to leave his family.

There were a lot of side characters, some 2D while others were fleshed out more. Some of them I forgot about and later got confused when they appeared and I didn't know who they were. Like... Who was Qiao Ke again?

Either way, I still don't like genius toddlers, but will close an eye this time since it was mentioned that the children grow up quickly so it's not only the MC's child that already acts like a five-year-old at just one-year-old. I don't like it, but okay... I won't judge too hard.

The plot itself was pretty smoothe sailing. Antagonists kept popping up like in a whack-a-mole game. But they were done away and rid off easily and smoothly. If you are in search for a novel where the MC doesn't meet any real obstacles, this novel might be for you. <<less

Loved it!

Although there are some parts relating to the plot that could be explained better and in more detail, it is still great. I was looking for a novel with a doting and protective ML, so this is totally what I look for. Due to the ML's experience, he is very protective of the MC. However, when the MC believes he needs personal space, he will talk to the ML immediately and the ML will accept it. I love how the MC and ML are tolerant with each other and... more>> straight out talk it out when needed to.

All the contract beasts are so cute too. It's so interesting to read about them and it so funny sometimes.

Plus the last two extras, I wish I can read more about them. <<less

It’s a cute read and I love how the story developed.

And yes, the MC had a lot of interactions with beasts than with plants but it’s kinda understandable since he is a plant-beast tamer.

This is a really good and cute read where there’s really not much angst or no angst at all. Just a chill read to pass the time.

One issue for me is that the MC (and sometimes his friends) made some decisions in the later part of the story that I don’t agree on.... more>>
Spoiler

Like when they were in Blue Planet, they wanted to “save” a clam from an auction house and they resorted to stealing the clam when they could have just won the clam from the auction since they’re really rich or they could have negotiated beforehand to the auction house leader since he wasn’t really doing something illegal. I don’t know, I just think that stealing at that time wasn’t the best they could have done

like the MC starting his own company for agriculture

[collapse]

But unfortunately, overall the writing wasn't very exciting. For the most part, the author simply wrote a lot of X did this, X did that. There wasn't much tension and overall was a very uneventful storytelling.

The beginning had more interest/tension, but after a certain point it just became your typical levelling up/powerup story where the MC just collected more and more beasts, money, plants, powers, etc.

The villains weren't particularly smart either (very braindead).

So I would recommend this if you want to read something more braindead or something that's more filling without a lot of emotional ups/downs.

Translation wasn't bad, flowed well (edited MTL so a few mistakes but not too many). <<less

The title wasn't exactly right. The summary itself also wasn't exactly right but part of it DID played in the novel!

Anyway this Novel is really Wonderful and I'm Absolutely LOVING IT!!!

I had read the author's other 2 novels before this, and both I Love, so I believe this novel also would be Good. And I trust the Translation Site! And I'm not Disappointed at all~

This novel is not just about Plant. While the Plant definitely play a Big Role, another plot is also Big aka about the Contract Beast. The... more>> point is MC has Awesome Golden Fingers, and he used all that for Good!

I also LOVE how our MC doesn't shy from confront ML and have a Good Communication so they could always have a Healthy Loving Relationship! And ML will always listen! MC gets ML's worry and paranoia. MC also know what's good and not good for him. So he never make fuss when ML told him what he did as long as he doesn't Cross the line.

ML himself is Sweet to MC. He's Protective and Possessive, but also Absolutely Doting and always listen to MC. He's Very Good !

And I also Adore their friends! The Supporting Characters are all good people ! While the Villains, they don't afraid to defeat!!!

And the Extras are Pleasant Surprise ~

I'm Truly Loving this Precious Lovely Wonderful Novel!!! For the Eternity and Beyond ~!!! <<less

A little bit different from usual title plot... but it was full of humour and fluff in the middle. Interesting read and not boring type as long you ignored loopholes in the plot. Worth reading as the translation is great💖💖💖

Imaginative story of a plant master who uses plants to attack - an all-around entertaining read!

The premise is the MC Xie Sen dies during a zombie apocalypse and transmigrates into a book with the help of his System. In his new life on a beast planet, he encounters and ends up befriending the story’s villain. During this time, Xie Sen also accumulates gratitude to activate his plants/weapons and searches for certain energies that his System needs to recuperate from the transmigration.

The side characters are developed enough to have interesting personalities... more>> but do not dominate the story in any way. There are also cute and intelligent contract beasts, villains that set up their own demise, and a few great extras that really wrap up the story well - definitely recommend reading this when you’re in the mood for a light, fluffy, and fun read.

The plot of mostly good but there are some parts of the plot that I thought could've been tightened or even eliminated. So, overall the story is somewhere between 4 and 5 rating but the extras pushed it up to 5. I really appreciate it when the author takes the time to give important side characters some time in the spotlight and a glimpse of the future - it really helps satisfy the reader's curiosity!

I personally really enjoyed the relationship development that had the main CP become friends before falling in love. <<less

A fun story, full of fluff.

Warning though,

it's mostly about an obsessive lover being soothed for a really long time to get a tiny bit better with giving space to his lover, mini space travel and collecting cute pets and friends.

just a few plot holes and things I dislike

Spoiler

1. Adam's story of where he came from is never explained. Just he was his system in the apocalypse.

2. In the beginning, he could also communicate with the system plants but after he just uses them as weapons and as (what they're really are) food. No more communications with system plants. Also, I thought he could store the plants in system space but then, trees are use as defense to hide from attacks but they don't move? How does it act like a contract beast then? Just act like a non-moving (normal) tree?

3. Why does he just give away the fruits and vegetables after battle. Doesn't he get angry when people act like it's normal for them to take away his things even when they're being really rude (including the police) ?

4. I pity the young master Qiao guy, he kept trying to get a contract with the giant lion and even worked hard and was nice to help them when in trouble but didn't really gain anything.

5. Curious, what happened to ML's uncle? He got a job transfer and then?
