There was a big scandal in the Mu family.

The real daughter of the Mu family was switched by the nanny since she was a child. The Mu family didn’t bring her back from countryside until 17 years later!

After the true daughter returned – There was no affection, only sympathy.

The Mu family parents asked her, “We have a deep relationship with Yaoyao. We can’t let her lose face. We can only announce you as an adopted daughter to the outside world. You won’t blame us, right?”

Her fiancé also said: “My fiancée can only be Yaoyao! Get out of here country bumpkin.”

The attitude of her older brother Mu Qingyi was even more complicated.

Yet despite all that, the real daughter, Xu Xinduo, said indifferently, “It doesn’t matter.”

***

From a young age Xu Xinduo could swap bodies with a certain teenager. That teenager would always exclaim in an annoyed tone, “Let’s switch bodies, I just don’t feel like taking piano lessons.”

Xu Xinduo helped the teenager to win various trophies, become a top student and honed his noble temperament and talent after taking over his body.

***

At a banquet, everyone in the Mu family watched as a rich young master strode towards Xu Xinduo and said, “Be my girlfriend, although you are from a small family… you are very beautiful.”

With a smile Xu Xinduo replied, “I’m starting to miss my parents already.”

Such a quick change of attitude?!

The romantic story of the indifferent real daughter x a filthy rich despotic young master

Note: Here “switching bodies” means swapping of souls. It’s temporary and doesn’t involve any physical changes.

Suuper interesting and unique! Obviously it's fluffy and nothing super complex, but the premise is interesting and I'm starting to enjoy MC's character. I wish ML would show some restraint in her body! But I guess he has the power to back it up, and he wants to pamper her, so he can be (reluctantly) forgiven.

Can't wait for the face-slapping! Thanks to the translating team's hard work! Btw I advise potential readers to wait for more chapters to stockpile first before reading; every chapter is split into 2-3 parts.

Haven't read enough to form a proper opinion, but thus far:

Standard set-up and characters which are nevertheless made more interesting by the body-swapping. Nice to see that the author followed up with the inevitable dissonance which would result from different people occupying the same body. Relationship between the two leads seems good. The ML has a temper but it's well written and adds to his character. FL has a bit of a non-personality. The writing can be a bit jumpy, and I got whiplash from how fast events/relationships progressed.

Hopefully this... more>> will continue to keep the good while branching away from standard tropes. <<less

The FL is so cool and beautiful. I really need for the ML to appear and for the Mu family to realize how shameless and bad they are. Like anyone with a right mind would realize that the FL had the same look as the brother the the so called sister. I feel really frustrated with that Mu sister and her fiancee like duh ?

This novel is very great and the concept is exciting. You will never know what will happen next that it makes you anticipate the next chapter. I like the FL character which is very indifferent in the face of her new family. Moreover, she is smart, beautiful, and independent.

It is truly unfortunate that the most liked is review is an idiot review who read less then a 100 chapters in a 400+ chapter novel and therefore is completely incorrect.

No MC accomplishes all of that and is known for it, she’s famous eventually and is known for her own achievements.

No, the Mu family IS that bad and the dad gets so much worse while the mom and brother are able to redeem themselves quite a bit.

There’s a difference between reviews that explore different viewpoints, while some just make you... more>> wonder if they even know how to read. <<less

Surprisingly this was a good read. I really liked the FL, but towards the end she kinda becomes a mary sue.

But what made me stay and finished this novel is the growth of the lead characters (And Lou Xu, she's my favorite character. I want to be reincarnated as her.) From being teenagers, not knowing boundaries, and being prideful to adults who talks things out and atleast tries to understand each other. I also adore the ML because he is probably the most balance ML between cold domineering and... more>> funny cute (Atleast from what Cnovels I've read.)

It was a cute read to pass time. <<less

Maybe it's because I haven't read the whole novel, but the MC's personality is very inconsistent. She's cold one second, angry in another and then becomes awkward all of a sudden. She's also quiet most of the time and doesn't have much of an introspection, so I can't get a feel of how her personality is. It makes it really hard to get attached to her as a character.

The other characters, especially Mu Qingyao (the fake daughter), also seem to fall really flat. The only trait the fake daughter seems... more>> to have is her jealousy for the MC. You'd think because she grew up in a wealthy family, she'd have some hobbies that distinguish her or better means to deal with the MC, at least. Overall, most antagonistic characters seem like typical low-IQ villains.

Furthermore, I'm a couple of chapters in, but I can already tell that the MC and ML have feelings for each other. Looking at how many chapters are in the novel, I'll know this will be needlessly drawn out and there will be unnecessary misunderstandings, which I'm not in the mood for.

The ML also doesn't seem to be particularly outstanding to me. It looks like all his achievements were done by the MC while she was in his body. I will say that, again, it may be because I haven't read further in to the novel, but my impression is that all the ML does is get the MC into trouble and cause issues for her- even if it may be involuntarily.

I will say that the novel is not worth only the 2 stars I've given it, but I think the overall rating needs to be lowered. I expected to be entertained for a bit more than 30 chapters considering it has a rating of above 4. <<less

It's rare that I like the ML more than the MC but I actually found the MC quite annoying towards the end. When they had already confirmed their relationship and got together, she still remained so aloof and uncaring that I genuinely felt pity for the ML. This was quite the change considering I really liked and admired the MC at the start. Found myself skimming the later chapters because of the MC. The fan wai was really bad too.

it started well with a swapping bodies premise but did nothing for the novel's slow pace. She, as the title says, does not care about anything but the ML and I wouldn't care either but it makes the story a little bit boring at some point. To summarize, a good novel but nothing more.

Spoiler

Dont know if it is a spoiler but, if you are going to read it for the swaping bodies part, forget it, the relevance of it is minimal just for the sake of them to know each other and some other minor details.

I just couldn't go more than 20 chapters. It the classic cliche of manhua romance, only thing unique is the personality of ML and FL but the problems around them is just too cliche that I can't continue.

fake b*tchy sister [CHECK]

Over confident young masters [CHECK]

World bent on being against FL [CHECK]

No background, story starts abruptly, ML is a douche

Only positive is the FL being cold and that's because I like cold characters

'Upgraded version of Gossip Girl' as quoted by Eclat123 in her review. 'More dense, less gory version of the Penthouse' based on my opinion, for an asian comparison. It was really full of drama, so I am a little surprised to not see in the tags or the genres. It was also some of the most hectic writing, whereby a few hundred things are happening within a few lines.

My opinion on this book was a little bit of a rollercoaster, it had a promising start, became disappointing somewhere in the... more>> middle, and had a surprisingly satisfactory round up in the end. It was very Mary Sue & protagonist halo, but it managed to stand out. It begins in the premise of MC and ML being able to do body swaps, knowing each other basically their whole lives, which is actually one of the tropes that I have never seen before. The last time I saw this was probably in an anime with a boring plot. It is one of those cool things I wish I could do.

Some of my favourite things:

  • The detailing of MC, her past and her health. Honestly, dysmenorrhea is a normal problem many women face, even me and I was so touched to read about a character who had it, and it was pretty detailed too. Xinduo's past, her experiences of family makes it pretty self-explanatory when it comes to why she doesn't really care much for the Mu Family. I wish grandma xu got more screen time though, she was cool.
  • The adorable ML. I have had enough of steely faced MLs who are a decade older. Most mothers out there are complaining about their rowdy boys, and authors are just snatching up all the well behaved ones for stories is just meh. The ML going wild, being rebellious, and being such a cute friend and love interest totally captured me. Tbh fun, loud and wild >>> steely, cold, no personality. Very real.
  • Side characters have redemption. They are not all cannon fodders. Mama Mu and Brother Mu ended up with a broken non-functional family in exchange for being excessively passive and allowing Baba Mu to do bad things. They got Xinduo back when they stopped being passive and actively took charge of their lives. Baba Mu did bad things and lost his company and almost lost his life because of it. Yet, he reflects and realises the mistakes he makes, his company gets temporarily saved, and he doesn't die. His character doesn't change at all, still that greedy little bleep, but is a true reflection of 'some people never change'. Even that Yaoyao, eventually reflects and decides not to stab ML and MC, and in exchange she ends up with a few years of prison sentence instead of for life. The Shen family one and the one he cheats with don't end up happy either after reaping all the benefits of the Mu family conflict. It really goes a whole circle for these side characters and surprisingly, I was more than satisfied with their conclusions, even if we don't get a in depth view into their lives. Their choices and actions tell a bigger tale of who they are than the author could.
  • Baba Tong and Mama Yin, they are so funny. They go around confusing people with their childish relationship dynamics. If my mama heard about couples like these, she will tell me they messing around cause they don't need to be worried about saving for their kid's college. I did not read the extras, so I am a bit curious, did Baba Tong ever find out what was going on between MC and ML? He was the funniest character with how clueless he was the whole time. There were moments I felt like I was reading a spin off of this main couple's children's life.
Overall, I am very satisfied. Maybe could cut down on the boring bits of the school drama a little, make the writing less hectic, but otherwise, it perfectly suited the writing style and story dynamics. I don't really have much criticisms for this one, just satisfaction, so I will end it here with a 5 star review.

Speaking of knowing each other their whole life, I had a dream just the other day, of a romantic interest I have known my whole life, sweeping me off my feet on a fancy motorcycle, with approval from my parents. Just that this prince on a motorcycle, or a majestic white horse, doesn't actually exist. I feel cheated, and I blame my overactive imagination. <<less

Yet another swapped daught of the rich that is marginalized upon her return story. So what sets this one apart?
    • They are significantly younger (teens, not adults) - be prepared they actually act like teens. They don't all run massive companies and still need help with things. Quite refreshing. They also mature a bit over the course of the novel as they should!
    • Although it starts with the same premise, these characters ultimately have a lot more depth. They are not just greedy and full of pride.
      Spoiler

Mom has been verbally ab*sed since her marriage began, the brother is torn between the family he knows and doing what is right coupled with an awkward personality that kind of paralyzes him and prevents him from committing to either side, the swapped daughter is awful- but more compellingly - terrified of what would happen to her if she was forced out of the family (and rightfully so given Father Mu), the dad is a ball of greed who does have feelings for his family but he wants control and benefits more than their happiness, the MC has an inferiority complex, the 'perfect gentleman' friend is secretly suicidal, etc.

      [collapse]
    • The body swapping! It's so great and provides both humor and such a strong bond between them. Lots of attention to detail. Doesn't shy away from things like them using the bathroom or being on her period. They both have feelings of ownership over both bodies and even how they style themselves. It's not a 'oh no, I'm a boy in a girl' s body' kind of dumb humor.
      Spoiler

Instead, it's smart humorous details like when she first transfers, and is attending the same school she is used to attending AS HIM, she almost enters the boy's bathroom from habit or the mom seeing a photo of the two together when he's not wearing black and responding, "Both my daughters are so cute."

      [collapse]
    • They really take such good care of each other. Yeah, his EQ is pretty low, but her's isn't super high either.
    • As some people have said, their swapping is NOT unfair. She's not winning competitions 'for him', she's winning for herself. He's competing because She wants to compete. They are both smart and talented.
    • 'His' Mom and 'her' Grandma.
      Spoiler

They both figure it out. They love the kids equally and totally accept it. Mom is the BEST wingman. He obviously gets his EQ from his dad.

      [collapse]
Trigger warning: There are 3 scenes of physical ab*se (not with the F/ML) that may be difficult for some readers, and I wish the characters had dealt with it directly in the novel.
Spoiler

There is revenge against the 2 ab*sers, but a few different characters know the girl was beaten by the one person and no one tries to get her to a safe place. She may have refused to go if asked, but it bothered me that no one asked.

[collapse]

Overall, an easy read. I personally liked the main characters. Sometimes I feel like this setup must have been a writing prompt given how many stories begin with this premise! This is by far and away one of the better stories. But do expect the children to act like children.

Tbh, I don't know how many times I've seen this in the past but skipped it because the synopsis gave me a very cliche feeling of fake-real daughter, the ML taking advantages of the FL's talent through body swap, plus arrogant and tsundere love interest. However, I ran out of something to read so I decided to give it a try and I must say that the synopsis doesn't give justice to the whole story somehow.
Spoiler

Sure, the family conflict is indeed complicated but to say there is no affection is actually limited to Father Mu (that s*umbag). Also, the synopsis somehow portrayed that the ML is very willful and take advantage of the FL's talent in piano so he often swap with her, then gaining a lot of awards. If you think of that, she's indeed the one who won that award, but on the second thought, all her skills were learned through their body swap and the ML isn't that bossy when swapping, he usually ask permission before swapping. Then the last part of the synopsis was actually taken from a scene in the story and it's actually with the intent of joking. It gave me the impression of the ML as arrogant and narcissistic but in truth, the ML was actually like a big dog— clingy, easy to coax, and likes to act cute sometimes.

[collapse]

Let's talk about the FL.
Spoiler

She's not that OP, but has a very powerful learning ability, talented, and hardworking. She having a lot of skills was also justified as she learned all of that while being in the ML's body. As for her character, she looks indifferent but she actually cares about a lot of things. She looks confident but actually has some inferiority complex. She looks like she doesn't give a damn but in truth, she sometimes overthink and blames herself for the things she can't control. In short, the FL is a paradox. She always likes to wear the mask of indifference, and was sometimes forced to be indifferent in order not to be hurt too much. I can't say I like her character design very much but I don't hate it, in fact I like it. It's just that her thoughts and feelings were too vivid and realistic that she deviated from my ideal OP FL (my ideal FL is fictional, like, very fictional).

[collapse]

As for the ML,
Spoiler

Just like the FL, he looks arrogant but is actually kind, but he's more decisive and confident than the FL. Perhaps it's because of his environment. He's very clear about his like and dislike, and he's also sometimes dense. Just like when he wants to help the FL, he doesn't quite understand the FL's thoughts and just wanted to help her by his own means. Nevertheless, he's very respectful of her choice. Even he has a somewhat spoiled disposition, he's not a s*umbag with a twisted mentality. He's very protective of his own people, just, he's slightly dense about the complexity mind (but he's not s*upid nor ignorant of the dark side of humans). Anyway, I actually like him more than the FL. Is he a tsundere? I actually don't know since just like I said, if he likes someone, he'll just show it. Definitely not like tsundere. He can even act spoiled and cute to the FL just to be coaxed by her.

[collapse]

Regarding the romance, it's pretty simple yet it's deep. They are childhood friends, and even more than that since they can body swap. Their relationship is more than just any friends or lovers. It can be said that their relationship is like anyone can betray them, but they are sure that each other won't. Both of them are pretty dense, although the FL fell in love first, when the ML fell for her too, they were like, "I don't dare to confess because he/she might reject me."

And for the main conflict which is the Mu family, aside from my definite disgust for that s*umbag father, I quite feel complicated for the others, including Mu Qingyao. None of them were innocent.
Spoiler

Mother Mu was very submissive and because of that, even if she wanted to approach her daughter, she always hesitate, until Xu Xinduo finally quit. As for Mu Qingying, I kinda feel bad how he's caught in the middle. The FL feel uncomfortable seeing him because of some envy but then again, he's innocent with the child swapping incident. However, he has some feelings for the family he grew up with for 17 years but at the same time, wants to make up for the lost twin he never met for 17 years. At the end, what meant to happen happened. And for Mu Qingyao, I absolutely don't like her, but her emotions when she finally snapped were vividly written that I can feel her chaotic feelings until everything snapped and she collapse to an endless calmness, the type where you'll just feel empty and indifferent about life. But of course, what actually happened to her was a consequence of her own doings.

[collapse]

About the body swap, tbh, I'm expecting that their circumstances will end after they turn 18 or something but it didn't. I'm also quite disappointed that their body swapping incident was not explained at all. Were they cursed, was it just fate, what? At least give some explanation for the story's "uniqueness".

Lastly, the supporting characters, especially Shao Qinghe, were excellently written too. For me, the characters who's emotions gave me a vivid display of them were Xu Xinduo, Mu Qingyi, Mu Qingyao, and Shao Qinghe. It was quite astonishing how the author managed to make those emotions appealed to the readers.

As for the extra chapters, well, I skipped the alternate universe or some sort because I find it boring, I think it's better if the extra chapters are just their university life or something. Also, it was said that the FL got pregnant when she's 36, well, it's anyone's choice when to get married or to have a child, but just a piece of gentle reminder, it's actually not advisable for women to have a late pregnancy since it's very risky, especially at past 35 (even more so when it's first pregnancy) as it can lead to some complications and caesarean section. Well, giving birth was always risky despite of age anyway but being pregnant at this age is riskier because its nearing the menopause age, so some health complications may happen.

Overall, it was actually quite good despite my not so good first impression because of the synopsis. The scenes may be fictional but the emotions and thoughts of these fictional characters were realistic. The translation was actually very good as there's almost no mistake, even if there is, I probably can't even remember it because it's so insignificant. Nevertheless, it's a good and decent story. 8.5/10

This translator even beat Flying Lines team in their fashion of splitting chapters. Make 89 into almost 450!! That's a talent, okay?

Must confess, I haven't fully finished reading this novel, basically read the first part and then the ending. It's one of those novels when I put it down, leaving it for later and never picked up again basically. Skimming through first few chapters it downed on me why exactly I did that.

I wish the novel would have dropped the "switching babies at birth" plot and concentrated only on the... more>> "swapping bodies". Swapping bodies has potential, while switching babies is fully cliche and routine in this novel that my head hurts.

Note: I'm not against the plot of switching babies itself, but the Mu family acts like one-cell villains (as they are though), which unfortunately are abundant in such plots. They even use same catchphrases. And it entirely lacks any humanity, any individuality and asically it's bad. It's almost my pet peeve when in such family they act and say things that contradict themselves. They righteously say that - our blood should not live outside, or another example is - we owe the girl who lived outside. But in general it's just giving financial support, while owing things is simply ridiculous, these children always get some shameful status, which is scrutinized by others and they never get justice. I understand that not all people are kind and are ready to welcome their lost child (Mu family is such an example), but if you're a**holes, then be them with your head held high, don't bring the child back or better - ask your child if they want to get back. At least try, instead of the overall prejudice. The process of Mu family reason and actions are really flushed and have no detail, but the reason behind Xiundo's actions is even more far-fetched. I almost have a dislike for her acting smart and s*upid at the same time. Why? Simply because she and Tong Yan swap bodies. I understand that some people don't like to owe things, but what is wrong with owing? Do you live so far in the sky that it's so hard to owe the one closest to you. I understand it may be like a burden, but that depends on who you owe to. Especially if it's Tong Yan. With his status it was simply easy to use any eaxcuse to help grandma Xu. After all he grew up under her care and he's half her grandchild, he has all the right to help and he also has resources to do so, but the misplaced babies plot wouldn't move if everything was so logical. She comes back and has to be together with people who are openly hostile, but act under the banner of - ah, it's our blood after all. Honestly, so brain-dead.

That's why I wish this novel only had the body swap plot, body swap always has potential and humor. After all both of them swap bodies and lives, it's really hard to treat same people differently when being in two different bodies. Also initially have different social status, not to mention gender. One is a typical boy who acts like a monkey and the other is a girl who thanks to ML's parents felt what it's like to be cared for by a mother. They have very different lives, but a very special experience of swapping bodies. They can truly understand each other.. from inside out :'D after all like all FLs Xiundo has crazy menstrual cramps and she can share it with her bestie Tong Yan.. Waking up up to the morning wood and other intimate physical things... Jokes aside, basically this shaped how they act a lot. I can't say that Tong Yan became less boyish, he's more sensitive and accepting to girl stuff, while Xiundo is less talkative and sometimes more boyish, because she grew up as a boy and had to act like a boy and had to keep her identity swap a secret, which became a habit. He happily free-wheeled in her body enjoying the freedom of the village children and she could do things she would never come in touch with, Inevitable that because they care about each other eventually with the awakening of adolescence they woke up to feelings as well. But when this plot could have more development, potential etc. it had to squeeze with that damn swapping babies brain-dead part. Sigh. Ugh my blood pressure is soaring. <<less

Between 2 and 3 stars. I can see the potential of the story and can see how some may like it, but I can't finish it right now.

Translation/Writing - It's good. No mistakes in grammar or spelling. And writing is great as well. It's not super huge walls of text and it's not one sentence paragraphs either.

Story - It's a slow burn. In 165 chapters, I can say that it is a story where "a lot happens, but at the same time, nothing happens". Stuff has happened, like some face... more>> slapping, some drama, some MC/ML romance, etc., but none of it leads anywhere (To be fair, it has started to move, but I'm so drained from the story to actually care.) Just for fun, I skipped to 320-ish because of some spoilers I read and it seems very entertaining, but it also seems like it took 150 more chapters for it to become fun.

Characters -

I feel like they really dropped the ball in this department. The main characters have a lot of "misunderstandings." Even though these misunderstandings don't actually cause huge issues in the story, it increases the "a lot happens, but at the same time, nothing happens" feeling I get when reading this.

ML (Male Lead) is just a spoiled rich kid. Even more spoiled than the average "spoiled rich kid MC" because the MC can do his academic and piano work. Not really a fleshed out character. Very basic as a ML (He's mean, rich, handsome, and likes the MC in a tsundere way. There I described him perfectly). Because he switches bodies with poor rural girl often, I was hoping ML would learn some skills or values because of being in the countryside. Like how the MC got an elite education when she was in ML's body. But no. He always just leaves the MC's body in a worse situation than before they switched.

The background characters are the worst. They talk behind the MC's back, then would praise the MC 2 minutes later after anything. They insult in front of people's faces, start violence and tantrums when things don't go their way. Maybe it's realistic for a high school or something, but it's unpleasant to read (and I don't think it's realistic in a prestigious Chinese school).

"Fake Daughter"- There's no nuance to her character. She's just a mean two-faced person.

- The MC's Brother - Favorite Character - Mu Qingyi - It is very refreshing to see a competent/empathetic family member for once. It's simple. He sees through the very shallow "green tea" persona that the "fake daughter" does almost immediately after MC comes and He takes a somewhat active approach to helping the MC. <<less

Dropped at Chapter 50 of 442 on Fan Translation website. I should've dropped it earlier but wanted to give it a chance. However, it became annoying... the amount of forum discussions was excessive. I guess the author really, truly, and without fail wanted to express the awesomeness of Tong Yan (ML). Once or twice is enough but it was overly repetitive.

The plot seemed good but the writing style felt juvenile. Xu Xinduo, FL, was still a character lacking a personality by Chapter 50. There are many short novels that accomplished... more>> to give their characters life in just one or two chapters. This novel was a waste of time. <<less

The premise is interesting but the follow through just ended up as another cliché novel that has super OP FL.

This story is about the typical switched at birth trope, where a rich family's baby is switched with a poor family's baby. One grows for 15 years as a wealthy spoiled miss loved by her "twin" brother and her parents. While the other baby grows up in a small village with barely any porridge to eat, so she is constantly malnourished and sickly. Eventually, the original family finds her and takes... more>> back the original blood daughter as an "adopted daughter" just because the father doesn't want to break a business engagement with the fake daughter and his colleague. It's a generic storyline that has been adopted many times.

In this case, the difference is that the FL can swap souls with another wealthy boy born on the same day as the twins. It's a bit forced that the FL swaps soul with a same age boy that is a complete stranger as opposed to her real twin brother. Through this soul swap, the FL is able to be a genius in all OP skills like education, extreme sports, martial arts, piano, music composition, and etc. Of course, since she learned all these skills vial soul swap in a male perfect body, she is also adapt her own real body as well. Ignoring the fact that she supposedly has a weak and sickly female body. Yeah, whatever. She's OP for the sake of being OP. Ignore the details of her physical body's capabilities and the fact that she was able to absorb all sorts of skills just by soul swapping only some times. It's not like she lived in the other boy's body all the time.

As for the ML, he starts off as a sort of tsundere character that causes all sorts of troubles, and gives off an angry personality for no reason whatsoever. He's pretty much just a 2-dimensional character. It was amusing at first when he didn't realize his love for the FL. However, once the romance was establish, it got kind of stale.

Overall, I found the only interesting parts in the story were when their souls were swapped, but the more the story progressed, we didn't see as much of it. The majority of the story is just about the FL showcasing all her OP skills near the ML in her own body. Piano prodigy, Top Model, Music Composer, top of the Academic Advanced Class (even though she never studies and does her homework last minute), Top Table Tennis Player, Top Tennis Player, Skilled Skate Boarder, Skilled handicrafts and etc. There's absolutely nothing that the FL can't do.

It's a relatively short read, so if you like these style of stories, you may like it. It's worth reading, just for the uniqueness of the body swaps. For instance, the ML likes to have twin braided pig tails. Or when the couple argued about swapping bodies for their first time because no one wanted to feel the pain. Or when they swapped bodies during pregnancy and child birth. <<less

(Honestly, after writing this review I realized I sound like I love MQYao) But rlly its bc the author makes her evil actions seem so forced like ... more>>

when she literally mu*ders Father Mu bc hes useless w/o money.

[collapse]

It's like the author half-assed the story by making the villain extremely s*upid, incompetent, and villainous while the MC is perfect, capable, and moral. The novel started off well, but atp i've forgotten what it was like. Usually I get it and love how overdramatic and exaggerated it is, but am I the only one who feels pity for MQYao???

1. The author continuously acts like you SHOULD favour a biological stranger over someone you raised, simply because of blood relations. The Mu Family can start getting to know XXD, but this doesn't mean they should shun/kick out MQYao who they raised. This just makes the familial relationship superficial :).

It was not her fault in the first place that she was switched, and she wasn't the one to make the decision to hide XXD's identity either. She was just glad for the decision: she wasnt gonna be replaced. Obv somebody would feel an inferiority complex/imposter syndrome if you realized everything you have was "supposed" to be someone else's.

Even MQYi's immediate shunning of MQYao feels forced; its ok to have a slow realization yk. Most ppl dont break off 16 yr relationships that quickly.

2. I saw someone say MQYi was also spoiled the same way, but lets not forget that MQYao is a girl, and would obviously be treated differently (especially when you look at how much of a b**** father Mu is). She's already objectified, kept just because of her marriage. You can tell from how Father Mu keeps talking about daughters being useless unless she marries rich.

I'm not talking about her actions; they are wrong, but the author makes them feel so forced. She's being deliberately made into someone unforgivable, simply bc she was dealt a bad hand.

It also just doesn't make sense that she only sees her family for the money?? She did grow up with them for 17 years or so?? Do you really think it makes sense that she has only greed, no attachment, if not some familial love? She's made out to be unfilial just bc she's unbiological, as if she wasn't treated as a biological daughter for over a decade.

In the end, Father Mu's actions are basically brushed over: he has some regret,

, idk what happens after, but him being the main problem is overshadowed bc MQYao is made into a lunatic. ?. About the mc;

I like her, she's nice & perfect, she's basically morally right all the time. I love Mary Sue fls; they're usually my favourite, but only when it's interesting and with the bare minimum of a flaw. There's barely any character development for XXD, bc she's already perfect. Her personality isn't all that interesting besides being a genius, cold outside cute inside, and these random "cool" skills acquired bc of the body swap trope. Nothing showed her struggling to get what she has. Her lazily-built perfectness make no significant contributions to the plot, except to make it easier for the author and to make the "biological daughter favoured over raised" trope justified.

The villains are extremely villainous, morally corrupted psycho and all, the MC is perfect (w a barely justified reason) so everything gets solved in 200 words, and everything else is unmemorable. I even forgot ab the body swap part bc it isn't even mentioned much in the later chapters.

I can praise the relationships tho; XXD's complex towards TY's spendings makes a lot of sense. I lovee Yin Hua, I lovee LYT and I lovee SQH. There are so many likeable side characters, actually. The Mus, aside from the father and the made-evil QYao, aren't all terrible. They weren't villainously evil initially either; just didn't deal w the situation well.

Overall, its a typical, ok face slapping read that requires you to shut off ur brain sometimes. It's probably not as terrible as it sounds from my review, and I see how a lot of ppl are enjoying it. Have I read too much face slapping novels that my brain cant digest more? Idk. But it you do enjoy them very much, and if u feel u might disagree w my opinion, I hope u don't get influenced by me and go ahead to read! I can see why people enjoy it so much, but its just not my cup of tea <<less

Good, realistic character characterizations. At first I thought it the MC would be aloof, stoic and multi talented. But that is just one face of her character. She is a sensitive girl. Weak physically. A bit insecure at times. Has her own pride and ambitions. Hesitates in some descisions. Her character matches her age.

ML is surprisingly not that smart, has low EQ and maybe IQ too. But he would stay away heartlessly from any friend that has confessed to him even if they were friends before. Which somehow shows maturity... more>> since he doesnt lead on girls. Realizes his love for the MC a bit late. Tbh nothing much noteworthy about him except that he cares a lot about MC and has a lot of money since he is from a very rich family.

Overall, this is good, funny romcom. But it gets a bit boring as you go through it since it is kind of a very slow burn. <<less

Initially I was put off by the poor ratings but surprisingly it wasn't an awful read.

The things I loved about this story was how considerate the ML was to the MC, though the romance itself was kinda slow for my tastes. I loved the relationship-dynamic between them even during the platonic stages.
