To save the hopeless Dark Fantasy World, I held back my tears and destroyed the world, then killed the Demon King and returned.

Now, I’m trying to save the world using the “System” I gained as a “Regressor’s Privilege”… But the Main Heroines have also awakened their own memories of the previous timeline.

God damn it.

An okay novel, not as bad as some reviews say, but also not as good as others claim. It's pretty clear the author's trying hard, both with plot and ppl, but it feels like they don't have the experience they need to write well what they planned. Things like pacing need work, and I'd especially love if the author employed the show, don't tell approach. Quite a few times, things are explained at length repeatedly when a much more powerful impact could be achieved if readers are allowed to watch... more>> and form their own conclusions. Still, these things aside, plotline seems good so far. Praying the author grows in coming chapters. The novel has a lot of potential, as long as it can be written well. <<less

Reading this novel feels like being stuck in quicksand. You struggle to keep moving forward, but in the end you're actually moving backwards.

This is actually the second time I picked up this novel after dropping it some years in the past. No matter how hard I try, I just can't shake the inevitable boredom and disinterest I end up feeling for the characters. Which is really strange considering how I've found way shittier novels to at least be readable as the literary equivalent of junk food.

The biggest problem I have... more>> with this novel is the MC, the way that he responds to the situations he encounters is just so bizarre that it breaks my suspension of disbelief. The biggest contradiction is in his outlook. The MC is portrayed, essentially, as a man with superhuman will, committed to a cause which he plans to give his life for in the end. Why then, does he spend 99% of his time wallowing in self pity?

I would understand if it was something that happened from time to time during slow moments in the story, but no, it's like it's literally the only emotion he's capable of feeling, regardless of the situation. He never feels angry, happy, empty, h**ny, proud, etc., he's like a robot programmed to feel sad and spout sad lines 24/7. Realistically speaking, if someone was actually subjected to this, given the MC's skill at detaching himself from feelings of hunger and pain, he would also become extremely jaded and emotionally detached as well, but that is not how the MC is portrayed. In particular he has absolutely zero issues with empathy.

The heroines are the same way, except instead of self pity they are programmed to feel remorse and pity for the MC. The side characters don't even receive this minimal level of attention, most of them are so one dimensional it's funny, like "the pe*verted aristocrat", "the greedy pope" or the author's favorite "the bystanders too scared to act". <<less

Very nice. I'm not sure why I loke this so much. But frankly it's just enjoyable and the drama it has doesn't feel to cheesy. And the characters are interesting with their own personalities and motivations

(Edit: review may seem aggressive rather why dont I read ahead ? but the chps constantly point out how tragic the MC is and his villain cover very early is blown up just for sake of talking more about MC being tragic welp. This novel isnt masterpiece but its insanely copyright protected, impossible to get even mtl of this than other masterpiece korean novels lol. Sorry but story is EMO but copyright protected even on discord mtl really... seen better stories with less copyright protection, really I had to... more>> try so hard to get ahead chapters, the trouble wasnt worth at all)

Chp 1 to 10 : 4*

Chp 11 to 16: 1*

Alright a 2* review in sea of high stars what happened ?

The hard built plot got thrown away. I wont spoil this and stretch, it got thrown away. Yes that "I have to be secretly villain". (may change if author decides revert with BS)

The author when started first designing this story he started with one girl whos this first appearing 2 IQ female i.e. biased main heroine since author created this one first others arent main heroines at all nah nada just this one

The MC went through bad hard times but he succeded, regressed. So how could such person not have strong mentality ? 1) MC is emotional 24/7, 2) he vomits blood 24/7 (so much for hero body), 3) MC breaks down cause of.... situation which is easiest compared to hell of prev life. Ofc biased heroine numbha wan has to find this super villain MC doing above 3.

You are telling me that such cunning mastermind person that played all of the world cant play one heroine ? Sorry nvm only one biased heroine.

Wish the MC was strong minded-confident-Calculative planner like MC of Despite being pursued as villain THMS (long name) or Little tyrant doesnt wanna meet bad end.

Here something more not story spoiler, dont worry

Spoiler

The MC has strongest mental strength (haha) than anyone except demon king. Cant hypnotise/control MC mind or use magic on MC mind.

But the only main heroine just pulls out a spell that can go in MC which even demon king cant access. Ofc theres 5 paragraph long convincing given so its alright. This only one maingirl then also ens*aves this MCs inner guardian who dumps all of the plot of the novel to her so that she becomes the only heroine who stands heroically with MC secretly while others try to kill him.

I dislike this one enough that I actually went out of my way to finally make an account just so I could complain about it.

Pros: The writing and TL is solid.

Cons: Everything else. The core premise of the story completely falls apart and makes no sense, so unfortunately not being unreadable MTL cannot save it.

It has been a long time since I've gotten this annoyed about the plot of a story.

Spoiler

The MC has to pretend to be super evil and destroy the world so he can travel back and do it again, but with a system providing help this time around to go for the hidden good end, based on the prophecy of his isekai grandpa a thousand years ago. So I was ready to get into shenanigans based on the MC needing to pretend to be evil to power up his system while outplaying the heroines who also returned with him.

Unfortunately, the story is just irredeemably bad. The whole, entire premise of the story, pretending to evil so he can go back in time to have a system (which is powered up by pretending to be evil) to help him kill the demon king completely falls apart so quickly. Why? It's because not only does the MC not need the system at all in order to kill the Demon King, the system is actively making everything worse for the MC.

The MC killed the demon king on his own at the end of the first run. A sacrifice was made to 'awaken' the hero's gear, and combined with his own skill and power he just walked up and one shot the demon king. And when he traveled back, he kept all the skill and all the power from before. The demon king is a cheat character that can literally only be defeated with the hero gear, so the MC is playing along with the system in order to 'awaken' it in order to stand a chance........... except, he was able to do it last time? Like yeah, needing to

Spoiler

to make it work is rough and all, but it was still a path to doing so. He didn't need the system in order to do it at all. So the biggest reason why it worth having a system really isn't even necessary in the first place.

So then, what other benefits might the system offer to possibly help out, you may ask? The answer is nothing. Not a single thing. I've read up to chapter 86 and there has not been a single instance in the entire story so far where the system benefitted him. What's that? He used a consumable system item to cheat death when the heroines killed him? The only reason why the heroines wanted to kill him in the first place, and traveled back in time to be able to do so, was because he was chasing after that system. He wouldn't have been in those situations in the first place if he didn't destroy the world to get the system, and these cheat deaths were only ever used to protect himself from surprise attacks from the heroines, not even accomplishing any of the hero's goals.

So, the system is useless. Annoying to base the whole story around chasing after it, but maybe it's possible to move on past that. Except no, it isn't. Because the system isn't just useless, it is also actively detrimental.

Because if anyone finds out he isn't really 'evil', the MC gets punished. Punished how? Surely not something super dumb that cripples him and threatens to remove his agency as a character, right? Right????

Every time he gets found out, the MC gets his remaining lifeforce/lifespan cut in half. Annoying, right? Well, as long as he lives long enough to kill the demon king, how long he can live after that doesn't matter, right? Wrong. The MC started the second run with ~10 years of life remaining. Two 'stacks' later, and he has 2 years of life left, which may or may not last long enough to get the job done. Apparently, he gets even more in later chapters, so I have no idea how this man is supposed to stay alive. Also, the MC basically powers his skills and attacks and magic through his lifeforce, which has been attacked by the system, so right now he is a cripple of a glass cannon who can do one single attack before he is 100% out of gas and is internally praying that no one sees through his bluff since he can no longer defend himself. He is literally crippled; he spends most chapters coughing up blood and has been defeated by a single punch from a little girl. Why not just get healed you may ask, after all, healing seems to primarily involve life force transferring in this story? It doesn't work. No explanation given. Just, the two times healing as been attempted so far on him in the story, 'it does not work'. This man's condition is more or less permanently 'fatally wounded' or 'critical condition' ever since the first few chapters and it's insane. I am not joking when I am calling him a cripple.

So, this is the core of my extreme dislike for the novel: the MC is going through ridiculous lengths and incurring horrific, permanent punishments to deal with a system that has not helped him at all in any capacity, and doesn't seem likely to do so in the future. All for a reward which he does not need the system to obtain. I just cannot stand it. It makes no sense to me why the core premise of the entire story is like this. Why is he working so hard for the system? He doesn't need it at all. He already was capable of killing the demon king without it! Yes, there are many other societal reasons why the empire will fall even without the demon king that the story likes to talk about, but the system wont fix any of that. Literally the only thing the system even pretends to do is help with killing the demon king, and the MC does not need its help in order to do that.

Hello Guys, this is my first time doing a review and the English is not my native languaje so I do not know if I will be able to explain my point but I like so much this work that I had thought I had to do it because by far this is one of the most amazing light novel that I have ever read.

First of all the Story:

The story is about Frey Raon Starlight who is trying to save the world but to do this he had to destroyed... more>> it once to unlock a good ending but because for some reasons the Heroines who witnessed and suffered everything that he did are trying to kill him. Now, every chapter has a great pace and left you so eager to read more, it does not get stuck in anything, if there is no action there will be information added to show us more about the situation.

The Characters

Frey has so many good qualities: Proactive (something really important in a MC to move the plot) , ruthless (I hate so much those naive MC with their s*upid morals about no killing when the situation ask for it), kind, selfless but more important not OVERPOWER, You will see frey going through hardships and solving them using his brain.

The Heroines

Now, All heroines have distintic personalities and traits. Kania (the butler), Clana (the princess) Serena (the fiance), Irina (the archmage) and ferloche (the saintess). Something that makes me complain so much about the most harem works is about how the girls fall in love with the MC so fast because the MC is strong, is handsome and in most cases the MC doing nothing to deserve it, this is not the case. Each one of the heroines has a background with the MC, each one of them hate him for what he did and will love him when they discover the true. <<less

I get now why people like it. Despite the ridiculousness of the plot at first, there's some deeply emotional moments that make you empathize with the protagonist and the rest of the characters. Unfortunately, the main drive of this novel is angst. It takes precedence before the plot, before character development and before any sort of characterization. The main goal of the novel will always be to make you feel like you're watching an angsty teen drama and I don't think it needed to do that tbh.

I'd say it's pretty... more>> well written, but it still feels very much like a light novel. I don't feel it's a 10/10 literary masterpiece.

Nitpicky rant:

Spoiler

feels super contrived how the MC is nastier and nastier for the sake of angst but you have to counterbalance it by making the audience feel bad so you beat him down again and again, fatal wound after fatal wound, oh and also he's totally selfless huh don't you feel bad for him???

At first I really enjoyed this novel.

Narrative can be annoying and there are other problems too but I read enough bad novels to simply not mind these kind of things, I can understand if you don't want to read this story because of that.

But the most important flaws in this novels was in chapter 18 which is latest translated chapter at the time of writing this review.

At first it was something that bothered me and I couldn't exactly pinpoint what it was but after reading chapter 18 it becomes clear... more>> to me, MC is like a chameleon, but instead of changing his color he change his personality randomly because of author whim, now if it was once or twice I wouldn't mind but MC's personality change multiple times per chapter.

If you look for a good character development just ignore this novel. <<less

There has never been a novel that left a deep impression on me based off of first 20 Chapters. Especially chapter 10 and 15 which literally gives u goosebumps Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and I can respect that even I don't agree with it.. But I have noticed that the lower star reviews are just Borderline outing themselves as dumbass haters of the genre itself who can't even write a constructive review MC is a self sacrificial person who has suffered a lot in previous timeline. He... more>> clenched his teeth and did what needs to be done. The reviewer below claiming that the first narrative is equivalent of MC showing is just ret*rded. 1st person narrative is basically monologue how many times in our lives have we faced a difficult situation had no choice to bottle it within ourselves. Them claiming he is showing off makes no sense is he showing off to himself? C'mon get a grip ffs. They want your generic stoic MC who get suddenly transmigrated to fantasy world from modern world and miraculously turns into ruthless robots. The Main heroines are extremely well fleshed out and the characters feel alive. I won't go into details since the other peeps have done a way better job than me. But you will actually feel something reading this novel instead of just skimming through the novel like we most usually do we wanna concentrate on each and every line. The plot is well thought out although there are some writing flaws but I heard author produced 2 chapters a day without even an editor assigned but the phenomenal Translation quality is just on another level. Customised system prompts and highlighting the monlogues leaves u with nothing but brimming with emotions.

On their discord I heard they even gonna commission fan artist to illustrate some of the scenes in the novel. Even reading it on the source wiol give u nowhere near enough satisfaction. Whatever they're earning they're reinvesting it to improve the immersion. Sadly I still don't see this novel becoming popular as even if the release rate is increased lately cause due to the length of the chapters averaging 3.5-4k words. TL probably can't dish out more than 3 chaps a week, and Nu readers judge based on the quantity, not to mention the haters of the genre and considering the tastes of the average reading audience on NU. So eventually they will run out of funds or just feel like it's worth the time and effort till its dropped. <<less

First of all, whichever mod locked the genre list is greatly abusing their power on this page. It's a smut, everyone. Read the tags as well.

Second of all, this is ultimately what a harem smut webnovel really ends up being. The first hundred or so chapters are about the title: main heroines trying to kill the main character due to various reasons. However, that title really should be called "Main Heroines try to kill me but eventually become a part of my harem anyway."

To be honest, I didn't think the... more>> heroine characters were all that bad. They all had their personalities and had different ways of coping and dealing with situations. Unlike other harem novels, you could say that they had a bit more going for them. That being said, once the heroines become a mere ornament to the MC and their only defining traits being "lovestruck idiot" to the MC and nothing else, and their entire existence is dependent on the main character, any charm the novel has goes away. After all, when so-called geniuses or stubborn personalities end up just competing to take the MC's v*rginity, they all kind of blend into each other anyways.

Also, if the fact that the only male character in the novel that is named and relevant is our main character, you know the kind of cringe you're getting yourself into. Additionally, and not going into detail because of massive spoilers, but essentially every female in the novel just wants to have s*x with Frey or is madly in love with him at some point in the story. Villians, people who envy or hate Frey, I mean the entire novel is warped around women loving Frey and nothing much else.

It's ultimately a constraint of the genre. I mean, I do get it. The heroines have very good reasons to like the MC. It's not just "he was kind and protected them one time" and they fell in love. I would go into spoilers if I mention more, but "good reasons" doesn't really translate to good writing. All of the problems I mentioned before still exist, and yeah... nothing much else to say. There's like at least 15-20 women that all love Frey. How could they possibly be unique? If there's a harem novel where the women in the story don't end up being brainwashed and lovestruck idiots that completely forsake their original personality where their only priority is to please the MC let me know, because it probably doesn't exist. <<less

This novel is quite amazing to be honest. Only few novels out there can get your attention and make you read hundreds of chapters even though the main focus of this novel is tragedy which attracts only a few people because of how it would affect the reader afterwards.

Story is set in a fantasy world where our MC, Frey needed to do evil deeds to obtain the system so that he could save the world according to the prophecy provided by his ancestor. After he regressed and obtained the system,... more>> he got a warning that the 5 main heroines have also awakened their memories of the previous timeline and so the story starts.

Every chapter will make you cheer for Frey as he tries to do everything he can to save the world along with the challenges that he has to faced.A lot of plot twists will also emerged so try not to be mind blown every time you encountered one.

For the heroines, each one is unique and not just some girls to be collected by the MC. Each has their own motivations, feelings, and drive making them feel more alive and fleshed out compared to other heroines out there.

It's easy to see why this novel is quite popular in South Korea since it has an interesting plot, great characters, some good twists here and there, etc.

All in all:

-captivating story

-good character development

-characters that you can identify with

-amazing plot twists

-great dialouges

10/10 highly recommended <<less

The top 2 reviewer has said it pretty well, but I have anger management issues, so I will become angy

Anyway, yeah, sympathy begging novel

I only came this far thanks to the plot. The author seems to have their storyboard down, and have the events planned ahead. The tensions are built up pretty well, and stakes rise reasonably. This was what set it apart from other novels. Top 1 reviewer mentioned its awards and ratings, and the story sure has its upsides.

But I am a hateful person, and therefore I will... more>> focus on the bad aspects.

Sympathy begging. That's my only impression of this novel now. My dude quintupled on the blood vomit and the lifespan cut and the guilt trip. The MC will not be the MC without these so-called "punishments". At this point I'm not sure if bro produces 30 liters of blood everyday and has a life expectancy of 2000 years because these sure as hell gets thrown around a lot. Then there's the girls' reaction. Oh my god it's annoying. I think this will be the deal breaker. If you can tolerate 70% of the story being the girls and other characters secretly planning to kill bro, finding out bro is actually a saint, crying and feeling guilty, then trying to help then feeling helpless, then remembering past life then feeling helpless (2), then seeing the MC's resolution then feeling helpless (3), then this is probably for you. It's just so excessive, excessively excessive. Like, I get it, they feel guilty and want to help, and the MC is heroic and want to shoulder this alone. It's alright, writing more of those down won't change the theme. But nah drama is what drives the plot forward. Clearly, these issues also overflow into the "romance" part. The relationships now are built on guilt and helplessness, and honestly beside crying every time they see the MC, I'm not sure what other thing the heroines can do. It's pretty lame at this point.

Alright, rant over. If you like constant "guilt blue ball", or if you can at least get past the ever-present sobbing, then this novel can be pretty good. <<less

Extremely overrated. The prose is a pain to get through, to the point where you don't even know whos saying what due to the infuriating way they handle dialogue. The MC and supporting cast are nothing to write home about at best and at worst extremely annoying in the way they act/think regarding the MCs disposition.

Convenience is this novel's biggest flaw. What disgraceful romantic and unrealistic system is this? Does the protagonist need to be a villain, reset and be a hero to avoid the end of the world? How forcefully directed does something need to be to follow a path like this? Only an existentialist execution would compensate for such a bad plot.

I don't understand how this is rated highly. The system is ridiculous and extremely biased. It's so surreal that it would make perfect sense for the protagonist to realize and believe that... more>> he is part of a novel or anime made to entertain people and kill himself. I resent this novel.

I hate stories where bad things happen to good people for no reason over and over again, stories where the main character is basically being forced to act against his will often, depressing stories. This is all those things, yet I read this far because the writing was so d*** good.

I finally managed to drop it, but I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up picking it up again down the road to see if they get the happy ending they deserve.

I just started reading the novel yesterday, and honestly, I got to say, it's one of the best novels I have read so far The protagonist deserves respect for the things he does, and for various other reasons, I am not gonna tell you what he does.

But you should read the story.

The story is about a Guy who has regressed in time to Save the world after destroying it, but there is a twist, he isn't alone who regressed in time, as 5 other heroines also regress with him wishing... more>> to kill him for the things he did in his previous life. The MC is a kind and caring person but due to the situation the world and he is in, he is forced to do various evil stuff, it was very sad when I read the story, it also made me almost cry even though I am not an emotional person. The author did a splendid job, the various plot twist and the situation he created, he did very good job.

There were a few times when I thought there were some plot holes but after reading further I found out that they were shown in such a way that it looked like one. All the things shown in the story are taken into proper consideration and have been thought thoroughly by the author.

About the protagonist.

He is a kind and caring person, as ai said before.

But he is hard working and I'm at it too.

He risked his life so many times making him face death many times.

Unlike most of the stories where it feels like the MC will somehow survive, in this novel it felt various time that forgets about the world he is living him and want to die.

Even the author wants him dead, but he somehow survives the situation as we all know a protagonist obviously won't die, but still, it feels nice that he survives.

Anyways, I am sorry about the review, I am bad at it and I never tried writing one before.

I only did it once... and that was worse than this. you can check out other reviews.

I saw that there might be some reviews that might be criticizing the novel for some reason, but rather than housing on the review too much and dropping the novel please read it and judge it yourself.

You will surely like it.

As this novel seriously made me almost cry yesterday.

I can't wait to read the chapters ahead.

Oi translator, Please increase the number of chapters released.

I don't mind if you increase it even by 1 chapter.

Don't mind me please, just being a bit greedy as I really like this novel.

It has already been added to the top 3 novels I have read so far. <<less

This novel is really interesting to read. Each character shows development instead of the normal novel style. The heroines actually have brains and personalities and don't just jump the bandwagon. Read all of it in one night if that gives you any indication of how easy it is to be absorbed into it.
