When Su Yaya awakened, she found herself in a novel world as the CEO’s Substitute Wife–-a mere cannon fodder. Knowing that divorce and a tragic ending was awaiting her once her look-alike, the President’s first love returns, Su Yaya only trusted one thing: Money.

She curried favor with her husband each day, saved up resources, and served him as a faithful wife. It was better to leave a good impression on him before separation so she could avoid her death flags.

The overbearing President was very satisfied with her and personally gave her his platinum card: “Take it and buy anything you’d like!” Su Yaya happily accepted. Of course, she would take advantage of his pampering before the female protagonist appears!

As the CEO unexpectedly falls deeper despite this transactional relationship, he never imagined that his wife would one day disappear from his side

I really enjoy this series. It's cute and light to read. The MC is trying to fulfil her dreams and knows her future goals, and actually strives to achieve them. It's a bit slow-paced, so it keeps you wondering what will happen when the novel female lead comes back.

Reason I gave it 4 starts instead 5 is because the ML is just there. There is almost no development within his character. I mean he values the MC more but other than that I find him meh.

Su Yaya was your typical everyday girl who was so dirt poor that she hoped for nothing in life except for, money. An unfortunate event led her to transmigrate inside a con man fodder's body, a character from a book she read. Knowing the fate of said character who shares the same name as hers, she decided to change the course. After all, money is more reliable than love. Without any intent, except of course for the alimony, she did her best to win her husband's heart in the hope... more>> that he may increase the sum of the alimony. *Lol* With those actions, she had tugged her husband's heart. She, who was once a substitute for his girlfriend, was now someone important to him.

What I like about this book is two things. One, the ML groveled and oh boy, there's so much of it. Two, both Su Yaya actually exchanged places and the writer decided to write a side story of the other Su Yaya. The reason was simple. In the true plot, Su Yaya was the villain who tried to separate ML and FL but failed and ended up in misery. In truth, she became like that after being 'pushed' again and again by both ML and FL. It wasn't fair on her and the writer had the insight to also give her justice in life and love.

I also like this intake on 'let's focus on cannon fodder instead of the lead' because I'm looking at villains in another light. Kind of like The su*cide Squad. <<less

Well, I get it how many reviewers gave this story a low rating. It honestly wasn't that great. There were so many cliche and overused plot that made this story wasn't something new. There were also several repetitive scenes that made this story a bit boring until the original FL came back from abroad, like:

Spoiler

Her routine was fixed almost everytime. At night, she fooled around with ML until she passed out then she cooked for ML in the morning and night. After that, they had s*x again until she fainted again.

MC also always met with scandal almost everytime she was on the job and it was always ML who cleaned up after her mess. The opposite males that she had the scandal with were either her former classmate, her colleague, her former neighbor, and even ML's half brother. And almost every man that she had a scandal with seemed to be infatuated with her at the first sight. Well, she was a Mary Sue indeed.

[collapse]

Aside from the plot, ML and MC weren't that likeable either so they couldn't save the story.

Spoiler

MC's character was actually quite realistic. She knew the original plot beforehand so she didn't have much expectations for her relationship with ML. She tried to curry favor with ML so he won't have a hard feeling for her when it's time for their divorce. She also tried to gain as much as she could so she could survive on her own without ML in the future. I don't think she acted like a prostitu** though because they were legally married anyway and ML and MC made it clear since the beginning that they only helped each other.

But I couldn't see MC falling for ML at all before their separation. Well, she indeed felt a bit heavy when she decided to leave ML but she could be cheerful again in no time. The author mentioned that sometimes, MC missed ML during the night but he/she didn't describe it much so it didn't leave much impression for me. I still think that the reason why MC accepted ML again was because she accidentally got pregnant, not because she loved ML.

ML was a pure sc*mbag. I didn't mean it when he was with the original MC. He said he loved MC but:

    • whenever he gave her something, he asked MC to trade it with s*x.
    • he didn't stop fu**ing her even when she begged him to stop until somehow she fainted from exhaustion.
    • he rap*d her when she wanted to leave him as per their agreement.
    • he never announced to the world that they're actually married until MC left him.

Well, at least ML changed to be a better person after his brief separation with MC. Aside from being a good husband, he was also a good father.

As for to the original MC, ML was actually quite nice to her during their marriage. But I still didn't like it when he slept with MC although he didn't love her. Also, when he divorced her, he didn't even give her the promised alimony so she had a hard time after their divorce.

[collapse]

The reason I gave this story 3

was because the author gave the original MC a closure and a happy ending, unlike other transmigration story where the original MC just disappeared or even died with resentment in their heart. <<less

It's fluffy. At some points it becomes too cheesy for me but it's not to the level of dropping it or despising it. I think that I would've liked it more if the FL was feeling conflicted early on. IMO, I just don't think that there's no way she would remain unmoved with all the physical and 'emotional'/'romantic' things they've done together. Although it did show that the FL felt scared and empty at the turning point but it took so much time. It would've been nicer (IMO) if the... more>> FL felt conflicted, heart flutters, sincere early on and not just the whole 'trying to please' and acting for straight 200+ chapters.

But it's still decent tho. <<less

Well what can I say, really into old school romance cliche, macho, domimating ML and sweet, gorgeous FL. Not bad if you are in that mood. Translation is good too.
