Ji Mian is bound by the system to play the role of a devoted male supporting character in various small worlds.

——

World One: Ji Mian is to play the role of a devoted younger male lead who admires protagonist.

To get closer to the protagonist, Ji Mian decides to establish a good relationship with his future brother-in-law—the protagonist’s younger brother.

Ji Mian and his future brother-in-law refer to each other as “brother” and follow each other around closely.

No one knows that he actually has grand ambitions—he wants to become the brother-in-law of the brother.

Everyone believes that Ji Mian is fiercely loyal to the brother and would face any danger for him.

The brother also “values” him; he not only took in the homeless Ji Mian but also provides him with food and shelter every month, and often shows him warm care as an employee. His only flaw is that he occasionally ruffles Ji Mian’s hair.

Then one day, the brother learns about Ji Mian’s “grand ambitions.”

With a smile at the corner of his lips and a cold look in his eyes, the older brother asks: “I heard you want to be my sister’s husband?”

Ji Mian: …I wouldn’t dare.

——

World Three: Ji Mian is a playboy who has a crush on the main character.

He persistently pursues the main character, expressing his feelings at both appropriate and inappropriate times.

Eventually, after completing a hundred pursuit tasks, Ji Mian happily takes a break.

To mourn his lost love, he pretends to buy two small bottles of alcohol and drowns his sorrows in drink, while his straight male roommate kindly stays by his side.

After several rounds of drinking, as his mind becomes hazy, Ji Mian feels someone gripping his hand, and he hears his roommate’s trembling voice next to him—

“Where am I lacking compared to him?”

——

World Four: Ji Mian is the obsessive brother who loves his stepbrother.

He diligently portrays the image of a pe*verted older brother who loves his younger brother deeply, facing disdain from others and cold treatment from his stepbrother. In the end, he is cleverly set up and seduced by his stepbrother, ultimately being sent to jail, shedding tears behind bars.

Ji Mian finally reaches a critical point in the story, nervously spending the night with his stepbrother, waiting for the police to come and arrest him.

The next morning, Ji Mian looks at the boy snuggling against his neck and ponders in confusion: Where are my tears behind bars?

——

World Five: Ji Mian is the arrogant second-generation wealthy young master.

The young master, a mere pawn has long had a crush on his idealized white moonlight. Unfortunately, this white moonlight goes abroad for medical treatment. To ease his longing, the young master threatens a good family boy to become a human figu**ne of his white moonlight, commonly known as a stand-in.

When the white moonlight protagonist returns to the country, the troublesome young master faces backlash from the protagonists who despise him, and years later, he is on the brink of bankruptcy.

The once pitiful stand-in turns the tables and becomes a well-known business tycoon.

The two meet again on a narrow path, and Ji Mian, frustrated, says: “Seeing me not doing well makes you feel proud, doesn’t it?”

The stand-in, who once despised him, silently hands him a watch that Ji Mian sold.

“Who cares about your charity!”

The stand-in lowers his eyes and replies, “…It’s not charity.”

The one begging for charity has always been me.

Finished the first two arcs. Both of the arcs are fairly light in plot. However, the characters have surprising depth for the length of the arcs. A very light and refreshing story.

Unfortunately, the translator website, starting around chapter 60, has a very aggressive problem with pop-ups. I’m not sure why as there aren’t any ads but I did not feel comfortable reading the rest of the chapters due to this problem. Couldn’t find a mtl so I would recommend stopping around chapter 58.

As the other review said, aggressive pop-up ads that attempts to redirect you after c60. Use a good adblock if you want to read on their (riceball07) site with less issues.

I suspect they are using chat gpt to auto translate for them and posting afterwards as there are a few clues pointing to that as you read.

The story seems pretty good so far 3 arcs in. It has some a handful of your average QT tropes and the cold-but-warm-only-to-MC ML to the sunshine MC. Not the deepest plot but it's... more>> good for casual reading.

Arc 1 does have themes of child abandonment/neglect and violence, but it's not explored too deeply. Also I found it unique how the ML was presented
Spoiler

he's called 'big brother' and has a friend who is very 'punk' and when they make it to the mls shop there are multiple men waitingfor their paychecks that friend had in cash. Very much giving off a underground gang or mafia ish feeling

but honestly that never developed and seemed to dissappear within a few chapters and ML turns
Spoiler

into a lower middle class income earner from his inherited wood carving shop and whole 2 buildings he owns?? Where only he seems to work and the punk friend from earlier helps with deliveries sometimes because he has a car

[collapse]

Arc 2 has the MC in a very ill body, no mention as to what overall illness he now has other than he coughs and can't do physical things. ML is kinda a bu*t at the start but quickly becomes attached to MC. Warning, this Arc made me physically tear up at a certain point.

Arc 3 college life- dorm mates.
Spoiler

MC finally clues in that ML is the same soul

Finished it. So good. Heartwarming. Especially the ending where we follow the ml.

I love that the MC didn't immediately realize who the ML was in the following worlds and didn't cheat/immediately fall into bed with them.

Interesting stories too. Most feel more real and down to earth than world hopping stories usually do.

One thing about QT danmei that I often think about is how nice would it be if the host/protagonist retains their memories from the previous life and how it will change things, this one is pretty spot on in portraying that.

The first arc really set a great introduction to the protagonist and I like how the romance progressed between him and the ML but it's the second arc that truly expands on how quick transmigration actually affects the protagonist in terms of psychological and emotional maturity. Ngl I cried reading... more>> the second arc because
Spoiler

the unrequited love from the ML and understanding how MC was still stuck in the past, unable to move on from his love for the ML in the first arc were portrayed as raw as it could be. They were stuck on this push and pull that ended up burdening each other that you reached the conclusion that love is painful.

Third arc delved more on the supposed couple story as opposed to the first and second that only gave us a glimpse of it, and tbh I don't really care about them... I'm more curious on the stuffs we eventually learnt about the world system and about MC himself.

With how the third arc end, I'm actually stuck on the dilemma of whether I want to drop it or not. If I do continue it, I'm definitely going to wait until the arc ends before picking it up.

Third arc ending:

Spoiler

Just my taste but I was a little irritated with how the story handled MC and ML on the end of third arc, you could read the unrest and insecurity from ML with his growing love, at the same time feeling that the MC wasn't honest enough in his love because at the end of the day, even though Xie Heng shared the same soul as Duan Zhuang, it's DZ that JM loved not XH. I don't like the imbalance and the lack of security here, though this might also be a prelude to something more in the next arc so I'm curious about it.

A sweet HE but really basic to me in general

The selling point is how MC always seems to break his deeply in love persona, it became a comedy and ML became jealous skit.

Must say for transmigration all the world is modern.. MC has went to high school university 3/4 times and has been rich besides the first world.. What's up with the non changing scripts. This was really disappointing in a way the roles never seem to switch up.

I guess the downside it was too repetitive, but it was short... more>> enough I can read through it without being annoyed by it.

The virtual world and real world concept makes no differences to me, virtually they are almost the same

I love MC for being such an angel though, bless him, hope he has many happy life to come <<less
