The image advertises a childcare novel with mercenaries but he's 5 years old for only volume 1, and then suddenly he's 12 years old in volume 2.

Like, yikes, the author skipped all of the primary "cute naive kid being cared for by crazy strong characters" years. 5 through about 8 is cute, 9-11 is pushing it (considering the way authors make these kids act like little adults from birth), 12 is practically a teenager and usually somehow less responsible and s*upider than when the character is 5 (in this case,... more>> accurate). What's more, there's at least one more mercenary we haven't even met, only mentioned, by v2c32, so the cuteness could've been stretched out a little.

PLUS he was supposedly pretty darn strong at age 5, but when it suddenly jumps to age 12 there's no way to gauge what that means since we don't see any outside perspective (i.e. Generically strong bad guys and/or friendly non-crazy strong people who have common sense and who are acknowledged as strong but who OP manages to defeat to the death or in a mock battle).

It's like the author wanted to write a "raised by crazy strong people and still considers himself weak even tho he could probably beat most (sane) adults" novel but didn't want to do any of the work - the world, character, power scale, or any other building. I read a lot of these "picked up from the gutter by ridiculously powerful adults, becomes wildly OP" stories and this one is pretty heckin' shallow and not worth your time. <<less
