Jiang Zhen crossed into ancient times and became the old bachelor eldest Jiang who was neglected by his whole family in Hexi Village.

He was born into a good family, but the eldest Jiang was busy all year and couldn’t even eat a full meal. His two younger brothers could marry a wife, but he was starved to death… Jiang Zhen felt it was unbearable.

You don’t want to feed me? OK, I will kill the chicken myself.

You don’t even give me a glimpse of food? It doesn’t matter, the door of the granary will be opened as soon as I kick it.

You want to tell me that I am unfilial? Ok, I will immediately take the knife to the village and slash people, and let the yamen officer catch all of us.

Jiang Zhen became a local tyrant in the village. He also saw the “ugly” ger who could not get married in the village.

Future father-in-law: “Jiang Zhen is always wandering around our house. Is he planning to rob our house?”

The future mother-in-law: “What to do? Jinge can’t beat him!”

Zhao Jinge’s face was hot… Dad, the wild rabbit that I brought back today is what he gave…

Like most of the other comments, I personally also feel very disdainful of Shen Anxiu's character development.

Because he is actually a very potential character, but for some reason the author actually develops his character very deviated.

Apart from that, for me there are actually no other problems.

This story is light and fun to read.

The story is about ML who is transmigrated into different world where he then meet MC (a ger). And then they begin their journey tobe a wealthy family thru their businesses & skills.

Chapter 1-100 its pretty good. The MC shyness was cute, the storylines are also nice.

Chapter 100-120 MC shyness becomes SO ANNOYING. The story itself after MC had his children, it also became predictable.

The story only has 178 chapters & even after 100 chapter the MC still didn't have confidence where ML always show how much he love him,... more>> it was so annoying. MC also has become strong but that's it, nothing more arrrrrggghhh. <<less

Mtled this

Level of mtl = easy to read

This story is sooo nice and satisfying to read.

... more>> I love the concept of mutual trust with each other. The pair really grew together thick and thin. From poor to riches. From simple farmers to become the founders of a new government and country, becoming the emperor and prime minister of said new country!

My heart just keeps on eating dog food when I read how they support each other. ML is so luckyyy where can you find a wonderful husband like MC? MC is equally lucky *sigh* where can you find such a supportive partner? They seriously complete each other. I cant help but be jealous!

Theres surprisingly a nice world building in this story, especially you can be aware that there are still larger countries around the story.

The MC is strong, but hes not like those other MCs with a golden finger or a large thick thigh to hold on. HE MAKES IT! What I mean by that is that he acknowledged his limitations and he would really make years of long term plans and preparations so he and his family wont be bullied in the future.

Hes a military man from modern times, I could understand where his brute force comes from and he is unable to recreate modern or close to modern technologies. But he looks for people and guides his ideas to create something similar. Which is quite impressive (and took some time to develop but thank you time skip, this wont be like some filler you see in other novels where its like X number of chapters on one topic)

All in all, its s good and satisfying, sometimes I wished there was more. But at the same time I like it that it knows when to close the story and not drag on

Spoiler

lol it actually dragged on 100 + years later in the future. As an extra chapter

ROUND 2 OF THEIR LOVELY LOVE LIFE THAT MAKES ME JELLY

Im actually very very very happy that the author did not forget about the original jiang zhen and he also had a happy ending. (Frikin cried and smiled when I read his story) god this is good karma. He deserves happiness. I AM HAPPY WHEN HE HAS HIS HAPPY ENDING (っ˘з (˘⌣˘)

Spoiler

The 2nd life of orig jiang zhen is actually the descendant of MC and ml

The orig jiang zhen went into the future and my god my heart when his anxiety about his previous life keeps him from being happy when he was born and he was diagnosed as an autistic. But thank god his family treasured him and loved him. Aaaaaaa

When he learned about his previous body doing amazing things in the past (basically MC being the mc) 2nd life jiang zhen decided to become better! He was still very reserved, but he was very smart so he was diagnosed with autism but the high IQ kind.

2nd life jiang zhen was able to find himself as who he was, especially when he found true love with a ger that sincerely loved him too.

I loved when their relationship became the famous " reverse Cinderella" because they thought 2nd life jiang zhen was poor and relied on ning qing when they were in highschool (his soon to be ger wife). 2nd life JZ just didnt want to spend money since he was like that in the past so everyone thought he was handsome but poor while NQ was quite a nouve rich but not so good with grades.

Who knew when JZ 's identity was revealed, he was actually a part of the royal family! XD

Anyways they lived a wonderful life together and im very happy that he also had his share of the happy ending

This novel is really good. I love the beginning when the MC and the ML are developing their relationship. Everything was so sweet and uncomplicated (aside from the MC's bi*chy family). There was also a very gradual progression to get the MC to become eventually successful. Like, the MC had to actually work for his money and every dollar counted in the beginning.

The ending also made sense. From the very beginning, the MC knew that the common people have it hard in this era and can be oppressed by anyone... more>> with money or power so he is working towards a way to keep both himself and his family safe. It was just very rushed. Like, there were a lot of time skips and then BAM! It's the ending.

Overall, the novel left a positive impression on me, but the ending was a little underwhelming. <<less

What's this? What's this? Another BL novel where the gong MC is pampering the shou (who is sensible and strong in his own right) and face-slaps anyone who wrongs him? Transmigration from modern to ancient world? Realistic, funny, FLUFFY, and AMAZING translation?! Yes, yes, yes, and YES! I couldn't help myself running to MTL this novel. The beginning is so sweet, and it is actually sweet until the end..... even if there are people that are crazy for the MC or ML they can't even make a dent on their relationship.... though in the beginning the ML did have a lack of self confidence, but he gradually grows (self confidence, social skills, wiseness, smartness), this is not a novel were the little shou keeps being protected under the gong's wings, the shou (ML) learns to fly alongside... more>> the gong

The drive for the story to move is actually something quite simple: MC thought that the world was too dangerous and too outrageous, so he wanted to protect his loved ones which led in to make money..... which he thought was = to power, but he was proven wrong and needed more power...

........ when you are nearing the end and think that MC is not a Gary Sue

since he didn't go to war, nor became a noble, nor made a revolt..... when the court wanted to go after him I was thinking "oh, he is going overseas and begging his business anew" and then! BANG!!

I've rated this 5 star, cuz why not?

At first, I only read this novel till the ML got pregnant and I dropped it cuz it was still ongoing and I didn't have any taste in pregnancy and all. But, recently I wanted to read some violent yet fluffy and long story so I remembered this again. It took me 3 days to finish this but it was all worth it. I'll definitely re-read this again.

The story starts with Jiang Zhen, a soldier being reincarnated into an abandoned and ab*sed son,... more>> Eldest Jiang in Hexi Village and was saved by a ger, Zhao Jinghe. That's how their story starts and it's so cute. The face-slapping is the best in this story. I've never read something like this lol. The face-slapping, fluff, romance, slice of life, flirtiness, farming life, poverty to richness to business to leading people in adventures to owning a country, naming it Republic of China and becoming Emperor and Prime Minister.

Giving everyone equal rights and teaching everyone for their own benefits as well as their's too. Becoming an example to their sub-ordinates and villagers and the whole country. Showing them to love their wife and not taking concubines, setting an example.

The whole power this holds onto me is great. I regret not reading this sooner.

The conflicts were the most hilarious and normal too. It happens in our society on daily basis.

And did I mention, This novel has the best FACE-SLAPPING ever! OMG! Anyway this novel has everything I'll ever need, so I'll def recommend this to everyone.

And you know what? Org Eldest Jiang also reincarnates to the Republic of China made by Jiang Zhen and Zhao Jinghe and finds his own happiness.

And Jiang Zhen and Zhao Jinghe has three children. The eldest is a daughter, later rules over Australia, second is a son, later rules America and last is a ger, later rules the Republic of China. I just regret not having many scenes of second son and third ger.

Lastly, Zhao Jinghe also reincarnates into the modern world and becomes the richest man just like in ancient times and looks for Jiang Zhen. And happily ever after!

Forever Jiang Zhen and Zhao Jinghe!

Long live Prime Minister and the Emperor of Republic of China!

See you again!!! <<less

I totally recommend reading this story.

It's a great story that knows when to end, leaving me completely satisfied. I enjoyed the entire journey. I like how it tried to be grounded, with the main character facing difficulties securing his children's lives and protecting them from war. Even though, in the end, everything is thrown out, and he manages to solve all his troubles in a unrealistic way. However, it's still more realistic than other novels where everything goes as the main character wants."

4 stars. I enjoyed the story and MC interaction with ML. The family drama was a headache for me. Too much ab*se of filial obedience was used by awful family made me skip parts. But reading his efforts to have a better life with a family he loves was worth bumping into the frustrations of his other bad experiences. His wife ML was so sweet and his passion for him was something I looked forward to reading. However, the later half became darker in storytelling. Politics, beliefs, human rights, etc... more>> was becoming depressingly too much but I guess that is the maturity of the story. <<less

I very rarely have read a Chinese webnovel where the main characters actually have setbacks that they have to fight their way through. There is no drama between the main couple and the story is quite well written. I liked the ending quite a lot as well and this novel was satisfying from beginning to end. I rarely rate anything five stars, but since I never had to throw my hands up in annoyance at how something was handled, I did for this one!

I gave this book an 4 instead of a 5 because I actually wanted to give it a 3.9 because although I like it a bit, they’re a fews things I really had trouble digesting. I’m glad the author let Zhao Jinge develop but personally I feel uncomfortable with self effacing characters and that was one thing that bother me with the buildup for ZJ. And it was clear to me that although it was well wrapped under the guise of caring Jian Zhen was in fact controlling and shaping... more>> Jinge to suit his aesthetic, I guess this author did it in a more humane and not too controversial way. But because of my real life experience I felt quite uncomfortable because it kept jumping at me as controlling and it ZJ was younger I would have even totally claimed it to be g*ooming. The other things that bother me was the blatant xenophobia and forced assimilation. Although the author dressed it up as improving the world and whatnot, all those chapter made me uncomfortable because it read like a colonizer trying to justify their stance. Once again this is a personal opinion based on real life experience trauma so much of this just jump at me and read that way. I respect the fact that many readers didn’t truly read that deeply into the all situation and just fluffily enjoyed that novel. Because at the end of the day it was a really cute and mostly sane ABO as we know how toxic most ABO are. So I will say that future readers should be aware that some parts of this story may rub you the wrong way. <<less

This is definitely a book where you have to ignore a lot of logic. People have mostly mentioned everything.

The swift rose to the top was unrealistic, yes, but way more realistic than many other get-rich-quick stories I have read. It was just plausible enough to ignore.

SAX was a shame. A complete and utter shame. He had such a nice introduction, but the moment he fell in infatuation with JZ, he crashed and burned.

Spoiler

the choice of r*pe vs other torture was not because he was pretty or ger etc, but because he cared.

[collapse]

Regardless, it was just the final touch on a character already destroyed by the author.

The racism and colonialism were sadly all too clear. The MC even acknowledged it, he just didn't care. It was effective, useful, convenient, he was going to do it. It was ugly, and if I hadn't enjoyed the book so much before, and known it was ending soon, I wouldn't have gritted my teeth and ignored it. Fortunately, I'm good at ignoring things and it was brief enough for me. If it had gone on even a bit more about it, or brought it up earlier, I might have dropped the novel, but what can you do.

Same with the emphasis on modernization (westernizing yourself before the west could do it, and then claiming that is not westernization because you came up with it). It was a bit of a fail. Some modern things are better, some aren't, some are a matter of taste. Why you got to empose your taste on everyone else?

One point no one mentioned was that the 'many years later' arc, while very gratifying, left me with my suspension of disbelief very strained. I may be a very pessimistic person, but values change over the years, families change, things don't remain in perpetual golden age. A more likely version of events would have been the future generations trying to overthrow the government rather than stay as puppets, the three 'sibling' governments falling out with each other after the years etc etc. Not a big deal, it was just an extra, no problem, it just happened to be a bit of a peeve. <<less

I'm very tempted to drop this novel.

Quality of writing, not translation, dropped around chapter 50: Author started padding boring, small events with about four too many sentences increasingly often to increase word count.

Characterization for ML is very limited and he seems to have very little agency.

I have a hard time believing that MC actually cares about ML but just really likes the way he looks and what he can do for MC. I want to know if they'll grow as a couple and ML's self esteem ever rises to a... more>> point where he doesn't just roll over for MC whenever because he's "ugly" and really worried about being left behind, but after 62 chapters and a wedding, I feel like a reader should have already gotten a sense of that, especially if they're expected to read 100+ more chapters.

What was also a disappointment to me was the fade-to-black or abruptly cut-out s*x scenes. I understand censorship is at play here, but if you can't even feature them, why include unpleasant off-screen references (ger ML describes soreness after wedding night as similar to diarrhea and that it hurt a little but wasn't too bad like, girl, you can have more than "not too bad") instead of focusing on other ways to show intimacy and sensuality?

Branching off of that, the MC in his previous life is established as being gay, but this has to be the straightest queer pairing I've ever seen: Sweet, demure, hardworking ger who's gorgeous but doesn't know it and is just thankful to be picked by the MC vs. Brash, boundary-stomping, emotionless (except for anger, of course!) MC.

I'd consider this novel average or a bit below average. Fine enough for a few hours of reading, but probably not worth sticking around for ~180 chapters, in my opinion. <<less

It's refreshing to have someone who the author acknowledges over the course of the story as only special bc of the circumstances.

Wow, that was..a lot xD

Honestly, the writing is not that great, a lot of time skipping or glossing over details here and there, and there are things I find illogical.. BUT for some reason, I find myself so engaged that I binged read it for the whole day.

but no, he goes from a farmer to a founder of a country lol. Don't get me wrong, there's a whole bunch of plot points before the MC get there (tho yeah, the author kind of glossed over some details, but it's not that dislikeable for me, just fast pace).

[collapse]

Overlooking the not so fleshed out things, I find the whole plot progression unique and interesting. And because it's kinda fast pace at the end, we were saved from the pain of neverending conflicts, heartburns, and blood-vomiting.

'Cause, let's be honest, if the author did not got lazy and decided to detailed every plot points step by step, we might be getting about 500 chapters or more xD.

What I also like from this novel, is it doesn't only revolve all the time around the main characters. It gave life to the people around them and their own story, and how these people contributed to the world and future the MC is building.

Spoiler

And I love that the author gave a 2nd chance to the original JZ to live a fulfilled and happy life. That poor guy is so pitiful, he deserves a good ending. Also, there are extras too about MC and ML in the modern world where MC originally came from!

[collapse]

Spoiler

I would also like to specially mention this scene:

JZ: *smiles* ZJ, we might become fugitives from now on.

ZJ: *looks at him solemnly and with trust* ok.

I dunno but that scene makes me go "Aww 🥺". Yes, ZJ was a very loyal and virtuous person, but it still reminded me of how much strong their feelings and companionship are towards each other. And, to think that JZ was originally an unambitious person but because he found a family that he wants to protect dearly, he gather more strength and climb up higher. I find that a lot of his thoughts were quite human, although, he wouldn't be able to make his plans possible if he didn't have the advantage of being a modern man and a veteran soldier. But I really admire his straightforward and honest thinking. He be like:

I'm so poor, this place is backwards and I want my wife to live a good life, what do I do?

Sell some things and probably go out to the sea.

Higher ups are bad people and this country is doomed to fail, what do I do?

Go to another island/continent and perhaps, establish a country with its own rules while I'm at it.

Lol

[collapse]

Oh, btw, I saw some other commenters who pointed out about the xenophobic vibes from this novel. Well, I'm not surprised. I find that chinese authors tend to have this kind of bias and patriotic view of their country that is clearly reflected in their writing. I might not completely agree, but I do understand and respected their views.

(If the place I come from is not a shithole of a country, I might develop patriotic feelings too lol) <<less

Towards the end I feel like the author is not pressing the brake very smoothly. Suddenly I'm reading the extra, whyyyyy
