Honestly, this is one of the best second chance stories on the site. The translator also did an excellent job. Neither of the leads are particularly romantic types as there has been too much pain in both of their lives. That being said, they don't necessarily struggle with that pain either, especially not the MC. She's out for revenge mainly because the people who have harmed her in her first life aren't letting go of her or her family. What I appreciated about Shen Miao is that she learned that... more>> she needn't be bullied into sacrificing herself like she was in her last life. It's not her job to save those that are unrelated to her, and yet she is not a completely abn unfeeling or unsympathetic person either.

Okay, the MC and the ML do come off a bit too powerful in comparison to other characters. There isn't a feeling of urgency in the hurdles they face until after they get married as that's a new life setting for Shen Miao. Instead of angsty cliffhangers, it's more like the reader look forward to the strategy that the MC and ML will use... and dang they are satisfying!

Honestly, if this is your first second chance novel, many others that seem similar will pale in comparison. <<less

I have read the raws and now completing the translation for some clarifications, But let me tell you! THIS IS AN AWESOME FIND!! I have never been so impressed of how the FL controls everything and she is so badass! I loved every single bit of it! This is totally a recommended novel!

Although the translation isn't good. There are a lot of grammatical errors but the hard work put into translating this is commendable.

The story at first seems like any other transmigration story inhale ever read but what really sets it apart is that the female is ordinary except for the knowledge of the future events but there are instances that even she couldn't predict because she had changed the future as soon as was reborn. The male lead isn't your regular smooth talker prince charming, but a ruthless character with high... more>> intelligence and devastating good looks, (description gets annoying after a while) is perfect for the FL. First time reviewing and so proud that its for this novel!

Honestly, I love revenge stories of unfair turn in lives of FLs, and this. Is. GOLD. Totally worth reading if you're looking for a bad**s FL and a total hunk of a ML. Revenge stories are nice. And I just love how she executed them all (double meaning intended).

I just love transmigration and reincarnation stories.

Without doubt, Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage is one of the best female readers targeted light novel I have ever read. After catching up to the translator ages ago like around chapter 60ish, I decided to read the novel on Chinese novel websites. Great read, very few novels managed to capture my heart to directly read from the raws. Not only that, I actually purchased the entire novel set to freely read over when I want to. Right now, even through I've completely finished reading the novel... more>> in Chinese I'm still keeping up with the translated chapter updates. It's a great light novel series so I don't remind rereading a couple of more times.

Although the translation is great, I do however recommend readers to go read the raws if possible. I noticed a few scenes are kind of lost in translation. The translator translates word for word for some scenes, so sometimes the implied meaning of the text would be difficult for those that don't know Chinese to interpret. As an example, in the arc of the Assassination of Prince Yu and Death of Shen Qing

there was a scene of Shen Miao telling the unfortunate fate the Chen twin sisters to get Chen family's assistance in the assassination. The lines "Afterwards Prince Yu gave the older sister to his subordinates and was tortured and beaten to death. The younger sister was insulted during the escape journey and was blinded in one eye, " were especially ones I remembered. Just as a note the word "insulted" a much censored version of sexually harassed or r*ped in the Chinese language. Therefore the Chen younger sister wasn't "insulted" but rather she was r*ped and harassed throughout her escape.

I just wanted to point this out since, when I read the translated chapter 83 I saw a lot of comments saying that the fate of the Chen twin sisters wasn't that bad. I'm pretty sure you guys can probably find some other lines that seem a bit inconsistent if you guys reread the novel a bit. But other than the slight lost in translation, everything is quite good. I especially like the extra chapters. Particularly the short love story of

This novel was a wonderful read, from the start till the end. The novel had a lot of intriguing chapters, and the romance was slow, but wonderful.

I was glad there weren’t any big hurdles in the midst of their romance. I’m not the type of person who likes angst/heartbreak, so I was really glad that there weren’t any prominent love rivals. I was feeling a bit sad, though, reading their “Cold War” scenes. I’m glad Mei Furen, and the ex- husband, got what they deserved in the end. Overall, my favorite moment was when Shen Miao woke up from her coma after giving birth, and laughed. Would recommend this novel 100/10!

Probably the best CN novel on this site (at least from all that I've read until now).

We have a nice female MC that has a proper personality, is neither OP nor a complete idiot, she rather has a cunning mind and solves all of her problems by intelligent scheming. While setting is absolutely boring, since we have seen this many, many times (in CN novels), it's used very well and the fact that she is living that period of her life a second time is used in a proper way.... more>> I general most of the characters feel realistic, though a lot of her opponents/enemies are really one-dimensional and even a sheet of paper has sometimes more depth, though that's not the case for all of them. But the female enemies are really flat, no denying on that part.

As said before, the way the MC is solving her problems is very well done, but there are some problematic areas: The male lead is extremely boring, until now he hasn't changed from the very beginning on aside from the fact that he has started to like the MC, which is kind of understandable, but could have been written better. I guess the male lead is the absolute stereotype of the ideal CN-male-MC, cold, ruthless, capable, intelligent, strong, very, very (very...) beautiful and he only loves the MC. Basically a very unrealistic character that might be as well part of a self-insert wish-fulfillment story and every time the author is describing him, some new description of his ridiculous beauty is pulled from the ass. By now I just skip them completely.

The romance is also rather weak and boring, I haven't seen much development though there is some going on the side lines, but more could be expected.

Overall a great novel with quite a few flaws, but I guess that 4 stars are justifiable, otherwise all CN novels will be rated by me with 2 stars or worse and considering the difference in quality this is a fitting score. <<less

Currently the best chinese novel I have read. Best plotline and story flow with the rebirth concept.

it doesnt lack sentimental & feelings it supposed to have when MC previous past was reminisced. Bringing up the past made MC cruel and indifferent behaviour understandable.

for a chinese novel, this is not draggy at all. Considering that the plot has developed well and the characters are well defined within 100 chapters.

I like how dedicated the MC is to correct her mistakes and wrongs toward her family. The writer did well in describing her... more>> suffering, pained, guilt in her previous life due to her selfishness and idiocy. It can always make sad, thinking that her family now; father mother and brother was supposedly killed during her previous life. Her family is sooooo loving and caring and protective and so simple minded people that you cant help but wish them the best ending ever and nothing bad would ever happen to them. I hope the writer give them justice and not kill themmmm for whatever reason as I would definitely cry if MC family died.

and there is the male lead. ?? I hope he can slowly melt our MC and give her love that she deserved to have. The male lead is a blessing to the female lead. I like how he being subtle on his actions towards her but still do not deny his heart.

this novel is VERY similar to Princess Weiyang to me. But this one tops the former because Shen Miao seems to be a lot stronger and domineering as a female lead. She does behaved like an empress would. <<less

This cnovel of this genre is currently the best of all I have read thus far. The plot is so intriguing and you just can't tell what is round the corner. It is so different from those female protagonist novels. Shen Miao is smart, independent and far sighted. I can't wait for the next posting. Kudos to the author and the translator.

Mondox must be crazy to drop this novel. I definitely won't.

It is my favorite favorite of the novels I have read here ever. Yes, no. 1, top 1, bestest, most outstanding. Because of the calculative, rational and calm thinking, being adaptive to changing people and situations, making use of the previous life's knowledge to the max, killing people with words and actual swords, it lacks nothing in my opinion.

My only regret is that I didn't discover this when translations have ended, because of the long long wait after each cliffys </3

This is currently my number one favourite novel but f there was.5 ratings I would have given it 4.5 which will be explained later on and it has nothing to do with the plot or characters!

The story is based on MC revenge and what I love about her is that are revenge and schemes are vicious and savage BUT very satisfying to read. As it does annoy me with other novels when the MC becomes kind hearted and does not take revenge or the revenge is not satisfying even though... more>> the people that schemed against MCs may have been really sickening and horrible to MC. Therefore this is one reason why I love the MC in this novel, I also love the fact she takes no nonsense from anyone and does whatever it takes to protect her family and making it clear she does not like the other related family household.

The villians obviously are not likeable and annoying but I like that not all villians are s*upid like some other novels. Even though the little girls that try to mock the MC are annoying but the MC always has a comeback which makes it satisfying to read. Apart from villians all characters are likeable, especially the MC and her family they are so adorable! This is also one of the only stories in this genre where MC has a protective and loving family. Her little friend Feng An is also likeable.

Ok so the reason why I would give it 4.5 is because of the ML not because I dislike him (in my opinion he is likeable and amazing match for the MC) but because of the author's need to always write a paragraph of his handsome and beautiful features and face every single time he appears. I GET IT HE IS HANDSOME AND BEAUTIFUL BUT there is no need to always provide a long paragraph for it. This leads me to say story the author is very very descriptive at times near the climax of a plot which does drag a bit but I guess that is to increase anticipation in what will happen. This is my type of novel, I love revenge novels and I admit, I've read many disappointing ones that had a promising start. Fortunately, this one did not disappoint. Our MC can exact her plan well, she's ruthless and I really love the dialogues. Not to mention her interaction with the ML.

Never disappointed since the first time read this novel.

Great Plot and storyline, amazing character.

MC is the one that the best ever, because the s*upidity in the past life give a harsh lesson for make the way that she's now. Someone that really have strong mind but not overpowered so that we can still feel humanity and life from this novel and the character.

There's so many novel but this is keeping give you the best feeling ever.

Really recommended this one.

At the outset: theres no OP-ness, no cheats, no band of male leads falling for her. Its her smarts and a slooow burn. We have the regular family villains as appetizers and the stakes get higher as we progress. Thankfully we don't have many of those white lotus characters, fairies and what not. You can see why each of the villains/circumstances are challenging. The villains are reasonably smart but they do lack dimension.

What I really like about Shen Miao is that she is measured but ruthless. Other novels have the same villains that keep cropping up like c*ckroaches, hating for no solid reason. But when SM goes for the kill, its game over.. So I was very surprised at first. Our Empress was a s*upid fool in 'love' in her last life and had to learn things the hard way. In this life, she simply exudes majesty in everything she does. The things she managed to accomplish were without any outside help (her initial targets at least). She's just a girl (with a lousy reputation) without any power to speak of. The schemes she plays out are well planned and oh so completely satisfying. As badass as it gets.

I don't think that the romance is non-existent at all. In books like DWFGF, I failed to see why the ML likes the MC so much. Here, initially, XJX comes off as a carefree, flirty jerk but he sort of grows on you. Though he's got his own agenda, you can tell he cares for SM. He doesn't fall immediately.. It's slow and steady but you can feel the intensity ramp up. You know exactly why he got interested. So the romance is not cotton candy sweet but quite epic all things considered. The wedding bit is actually so sweet. A great power couple. All things said, he did make many things easier for her once he got involved.

Also the side characters like the Su brothers, Shen Miao's cousin brother are so loveable and they grow on you. Extra points for female characters that actually like the MC, Tan and An Ning. I found myself completely supporting their love lines. I also liked Pei Lang's development a lot.

It's one my favorite novel of all the time what I love the most in the novel is absolutely the MC shen miao she's very intelligent and cunning love her, Everytime her opponents sets a trap plotted against her but instead they fall on there own trap like the saying goes " If you dig a grave for others, you might fall into it yourself " But in this novel shen miao from the dark shadow push them into there own grave, she solve her problems like a chess game... more>> she set a trap in it and no one who hurt her in her previous life can get away with it not a single person, there's truly nothing I can describe this novel just one word best of the best, love our empress shen miao you stole my heart girl!!!

This novel is one of best revenge and rebirth. I like how intelligent and cunning MC is. She did best to protected her family from step family that wanted MC family dead. I like how MC scheming them back. This novel has satisfying revenge. I enjoying reading this kind of good novel.

Absolutely love it 10/10. My top asian novel; seriously read it. It's an amazing novel and if you like The Princess Wei Yang then you'll definitely love this one especially since the pace is faster plus I find her more brutal than Wei Fang. Additionally she now has her family with her and loyal people she can trust so in terms of completing her vengeance she's like at 15%. The man ML has already been introduced and frankly he's great in terms that he doesn't... more>> see her as weak or idiotic there's definitely some good respect for her. Although the main's in this story are not exactly good people so don't expect any goodness cause they're all pretty viscous ☺ <<less

WOWOWOW!!!! This female is truly kickass. She literally rules over everyone and acts like it to without trying. She's a natural badass and I've never seen schemes like hers that are so intriguing and complex in a reincarnation novel. The translations and pacing of events is fantastic and you're always left in anticipation for the next chapter. Honestly I love this 100 times more than princess wei yang, not that princess wei yang is bad, but this story is just THAT BADASS!!!
