In the world of Isekai and Reincarnation stories, this story alone is the honored one

Whilst it is long do not be fooled because your patience will be rewarded with character growth, world building and human connections but if you think the main is perfect after reading the first couple tens of chapters then you lack perspective on the world, maybe you undervalue human connection. There is no harem per c785 and there won't be a harem because the author is gay for women. The author is not a hater, but... more>> a lover of life, I have spoken.

Whilst it lacks the romance part of the human experience per chapter c785 at least, it makes up for it with the other parts of the human experience, the author is gay for both women and men, they like living beings generally, which I like very much. The action is great in my imagination, the author builds good suspention but if you are bad at staying in the moment then this story might not be for you, it gets better the longer you read and it really picked up after 150 chapters or so for me.

There are many characters I like a lot in this story but Wrath and Merlin are my favorites. Woo, Merlin. Anyways the author does not believe that people are inherently evil which is very nice, it's refreshing, altough this is not clear unless you have a very keen eye, for the first couple arcs of the story that is. It's also a story where I can apply a lot of my own thoughts in relation to what happens and how characters think and whatnot.

Reading this story fills you with deterimination to care about others. But be warned, for it is long, c1016 and more to come. Cringe is weakness holding you back, love living beings forever always, cheers and have a good one

I wish this story was better, as it's just somehow super boring for reasons I can't pin down. Maybe it's because MC's path of growth is a straight f*cking line: do more work! Grow more! Become stronger through effort! Become stronger through deus-ex-system stat boosts precisely when you need them! The in-lore explanation for the system is actually decent though, it's not just a random thing but has a (malicious but s*upid) ego.

I think the story really suffers from the threat level rising precisely in tandem with MC's combat level.

The... more>> family elements are cute, but the fights aren't all that great and just like MC I don't get any catharsis from beating up children. His power set is also fascinatingly boring: regular weapons and an aura that can burn everything (and a duplicate frost one). Incredibly innovative 10/10 I really don't know why he's a regressor-posessor at all <<less

Mid or 2 stars. It's just unending reactions and praise for MC. MC is so monster like. A genius even greater than others.

"No way, he learned it so fast, so unexpected." - Some dude

We have a annoying companion that says he wants to kill MC but is used by author to give MC's more power.

47 chapters in, everything is just a repeat of something said or done earlier. We even had jokes involving characters mocking others for doing what they had done in the past. Ironic. Pros: Most of the characters aren't that bad, and the shifting POV keeps things more interesting. Cons: The premise of this story is not very original, and 50 chapters in, the plot is pretty much all a rather boring training arc. The main character is somewhat overpowered, and most confrontations or conflicts he gets into boil down to the same formula: Someone underestimates him; he defeats them spectacularly; everybody goes, "Ooo, what a genius." If you want a really good read, this isn't it. If you want something to pass... more>> the time, you might want to try it. <<less

As far as I've read, this novel is worth the reading but it's not as good as I thought.

The first chapters were interesting enough to make me want to read more and the writing style suits my tastes.

The main character is good, well written. Even if he's someone who's strong from the start thanks to his previous life as an assassin, he's still growing along the story. His growth is really fast, but it kinda ruins the novel.

Spoiler

Indeed, the story is less captivating because we expect an obvious end where he wins (without difficulties) and receives praise. It slowly gets boring.

In some novels, I wouldn' t mind an overpowered main character (I actually like it) because unforeseen events occur and allow us to immerse ourselves in the story.

Well, that remains to be seen since I'm only at the beginning.

[collapse]

It's still kinda interesting.

By the way, there's maybe a love interest but nevermind.

Spoiler

It's literally random but his name (Raon) make me think of Trsh of the count's family

Update : I would like to add one more star but I can't change :<

Now that it's no longer focusing on training and family matters, I'm kinda satisfied with the story.

Since Raon leaves Sieghart's territory to pass a test to become an official swordsman, I'm even more interested by the events that are happening outside, instead of something that start like "Oh no, Raon is going to fight (again) that guy (cousin, prince or whoever it is), I'm sure he will lose" to "what, Raon really won against him ?". I mean, I like this kind of reaction but it occured about 3-4 times in 60 chapters.

By the way, the fact that the MC is into gambling—

So far there's like 5 memorable characters but they all fall to a plot shithole of "wow MC so strong". Yeah I guess he is, transmigration helps but it was not enough for author. Novel keeps introducing plot armor bonuses like system, secret knowledge, "let's make bet for reward". It really is just boring trope of increasing strength without any suspense. So there's really no good aspects I can think off, characters if they have a line will constantly just brag how MC is so powerful. Every story development is... more>> just another excuse to reward MC. There's no real situation where he havent planed solution a while before, and even his assassin's past so lame transition just to mature mind and hiding skill. <<less

Pros:

- Funny to read if you turn your brain off

- Interesting mechanic of how you can imbue the sword techniques with abstract concepts.

... more>> - Characters have different personalities, and that allows them to be memorable.

Cons:

- Fomulaic. Every mission follows the same pattern. 1) Normal mission is completed, 2) then a big bad guy appears but gets defeated, 3) then a bigger one appears and everyone survives because somenone saves them or because MC talks his way out through acting. This pattern is matched in almost all if not all missions, which is exhausting. Every mission after they finish the basic premise you know someone stronger is going to come, and after they finish that you already know someone even stronger is going to come... it stops being fun after the 5th time.

- Nobody but the MC does something useful, even the ones stronger than him. Characters do get development, and some change their way of thinking, but the author always blocks their shine so they don't surpass the MC.

Spoiler

Examples of this:

- Glen is the most powerful person, but he never kills anyone, he just talks and threathens but never acts. And the time he did act, no one died, nothing got done.

- When Sheryl and Raon tried to save the saint, Sheryl which was a grandmaster and Raon which wasn't even a master... and as always Sheryl job was to block and Raon's job was to save and take the glory.

- Aris which is a trascendent and fought with Raon against Kaiba, got nothing done, her job was to block attacks and let Raon take the Glory.

- When Wrath incarnated through Raon, he didn't kill nor finished anything. Just saved Raon and healed the others. He fought and "shine" but the author didn't let him finish anyone so he doesn't outshine the MC.

This sadly creates a story were it doesn't matter how powerful an ally or enemy is. You know they are never going to kill or finish anyone or anything, because the job to finish or kill things is MC's job.

[collapse]

Conclusion

Power fantasy novel with a lot of plot armor and formulaic/repetitive development. Humor is also repetitive. Nonetheless, this is a webnovel, and even though it's frustrating that no character outside the MC will kill or finish things, it's entertaining which is the ultimate goal at the end of the day. <<less

I really like this novel even though I usually hate these types of op tropes where the MC never stops growing. But the action scenes are exciting enough to make you want to cheer on the MC and grow. I also like how theres no harem or any focus on romance beyond platonic and familial love.

I know many people seem to dislike this novel, but if you are looking for an exciting and mindnumbing read (in a good way) then I would definitely recommend this. Although its a little frustrating... more>> on how the side characters are constantly admiring and praising the MC, its still pretty enjoyable.

Thus, I recommend this only if you want something to be swept away in and just read for entertainment. The translation is amazing as well, and each chapter is pretty long so you won't finish this immediately (I say as I am close to finishing all the free released chapters). <<less

The only problem with this novel is the excessive praise for the MC, maxing out 3 chp in several different POV's... but that's a little less visible in chp 140-160 (where I'm currently) ; It can be very annoying because it's unnecessary filler, but I enjoyed it because I like this cliché. I think it's good. I mean I enjoyed it enough up to where I don't mind to rack my brain reading through mtl. Let's talk about the story first, I think we've seen a lot of novel starts with the motive of revenge. This one is also happen to be the same. What makes it different though, I don't feel that MC is too hellbent on his revenge. I've seen where many character in other novel starts with revenge and then choose to chase the revenge first and foremost, but... more>> our MC doesn't seem like that. It got to the point that I even forgot about what his first motive to get stronger.

I would say every arc in this novel is quite solid. I can get what the author trying to achieve through every arc. How our MC growing is also not rushed. Really, it's weak to strong but with understandable pace, not too slow that it makes me impatience, and not too fast to make me lost interest.

Our MC character, hmm quite likeable? I would say. He's not an a**hole, actually cares about his family, friends and comrades. Author try to potray him as a flawed character that can't understand human bonds, but I think the otherwise. He has that cheeky attitude, but not enough to make me giggle.

Besides him, I also quite like the other character but I still think they a need more in depth writing. For now I just think them as an ornamental flowers that nice to look at. All the interaction between MC and his friends, his teacher, or his family doesn't particularly stand out to me or left an impression.

About the power system and fight scene, well this novel is somehow quite thorough explaining it. It kinda make me bored a little while reading it, but still quite interesting.

The most thing that made continue to read this story is how the author progress the story from one arc to another doesn't seem rushed and it just perfectly falls in place. It makes me curious about what our MC will do next, and what will he achieve after this. It's that feeling, when you started it, you feel like you want a little more just bcs you're simply curious.

I would recommend this for you who like action and fantasy story with somehow still make sense pacing and development. Just read it first and you'll know if you like it or not

Edit :

I dropped it. The story progression is just not it. I'm getting bored with the prolonged action scenes, srsly it's just waaayyyy too many and too long. I'm hoping those hundreds of chapter can be used instead for the development of the side character or maybe the villains.

By now the story has turned into some cheap soap television drama which really is just s*upid. The way author just casually dropping bombs didn't impress anyone tbh. Still i'll give it a 2, bcs the first part of the novel is fantastic, it's just fall apart the further it goes on. <<less

I’ve never given a novel a 5-star rating before. Never. Even this one, to be honest, is more of a solid 4.5. But I’m giving it a 5 anyway because it’s absolutely worth reading.

Yes, it has its flaws. Some plotlines are repeated, and there are parts that feel a bit familiar. But despite that, it’s surprisingly engaging and genuinely entertaining.

One of the best things about this novel is the character growth over time. It’s handled really well. And the fact that there’s no harem or unnecessary romance is a huge... more>> plus for me.

Now, let’s talk about Wrath and Raon. Their antics are pure comedy gold. Sure, it gets a little repetitive sometimes, but I still laughed out loud more than once, especially whenever Wrath starts screaming like a maniac.

Is it on the level of Lord of the Mysteries or other legendary novels? Not quite. But it’s definitely a fun and addictive story that will keep you hooked.

I’ve read nearly 750 chapters and finally decided to take a break so more chapters can build up. But trust me, if you’re looking for a long-running novel that’s full of humor, great character development, and solid storytelling, this one’s worth your time. <<less

I really liked it at first, but soon—very soon—it became repetitive. Just 46 chapters into the story, and Raon had already reformed three arrogant young masters (probably more, surely more, just unnamed). In just 46 chapters, starting around chapter 10, everyone only ever talks about Raon. I'd really like to hear Glenn praise or secretly dote on his other grandsons or granddaughters with a smile on his face, but no...

Spoiler

- But Ou, ya know that Glenn is particularly loving of Raon because of what happened between him and his daughter Syliva, so he feel more guilt for neglecting her.

Me: isn't that a reason to be as loving of his other grandchildren as well? Didn't it all happen because he doted on his other children and neglected his daughter.

- But I'm sure he love them as well, surely.

Me: I didnt say he doesn't, but said he doesn't think of them at all, and seems only interested in Raon, only listening to Rimmer talking about Raon's progress.

- Well, you only read 46 chapter, he may start paying more attention to them as well.

Me: surely he will, including how Raon has made them into *better* versions of themselves.

- But this novel is about Raon, isn't it normal for his grandpa only think of him? He probably thinks of his other grandchildren behind the scene. It's a novel about Raon, centered around Raon, and only for Raon, so it's normal.

Me: fair enough. Then it simply not my cup of tea.

[collapse]

Everyone, from trainees to instructors to collateral line members or main family members, only discusses Raon's talent. Everyone seems to be thinking about Raon, if a random person appears, expect them to think of Raon in one way or another (if they don't, it mean they haven't met Raon yet). It's always Raon influencing people, Raon defeating people, Raon exceeding expectations, and Raon beating others into "better" versions of themselves.

I wonder if he'll ever meet a peer stronger and more talented than himself (mental age aside), someone he'll need years (not just days) to defeat. Probably not (though who knows, there is always a higher mountain). In case I haven't made myself clear, what I hate about this novel is its repetitiveness and the one-dimensional character behavior where everyone only thinks about the main character.

I really dislike this trope in particular. It's okay for characters to be influenced by the MC, to like MC, but for the MC to be the only reason you appear or think—just to make him seem stronger, shine brighter, or look nobler? I'd rather not have characters like that wasting my time.

I still have it 4 stars, just to be nice (cause I accidentally rated it when I wasnt planning to). <<less

Absolute gem. 5/5 Don't hesitate, just read.

Story : The story is about an assassin who was raised since childhood to be nothing more than a broken puppet, listening mindlessly to orders and trained in the most inhumane ways. By luck, he was able to break the brainwashing and regain some part of himself but was mu*dered by his "owner". Reborn as a baby focused on the revenge here is the story of Raon who is focus on his revenge while he regains his lost humanity and discovers meaning of family,... more>> feelings and bonds.

Story type : The story is relatively fast-paced with detail and easy-to-understand fights. You will find it easy to follow as to what is happening. Characters have simple names and are easy to remember. Less common characters always have reintroductions, so you won't need to remember names that much. Main characters have reintroductions too but less common. Which means you can come back to the story easily. Plenty of comedy and high-stakes moments. Plenty of different approaches to appearing problems, and you find yourself plenty of times surprised by either the situation that resulted out of the plot or with the way that plot was resolved.

Main character : Quite strong for his age due to previous experiences. Plenty of character development and his actions are actually smart to the point where I cant imagine getting thru things so well. Absolutely lovely thing to read.

Chapter length : about 20 minutes per chapter. Up until chapter 490 about 130 hours of fast speed reading. And about 211 hours of normal speed reading.

Translation : 5/5 Small mistakes here and there. Missing letter, repeated word. Found maybe 1 every 10 chapters or so. <<less

EDIT: Raising to 5/5. Partly because the issues listed below are not as prevalent anymore. And partly because the novel surprised me with something I did not quite expect: the humor really grew on me. It does a great job (at least from around chapter 200 onwards, before that it's kinda hit or miss) at mixing seriousness and humor.

ORIGINAL:

This novel has great points, but also really bad points.

Best point: I really like the MC growth. Not speaking of his power, speaking of his personality and mental growth. Actually feels like... more>> a broken soul learning how to be a proper human being.

Side characters are likable enough. There are some good jokes here and there. Chapters are long, and the writing style itself is good (dunno if it is thanks to translator or author, but anyway).

The core plot is interesting. World building is... ok, I guess.

Now, as for worst point, I would say it try too hard to be overdramatic. It reflects itself in many ways, but at this point the way author force plot point just to be more "epic" and "dramatic" is actively harming the story. To explain some of it, I have to put it in spoiler a bit. Avoiding actual spoiler as much as possible.

Spoiler
    • There are characters which are just extremely 1D even though there should be complicated. But they are 1D because they need to be almost a caricature of their stereotype. Example: MC's mother, the maids, Glenn. The issue is that the more time pass, the less interested I am in those characters, because the author is content to show us the same side again and again and never try to show us more of the character. They have one personality trait, and it must be pushed to the max in any and all scene they appear in.
    • "Oh no, a stronger enemy appeared!" It seems like any mission or outing the MC goes in can never go as expected. At least one or two plot twist with stronger enemy must appear, the last one being too strong for the MC to content with so either the enemy let him go for sh1t and giggle or someone comes to save him. Literally all arc so far has been like that, there have been no exception. The first mission was like that (Raptor). The second war like that (Blood demon). Habun is like that on repetition for the most part. The third one was like that (though this one is more reasonable than others). The fourth one is like that (Goat demon). The fifth one is like that (Axe King). And probably the next ones I have not read are like that too. Can't we have at least one mission where someone a whole realm above the expected enemy level doesn't come from literally nowhere and that the MC need to pray to plot armor to stay alive?
[collapse]

It's basically the vicious circle of s*upid webnovel "drama". Step 1 - Put the MC into a situation in which he should be able to manage. Step 2 - Give the enemy plot armor to make the MC into an unreasonably disadvantageous situation. Step 3 - Give the MC even more plot armor to win anyway.

A shame, really. I think the novel would be a lot better if it didn't rely on such tricks. <<less

Well, I guess you can say this is an average work, so instead of 3 stars it should be 2.5 out of 5 because there's nothing really outstanding about it.

A big issue is that the MC has a psychological problem with lacking emotions, so basically it's impossible to empathize with him as a reader. I mean, how many humans actually lack capacity for emotions? Those who do usually see a psychiatrist, so maybe this novel would appeal to them? But for relatively healthy readers, it's too difficult to understand the... more>> MC's viewpoint many times.

The most interesting character is the King of Essence, Wrath, and I was basically only reading the novel because of him. Wrath is really funny, and his arrogant but childish remarks never fail to make me laugh. But he's a side character, so I think it's a flaw in the author's writing that his side character who gets a few lines a chapter is reason that people want to keep reading.

Other than that, I agree with another reviewer who said that the mother Sylvia, her maid Helen, etc and the people from the annex are quite annoying. I mean, I'm a woman, and I have never once met a woman or girl who has such an annoying personality. It's true that some mothers are very loving to their children, and I'm even related to a few of them -- my sister, cousin, and mom are all like that. But the big difference between those real people and the fictional Sylvia is that real people who are overprotective and overly affectionate to their kids actually display some kinds of flaws. Like, real people get angry, are mean at times, do some unreasonable things, and make mistakes so that their children resent them. Children always love their parents if their parents are affectionate, but they also have a complicated mindset because their parents are never perfect and make mistakes that the kids resent them for! Such as, maybe your mom spanked you when she was angry and used too much force then later regretted it. Or maybe your mom embarrassed you in front of your crush, or maybe she can cook a few dishes well but everything else tastes like a version of the other dishes and you are forced to learn to cook yourself in order to taste something new... the problem with this author is that Sylvia is too perfect in her loving mannerisms, and her treatment of her son is without a flaw.

It's a little similar to the way that the MC is too OP, having both the golden finger cheat of rebirth and a system, which is basically too over the top because absolutely no one near his age is his opponent. I was never in a state of worry about the MC because I knew he could handle whatever danger came his way, which at first was not so bad but later was too boring.

Basically, this novel is just too predictable. It is a little enjoyable at first but then a lot of small things start adding up which are annoying, and finally I just wanted to either drop it or pick it up later when I have absolutely nothing else to read... so I am putting this book on my reading hiatus list for now. <<less
