After 100 years, I finally realized what genre this world was.

‘Wait, this was a Romance Fantasy simulation game?’

If that’s the case, the objective is simple: Make the game’s protagonist, ‘Fallen Noble Lady Merigold,’ the Empress.

The problem is…

“Please marry me.” – 1st Playthrough.

“I’ll start by burning down the world that killed you.” – 2nd Playthrough.

“I will become the richest person in the Empire. And then, I will make you mine too.” – 3rd Playthrough.

“From today onwards, I shall stand above the heavens.” – ?th Playthrough.

“Shut up and have my child!” – ??th Playthrough.

“You can’t escape.” – ???th Playthrough.

The protagonist has no interest in any man but me.

The description of this story is kind of misleading. Firstly because it makes this story sound a lot more over the top than it is. I mean it's a fantasy world timeloop premise but the character writing is surprisingly grounded and well done. The female lead isn't some cliche yandere who falls madly in love with the MC for no reason. I can't really go into detail without spoiling anything but her affection for him doesn't feel arbitrary or over the top (most of the time). It gets more intense... more>> as the regressions go on but it doesn't feel unnatural or anything. Also even though Marigold often lives very different lives in different loops, the author does an excellent job at making her feel like a single character.

As for the MC himself, it's true that he at one point he wants Marigold to marry into the royal family because he thinks it might let him escape the loop, but honestly he doesn't actually push for that very hard. Most of the time he just tries to make sure Marigold is safe and happy. If he can get her to meet one of the royal family he might do it, but he never really pressures her to marry them, mostly because he realizes that most of them totally suck.

Overall this is a great fantasy romance story with a well-written pair of leads and an interesting premise. <<less

Pros: The romance between the protagonist and the main lead is really sweet. The mechanics of the loop make it so that the MC remembers every loop while for most loops the female lead only gets a sort of “impression” from the past even as her path changes massively due to RNG.

It makes a sort of “everything, everywhere all at once” fated lovers romance where Maribel is a highly variable character between loops but her love for the protagonist becomes one of the few constants of her character. While the... more>> protagonist becomes a sort of eternal guardian angel.

I also think the large variation in the female MC between is the stories biggest differentiator from other loop stories. Every loop is basically a different short story set in the same setting. It creates a bunch of loosely intertwined love stories that have their own distinct arcs and resolutions. It makes the chapter to chapter reading very engaging.

Cons: The most damning thing about the story in my opinion is connected to its strength as a series of vignettes. Put simply the story doesn’t have many engaging long term plot elements.

This isn’t a steins;gate or a mother of learning, there is very little usage of time looping to try and tackle a large problem from different angles and uncover new pieces of information. This also isn’t a groundhog’s day, the MC doesn’t really have a huge transformative character arc. He’s a perfectly fine character, but time loop stories more so than almost any other type of story live and die by their main character being exceptional. Almost every other side character is incapable long term character development, as such the MC usually needs to carry the character writing. And the MC here is just not capable of that.

As such the story here is fun and comfortable, but the plot rarely does anything exceptional and the characters rarely show a profound depth. But it’s also a work with few divisive elements. I think almost everyone will enjoy it, but I think few people are going to be blown away by it. Regardless it’s consistently a fun read, I look forward to almost every new chapter. I can say that about very few stories on NU. <<less

If u like pure love read it. Very confusing premise at first though that and the way it was written confused me at first.

Basically MC transmigrated to a game where u have to raise the FL but every single run is very different. The fls personality changes, she might remmeber previous runs and she has different goals in each life and MC only has 10 years to get (what he thinks) the best possible ending for FL to end his regression.

Theyre very cute and in each of the arcs ending... more>> it shows you a little epilogue of what happened if the MC dies before the 10 years is up. <<less

This is a fun read if you enjoy fantasy romance with a bit of comedy and tragedy. The premise is our MC is thrown into an otome game made by his sister. His sister made a game she wanted to not one that made sense so there is always an RNG element to how scenarios play out. Just knowing how the flow of the game world is supposed to trigger doesn't mean it will. This leads to our MC trapped in a never ending loop until he meets the female... more>> MC the main protagonist of the game. Each time they meet in recurring timelines, due to the RNG nature, the female MC always has a new persona and starting point. Sometimes a poor girl in the capital, other times, a merchant tycoon, other times a war hero or a villain.

The story's goal is to get her to marry one of the princes and live happy ever after... but as you expect those RNG variables keep making the female MC only have eyes for our eternal MC regressor and comedy abound. <<less

Actually pretty good. The premise is that regressing a lot of times over the span of 100 years during one of his throwaway regressions he discovers what he's actually supposed to be doing and that the world he's been regressing in is based on a romance game by his sister.

The game made by his sister is about a girl who comes from a fallen Noble family trying to survive. In the original game she romances with one of the eight potential candidates (6 of them being princes) to be able... more>> to beat the game.

MCs goal is to basically have her romance with those potential candidates and to be able to return to his world. Of course after regressing so much he's op so every run after he encounters her for the first time is basically him babysitting her.

However there's a catch (of course this review is being currently written at chapter 20 so nothing crazy but spoiler warning)

Spoiler

she starts remembering more and more about her past lives with the MC. At first she only sees a brief description and a gallery in her memories but the more MC regresses and the more he interacts with her the more she remembers her past encounters with him

[collapse]

Honestly pretty good so far, I'd recommend trying it if you're into regression novels. Also so far it's more of a one sided love because he's still trying to get her with one of the princes but it only goes up from here. <<less

First, for readers wondering why the male lead (MC) raises the female lead (FL) to be with someone else.

The MC has already tried to be with the FL. In one timeline, they even married, yet the world still reset after ten years. Because of this, the MC believes the only way to escape the regression cycle is to ensure the FL ends up with the prince.

It's unclear how their first marriage went, but the MC mentions that the FL seemed to regret something. In the first regression, the FL always... more>> met a tragic end, forcing the reset. While the MC is the only one who initially remembers the resets, the FL eventually starts recalling her past lives as well and grows increasingly yandere.

It's important to note that the MC sees the FL as someone he must protect. In one timeline, he married another woman for political reasons, but his priority remained taking care of the FL. <<less

Best novel I've read in a while. Any criticisms I have are small (mainly that MC is a little slow when it comes to his own feelings considering his age and competence otherwise). But the pacing feels very natural, the MC feels well written and the FMC isn't just a damsel despite being very attached to MC.

First Major Arc Spoilers:

Spoiler

At first it was bothering me a bit how detached the MC is from the situation. He didn't seem bothered hearing the FMC suffered multiple "bad ends", and was looking like your typical Korean novel where the male lead is overly pragmatic. Was worried it was going to go in that direction of "Oh, she's going to misunderstand his odd actions (because he knows the future), and fall for him." that these novels love to do.

But as I was reading I realized I was being biased. Stepping back, of course he's going to be cold. He's lived a hundred years in a 10 year loop. And in that time he's tried living different lives and he's just bored now. He just wants to die. It'd be weird for a 100+ year old man to instantly fall head over heels for a young girl. And by the second run, he's already clearly developing more complex feelings for her. And it's really well done. It feels like a natural progression and while he's mentally much older, his feelings develop because he's now known her for 20 years, and 10 of those years closely.

And then comes the end of the first proper loop. And I can't remember the last time I thought "Oh this MC... 10/10". Major Spoiler: He goes from "I need to get FMC together with the prince" to "This prince is a s*umbag... I'll kill him before I let him put a hand on her." And then, he takes it a step further and realizes that while he's in a loop, for her, this is her life, and that while killing the prince and starting over means nothing to him, he can't do it because him sacrificing himself means something to her.

[collapse]

Overall, I just really like these characters, and the author has some nuance. It's clear what's going on and what's changing, without the author feeling the need to just say "So and so felt this way". The character's feel genuine.

I will be extremely disappointed if this has a bittersweet ending. I want Marigold to be happy. <<less

absolute gem of a novel, IMO this is regression done right, our MC is an actual extra, the system doesn't even trigger for 10 of his reincarnations (100 years). Only when he is finally able to meet Mary, the story MC, is he able to start progressing. This novel combines alot of tropes and genres and mashes them in a single continuous reincarnation story. The MC himself is a refreshing take on protagonists in the sense that he actually optimizes his tasks to be as efficient as possible because he... more>> already did it a thousand times before. Mary is also a good character in that the story has her randomly doing alot of things and there is no set "trope" or "storyline" to execute. This Story is similar to a Roguelike game where nothing is set and your are surprised on every run.

Overall a 10/10 for me! Hope for more chapters. <<less
