The S-Classes That I Raised

Description

An utterly useless, pathetic F-Rank older brother who only drags down his successful S-Rank younger brother.

After living a messed-up life, eventually dragging even my brother’s life down with me, I was given the title after my regression:

‘Perfect Nurturer.’

Fine, this time, I’ll just stay quiet and support those brilliant guys from the shadows.

Or so I thought, but the S-Ranks are acting a little strange.

This is most definitely my favourite Korean novel. It's interesting and funny and hurts my soul like no other.

And before anyone gets turned away at the beginning of the novel by how quickly MC forgives his brother--THERE WERE MAJOR REASONS FOR HIS ACTIONS. It will be expanded upon later. It doesn't just get swept under the rug and disappear. The reasons are legitimate and worrying, and although Yoohyun could have handled it better, he was a CHILD when everything started to go wrong. That isn't a complete excuse for... more>> what he did, but it should be taken into consideration.

Now for the review--

The men are diverse, the women are QUEENS, and MC is a goddamn princess. There are so many cute kids, human, adult, beast, or something else entirely, and I love how he loves them.

I love and feel pained over how he essentially hollows himself out just so he can offer up his everything to his kids. Whether for their happiness, memories, or lives, he's willing to be tortured and slowly rot away on the inside with a smile on his face. He's broken and he knows it, but can't and won't change it. He doesn't want them to know and tries to be the adult in every situation.

I love how the kids love him. How he becomes their world and the different relationships they develop.

I love how the big "good guys" aren't always good. That they're suspicious and this continues to be expanded upon. That different people in the group have different opinions and actions. It makes me think and keeps me on my toes.

I love his interactions with Sung Hyunjae. They alternate between the most out-of-pocket, off-the-wall conversations and deep, sad glimpses into how damaged MC is.

Obviously there are differences between the novel and the manhwa, major ones being that some characters and plot were cut. Though the biggest thing is that the manhwa replaced a lot of the soul-crushing moments, where MC is buckling under the weight of so many problems that no therapy will ever be able to fix, with comedy. Of course, comedy isn't bad, but I just wish they'd been able to make it more like the novel. And frankly, without the introspection of written text, the manhwa portrays him as a lot less jaded and depressed.

As for the novel--Is it queer baiting? Yes. Do I believe that MC and Sung Hyunjae are secretly gay for each other? Also yes. Do I believe that MC could start a harem if he really wanted to? Also also yes. Would he? No.

Anyway, I definitely recommend reading this. Prepare for heart pain and heart break. You're about to read about a shattered glass house that never learned to take care of itself and a bunch of lost children who come to love each of its shards. <<less

I really love this story and wanna share my own review for people who stop reading before chapter 200+ so may be people can give this novel one more chance once there are more translated chapter

In the beginning, lot of characters behavior are unrealistically yandere and seem to be there just to favor MC

However, after reading around 300chapters, all the weird things got explain nicely.

Spoiler

S rank character has very different mindset as they seek danger and feel like want to challenge all the time. And the younger brother who is born s rank is even more extreme. He see all people, animal and non living thing in the same way. He feel possessive over MC because MC is the only thing that different.

Without MC, the younger brother will not stay in human society because there is no reason to talk. Probably will seclude himself just to fight and not interact with anyone. His reason for setting up the guild is also to have power in human world to protect the danger to MC

[collapse]

Then, MC is really unreliable narrator. He view himself very low so his mind being explain in contradicting way. Like in one chapter, he mention he want to not be burden to younger brother but in next next chapter, he mention he will leech of his rich younger brother and go slack.

Once, the story move, we start to see MC as an affectionate person and when his past is being share in more detail, we start to understand why MC is so contradicting in the beginning.

Spoiler

When they are young, MC is normal son while younger brother is weird and inhuman. The parent notice and start to neglect the younger son. Our MC can choose to go with the parent but instead, he give up on the parent and choose his younger brother.

At that moment, MC already throw all of himself and devote to the younger brother. So MC's world is the younger brother. The younger brother did suppress his aggressive nature to fit human society as to follow what MC want him to be.

Then, dungeon break start, the younger brother choose to push away MC because he want MC to live normal life which MC try to put it on the younger brother. However, the younger brother does not understand that MC's world is himself. I would say he does not even know that a human can break from being reject.

Whatever MC does during pre-regression always have backslash. The media aim for the younger brother's guild also target MC specifically. (MC does not know). The younger brother also sent money to MC so the guild member feel like MC leeching off their guild leader while MC never touch that money.

MC got bully harshly and start to believe he is someone who try to enjoy his younger brother's status. Then he believe himself has inferiority complex. But the actual reason that he hitting dungeon non stop is because he want to be next to his younger brother who is his world.

Thus the story narrated by MC in the beginning will feel like author does not plan the character well enough.

I found this novel after reading "Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint" and "tr*sh of the Count's Family". Some fanarts would include this novel and so far? I'M LOVIN' IT!

I love stories with lots of misunderstanding that'll lead the MC to be beloved/cherished by people around him! The MC started weak and decided to support the people around him instead of being a ball of jealousy and envy which is a great development. This novel is one of the series I look forward to aside from ORV & TCF!

To be honest my opinion of this novel is interesting, and I say this as a person who likes to read novels regardless of how poorly planned out or written it is. And somehow, I can say this is my most hated web novel I have read that isn't crossing certain boundaries. I will begin this with: while hated, it is not the 'worst' novel. And frankly, it's amazing for me to hate any novel regardless of it's quality, because I love reading.

TDLR; I'm mad because I should've appreciated it.... more>> Spoiler: I couldn't.

The initial issue I had with this novel was that I genuinely thought it was charming (I'm talking chapters 1-2) with an interesting concept for a main character...

Spoiler

That is, until the main character became just a doormat for his brother. You can't be serious. You cannot even begin to convince me that a guy who lived half his life with resentment and hatred to his younger brother that he essentially sacrificed his life for, forgave him that easily. And you know what? I could understand the shock and gratefulness for his brother being alive again the first day. I expected him to at least show some disciplinary actions at his brother- and we definitely are NOT counting the lackluster words he gives when his brother lashes out at others or peace (iirc thats the name). He doesn't do it in any reasonable time and it was annoying.

[collapse]
I was seriously angry on the protag's behalf. And thats FINE. It's FINE. That's like half of those anti sue novels that are just misery posting, and I do think they're fun to read. S-classes still, is not that. Like sure, a book that is just miserable all the time isn't fun and you're going to lose readers. But no, it's really not that. Even it's emotional spots just lightly grazes being good.

It's not even like anime like Bl*e Ex*rcist, where the plot is there, but you're there for the characters! The Development! Nah. The people around Han Yoojin is like doraemon's bag. Their personalities is almost a thing of convenience- a chimera of popular webnovel tropes to create some amalgamation of 'this has something I like! I should like this!' It's like reading a novel where the author is behind you going: 'you should like this character, ' or 'this character is pitiful' but with no real pay off. I cannot even in good faith say that it's non-existent! Because CLEARLY! The author DEFINITELY thought about it. Was it meaningful? ABSOLUTELY NOT. And by god I understand things that leave things (characters, relationships, backstories) to the reader to interpret and play with. I truly truly do. This feels like a quarter of that. If authors cut half of their work to hide from readers. This is like if the author only gave you a quarter. It's nonsensical and frankly, isn't that fun to read after the first 100 chapters, and that's being genuinely generous. And I'm furious. I'm furious because I can see this being so good.

So genuinely good, that I'd even stand with those guys who call ORV, LCF, & S-classes the holy trio. That s*upid grouping I openly LOATHE. Because the IDEA is good. Hell, I'd even say I LIKED the writing (not the story, but the writing.) The pacing? Arguably better than ORV. But for the love of god it's like the author was AFRAID that if they kept to their original idea they wouldn't have the same dedicated fan-base (and the saddest thing? they probably wouldn't.) It's the fact it comes SO close to being something I'd like, that it's SO hated.

And you know what? For all that sh*t talking? I don't even HATE Han Yoohyun. I actually find his character kind of fascinating! The idea S-classes are autistic-coded? (not used as an insult, but genuinely!) That's pretty cool! Like how Sentinels are pretty much autistic!!! You love to see that kind of thing in media!! But for the love of god, you are going to sit me down and tell me he is a good brother? The guy who basically gave his older brother both no privacy and no respect? Han Yoojin was treated like he held no real MEANING to this guy and he got little to no consequence for that initially. Like sure, he suffers later but... why wait that long??? It's seriously baffling. It's demeaning! It's annoying! Han Yoojin is a GROWN adult. He should at LEAST have the self respect to get it from his one and only true relative. No. No, no, no. That does not improve. One more chapter. Still DOES NOT improve. ANOTHER chapter. Guess what? He gains another annoying person. Dude I think you were better off alone without this half baked 'harem.'

And you know what? I'd be more lenient if it was actually BL instead of some YAOIBAIT. I'd actually respect it more in that case. What do you even have to lose??? Like literally you already have this basically... waves hands generally, whatever that is. I highly doubt there's any homophobic freak reading this novel. At least have some self respect and label it as such. Like he doesn't even have to canonically get with a guy. Seriously who does the author think they're fooling though. LIKE. Let's say this. I know that his options is totally still pretty bs. but still. This novel is a the most fetish driven tr*sh fire of a SFW novel I've ever had to suffer through. It's a coward of a novel. It's trying so hard to be so many different thing. It fails at most of them.

And by god what was the point of it at all? You'd think "WOW! FAMILIAL BONDS! THE IMPORTANCE OF CARING FOR YOUR BROTHER!" I wish I was back to when I read chapter 1 so I could tell myself to stop there and PRETEND I read it. Because whatever I read was not worth it. Frankly I am INSULTED that this is what people recommend with their full heart. I'd understand if it was recommended like so: " OH IT HAS INTERESTING CONCEPTS, EVEN IF THEY FALL FAULT" BUT NO. People recommend it like it has minimal flaws. It's existence is a flaw. If you liked this and like ORV? Read The World is Online. At least it's honest enough to be BL and at least their protagonist has self respect. It's still? Not that good. Actually, if you WANT to not have it explicitly canon? How about this???? Read 'I Woke Up as the Villain.'

And oh. Oh I bet you think I'm recommending these on S-classes because I like them. No! They do not even begin to reach the point of favoritism. But I pity you, and I BEG you to have the self-respect and love to treat yourself to something ACTUALLY coherent. They both have the same GENERAL idea but it doesn't feel like a jumble of ideas thrown into a story half-baked! And not even in a fun way!! Like my god. It can't even be that you were desperate for BL is it??? Or do you want a bis*xual protaganist? For the love of anything what is the appeal? I'm desperate. Do you just want to adlib it into something good? Is that it? Every aspect of this novel to miss just every other point so you can feel like it's genius for something it didn't do? I'm sad for you. Get out there and think. Do you enjoy it because you want to be in the space? You want to see what the author wanted? Or because you actually think its good. And I honestly would complain less about this if people didn't hark it as something good, but enjoy it as something to criticism. Sorry dude. This isn't good. I haven't finished the last part of the novel but I hope Han Yoojin ends up with a nice lady and leaves everyone else behind except his daughter figure. <<less

Everything in this story is good but not gonna lie the MC has a questionable relationship with the other men and from my perspective I think he's not raising the s-class more like starting an harem (please don't judge) but this novel is fire though I truly recommend it.

Don't listen to those commenters who gave this a low rank and called it boring and stuff, they didn't even get past chapter 50.

Me personally, I came from the Manwha and started the novel around chapter 149. And let me tell you, every chapter has left me hooked, wanting more. It sucks that there's not any consistent translations here, so check out SFS Translations and request to be added to the Google doc (Its easy, they have good quality, they update weekly, and it's not sketchy!)

I love the character... more>> dynamics and the depth each character has. The brother of the MC may seem weird at times, but I swear, it's not like that!! He's just very protective if his brother, as his brother basically raised him. They have no further relationship than sibling who deeply care for each other, as they are all that they have.

The MC starts off as someone who thinks and acts selfishly, but he changes into a selfless overworking idiot who is rotting from the inside out due to his unescapable past tramas and need to become bait for bad guys. I'm not fully done with the novel as of yet, (and there may or may not be a ship that I really wish would sail (looking at you two Hyj and Shj)) but it's NOT your "boring usual regression story with a OP MC." Just give it a try! Or do what I did and read the Manwha first, then the novel. (Though there will be things you miss out on)

Happy reading!! ^^ <<less

This is a really good one in my opinion, one of the few novels that I re-read and still being fun to read.

This novel is popular in korea based on how much fanart there is in the internet, and still ongoing too.

Sadly the English translation is dropped at ch 187, I'm waiting for another translation pick this up. Really what a shame, it would have been very popular as there's a lot of reader waiting for this novel.

Good novel, most readers here give bad review because at the first half of the novel it's indeed a bit more to "safe side". But if you read along to chapter 120 and so on (I'm currently at ch 448) there'll be many twist within the system side

Spoiler

The system side is divided into two faction, those who support honey (Han Yoojin nickname created by newcomer) in saving the world and the filial addict who want to destroy the world. Also the identity of some characters aren't that simple

There's an arc where Han Yoojin and his entire party got dragged into nightmare which is the world of Han Yoojin before regression. Before that there's also an arc where they got dragged into a previous world before it got destroyed, but in this arc everyone don't bring their real bodies except Yoojin. He died 3 times here

✭ Final rating: 4.5

"It may be impossible to fully understand each other in the future. It's hard to bridge that gap even for normal people. But, in the chance you went down to the depths of the sea, even if it wasn't a pond, i'd stand on the shore and wait for you."

S Classes is a great book, it's never boring, and it always keeps your attention, especially in later chapters. It is a regression/dungeon break novel with superpowers, assigned levels and guilds. People there have used any means necessary to make a world that would work and function in the current predicament they are in.

There are a lot of chapters so far, nearing 600, but every time I hear of spoilers I just wonder: when will all of this happen? Because there are so many things going on later that I wonder if we are reading the same book.

The main plot is explained early at around chapter 100, so you won't be feeling too annoyed that you have no idea what's going on or what the actual plot around here is.

This is a time travel/regression kind of a book where main character, Han Yoojin, went 5 years back because his brother Han Yoohyun died for him, protecting him. He could have chosen to wish something else, but it seemed the best decision at that time.

But as always, there are problems. At first he thought he would just stand aside, do nothing and laze about - depending on his brother's protection - because he went back in time where things were still more or less alright, and their relationship was not yet broken. But the problems appear when his status as lowest of the low - F rank - got upgraded with some L and S skills that start to make him priceless.... and very much target for everyone who finds about them. First he starts amending his relationship with his brother/guild master and starts doing stuff that his new skills require him to. One of them is to raise 50 S classes, no matter if they are monsters or humans, or if they are currently S or not - as long as he registers them by saying "I love you" which leads to some very awkward situations (just imagine, Han Yoojin curses the day he accidentally set it as his keyword).

He gathers plenty of pets (Peace is the best, please love peace; Chirpie too) and few people he can influence, and in a short while, his reputation starts to go out to the roof and well... many people want his abilities for himself.

There is also mysterious system and system admins, who they are, what is happening with dungeons across the world and why Yoohyun died in the first place from a monster that was never supposed to appear in D dungeon...

There are so many feels in this book, you will probably be very emotional or cry a lot, especially in much later chapters when you reach the core of each character and how they feel. The one who hits the worst is Han Yoojin, who gave up his dreams, his career, his everything to raise his younger brother, only to be abandoned in the first life... That leads to some severe self esteem issues, reckless behavior, a lot of sadness, pain, especially whenever he remembers that his brother died protecting his useless self because he was trying to die.

Han Yoojin lost a lot in life, but also gained a lot in return after regression. He opened up to people and he gathered a bunch of weirdos around him.

The plot is quite interesting, it's never dull, and the characters and their tendencies make me scream.

Especially Han Yoohyun and Sung Hyunjae. Both make me scream, especially SHJ because he's so overwhelming and annoying and adorable and irritating and... so damn funny.

Read for many pets, many cute parts, a lot of angst, good plot!

Downsides: if you are bothered with anti-japanese comments, and one situation kind of being handled lightly
Spoiler

because it was played for laughs, but in reality nothing really happened and it was adressed as well... Those two are the only instances that could be kind of off putting, but there are too many good points for this book to amend to it.

OVERALL:

✭ Characters: 5 - fantastic development of main characters.

✭ Side characters: 4.25- So many amazing stories about them, they are all well done and there's plenty of chapters dedicated! (Except Sung Hyunjae, he's like 10/10 would recommend also HYH ♥_♥, moon hyuna, noah, bak yerim and some others)

✭ Story: 5 - Very easy to follow!

Too much action, not enough character. This story isn't bad, but character development seems to have been completely disregarded in favor of story and action. I gave it a while, and wasn't a bad read, but I just don't feel invested in the characters enough to care what happens to them.

novel is like. 4/5, but in my heart, it's like 3/5 only bc im easily annoyed by clingy characters, but that's just a personal thing.

tbh I dropped this novel around 120 chapters, but mostly due to preferences- this story is definitely fun and isn't poorly executed, I just can't stand clingy characters that don't consult with MC about his boundaries and just does whatever they want with their relationship with him (and I can't even be that mad, bc the MC kinda LETS it happen/doesn't seem to think it's a... more>> problem. Which like, fine. If he's okay with it then who am I to get pissed, but I just personally couldn't read much more of this bc of it).

the setting is real fun, I love the slapstick situations with the MC, and the supporting cast were well-developed. The small snippets of world building, such as with the dokkaebi and their position in terms of the fabrics of their world's natural order, and what the even world really is, kept me captivated. However, this plot definitely has a 'harem' sort of undertone, and that. Idk. I just can't. The supporting cast, while I can understand their infatuation with the MC, especially given that mc's skills are along the lines of manipulation, I just personally can't stand how people feel entitled to protecting the MC or speak for him, or just overall overestimate their own importance in his life. It's not like their actions are unnatural or possessive (well 👀-), and the author doesn't make them braindead with their obsession (they all have their individual reasons for investing in MC, making all of them feel like dimensional characters with own personalities that are acknowledged by each other), but it's just annoying to me. Like. I CANT.

and MC personally isn't my cup of tea either. I'd get along with him irl and really like him as a person, but he's a MASSIVE pushover to people's persistent infatuation with him. To be fair, if that's what he wants then go for it, but, the author writes it off as mild and passive due to his obliviousness. And that just like. Pisses me off. Idk. Like I want him to tell them off LMAO. He has no real motivation/drive and just. He just kinda goes with things. Which honestly, is me. That's me. But it's the way he goes along with peoples' clinginess towards him that kinda sets me off. Like I'm fine with people pursuing him for their own reasons, or being clingy ig, but I don't like how they compete over him. I can't stand that. It's like what right do they have to evaluate each others' worth in regards to the MC, especially since they seem to assume/make the decision about it for him? I know lots of people personally like this dynamic, but for me, I just can't stand it. I'm not really annoyed at the MC, I'm more irritated by how people treat him I guess.

however, I'm okay with the brother having a complex towards him in spite of my usual disdain towards overly possessive characters. Mostly because MC is AWARE of it, and even mirrors his questionable possessiveness. With other people, MC is portrayed as dense/unconscious of their infatuation, and therefore he just tolerates it, but with his brother, the fact that he isn't afraid to call out his brother on his personality, realizes and is AWARE of how bad it's gotten, and even matches it, makes it feel like weirdly consensual/two-way possessiveness you know. It feels WAY better than those "omg he's f*cked up and im scared so i'll just stay/tolerate with it, " vibes that are often in these 'dense protag + harem' stories, but unlike the other version where the protag might openly despise the character's twisted personality (which is cool too), he actually MATCHES his brother in terms of brotherly complex, which is something I don't see often with this type of MC, and if anything, I surprisingly really enjoyed reading about. Like it's almost hilarious because then they're this twisted duo, a dynamic that I LOVE between any characters (like when two characters are equally f*cked but not in a nauseating way, but in a hilariously shameless 'eat shit' way). Ofc, the brother ticks me off a lot, but he's less annoying in the sense that their brotherhood was a two-way street, unlike everyone else who tried to edge themselves with him (ik MC cared about everyone and saw them as his responsibility, but the way they always challenged the brother's relationship with MC, as if he wasn't considered family already, pissed me off. Like lol wh0 are y0u, a kid that MC took in for a week out of obligation, opportunity, or pity, relative to mc's own brother who he had a tumultuous yet tight history with? Like I literally hate my brother on most good days, and we're super distant, but if my friend tried to challenge his position as my brother just because they're jealous of him or think he doesn't have the right to be close with me or not as if it's their right to judge, then they'd better learn sign language bc imma start speaking with my hands).

^ anyways. I think the brotherhood was my favourite relationship, mostly because of how it's really the only one I encountered up to where I read, where the MC has a chance to naturally reveal another aspect of his personality that all the other relationships hadn't had at that point. Bc with them, it feels like one side is more infatuated with him than he is with them, with makes him out to be oblivious or naive, but with his brother, he's openly bastard-like just for him LMAO. Bc MC isn't really a good person- we know his inner thoughts and how he treated even his brother in the beginning; he's not a bad person, but everyone else idolized him out to be a national treasure that's easily stolen/taken advantage of. Tbh, his brother thinks similarly, but the author uses their dynamic to reveal to the other characters that MC is pretty f*cked up about his brother as well, and it's like a refreshing scene amongst the "awe poor bb" perspectives that everyone kept shoving onto him.

anyways sorry this was less of a review and me just explaining my preferences even though people didn't need to hear it nor did anyone ask for it. I think reading this just gave me a headache and I had to vent LMAO <<less

Okay the story is soo good.. It really good but sometimes the MC have a sus relationship with mens, especially with the Jupiter guild leader🧐 but it really good as I have mentioned before if you ignored the sus part.

What made me read this novel is their strong bond between brothers. Their level of loving and caring for each other as siblings is no joke.

Came from the manhwa to read the novel.

I like the fact that MC's stats as a F-rank remain even though he gets op skills. Also there are quite many plot conveniences but the story makes up for it through the interesting world building secrets and the characters.

Overall this novel is full of crazy shenanigans and MC building up relationships with high ranking Awakened leading to misunderstandings etc and a genuine care for each other.

Of course the yandere vibes are there but they have an explanation. Also MC isn't normal either.... more>> He may be weak but he's definitely at least somewhat crazy from his childhood time even though he uses the fear resistance skill at first to interact with the strong S-ranks.

Overall I enjoyed reading it 3.5/5 stars. (Also MC definitely fits in with the rest of the sacrificial idiots, looking at you Kim Dokja and Cale)

Oh yeah the BL vibes are off the charts in this too. I find myself looking for the tag even though I know it's not there. (ORV did this too but left us hanging)

Tbh this novel gets harsher reviews due to not having translation since the plot only really starts to pick up after 200+ chapters.

I'd say give it a try if you like just look out for the tags <<less

I love this novel, it is a shame that the english translation hasn’t gone that far considering that this novel is a top 3 in Korea..

I love the MC, the whole plot are just great, the angts, the building, binged it in a few days and now i’m obsessed for more. A 5 star for me, the comedy is great, so if you’re looking for something like a comedy-relief with action in it then it’s for you. There will be times where it can get depressing, but the author really... more>> don’t drag it for long.

Just so you know, but this novel is one of the holy trinity, in which holy trinity has a characteristics where the MC are just suicidal, beware of their tendencies of always trying to sacrifice themselves.

Also, why do people kept sexualizing the relationship Yoojin and Yoohyun have?? They’re brothers! It’s so annoying. <<less

Hi all..

First of all I love this novel and it's plot. The MC is pathetic but he is reliable and emotional. I love the characters who are emotional towards their surroundings.

The love of MC is deep for his brother and same with his brother as well. The novel has dipicted proper relationship of two brothers which is rare these days. The interaction between both of them is quite good and sometimes even agressive. Well what we can do when you have only brother who loved and supported the younger brother... more>> as a parent, getting protective is perfectly fine.

Same time the friends and other characters are as well very nicely made as the look at the MC as subject of interest and affection. The MC as well loves them back with all he has got and won't spare those who harmed them.

Love doesn't need to be with opp. Gender. Love is unconditional and beyond the boundaries of gender. So the love that MC holds is limitless. He feels inferior to his loved ones but he never stops giving love due to this.

And most importantly the love and affection the MC gets from other characters are truly a gem and I just love their interactions.

P.S I love all of them especially Han Yoojin and Sung Hyunjae and they are both amazing. I love you both.

Thank you ❣️ <<less

I am at less than 200 ch's so far, but I love the story.

Yoo Jin can be a bit annoying as an MC but he's hard working even if he doesn't mean to be. LOL.

the world building is ok- its "Modern Day". And the Characters are written well. The story is gripping even if it is similar to other novels of this type.

Its also extra fruity ಥ_ಥ - there are so many harem members, both male and female.

Honestly. IT'S THE BEST NOVEL I'VE READ SO FAR. And I have read quite a few. I'm surprised it's not more popular.

It has all the nice ingredients bit most importantly the characters are actually alive. It's not about the MC going out and saving the world while the said world is there as a background and the characters are just props to show you how cool he is. The whole thing is about the characters. The MC is weak (well he does learn a few tricks here and there but... more>> comparably he wouldn't be able to beat any of the S ranks). He won't save the world. The people around him will. And the key to strengthening them and making them awesome and OP is by taking care of them, deepening their relationship and guiding them. It's really awesome. Btw that's his power. Our responsible older brother takes care of the little brats (both humans and beats alike) and he can make them grow.

On top of that the novel is hella funny. Mostly thanks to the interactions between the characters. I basically love everything about sung hyunjae. I didn't used to but he grows on you and now I love when he and MC are having another banter. The overprotectivness of both brothers is also funny and endearing. Our MC is weak but he wants to protect his brother from the bad side of the world and retain his innocence. On the other hand our little dongseang is far less innocent than MC thinks and is also fiercely protective. To the point of absurd. There are many many alive and fun characters here worth exploring further and I wish the updates would come faster.

Thank you translator team! ≪3 Please don't drop this I don't know what I'm gonna do then! <<less

i like it and its good. MC is a bit similar to cale (strategic, weak, but they do have their op moments). its kind of cliche for modern fantasy or regression novels, but I find it quite enjoyable. translations are okay and has good grammar.

Spoiler

MC practically regresses for being the cause of his younger bro's death. there's obviously a lot more going on, like saving the world and shit, and him being responsible for that as a regressor.

[collapse]

author is really pushing it with "bromance" though, so much that I actually wonder why this isn't tagged as bl. I suggest if youre uncomfortable with that, you should stay away from this. if you find the bromance up to chapter 132 still tolerable, its gonna get worse. kr male fans have had issues with this, to the point that a lot of them feel deceived lol. also, at the later chapters, MC and other male characters interact... much more than you think, so consider that before reading. <<less

I wavered quite a bit between 4 and 5 because I truly did like the story but also was kinda tired of it at the same time. It is a good story, I like MC’s spunk and how he wasn’t truly afraid of dirtying his hands. The banter is great, the action scenes are ok, and watching MC deal with everyone vying for his attention (and deal with his brocon brother) is funny.

the thing is, the story can get kinda convoluted. MC sets out to live meekly to make sure... more>> he stays out of the way of his little brother this time but next thing we know he’s a beast tamer and the system admins are talking to him. I’m also not 100% fond of the brainwashing aspect of his powers nor how easily he spills his secrets (or how bad he is at keeping them) but I do like how he never changes in his goal of being helpful to his brother. <<less

It has good beginning and had good MC development. His actions are understable and his class is pretty unique. What I like is the MC is weak while he supports other strong characters like tr*sh of the Count Family. If you like weak MC but can do support and have clever mind with strong allies having potential. Then this would be suitable for your taste.
