The S-Classes That I Raised

An utterly useless, pathetic F-Rank older brother who only drags down his successful S-Rank younger brother.

After living a messed-up life, eventually dragging even my brother’s life down with me, I was given the title after my regression:

‘Perfect Nurturer.’

Fine, this time, I’ll just stay quiet and support those brilliant guys from the shadows.

Or so I thought, but the S-Ranks are acting a little strange.

I loved reading this so much, oh my goodness. I’m aware that stuff like this isn’t everyone’s taste but this novel was truly right up my alley. I loved all the characters so much, and the plot always kept me captivated, the abilities were fun and the side characters actually had character and didn’t feel just like cardboard cutouts. They actually had personalities and ambitions and goals and UGHH I loved this novel so much man. It made me laugh and cry and swoon and I would stay up at... more>> night reading it, I may have grown a bit attached to all the characters so maybe I’m a bit biased but the story telling is honestly great and reading through all the different arcs was such a wonderful and captivating experience that I’m still reeling from some of it. If you’re hesitating on reading this then I implore you to just try it. You really won’t regret it!

sure, at first it was a bit slow but it really does pick up quickly and all the character interactions are so fun and hilarious and it’s such a genuinely good story to me. I’ve never written a review before on this site I fear, so maybe some of the stuff I said doesn’t make much sense, I’m not that great with words or writing but this novel really is amazing in my opinion! Definitely a 5/5 for me, 10/10, 100/100, yada yada ya. <<less

Truly, I am confused what a lot of these negative comments are talking about. Personally, I found this story to be just as good as TCF and ORV. The main character really reminds me of Cale and Kim Dokja in a way.

A lot of comments are criticizing the beginning and how apparently the MC stays jealous, which is weird cause I find that to be normal. If my younger siblings ended up being so much better than me and basically was everything I wanted to be, it would be weird... more>> to not be jealous. And, he didn't randomly switch from being jealous to deciding to raise pets. He went from (spoilers) getting the Caretaker awakening to realizing it connects to S classes, to learning he needed to raise S classes (which he does do, he is raising not only Peace but Yerim, Blue, Comet, Noah, etc...). I find it strange that a lot of these reviews are just blatantly spreading false information.

(Also I want to say he doesn't doesn't jealous, he just admits that he is very greedy and jealous person and it actually surprised me because I was expecting him to be blind to it. But he was basically like "yeah I'm a pos, anway, I want to actually be with my brother now that I know the real reason he kept blocking me from doing shit")

Personally, I'd recommend this to any of my friends, it's very entertaining and hasn't annoyed me yet. The first 3 chapters weren't the best but after that it takes off. I hope anyone reading this also gives it a shot. I was not expecting to like this as much as I did, in fact I was expecting to hate it. Surprisingly it was so well written that I would put it in my top tthree.

This is my first review on this app so I'm not too sure how far indepth I'm supposed to go, but I decided to write a review to counter all the BS I was reading in the reviews. <<less

Overall story is good in a nice and relaxed way. The issue comes in the ambiguous relationships. It was never explicit but you can feel the boy love (Yaoi) vibes all over the place. The author teases you and making you wonder if it will happen.

It was sooooo good!!! 😎😎😎 The MC is really cool and the side characters dit their roles. Also evwryone in the main cast have their own personality 😁

The story and it's flow is also well writte I can only recommend it.

My favorite parts are where MC gets along with Mr. Chain! I really wish this would became a BL story😍 or at least stayike this and flirt forever.

I love this.

As a girl who were used to shoujo novels, shounen genre are alien and a bit hard to understand. This is the first shounen novel that I read.

This novel has good plotline, charming characters, worldbuilding, angst and a lot of fluff. I read reviews saying that this is like a BL novel and I agree!! Sung Hyunjae and Han Yoojin practically flirt everytime they meet, seriously.

Overall, this is a 4.2 for me <3 I feel like certain happenings just lacked emotional depth sometimes — probably because of Yoojin's... more>> Fear Resistance. Totally recommended though 😉 <<less

I caught up with the most recent chapter and am seriously obsessed. Han Yoojin is a caring older brother to the border of a bro-con. Idk what TL the other reviewers are reading but Asian Hobbyist and Box Novels are my go-to. Han Yoohyun is sort of a yandere younger brother but considering how seriously dangers the other S-Rank hunters are he's in the right to be concerned since Han Yoojin has F-Rank stats. There is an explanation of why HYJ could wish for time reversal and yet couldn't wish... more>> the dead back to life. I'm seriously doubting whether or not I and a handful of negative reviewers actually read the same thing. HYJ's fear resistance does make him do s*upid things to which the Korean Association S-Rank Hunter and the transcendents warn him. And his ability as a perfect caretaker makes it so that the people he uses the keyword on would view him as their most favorite... person? Guardian figure? For Bak Yerim, it was the oppa down the road. The skill made Bak Yerim see HYJ as that oppa. For Noah, the skill made him see HYJ as his older sister. The skills may appear to be OP but it's very quickly drilled into you that, no, the skills are really not that OP. The skills could make the one affected to either be extremely violent as seen with Noah or extremely protective as seen by Han Yoohyun.

Spoiler

Luckily, Han Yoojin stops using the skills on humans and instead focuses it on beast animals.

[collapse]

The pacing is a bit strange. It could be hundreds of chapters but only a few months have passed which I find weird with the word count and amount of action happening in just two months. Wish that this novel gets the recognition it deserves. Def deserves to be in the Holy Trinity.

And for those who say HYJ is a terrible older brother even after regression:

Spoiler

HYJ is literally a complete 180 of who he was before. He's willing to say I love you to his brother, to rely on him, and even worries of what the public says about his brother. Not to mention the fact that he's legit searching for the transcendent that took his brother's corpse just so he can make the future 5 years Han Yoohyun and current five years in the past Han Yoohyun become one. He doesn't want to lose his brother, even if the current Han Yoohyun is no different from the one who died.

[collapse]

HYJ's interactions with Sung Hyunjae makes this novel even more entertaining. Similar to that of KDJ and YJH's relationship but SHY is more of a sly, egotistical, and playful snake.

Please give this novel a chance. It's really underappreciated. It may not be your taste but it wouldn't hurt to read it when you have no other options, right?

Also, congrats on the manhwa adaptation!! <<less

This was the novel that got me into reading light novels. I remembered seeing a beautiful fanart of it on Pinterest and got curious.

It is amazing and so much fun to read, especially because I don't like reading story in 1 POV, but this novel totally captured my heart.

I reread it several times on different websites over the year (... the updates can be very slow 😓). I try mtl but my brain couldn't handle it QAQ so I can only begrudgingly wait for updates...

Still, the translation has gotten better... more>> recently after that disastrous period. <<less

It started out ok, same story as most other novels with main character going back to in time to a younger self and start raising pets or other people. But the story lacks character development, lack of humor, and the actions part were lackluster latter on. I tend to enjoy reading Korean novels but this one was just painful to read as it was boring without anything that stands out. I'm wondering how it gets such good review when it felt like the author or translator was writing it just... more>> for the sake of getting the writing done in a time crunch.

Same yourself some time and real other novels. <<less

I gave it 3 stars before, but now I'm raising it to 4 now that the world building had been clearer than before.

+ It was a really fun light read

+ Characters are interesting and if you're a sucker for obsessive chara, you'll get plenty of them here.

... more>> + I like the relationship between MC and other characters. It's like they're pet or smth lol

+MC is OP without physically OP skills and it's always interesting to me

- The writing is just lacking. Lot of times descriptions can be confusing

- Most characters got interested in MC right away so it feels pretty weird and don't bring out their personalities at all.

-The novel is too MC centered that other characters presence felt too little. Often times you'll forget they exist.

- I realized it in most east asian asian novels, but they always don't put who's talking at the dialogue. Seems like a cultural thing, since they have junior/senior and gendered difference in the way of talking so it should be easy for them to tell the difference of who is talking at the time. But it's really hard to tell in English you know... <<less

I forgot how many chapters I've read since it's been a while since I last read this. I thought I'd written a review before.

It's fun in general but it's a major queer-bait. Don't get me wrong - I love BL, but I also like my fair share of action-packed Korean novels that focus on straight (and to my dismay, harem) romance. ORV and TCF are two great examples where you don't feel it's queer bait despite the persistent jokes about the male leads' relationship. This one on the other hand,... more>> made me doubt NU's tagging system. The confusion is what really made me feel irked and I finally gave up reading the novel.

That is not to say that this is a bad novel. Do give it a try and judge yourself. <<less

So I loved the beginning where the MC uses his brain to overcome challenges. However, the story soon becomes cliche and the MC just recklessly charges everywhere and wins thru pure luck every time. There's nothing that sets this apart from similar dungeon stories and I lost interest.

Going by the premise alone, I had to give points to the non-over powered main character which is usually the norm for these style of light novels. He quite literally cannot defend himself against 90% of the other characters introduced up to the point I read.

That being said, this character had one flaw which I just couldn't stand, and that is his complete lack of confidence. Or more the the point the inability to say no to others, particularly his little brother (thou it's not limited to just him). The... more>> concept is great but the execution leaves something to be desired. Now this could very well be just due to my own tastes and personality so I won't try to tell you this isn't worth your time. In fact, if this doesn't sound like a problem or even makes the character better in your eyes, then you're quite likely to love this novel for it's unique MC in a rather familiar world.

When I say familiar world it's because I've read countless LN about how dungeon portals start appearing all over Earth causing those around them to become powered people randomly. This isn't a new idea, it's rather old hat at this point, reason being it's a relatively easy and unimaginative way to create a world with super powers and monsters on demand. Not putting it down, just pointing out the over used setting for what it is.

There are worse things to spend your time on and if the previously mentioned points aren't problems for you then this is definitely worth your time. For me, I had to drop it because I got tired of the pushover MC giving in yet again for no real reason. <<less

I love this novel!! Its makes me addicted and my heart felt fluffy from cuteness overload (Peace and Chirpy are adorable♡♡). I also love interaction and how protective and sticky little bro feel toward his hyung (brocon alert?!) Quite slow pace but entertaining, I really love it, wishing for more soon.

Thanks translator-nim for your hardwork! I kept up with the recent release and desperate for more?

Hugely different from the webcomic adaptation, which is very contemporary and looks back at the wave of moody regressor stories from the late 2010s with a cynical, parodic eye. This webnovel is from 2018 and it feels like it. If there was ever a college class on the regressor genre, this would be the set text.

Han Yoojin is a horrible protagonist — mercurial, selfish, and almost obtuse about how he uses/ab*ses people. I thought that this novel was going further with the brothers’ negative relationship by emphasising how badly it... more>> affected each of them; but Han Yoojin, the 25-year-old man, comes across as a edgy teenager who cannot forgive the smallest slight, and his younger brother forgives him like an angel in comparison. It’s weirdly written. He’s really unpleasant to follow. I think the author was leaning into the genre expectations of the time when starting this novel, and it’s clear even from here that there’s going to be a personality shift — oh, he loves his brother really, he’s just a tsundere — but it feels undeserved, more like the author just didn’t want people to hate Han Yoojin. Well, I hate him. And I wish the author had committed to making him suck.

It’s bizarre how little this adds to the genre when the webcomic is so thoughtful and transgressive. The scenes in this are clunky and over-written. Han Yoojin cares more about a pet monster than the human beings he has contracted with, or the brother who literally died for him. He invests stocks in the hunter version of Kakaotalk. It’s just embarrassing 😭 His whole motivation is getting a one-up on everyone who treated him like crap for being F-class, but he keeps doubling back on himself — presumably because the author is getting a sense that cringe edgelords only get to be that whilst they’re teenagers. So it just doesn’t feel coherent, with every scene’s primary beat being “how cool can I make Han Yoojin seem now”.

The best way of summarising this is that the webcomic takes Han Yoojin’s activation phrase — I love you — as an opportunity to force him to engage with people that he tries to write off, and put him through exciting recharacterisation arcs. Why did that become his phrase? Because it was the first thing he said when he came across his brother, who had just died for him. He thinks about that almost every time he says it. Everything happens because Han Yoojin loves Han Yoohyun.

And the webnovel — well, the webnovel just makes paedophile jokes about it.

I’ll keep reading this, because I’m hoping it will redeem itself. But so far, it’s middle-of-the-road, which would be forgiveable if the webcomic adaptation wasn’t miles above this. Alas, I have a better version of the story, and that’s really sad. <<less

Well, I only tried reading this novel because of the fan arts...I thought it was going to be good, but... I was disappointed.

Ok, so... What threw me off was the MC/ characters and the part with Yerim.

Spoiler

It just made me annoyed that the two characters barely knew each other and known each other for less than a day, but they go on spilling their life story. Then MC adopts her, like WTH? Basically made the MC father in less than a day. Also, their dialogue also felt unnatural, and felt like they're reading out of a text book when they talk about powers. Hmm, info dump hurts my brain. I'm just so upset that Yerim trusted the MC too quickly, seriously. 15 year year olds should be more cautious.

Now, I'm only in chapter 16, but I already hate everyone in the novel, besides the bodyguard. I really don't like it when everyone likes the MC in an instant. Ex. That su*cide guy and Yerim. That's why I like that bodygaurd. Anyways, another thing that I don't like is that MC and his brother made up just like that because MC said, "I love you." Years of bitter fighting, resolved just like that. Sigh...I really don't like the MC...

One reason out of already many reasons why I don't like the MC is that MC uses pity to make people like him. Ex. su*cide guy and Yerim:

Person: I have a hard time.

MC: Me too! My parents didn't take care of me.

Person: Yay, we're buddies now.

Person: Oh, I don't like my uncle.

MC: It's okay, I don't like my family too.

Person: Yay, we're buddies now.

Annoying! Not everything revolves around you just because you're the MC! -_- Don't bring up your tragic past every single time!

He also lies to them, telling that they knew them before/ knew parents just to get close to them. So fake! The ability to make you more likable makes me annoyed too. Using that ability on humans makes the relationship fake. Do it on an animal, that's better. And-Don't get me started with MC not really having plans. Changing from scouting S classes to stocks.

[collapse]

Maybe I'm judging too early? Perhaps it's quite a great book later down the road? Cool, but so far, it looks like writing made by a fourteen year old.

Thanks for reading my rant. <<less

It's good at the beginning with the funny tittles the MC obtained, the world building, and the interesting plot with the system.

BUT: there is, and quite fast, a lot of bromance and forced interactions that become denser the further you read. All of this makes the MC more like a powerfull accessory that the other S-classes characters want to use, while the MC "it"self doesn't seem to mind: this novel could really be called "The L-Accessory that I became". Joke aside, this makes the MC quite weak willed, bland, and... more>> without any edges, at the opposite of all the other secondary characters, and even compared to his pets. It's then becomes quite annoying to read, and the few crumbs about the mysteries of the system are not worth enough to continue reading it. <<less

I like how every characters so far are grayish. Although there is a bit of personality conflict for MC, it's still bearable albeit he's a bit too nice lately. Besides, the timeline is pretty slow compared to how eventful it is for the MC, poor big brother.

I love this story so much. When I finally was able to read the raws I couldn't stop reading it because every arc is filled with interesting things that happen and also so many wholesome scenes between the cast. The story has so many heartwarming scenes, sad scenes that did get me to a shed a few tears and the action scenes that do occur (especially towards the end) always had me hooked. The world building was something I especially liked from this novel as well.

HOWEVER, some moments do go... more>> by a little slowly which I personally like slow paced stories at times but others might not say the same. The goals also get pushed back a little because there are time when more important problems appear, so the characters have to deal with that. Though when all the goals were finished, I found it extremely satisfying... This novel ultimately really depends on ur taste ig.

The MC at the start had a inferiority complex with his brother since he was a F class but later on in the story when he gets stronger and is respected by others his inferiority complex does get better and I just loved the development! Each character had something unique about them which made them memorable and the MCs way of using his skills to support the others were always cool to read.

Spoiler

Sometimes I did get a little second hand embarrasment like when I was reading him kiss the plants and shout I love you to make it grow... BUT IT WAS STILL SO FUNNY AND DEFINITELY A UNIQUE USE OF HIS SKILL.

[collapse]

Overall, I personally loved this novel I would recommend if you dont mind either waiting for translations or using mtl to read (though it might get a little confusing at times) there are also a bunch of sidestories however I think you can only find them on Naver... <<less

It's been a while since I can't put down a novel after picking it up! It's a unique novel with a unique concept... And I love it!

The only thing that annoys me is that MC is really weak haha! But also like his determination to save his younger brother.

To tell the truth, I didn't have much expectations from this novel but not only did the novel make me curious about every next chapter, it never made me feel bored, like in those action novels where every arc seems to be... more>> repetitive and almost plagiarised from each other. The same scene is in different ways and characters.

If you are a fan of Novel's extra and SSS-suicidal rank (something like this, I seem to forget the name 😅) this one might tempt you. Take it as an easy ongoing novel to refresh the your mood (at least I did) <<less
