Premise is kind of a lie. The MC is incredibly weak all things considered, and the author can't help but gush over how incredible Japanese swordsmanship is compared to western swordsmanship. Have to have a young black haired man from an island nation using a swordstyle that even he considers ideal for his small body in this clearly western fantasy world. By the first significant fight of the series, a clearly Japanese side character who is just a young student in training, gets more impressive moments than this supposed OP... more>> sword saint. He's utterly impotent against an enemy that is scared of the Japanese kids swordsmanship.

The power scaling is kinda dumb. They make a big point of him being in a young body that can't do what his old body could, but then students just a few years older than him are impressing him constantly. It just feels inconsistent and definitely doesn't feel like it should have an Overpowered Protagonist tag. And the obsession with talking up Japan even in a fantasy context is dumb. <<less
