The Villainess Won’t Let the Main Leads Break Up!

Description

Shen Wanqing has transmigrated into a xuanhuan-angst novel! In the novel, the male and female lead’s love story is full of misunderstandings, leading to heartbreak and hurt. In the end, one is dead, and one is wounded.

Shen Wanqing looks at the evil villainess she has transmigrated into, “I understand, my mission must be to break apart the male and female lead, and then win the male lead’s heart, right?”

The system: “No, your mission is to turn this novel into a cute love story.”

Shen Wanqing, “…”

Thus, the evil villainess Shen Wanqing starts working hard for the love of the main leads. But….

‘Alert! The male lead forgot that the female lead doesn’t eat spicy food, he put pepper into the fried pork dish again!’

‘Alert! The villain who has an unrequited love for the female lead has appeared next to her again!’

‘Alert! The cannon fodder side female character has drugged the male lead!’

And just like this, in order to prevent the protagonists from breaking up, Shen Wanqing carefully worked hard on the frontlines. Until one day, the villain who had an unrequited love for the female lead came to find her.

This villain who was rumoured to be violent and bloodthirsty, faintly smiled at her, “Young lady, being a meddler will only lead to death.”

Shen Wanqing was about to open her mouth when the system rang again in her mind, ‘Warning! The main leads are about to break up again!’

She was silent for a while, and then said, “…how about this, can you let me go stop a fight first?”

The villain, “…”

Later on, someone asked Shen Wanqing how she managed to tame the evil monster villain.

Shen Wanqing, “I don’t know, he came running to me first.”

The villain, “?”

  • I do not really like to read cultivation novels, but the fact that I have fully read this and gave it 4 stars means it is quite good! Pros:

    • This novel is just right in length. It is not too long nor too short, which is a plus.
    • It is funny, the FMC and ML's interactions were the highlights of this novel in my opinion.
    • It has likeable side characters. Especially the OG male lead and female lead.
    • The plot is not hard to follow, and there aren't many 'cultivation terms'.
Cons: (in my opinion)

    • The MC/FL: she is not proactive in the slightest, she likes to laze around and only started being proactive near the end of the novel, which was a waste of her talent. She is also morally gray, which kinda makes sense; anyone would be if they entered the world of a book suddenly, however it still is a bit off-putting how she does not hesitate at all to commit mu*der or do something bad. It felt like she was originally a bit of a bad person.
    • I dislike the Author's view when it comes to who's bad guy and who's good guy. It is very messy. And it seems as if every character has that view, which in turn makes everyone in the novel lacking depth.
Overall, it really is good. The cons were my opinions and if you do enjoy a light read, then go ahead and give it a try.

If this genre is your first time then this is a 5 star novel but if u already read some stories similar to this its more going toward 4 star. I liked the beginning very much, fullfilled my love of enemies to lovers trope, their bickering, asking how they will fall for each other etc. But later in the story when ML got knocked out, it got boring for me it was very clear he will survive. The repeated appearance of long texts couldn't keep my curiousity, I dont care... more>> enough. After ML got back its was very cute MC and ML meet with the main leads and had a happy ending, also f that system. After reading many novels where the system is silly, innocent, a friend or the ML itself I forgot how systens were before, cruel and emotionless. These two points saved the stars back to 5. <<less

Short, lighthearted, and doesn't overstay its welcome. The author cares about realism in their characters, and even the side characters act as you would expect someone in their shoes would. Favorite characters were the original ML and FL, which was surprising. I thought they would be annoying cookie cutters reading the summary, and while they kind of are, they're exactly what I hope for from true-good characters. Overall a recommend, the translation is hard to follow at times but if you read mtl often you won't even notice.

Sooo funny. It pretends to be all fluff, no plot, but it's not. There's a surprising amount of angst hidden in the fluff, along with a goodly sprinkling of plot and philosophy. The author keeps talking about the greater good for the greater number, and it's inevitable flaws but also keeps repeating that there is no correct answer. Refusing to be sacrificed for the greater good turned out well for the heroes, and sacrificing in the past had a pretty deleterious effect previously, but also, as one of the antagonists... more>> says, 'we are all survivors of an extremely bloody war, and the decisions we have made, even the ones that backfired, STILL ended up creating the much much nicer world that you currently enjoy.' On the other hand, they truly were awful, awful, insane decisions that should never have been made, so...

But in the end, there is no one correct decision, no one to arbitrate good or bad. You can only act according to your own conscience and your own bottom line, and people will inevitably disagree on what that should be.

As far as the plot is concerned, it was extremely cliche, but that's not necessarily a bad thing if done well, and the story is fresh and engaging enough that you don't mind it. <<less

This novel is SO MUCH FUN!

Gotta love the FL's shameless and the ML's simple but violent temper 😆

The pigeon sidekick is pure slapstick comedy and I can't wait for the next update!

This is another one of those things that is rather entertaining, yet not overly memorable. It's almost crackfic level of entertaining once you get past the repetition.

The MC of the story is Shen Wanqing, a woman who has been brought to this world to play out the role of a side villainess. Unfortunately, the character she has taken over is one that dies (or gets sealed depending on which point the author is describing it). She's kind but not a pushover while very much following the "must have free will"... more>> kind of choice. In fact, she's pretty stubborn in her believes but that's what makes it fun.

Spoiler

The free will thing becomes a major plot point in the story as we learn that the host body she has taken over has a very unique body and is meant as the final sacrifice. She has the ability to do a blood burning technique which is unbelievably powerful. It also allows her body to be the single sacrifice needed to unseal a powerful weapon to kill the ML. Something she refuses to do even though the antagonists keep trying to use the "sacrifice the one for the many" argument.

[collapse]

While this is a bit spoiler-ish, I feel the need to leave it in the open so folks are aware if they go to read. It's mentioned in the story a few times that the antagonists would willingly sacrifice the MC but only after they use her to continue on the bloodline.

Yep. That's a thing.

Rather dark for such a light-hearted story but then, here we are.

The ML is Xie Wuyan, the main villain of the original story, a several centuries old demon who still looks like a young man. Originally, he was the ultimate villain and the one that needed to be stopped. However, that story goes off the rails with the intervention of the MC. He begins to become very attached to the MC and then we learn about his origins. Suddenly, his becoming a villain is incredibly justified.

Spoiler

Turns out, he's also from the same bloodline as the MC (only he was born well before she was) and was sealed by the Heavenly Dao sect. He can perform the same blood burning technique which makes him also a capable sacrifice. Only, the sect lost control of him as he was far too powerful.

Which makes sense, given that one of his parents is an incredibly powerful demon that they had trapped away. It's also a bit squicky as it's implied that the sect was going to use that demon to help the MC produce the next generation.

At the end of the story, he goes mildly nuclear against the sect (justifiably) and releases all the souls they had kept from properly reincarnating.

[collapse]

The story has some funny moments and some cute moments but everything does move fast. The mid-story angst comes across pretty well and fits for how things are happening. Especially the reveal with the system and what it has been trying to do. I did enjoy the growth of the two original leads, especially showcasing how much they changed because of the MC.

Spoiler

The original FL became more assertive and readily expressed her feelings while the original ML became incredibly dedicated to his FL. In fact, the original story portrays him as a bit of a man-ho as it's a harem story but he ends up being incredibly happy to soothe or coax his FL after the MC changes things.

Their change is so radical that the system even indicates the story has completely gone off the rails from what it was supposed to be.

[collapse]

Of course, the ending happens really quickly and isn't quite satisfactory. It does give us our HE before following up with a bonkers modern day side story.

I don't think this is a good read for any hard-core cultivation fans but it was kind of entertaining (like I said, in a crackfic kind of way) so that'd be a yes if you want something that is more towards being a bit light hearted or with a determined/stubborn MC. <<less

It was really fun, even made me cry a little at some points. Loved how the OGs FL and ML had their own growth through the story and remained friends with the protagonists.

I started to read this in the middle of an absurdly long cultivation novel, which I accidentally started reading. Now it is in a very awkward phase where nothing special is happening and to my frustration I don't want to drop it either. This novel was my savior, giving me a well-needed break.

It perfectly fit my delicate sensibilities, allowing me to have a whole day of fun.

A wonderful novel with an extremely likable female lead. I just love her. And the male lead is just perfect. I love him.

Love both... more>> of them!

Highly recommended! <<less

I didn't like this story as much as I thought I would. I think romance is lacking and not enough dog food, there's not much fluff either. The leads don't even realize their feelings till 50-60 chapters (out of 78) and then they are separated and by the time they re-unite, it's only handful of chapters left. So where's the fluff? Where's the dog food? ML's story made me cry a lot. I wish I had liked this a bit more.

Great read, not that long and super funny! Like many have said before, even though there's nothing really innovative, the MC and the ML are great together, and the story has enough depth to their respective backstories to make you feel for them.

The translator, who was doing a wonderful job, unfortunately dropped it, but you can find the rest on MTL quite easily. All in all, the MTL is readable enough, so you can read till the end.

Love this novel, mostly the relationship between the ML and the FL.

The were at each other's throat in the being, but as the story progressed, you could see how they both felt crazy about each other. While reading this I though the ML was going to get sickly obsessed with her but really, he's only a very supporting boyfriend (\^0^/). I also like the OGML and OGFL weren't really typical villains (even though the misunderstandings with them were annoying.)

(Not really spoilery, just rambles about why I've dropped this.)

Spoiler

Hm. I've decided to drop this. It's a bit repetitive and I'm not really enjoying the overall plot, which is mostly based on annoying things being done by annoying people.

It has some likeable interactions at times between the two main characters. I appreciate that the MC is more whimsically pragmatic than strictly moral, because sometimes that is burdensome to read when they also have a system making them do things. I appreciate that the ML genuinely has a reason for being cruel and heartless, rather than it just being his nature and randomly changing because he met a Not Like Other Girls.

However, I also dislike it when the main couple has a power imbalance that involves one person trying to appease the other, who tends to exert their own will a lot. I know this story is about how they gradually go from that state to one of mutual caring, but it's draaaaaaaggging and it means I'm finding half of their interactions irritating rather than enjoyable. I don't have the patience to see if this story ever fully makes them equal (it may, but it will take a while, and I'm not confident it won't maintain some ML overbearingbess for the "humour" etc.).

The novel that the MC has transmigrated into is repetitive and full of annoying characters, and therefore we have to see this story play out. New characters pop up to get in our MC's way and make completing her system tasks harder. Because the author is low-key making fun of how inane the type of novel that the MC has transmigrated into is, the characters are inane and annoying. Where they're not, they're still hindering the MC in some irritating way and I'm just starting to find it more and more tiresome. A lot of the "humour" is based around people being irritating or foolish (including the main characters at times), and even when it allows one of the main couple to be clever or original, the situations low-key grate on me rather than make me laugh. I don't actually care about any of these characters the system is making her help, and that's a big problem.

I liked the MC well enough to consider continuing, but I know that I have low tolerance for the things mentioned above and they are clearly going to persist for most of the story. There is potential here for the story to become more compelling and interesting with the development of the main couple's relationship and the continuing implications of their backstories, but I'm not sure how long it will take to grow of out it's repetitively annoying stage, or if it ever will.

It might be worth sticking around to find out, I just don't have the patience to.

This is surprisingly really good! It's a Very enjoyable and fun read but I'm not gonna delve into the plot since I came here for romance im gonna talk abt the romance

Shen wanqing our FL has a carefree personality and everything she does and thoughts really makes you laughed out loud sometimes but what I really love about her is her morality, she did not deny her feelings for falling in love with the villain instead she protects and stand on his side and even helps him with the mu*ders... more>>

Xie Wuyan our ML is the classic villain with tragic backstory according to the original author but he's not the villain in this book. Enuf said!

I really really love the dynamics between them! They're so hilarious together and also the sweetest like no one would love them the way they love each others. They would literally die for each other and it's so touching and that's what makes me love this book so much

there were a bit of angst from each arc and also bc of what happened to our MCs like I really used all my energy of holding back my tears bc I was reading in public yet I failed miserably, thankfully its not that long but it truly make you feel bitter but the ending is really sweet so I'm saved <<less

A lot of review said that this is similar to "the guide of capturing the black lotus". But, in my opinion this is more like "offering salt fish to master".

The only resemble with the black lotus was only the opening, except for that the whole story more like salt fish. But even if I said it's similar, it's not like it's copycat or anything. But more like the whole reason I like "offering salt fish to master", I could also found it here.

The ML has high EQ, know where to... more>> push but also where to retreat (or the bad synonym of it = manipulative lol). He silently protect the MC. And the MC also had high EQ and knew how to use her advanced to get what she want.

It's been awhile since I read the novel, but I remember had a very good feeling about it. After all if you like salt fish you would most likely like this novel too <<less

***4.5***

I truly enjoyed this novel and leads' adventure. This reminds me alot of "The Guide to Capturing a Black Lotus".

Shen Wanqing (FL) was so funny, I liked her personality and logic especially on her analogy about "self-righteousness" of other characters. I also liked her funny banter with Xie Wuyuan (ML) who was low-key tsundere but got ways to dote FL.

MC's relationship to OG leads who were actually good characters was commendable. Some supporting roles got depth and the discussion about "selfishness vs righteousness". However, the most hateful existence here... more>> was SYSTEM (they made my blood boiled).

For me the cons here...

Spoiler

メ Further depth and explanation on world sytem and FL. Isn't she need to hop on 5yrs to other world if she completed task? So what should happened next.

メ The arc of Princess/Marquis was open-ending and what happened to them after.

メ Some questions left unanswered.

メ Extra chapters are unneccessary, should have used chapters for future, etc.

Each character had miserable fate and each arch also quite dark but this novel had perfect comedic timing to alleviate the story. The lead character was my favorites. Shen Wanqing afraid of death but it had not deterred her for enjoying her second chance in life. She knew the real identity of Xie Wuyuan and helpless because she was far weaker than him so she had devil may care attitude and unexpectedly it was the thing that make he fall for her.

Xie Wuyuan also was the perfect tsundere. He was... more>> cruel and softened only to her. He was also her man-in-shining-armor. He jealous easily but he never hurt her.

I read the Black Lotus previously but I like this story better because the characterization of the lead are to my taste and the story also more captivating. <<less

I REALLY LOVE THIS NOVEL!!

At first, I was a bit sceptic if I should read it but when I did oh boy did I like it much more than I thought I would.

I love how there's detailed background for most characters, even if they're not very likeable characters, their parts always ends with a little background that shares their story. Through those stories, readers will realize just how tragic this world is, not just to our FL and ML but even to normal people. But I do feel especially bad... more>> for our main couple because in shorter terms, they were both born just to be sacrificed and used by other people in the name of "the greater good". They were labeled as villainous for being selfish and wanting to live for their own without people knowing that they've been running away from being treated as live stocks. I won't explain any further because that's the main gist of their story.

I also love our main couple's chemistry omg they're so cute! If you're curious, just read it hehe

Another thing that surprised me is that the ogML and ogFL are actually likeable characters and are people worthy of being titled as the story's protagonists. I love how by being connected to our FL, they gradually started to change too and by the end of it, it's as if they've been woken from their rose tinted glasses and could now finally see that not everyone is doing good just by saying that it's for the "good", they've gone through a lot of character developments because of FL and I really like that.

So overall, I REALLY RECOMMEND THIS NOVEL. It also wasn't too long, I finished it in two days max. I ASSURE YOU FL WILL MAKE YOU STAY SHE'S SO HILARIOUS XD. <<less

What a GEM! Highly highly recommended if you’re looking for a great controversial short story type fix! It’s a hilarious mix of shamelessness and interesting characters!

The storyline is quite interesting with various character’s tragic backstories and moral grey lines.

The FL... FINALLY another “black bellied” FL. The FL is sweet/ innocent yet cruel and decisive at the same time. The perfect representation of a selfish human that’s living her life at her own rules and for her own self. Moral kidnapping don’t work on her. Then again, she’s backed by the... more>> powerful ML. So, she has the privilege of doing so and carry out her way of thought. The author has created this AMAZING character and she is hilariously shameless (and she knows it).

Some story holes:

Spoiler

Why is the FL so at ease about killing... if you put a normal person in her shoes, there should be some adaptation period.

How did the FL turn from a weakling to an OP Queen after the big incident. It wasn’t really well explained, just vaguely glossed over about how she got a power boost.

and a few more but I forgot hehe

Anaywyas, a really good read that’d I’d highly recommend! <<less

Is it love at first sight? No, but you can tell ML has a soft spot for MC. She is not OP... partly since she has some kind of hidden special skill but it consumes her soul so... 🤷

The weird thing is that MC, a modern transmigrator, can kill people without care. She's a bit heartless, plus the world to her is in a novel, but killing like that suggests she's originally a sociopath. Not a very big deal for me tho as she's not unreasonable and still conversing normally.

After... more>> around 45 chapters, I started to feel bored. There are character development, we know about ML's past, et cetera but still I don't feel like finishing the novel at all. <<less
