With this, he starts various businesses: he can become what the clients wanted as long as he got paid enough. The business of Xiao Yuan’s was booming. He earned a lot of money, and big shots from all walks of life came to him admiringly. Then…

Junior Brother: Oh, I will never let Senior Brother leave me again!

Pavilion Master: Xiao Yuan, do you want me to take out my heart to show it to you?!

Demon Lord: What do I need to do for baby to forgive me, how about I let you bully me back?

Wife chasing crematorium burning all over the world, Xiao Yuan smiles: Don’t ask, asking means you’ve never loved before.

How the hell did I miss this gem? I have tried to get all xianxia bls to read and never have I ever came across this one. My bad and it's complete too 🥲🥲. Anyways, good plot, understandable characters and although I haven't finished reading, I hope it has a satisfying ending.

MC kind of gives off the same vibes as Fang Ci, the MC from another amazing novel [I think its Title is I Really Didn't Abandon My Familiar] although Fang Ci was super powerful.

Anyways, I loved this story! Please... more>> go ahead and try it 👍👍👍 <<less

This story was really good and the rebirth was explained very well. The characters are not so black and white, some are more forgivable while others aren’t.

Master

Spoiler

Master saw the future where MC dies, so he uses a part of his soul to act as MC’s system. The plot that MC is forced to go through was his original life trajectorybut because he though he was following a story plot, his perspective changed and he was able to separate his feelings. His master saved his life while risking his life. MC also reconciles with him and they get along well.

Junior

Spoiler

He’s just a bear child who didn’t understand how much his actions hurt MC. I forgave him because he understood the consequences of his actions later and did his best to make it up to MC. Honestly, I couldn’t hate him because most of us have made mistakes as kids, and MC also forgives him.

[collapse]

Demon Sect Leader

Spoiler

He is MC’s actual brother. He regrets his past actions, but he did truly want to protect MC. He put some sort of life protecting spell which transfers MC’s wounds to himself before realizing his feelings, and MC also does kill him though his subordinates bring him back to life. MC doesn’t forgive him.

[collapse]

Love Interest

Spoiler

He really did love MC and wanted to marry him. He truly did believe MC but was helpless with the given circumstances. He did want to avenge MC and MC ends up forgiving him and falling for him.

MC master

Spoiler

He’s actually ML’s true dad, but he was a split soul. I felt bad for him and his wife even more, but I’m glad he was finally recognized by ML.

It was truly a unique story with a lot of plot twists, but I loved how it ended! <<less

These are few things that I think why this story still feel short from being a masterpiece:

Although the beginning (the "dogblood part") is indeed different from other crematorium shou, I think the "chasing part" is mostly the same formula.

Spoiler

In the beginning, the protagonist was forced to be "kind and obedient" so he has never really put much heart in most things. This make the dogblood part less "hurting" and easy to go through for anyone who usually can't stand it.

Moreover, his "love interests" who are more than one person have a variety of all cliche backgrounds which make it more exciting.

(They are: master/shizun, lord of evil/demonic sect, one of the most promising youth from righteous faction, and his shidi)

However in the "chasing part" it was more or less the same. Although the protagonist should be more uncaring, it was pretty clear to me that he hold too much grudge for someone who faking their past action. I thought it would be cooler if he's more indifferent, but half of it is just him being dense and ignorance of other's feeling.

[collapse]

Protagonist's personality is not bland, but unfortunately is still blander than his appearance. If it's not for his good looks, no one will get obsessed so much. Appearance is still a legit reason, but it's still a shame for such a good potential.

Lastly, sometimes I low-key think that Xiao Yuan doesn't deserve to get all the fervent love.

Those who did one much harms doesn't deserve to have that person, but those who has never been caring also doesn't deserve to get all the sincerity.

I feel pitiful towards the shou for being treated badly, but I also feel pitiful towards the gongs who fell for this person who never really thinking about them either. So I'm not standing in either camp.

I don't dislike the protaganist, I just think that the author can use him better for delivering the irony of crematorium story. I thought this will be a kind of parody.

~

Overall the plot is really interesting and the world building quite solid too. Many things feel fresh since this is a crematorium with harem in the cultivation setting. Never find anything like this. So I still greatly recommended this. <<less

Have come to admire this author greatly. Although this work is less intense than Married Thrice, it shares its simple yet complex storytelling. Also enjoy how the author doesn’t use the beauty trope in vain and doesn’t assume the reader is easily satisfied by easy fluff. Happiness comes at a price.

The plot gets 5 stars (I couldn't stop reading), but I hate the coupling. I almost quit reading 1/3 of the way through when I realized the way the wind was blowing, but was too curious about the mystery. I ended up reading the ending and then gritting my teeth through another 80% of the book (and the increasingly infuriating romance).

It's so arbitrary how much he hates one person versus the other, and is willing to forgive in one person versus the other. But I guess that's the point of... more>> the author makes. No matter how s*upid a person is being, if they refuse to accept someone's love, no matter how wonderful and perfect and self sacrificing that someone is, then that's not a relationship.

You can't force a person into a relationship, even if that relationship makes the most sense. Even if you've gone through death for them. It's so sad, I hate harem stories, but I wish this had been a harem. Or that there had been some side couples to relieve my grief. <<less

Besides the step brother being the main s*umbag. I find the other 2 okay with what they did in hurting MC. ML had to choose to save him, Shidi just have a bad mouth tsundere.

I find MC ruthless and indifference fascinating especially in the middle when he plan to kill that person, I was shocked and applauded.

The MCs smart mouth made me laugh alot with the things he said. Comedy was great.

... more>> Everything is never what it seems at first look in the novel. Chapters are short but very on point.

I love the side characters too, the MCs face changing skills is so good, it brings special moments into the novel.

The novel gives you a different vibe to other Xianxias. Very enjoyable read. <<less

It was an amazing read. It's been a long time since I write a review and as soon as I finished this novel, I ran back here to write this lmao.

The author really fleshed the characters so well they felt almost real. They're complex and it always gave me such mixed feelings when reading. And I was quite surprised bcs surprisingly, this novel had a much deep plot.

This novel was sooo good as it is hurt. I cried a lot reading this. The MC's actions, feelings, how he behaves and... more>> all are so realistic it almost made me clutch my heart in pain.

The only thing that make me only give this novel a 4 star is bcs:

Spoiler

Because of Gu Louyin. Don't misunderstand, I know that the ML is good to MC, always take MC feelings in consideration and genuinely care for MC. And I know the reason why he had to take MC's blood for Lin-whatever-his-name-is, but the action was done and we can't do anything about it, I can't just pass that knowing his action still bring harm to MC back then and heck, MC's reaction is too painful for me to read it. So I was a bit disappointed when I know he is the ML. I still feel that this novel is better off without an ML. Though the author doesn't seem to have the same idea. The MC may not, but I hold grudge and am a fickle person😂, I won't deny that I'm a bit biased to MC🤷🏻‍♀️

[collapse]

All in all, it is still quite an enjoyable read. So don't hesitate much and dive into this guys <<less

I honestly do not see the appeal in this novel at all. I can't bring myself to finish it.

ML (endgame spoiler) :

Spoiler

Context: There are three MLs in this story. The ones mentioned in the synopsis, the demon lord, pavilion master, and junior brother. To be so real with you right now right now I dont even want to call the demon lord and the junior brother "mls", but thats just personal beef I have with them! The pavilion master is endgame.

[collapse]

What the mls have done, and their role in the "crematorium chasing":

Honestly I already forgot half of what they did because I really couldn't care enough so here's the gist of everything. I may be wrong.

Demon Lord:

Spoiler

Basically mistook the MC for his little brother, and when he found out that he wasn't, locked him up and held him captive. Then planted a gu in the mc's body that makes him go into heat once a month purely because he's a sadistic a**hole, and then sent him to basically seduce another man. knowing that he can't retaliate because only thye had the antidote for the gu. The MC couldn't do anything to retaliate because of a system he was bound to forbade him from doing so (he gets unbound to it at the start of the crematorium chasing) and kinda just had to play doll for the demon lord. Main character jumps off a cliff and then plays dead for three years after the system is unbound, and then gets discoverd (kind of) and is forced back into the male leads' lives. The demon lord's suffering literally just consists of him being given the cold shoulder after forcing the MC to stay along by his side again and the MC stabbing his heart at the end. (though he didn't really die. the bit*h actually came back from that.) Oh and before that, the male lead finds out that the MC actually IS his blood brother, and then is basically head over heels.

Firstly, let's talk about how weird this behavior is. Ignoring how this is basically in*est (this fact is glossed over), the demon lord is just obsessed with the fact of having a blood brother. It doesnt matter who the f*ck it is, as long as you're his blood brother. He admits that he was falling for the ML and that he was his weakness, but during that period, he still treated the MC like sh*t just because they weren't blood brothers. ???????? thats so weird...

AND DURING A CERTAIN ARC. The demon lord basically nurtures a younger fragment of the mc's soul to be intimate with him? So, he's into in*est and pe*ophilia...?? erm. I'll stop here for now. I think this is enough to see why I can't even acknowledge him as a male lead.

[collapse]

Pavilion Master:

Spoiler

I'm going to start off by saying that bro is a victim. Someone free this man. He does not deserve any of this. He did nothing. wrong. He was the one that the Demon Lord sent the MC to seduce, and basically took the MC back to his residence after the MC orchestrated a planned "savior act" to have him indebted to the MC. The MC was the one who asked him to take him back to his place. A few months later (i think?), the MC was framed for poisoning one of the people from his sect. The only cure was a really rare herb, but the MC just so happens to have a gu in his body that was made with this herb. The "bad thing" he did to the MC was draw tons of his blood for ten days straight, to try to cure the poisoned sect member. Actually, not even that. The only reason why the MC held so much resentment towards him was becaus he didn't actually help him prove his innocence when he was framed. WHICH IS HONESTLY SO DUMB? like. This novel advertises the MC as rational and never straying from his morals but. this is just straight up immature, taking in to consideration how much the pavilion master suffered.

The only reason why the pavilion master didn't prove his innocence was because he COULN'T. He already appealed to his father, and his father only gave him two options: to pretty much cut out the mc's heart (which contained the gu), or to draw an insane amount of blood out of him. The pavilion master, of course, not wanting the MC to die, chose the latter. (The MC later complains about him maknig the decision FOR him but like. be so fr. you did not want to die at all. are you telling me you would've let him carve out your heart?) The pavilion master then spent five days hopefully looking for evidence that supports the mc's innocense, and another five to frantially search for the herb that could cure the sect member, so that he wouldn't have to draw out blood from the MC anymore. Right after he thought that everything would be over for now, the MC "commits su*cide", and plays dead for three years.

He then refuses to believe the MC is dead, and starts to aimlessly search for him nonstop. He finally recognizes someone that seems like the MC and is dead set on it being him, and that he is alive. (it was the MC, he had a face changing thing that allowed him to assume differen't identities). After he finally calmed himself down and thought the MC was finally back, they found the (fake) corpse of the MC, causing him to basically lose himself again. His sect tries to use the mc's "ashes" to cure another (because of the gu again, since someone got poisoned again apparently), and the ML does everything to fight back and became demonized, consequently shortening his lifespan by a dangerous amount. He gets disowned, and then went into closed cultivation, trapped in his own delusions and trying to summon the mc's soul to finally let himself go (which he kind of couldn't do, since that wasn't the mc's ashes and the MC was still alive). That's the gist of where I got to.

First, why is he so infatuated with the mc? They met for like a few months. and you're telling me he basically ruined himself for him? Like, just get over it. It really isn't that serious. He's known for being cold to others but in such a short amount of time, he became so head over heels for the mc? Like sure he's pretty and "not like other beauties" but thats a really shallow reason... And I guess he did save him? But thats still..

During this whole situation, the MC just sat watching him drown himself in remorse and going down a path of no return. FOR HIM. Didn't even bat half an eye. All because he didn't prove his innocence or clear his name three years ago and took his blood for ten days out of his own will. okay.

Later in the story, the MC sees himself falling for the pavilion master but is reluctant because he's the blood child of the guy that basically ruined his family. To start, we already established at this point of the story that the pavilion master was treated with neglect his whole life? Because his father hated him for some reason? (I didn't get far enough in the story to know why, but). And he already got disowned? You two basically went against his father directly and you're still basing your feelings off a familial connection. Honestly, the MC is kind of slowly growing to be the person he hates, the demon lord.

The pavilion master did nothing wrong. His character is also extremely moral, and values consent over all. I'll stand by my point. I'll end this here before I get way off track.

[collapse]

Junior Brother:

Spoiler

Honestly.. he was just really annoying. Other than that, he doesn't really do anything? uhm. That doesn't stop me from hating his character though, he was REALLY annoying.

Demon lord basically crippled him and he can barely use his hands to do basic tasks now. His "suffering" was also just the cold shoulder. In a way, he also suffered the least? MC wasn't really that cold to him either.. his "suffering" was just implimented by the demon lord out of jealousy.

I just have beef with this guy because he throws a fit every minute or two out of absolutely nothing. The MC would talk to someone other than him and he'd be screaming his ass off.

[collapse]

Maybe its all because I just don't see the appeal? To be honest, this is a bit different from what I normally read, so I'm not surprised if this is all just me nitpicking or being extremely biased. But, I still stand by everything I say regardless. <<less

A very entertaining read! It was very melodramatic overall, but had its share of very real and human moments. It's a bit all-over-the-place in terms of the plot, and it felt like the author may not have fully planned out all of the plot developments from the start, but it was still a good read. There were some really great, unexpected moments of character growth and exploration that I enjoyed, and it had some really funny and touching moments woven into the drama. It's not a masterpiece of writing in... more>> terms of the worldbuilding and plot, but if you're here for interpersonal relationships, feelings and drama then buckle in!

Also, it's the closest example I've seen so far of a Chinese web novel where the main character could be classified on the asexual/aromantic spectrum, as he only experiences romantic and s*xual attraction incredibly rarely, which is refreshing, and a lot of his commentary and remarks reacting to how sex/love-crazy others are were very relatable. <<less

At chapter 70, I can't bring myself to keep reading this. Firstly it's just gotten boring, nothing is going anywhere. The same struggle keeps continuing even with changes. The MC doesn't care about the results of his mistake and actions, while blaming everyone for their mistakes. People keep doing things that make no sense, and no explanations and clues have been given yet, I can't drag myself through 40 more chapters of this.

And now, the biggest problem I have with this:

Spoiler

The ML did nothing wrong!!! He was in a situation where either he had to hurt the MC by taking blood from him or let him die, and of course he didn't want him to die. And even then, he got the medicine to fix the problem as soon as he could! He literally did all he could, there was no other choice. And this was all while the MC was lying to him to steal an artifact from his sect.

Even when the MC found out the truth of why the ML had to take his blood, and the ML told him that he wouldn't do anything to him if he was alive (the MC was pretending to be dead) the MC kept his mouth shut. When the ML went crazy because he thought the MC was dead, the MC didn't do anything. He knew at this point that the ML had done nothing wrong to him, and cared for him, he still did nothing. INFACT he went to use the ML again, pretending to be a spirit and asking the ML to steal the artifact.

And the most questionable thing is, why the f*ck did the ML even love the MC??? Because they spent very little time together. Only about a month. How did he come to love him enough to leave his sect, and go crazy (which also was draining his life).

[collapse]

I really don't understand all the good reviews of this. To someone who genuinely liked this: Would you mind explaining why you liked it? <<less

MC born with voice in head telling him not to trust anyone else, and forcing him to do actions such as please his obnoxious shidi, act affectionate to the demon lord, and follow the demon lord's instructions to seduce a cold hearted ascetic sword master.

Strengths

  • MC is cool. He’s quite cold, detached, and greatly values his freedom and interests. He hates being controlled and FOLLOWS THROUGH with dishing out justice to the s*um MLs... including even stabbing and killing demonlord ML.
  • Fun and simple read - mainly to watch MC's cold and playful antics, leading the MLs around by the nose, and to see who MC ends up with!
  • MC delivers some good justice and faceslapping - MAJOR SPOILERS
    Spoiler

MAJOR SPLOILERS killing demonlord ML who planned on trapping him, doesn't regret it, and tells this ML how f*cked up and selfish ML was, and that he doesn't want his heart, that he doesn't care, and won't ever change his mind despite any new actions. Very satisfying. For the other shidi ML, he also explicitly says no that he doesn't like him and that he is obnoxious

    [collapse]
Weaknesses

  • MC is fairly sharp EXCEPT for romance... spends quite a lot of time being naive and ignorant of all the MLs feelings.
  • Excessive description of MC and MLs being ethereally beautiful, blossoming faces, autumn eyes etc.
  • Starts off fairly strong but slows down in the middle
  • Everyone good loves MC. MC is protected and pampered by his OP MLs, and from the middle onwards, doesn't do much aside from trying to shake off the MLs - but maybe that's the point?
  • ML is a bit flat. He seems righteous and cold, and all he does is love MC and feel trauma at the reminder of MC's death
    Spoiler

to the point that he demonises and sacrifices his lifespan to gain power and slaughters others (where was the justice for the dead innocents?).

    [collapse]
I don’t sense any particular chemistry between them. MC effectively just falls for ML's face.
  • Disappointing that there was no 'switch' -
    Spoiler

MC plans on topping ML following the transfer of the aphrodisiac/heat curse from MC to ML - but ofc (eye roll) it just ends up that MC is rolled around in bed more

    [collapse]
  • Cultivation clearly just used as an easy placeholder background to the world, limited details in the world building
  • Face-slapping and defeating the villains is too simplistic and delivered too cleanly - there are no stakes. Everyone good supports MC and ML, the villains are so bland and bad. The final ‘fight’ is underwhelming and detracts from the story
    Spoiler

basically they stage a plan to ambush the villains (including disciples who were unwittingly roped in?) and kill them... and then everybody clapped. For someone so 'righteous' I don't see anyone sad or regretful at the countless lives lost in the clan battle finale...

Firstly, AMAZING translation. Gold tier, applause-worthy, excellent. Onto the novel, while skimming through reviews on NU, I accidentally glimpsed who the ML would eventually be. Nevertheless, despite knowing this, my enthusiasm wasn't dampened in the slightest. Even if I hadn't known, I would have shipped the ship that eventually sailed.

Coming to the plot, there are loopholes and some things don't make sense but are easy to overlook. Eventually, though, the author ties the loose ends and everything comes together.

I love 比卡比's style and ability to flesh out characters, including side characters and antagonists. I hope they write more stories.

The romance, in this book, is interesting but there are some things that left me feeling uncomfortable.
Spoiler

For instance, I couldn't understand why the MLs (especially Xiao Du and MYY) were crazed about the MC. I understand GLY's obsession, but it feels like some information was missing when it comes to the other two. The six months leading up to when the story begins are not explained and perhaps that's when XD developed his obsession but, for the life of me, I couldn't understand MYY's point of view. Also, while MYY was annoying and controlling, he wasn't as disappointing as the other two MLs.

[collapse]

I also wasn't entirely sympathetic
Spoiler

with the MC's attitude towards his shidi.

[collapse]

I also feel that the chosen ML
Spoiler

suffered way too much and I'm not entirely sure if it was necessary for him to go through that.

[collapse]

Nevertheless, the story is un-put-downable. I binged read it within two days straight and couldn't stop until the end.

Finally, and I must say this. While this story is interesting, it doesn't hold a candle to

'Married thrice to a salted fish'. Even though both books share the same author, there is a huge difference between the two.

MTL to chapter 43, readability 80%.

It felt like the pace was moving too fast and to abrupt.

The logic and reasoning was okay, however the characters feelings was changing and vague, it's like the author wanted readers to keep guessing who was the ML and MC background story.

It's no different plot than any other novel of same genre.

Rating 7 out of 10.

At first it was interesting, but on chapter 44 I decided to quit. I just got bored. The main character doesn't really do anything. He's squeaking from hand to hand. Yes, he's cold and smart enough, so what? Maybe the revenge will continue, but I'm tired. And I'm also sorry for Gu, he didn't really do anything wrong. The main character initially deceived him, but for some reason he is offended now.

So it’s not bad. Honestly it was a lot more interesting and deep than I thought it would be.

Of course there were some things that bothered me, such as Xiao Du and his weird sense of brotherhood/possession, Mu Yingyang and his tough mouth but soft heart, and even at some points the ML.

However, I was ultimately happy that the ML was who it ended up being because as the story went on I became more and more sick of the other 2 characters and prayed they wouldn’t be the ML.

I... more>> really like the MC. It’s refreshing to have the classic beauty with none of the classic attitude. He wasn’t the cold and arrogant beauty or the stoic and dull beauty. He was boisterous, hateful and mad annoying lmfao but in all the ways that makes him fun rather than annoying. I really loved him and felt pained for him. I also understood every move he made and was completely happy he wasn’t the quick to forgive righteous to a fault and justice seeking type of MC.

I’ll give this a 3.5 on the high end because although there were some places and points that could have been better written (i.e the final battle with Gu Hang— definitely anticlimactic and could have been more interesting) but ultimately it was still an interesting read that kept you guessing.

I was just glad that in the end, his Shizun wasn’t actually abandoning him but saving him instead. <<less

One word: Disappointing.

I'm super conflicted about this book because I really like Bi ka bi's style of writing and a lot of the characters in this novel, but I hated the direction the story went in halfway through and I almost dnf it twice. I do not blame anyone who did not finish it because though it's attention grabbing, it's not an easy read at all. I'm disheartened because I genuinely loved the first 1~40 chapters, and it was fun guessing who the ML was going to be. It becomes... more>> pretty obvious early on, but the author definitely tries to trick you often. I even enjoyed the storytelling and the twists and turns.

Anyways, there are more things I disliked about this book than I liked about it as I read, and that is why I'm rating it 3/5. I think it's definitely a matter of taste though—I simply did not like the endgame ML after a certain point, nor did I like the MC either. Even if I enjoy crematorium novels, the MC in this one went way overboard with his vindictiveness. I supported him at first but he took it way too far with two of the MLs. He went from my favourite to my least favourite in only a few chapters. I really wanted to know what happened to the MC's shizun though, and that's why I stuck around to the end for better or worse.

What it boils down to is this: You'll love it if you like the endgame ML and CP. If you don't, then you basically wasted your time reading because even the plot falls hard at the end. So if you love boring, devoted, possessive, jealous, s*x maniac, overpowered, unparalleled looks ML x ruthless, coquettish, bratty, intelligent, spoiled young master MC then look no further. Unfortunately it just wasn't my vibe since they had zero chemistry.

Now I need to vent about some of these characters:

MC/Xiao Yuan:

Spoiler

Loved him initially but gradually began to dislike him since he has everything at his fingertips all the time and gets to be as mean as he likes to anyone. (Seriously he treats some of the side characters like garbage) And when you look at his actions, what do you know, he is just a miniature version of Xiao Du! They are true brothers! He had his cultivation seriously depleted but then somehow still ended up OP too. I stopped liking him completely at around ch. 80 when he suddenly decided he loved GLY after acting clueless about the man's obvious feelings for him for the entire book. And the whole thing where he couldn't be with GLY if GLY was the son of Gu Hang, his mother's mu*derer, was so s*upid because nothing ever stopped Xiao Yuan from doing whatever the hell he wanted before? Why you suddenly care about your family now when all you did was say you don't give a crap about anyone, ah? I'm sorry but that was so dumb. My biggest hang up with Xiao Yuan is the way he treated MYY though. Seriously, he ended up treating Xiao Du, who was the worst to him out of everyone, better than his shidi which is so fcked up I had to laugh. Also, he pretty much admits to just being biased towards GLY at the end when it comes to the crematorium stuff like 'Lol its just because I like him I can forgive him but I cant forgive anyone else bye b*tch.' Normally a protagonist like this would be refreshing, but after everything I just couldn't bring myself to like XY. I really tried to like this kid, but he made it impossible, I don't see why all these men love him when he's just a fcking a*hole with a pretty face.

GLY:

GLY I also liked a lot in the beginning because while he was aloof, he wasn't a total a-hole like so many other MLs are and I found that refreshing. (Oh, how naive I was!) As for his crime... seriously you will ask yourself if GLY truly deserved what he got (spoiler: he didn't. he barely did anything wrong. It was XY who fcked him over.)
Spoiler

I don't even know why GLY fell for XY so hard, because they were only together for a month solving one s*upid mystery case before he became unhealthily obsessed with him because of his looks so it’s very shallow. GLY then goes through so many changes physically and mentally that I stopped liking him completely. He became so boring with zero personality outside of loving XY. He's literally a carbon copy of Lan Wangji, and if I had known his character was going to take a nosedive in that direction I wouldn't have bothered to read this. Also, his and XY's relationship felt lackluster and unappealing imo. Yeah they had moments of mutual attraction that led up to it, but there was nothing that made it feel like genuine love as in 'I love this person for who they are, not just their pretty face'. Suddenly they were just two peas in a pod out of nowhere and couldn't be away from each other. Don’t get me wrong, even if I liked the other MLs more, GLY was definitely the best match for XY overall, it’s just that he became boring as hell and only wanted to fck him all the time so it felt like I waited for nothing once they got together. Initially he was trying to respect XY's autonomy which I liked, but then they got together and all of that went out the window when they were boinking; GLY would basically just do it while XY is sleeping too and quote: “whether he wanted to or not” ????? Literally the book seemed to be about the MC choosing the one person that respected his freedom of choice, only for that person to turn around and be exactly like the other MLs, just quieter about it. Smh!!! I just can’t bring myself to ship them I’m sorry dear author!

Xiao Du:

I am a villain-fcker so I loved this dude from the beginning. He s**ked for sure though, and I completely understand why everyone else hates him.
Spoiler

When he "died" I nearly dropped the book though because I loved him so much lmao. Not much to say other than he dug his own grave so he was lucky that XY forgave his ass in the end. Xiao du just come to me~ This reader will love you~

Mu YingYang:

Justice for this kid. MYY is unfairly treated the whole book just because he has a knife mouth and was mean to the MC?? Of course he’s gonna be a bratty little brother hello? That’s what little brothers do?
Spoiler

Xiao Yuan, you already were mean to him as payback so many times, why are you still holding a grudge even after he changed after so long??? And he did nothing remotely bad compared to what the ML and XD did! Taking your blood and implanting parasites is just as bad as having a knife mouth? Sure he’s annoying but come on, he didn't deserve what happened to him over being annoying. Normally I don't even care for tsunderes but I couldn't help loving/empathizing with this poor shidi.

In the end, this book is heavily eclipsed by Married Thrice to Salted Fish several times over, but the author is definitely talented and knows how to craft the story they want to tell. If you think you can handle it, give it a go! <<less

All the characters are grey, neither black or white.

I like Gu Louyin though his obsession for MC seems a lil abrupt and baffling to me.

All the MLs look like they fell for Mc's beauty, shallow but m'kay, tis is the reality anyways and I'm not gonna complain, cuz I'm pretty shallow too and I kinda have a face-con.

MC's choices in not liking any of the MLs we're extremely reasonable and he didn't owe any of them anything but they like to obsess over him which is so undesirable. The only... more>> one I can tolerate is Gu Louyin bc out of them all, he is the most respectful to MC (plus he got cheated of his own feelings if you think about it cuz MC didn't clarify it to him and was always being ambiguous with him despite it being a mission or whatever) anyways, it's me tryna defend GLY but yh, both sides are in the wrong which is why the characters are all grey which I like, it's hard to pin the blame solely on one person.

Xiao Du is a prick and deserves to die, like wtf is wrong with him?? Beyond disgusting how he wants to keep MC and treat him like shit.

And the tsundere junior brother is annoying asf. I personally have an extreme dislike for tsundere-personality type characters and his stubbornness for MC irritated me.

Overall, 3 stars cuz it was enjoyable as it was but I got bored of it now. <<less

This novel manages to capture my attention and made me binged from the beginning to the end without getting bored. I like the MC's character and personality although I don't always agree with his thoughts. It feels refreshing to see a MC like this, so decisive, open-minded, and easygoing. About the ML, I'm glad about the guy who manages to end up with the MC as well, although honestly the MC's harem annoys me at some point from how obsessive and infatuated they are. The plot itself is also pretty... more>> cohesive and interesting. Its mystery that's getting unrevealed step by step manages to make me keep reading until the end. Another plus point is I like how this novel has a 'moral' message, which is about the MC making his own destiny despite what's originally written for him, and I like how independent and decisive he is.

Overall it's a good and enjoyable read! <<less
