Two families’ children were switched at birth. One of the families is a household that does business, and the other is a household of a marquis. There is a vast difference in status.

Unfortunately, Yu Xiang transmigrated as a person that was originally from a business household and was brought up in marquis’s residence. As soon as she arrived, the truth about her lineage was exposed, her legs were disabled, and she was still bearing the reputation of “the unlucky star”. In desperation, she had to hug her elder brother’s thigh firmly and attempt to live her days first. When the original daughter of the marquis’s family returns, Yu Xiang will return the position to her.

A few years later, the original daughter returned, Yu Xiang was prepared to leave, but she found that her technique of holding his thighs was too professional. Her older brother refused to let her go!

The marquis concealed his smile with the wine cup: How can his pampered wife, that grew up with him, leave whenever she wants?

It was a really fun read.

I really quite dislike the main character though. She's very arrogant, unlikeable and self-righteous. Oh she's not an outlier I think I dislike most characters in this story (and the usual batsh*t crazy ancient China morals). It doesn't detract too much from the appeal though, still a really fun story.

I think my favourite character was her maid Liu Lu, who ... more>>

was having absolutely justified panic attacks and moral conundrums about her (terrifying) Lord apparently mol*sting her (also terrifying) mistress, whom at this point she fully thought was his bio little sister.

And the dude has, like, no qualms whatsoever being caught in the act.

Good thing she didn't implode from the stress. <<less

HI! I love this novel.

I've read it twice, because it's THAT good. The plot stays fresh in my mind, bc I love the interactions between male and female lead. Male lead literally FOLDS for female lead, and she does the same for him.

The underlying reason behind why I like it sm, is bc the novel talks quite a lot about underlying intentions behind actions. Like, they talk about how the emperor wants a powerful, 'lone official' typa family to back him up so that he doesn't get betrayed. It really... more>> highlights the difference is social standings of the past, and I absolutely love being able to, like, idk, pretend I'm at the top of the hierarchy like the female lead is.

In a way, this is an entire salt fic against our female antagonist, and I love it. <<less

Read it all and I really liked it.

I like this type of possessive love where both the ML and MC only think about each other, even being jealous at mere friends.

The MC is also exceptional : mature, veryyyy smart, beautiful etc.

I also liked that she had unconditional supports from some members of the family.

The ML is also great : handsome, possessive, supportive.

However for that last point, I would say I would'have sometimes liked him to be more supportive of household affairs.

The MC is handicaped, ... more>>
Spoiler

is not the real daughter of the house

[collapse]
, disliked yet while he was there multiple times, in the end 80% of the time it was her who was the mind of it all and I would'have liked him to be even more supportive.

Examples :
Spoiler

Yu si Yu did horrible things to Xiang, yet apart from one time she had to beg in order to escape a wedding, she never had any punishments and it did make me angry. Also the mother, I can't even count the number of things her and her daughter did badly but it seemed so looonng for them to be punished.

[collapse]

So honestly it was very good but the only point that could have made it a gem is the ML being even more present and also resolving more things for her
Spoiler

although he did sometimes, like investigating the real past of the daughter etc.

[collapse]

I also wanted more peaceful times which were a bit too far to me. But I still really recommend reading this.

Sorry for my grammatical mistakes it's not my primary langage. <<less

Came back to reread again, and am surprised I haven't left a review yet.

Quick summation from when I stuck this novel on my "Yandere Male Leads" list:

I actually really like the relationship between the leads. If she weren't mentally older than she is physically (and acts mentally older, like mature), it would creep me out a bit. But since she was in her 20s before and had a bad past life a bit, I'm all for her getting a happy ending with the ml--who borders the line of creepy yandere,... more>> I think.

Longer review:

The seemingly random first two chapters is never explained, other than it gives MC a reason to immediately feel close to the ml, and to give a reason for why she reincarnated where she did. But boy
Spoiler

do I hate her original life chromosome donor. That lady doesn't deserve the title of 'mother'. I do feel a bit bad for her original older brother though... he was busy dying and didn't have a say in anything.

[collapse]

It's also an interesting concept to me that our MC, Yu Xiang, had only read a couple chapters of the book she transmigrates into. So she knows the beginning of how things start, but nothing later. This is partly what leads Yu Xiang to decide that it doesn't matter the ending of the original story; she's here now and going to live life her way. And that's refreshing, considering how many transmigration stories they try to stick close to the original plot.

I also like how this is one of the few 'switched at birth' novels I can think of that is like "hey, so... letting people know we accidentally mixed kids up at birth might be kinda reputation harming so let's just keep both and say they're twins." It always surprised me how quickly families in these novels are like "you're not my blood kid so therefore now that I've found the blood related one, you go." Always felt some of the trouble they later incur is well earned, just for that. Now if the 'fake' kid is a bad person, that's a separate matter.

Spoiler

I do like how everything that goes wrong for the blood related daughter is 90-100% her fault every time. Direct correlation--actions have consequences.

[collapse]

Also, I like how MC Yu Xiang has actual friends and allies aside from the doting ml; it's more realistic, I think, but also nice to see female side characters who aren't villains in a cannon-fodder story. (Original Yu Xiang was definitely cannon fodder before MC Yu Xiang transmigrated).

I agree with another review I saw that it's nice that Yu Si Yu
Spoiler

gets a chance to mature and grow up, reflecting on the actions that brought her to the present. She was just a kid while she was a 'villain' character, so being given a chance to realize she was wrong and why after a big punishment was good. To me, it also showed that she was just a product of her upbringing and it wasn't that her intrinsic nature was bad, unlike a certain og FL for the story.

Like yes, Yu Miao Qi is at least partly a product of her upbringing too, but... when punished for major offenses, she didn't change. She just doubled down, thinking she was still right, no matter that other people got hurt and killed because of her. And seriously, leaving her adopted mom who raised her to die because she wanted to be rich? Causing an entire family to be killed just because she was afraid rumors would get out of her framing the mc? That's evil.

I liked this story a lot. It held my interest throughout with the events and romance. The FL has a yandere personality which might rub some the wrong way. She is upright but has a vicious tongue. She tears off the faces of the green tea "ladies" without a shred of guilt. ML is always supportive of FL, to the extent that she would've been rotten if not for her inherently good nature.

However, there is a bit of non-consensual acts that might make some readers uncomfortable but I don't believe... more>> that the receiver would've disliked these instances. Read this spoiler is you wanna know the details.

Spoiler

Yu Xiang, the female lead, was drunk when Yu Pin Yan, the male lead, kissed and felt her up. He also kissed her several times when she was asleep. During this time, FL already planned to never marry and live with ML for the rest of her life. She also wanted ML to never marry. She loved ML and was possessive of his affections. However, she defined this love as sibling love and not romantic love. The step from sibling to romantic love was a hurdle because she believed ML's affections for her might not last if they become lovers.

Once she was sure that ML would only have her as his wife and not take in concubines, she become downright bold in seducing him. 😂

This novel os a good read it can't be said to be a light read nor a heavy one. It also mixes realistic and unrealistic tones well in someways and in other ways it makes a modern person reading it feel a bit heavy.

My only complaint is making the former FL a "jinx" there was not really a need for such, as her character itself was extremely manipulative, narrow-minded and vindictive. Rather than her being a jinx alone, it was more like the brother and sister were a jinx to... more>> each other making it impossible to exist together under the same roof.

The good points in this story is the frankness honesty and boldness of the characters that I liked very much, second chances that were truly not wasted and also that the side characters had a story of there own. <<less

4.5 stars! If you like historical China, political machinations, and navigating thru strict social and familial norms, this book is for you!

There is no smut, just allusions. The romance is 3.5 stars for me. Its sometimes so-so but pretty cute sometimes! Maybe my enjoyment decreased because of how young the female character is. Altho this is my first ancient china translated novel so maybe Im not used to it.

I don’t know if my expectations were too high, but I was rather disappointed by this novel. I went in expecting a yandere overprotective older brother, but what I found was a career executioner with a clear bottom line raising his child bride. I found myself

The ML is more ruthless to himself than to his so called romantic rivals. He took pleasure in doling out their completely justified punishments at most. His love was obsessive, but he had clear boundaries of respect and trust for his partner. He’s clearly the... more>> devoted love interest. The yandere in the title is actually referring to the younger ‘sister’ Yu Xiang (MC) right?

The initial setup of their previous life was confusing, but the questions raised by the premise was a large part of why I continued to read to the end despite feeling mislead. Ultimately, my questions for what happened next went completely unanswered. The story was still good. I simply feel dissatisfied due to the parts that hooked me not being fulfilled. The best example is probably the completely forgotten Feng Jiaojiao. Was her family quietly exterminated during the political unrest or something?

I really want to know how the last life concluded, but perhaps it’s better not to know. It’s likely I would still be dissatisfied even if the older brother abandoned the family that killed his sister, caught the scheming young monk, or sacrificed his life to supplement her lotus flower. The connection between Yu Xiang and her new ‘brother’ implies that he somehow followed her over.

Perhaps it’s better to not confirm that her adoptive brother contains the soul of her real brother. The author seemed to be attempting to avoid ‘real’ in*est this way. The author could have shown some backstory of some other man in the original world who sacrificed himself as well to cross over if they really wanted a clean divide. The twins bond could have transferred to her lover and her brother becomes brother Shen. I feel this portion may have been half assed due to the author’s reservations. At least this way the conclusion is left for the reader to decide.

A final aspect that left me confused is that we don’t have an idea over whether this story is a true happy ending. The story ends not long after the problems related to the original plot are resolved, but fails to take into account how dangerous their situation could be in just a few decades. Will the imperial grandson and his children still tolerate a powerful minister like the Yu family? A cute teaser to replace this huge source of potential conflict might have been her waking up in her next life and immediately feeling the pull of their bond. It could cement that the couple (or at least the mc) is destined to live in happiness in her next life despite the hiccup caused by that selfish monk. <<less

I like this a lot :)

This is like one of the few novels I actually finished reading after a long time. I stop when I'm almost at the end of prev novels I've read because... I felt bored. I was lacking the engagement needed to complete those novels. But for this one, I sit it all through :)

Regarding the plot, I honestly like it a lot. I like supernatural things afterall, especially in historical settings. Idk why, it just make sense. I like the foreshadowings as well, it... more>> really hypes me up for what to expect.

That's all. Most importantly, I saw yandere, I got yandere. <<less

I loved it. Yes, I have questionable moral standards lol. This was so refreshing, finally some human characters, not mary sues and gary sues. The FL was not a doormat, smart, feisty and thank God- shameless lol. ML was loyal and smart too. A couple made in heaven, no misunderstandings and they had each other’s backs. As for the so called in*estous, we’re talking about ancient China for ML and the FL knew all along they’re not related. Highly recommend this one, where can I get more???🤩

I really really like histo bg and face-slapping and there's a lot of that in here, that alone is enough to make me like it. But how to say, I really didn't like the trope of MC and ML. Or I just really don't like step/swapped siblings romance, I don't have any problems w in*est in fictions actually but step/swapped really doesn't do well with me.

The eroticism inserted when they're together is sooo not my type too. There's a bit of a smut but maybe its just me but I... more>> really don't like eroticism randomly inserted in these kinda novels.

It was fun at the beginning of the novel, but later all characters became unreasonably vicious. I stopped when the MC followed the lead and started to act crazy making scandals and ruining hef brother ex-fiance because of jalousy.

And the intomae interractions of the fake siblings was also pretty desturbing.

It was getting annoying after chapter 60. It seems like the author was just dragging the story.

I didnt mind the FL and ML's weird interaction. They are actually cute but seems insidious. I know they both know that they are not real siblings and just hasn't confronted one another. They act like siblings but newly married. Its creepy and weird when FL only wants brotherly love, yet ML is thinking otherwise. FL acts tough and all but suddenly gets dumb when ML is involved.

Also, YMQ was just a pain in the head yet they still just let her be. When they could've just solved her right then and there. As I said. Author was dragging the novel. It puts me off that I have to put a review. I stopped at chapter 76. 🤷🏻‍♀️

All and all. Its not really bad. That's why I left 3 instead of 1. If you can push through all of that. Then it'll be worth reading. Just not my cup of tea after Chapter 60. <<less

premonitory dreams belivable but what made the story weird for me was that the FL was 25 when she transmigrated into a 10 year old body, she schemed just fine so she wouldnt die just as she got there but all along she was like 10 years old older than ML and tho I get that she didnt want the brother-sister relationship get awkward and stuff she didnt refrain from siting on his lap and Kissing him and stuff even tho she knew he was thirstyyy for her, my problem with this is not her but how others perceeve her as a good-rebelious-but-holly-saint, like is that what the good fate the budists from the future bought?? And how come the protagonist was such a wreck?? I mean I didnt tought she was such a Bad person, I mean she is, she kills everybody and all but the thing about how she was a jinx turned her into a victim at least to some extent, like she tought she was kidnapped from her Beautyfull destiny, anybody would do something similar unless they got stockolm right?? The shengs where like yeah we robed you but it wasnt out fault so wait till we feel like it to take you to your real family.

At last The most awkward for me was the before jiji? thing like big brother was giving her all the sings, she is playing s*upid cuz they ARE brothers and still she gets groped on daily basis at 14 by a 20 something gardian, i mean grandma!!!, if it was a modern drama it would be more like yeah they are brothers, doesnt matter if they are REALLYYY close, but it is an ancient time novel!!, like grandma get a grip, he is grabing her ass to your face! Besides it was OMG so grafic that I don't understand how she didnt notice...

Finally, what happened to the brother from the future? I would like to think he isnt her brother and that is why her mother asked for her heart and that he somehow got into the book too??

[collapse]

I wouldnt read it again as it was funny and quik peaced but not endiring or too engaging, Main couple is sweet and total tsunderes so the book title makes total sense <<less

The novel is good, but not really satisfying. In some point I am bit disappointed with the plot how they describe the story about the original plot before the transmigrate FL.

it’s bit sad and unfair for the original YX. At first ch says she is a villain with bad ending they married her to a bad guy and died miserably. They says she born as a jinx later actually the truth her bazi (birth date) is she is blessed person but the OR FL YMQ is the jinx but following... more>> the original story she is not once have calamity but the OR YX have it until her dead (well it explained later if that just happen in her early life) The OR FL rob her OR family love, in the marquis house she is not loved and get taking care by the marquis house they not send her to school basically she grow to be a person know nothing and s*upid. While her OR family pampered OR FL. But the thing I don’t understand is when following the Original story line OR YX family send OR FL to marquis house they not take the OR YX back home and let the marquis married her to bad person. They can take her back like they take back transmigrate FL why they not take the OR YX back home? They just left her behind. It was so sad for her no one really care for her that why I think she is jealous and become a villain. She not have a place and no body want her, all the people she be nice with is just fake person like the half sister YSY which she always give half her monthly money.

second I think the transmigrate FL is have hidden thought for her twin brother it’s creepy. Maybe she don’t realize it. But it’s says she feel it from the ML is resemble her twin brothers. When the ML says want to married her did the FL not feel awkward feel like married her own twin brother. Yes it’s true they not blood related but the fact the ML resemble her twin brother and the reasons she have deep attachment with the ML is because ML resemble her twin brother to much. Instead feel awkward she’s try to seduce ML. <<less

- That MC does not have awareness between male and female. Literally. Perhaps the MC is just low of EQ. Or she was also still a child before she transmigrated. But... after both characters are in open relationship, the MC became provocative and seductive.

- 14-years-old but still clingy and touchy with the 20-years-old ML. Why the grandmother didn't admonish them? Hm? When she realized, yo too late.

- After transmigrated, MC is fast-adapted to the new life.

- Reading comments, yo where is Fan Jiao-Jiao? Even the 9th Princess got the epilogue.

A fairly dog-blood drama set in ancient times. FL has good (buddha destiny) fortune and was reincarnated into a novel as a cannon fodder. Although it sounds bad, she managed to endear to her non-blood-related brother (ML) which thus saved her life. Her evil "twin" who was the original female lead in the novel is a back-stabbing terrible person that led the dog-blooded aspect of the story... more>> majority of the time. FL has a strong character without being over-bearing. Although fierce, she is loyal and has a good character, so reading from her POV is rather enjoyable. I think this novel is wonderful. I love how in this story, the villains definitely deserve what's coming to them, I don't think you would at all feel bad for them, definitely not for the main villain. Most people probably find the whole relationship between the ML and MC icky because they're technically "siblings", but I personally don't mind it. I think their relationship is cute and I like how the "yandereness" isn't too intense or crazy. Also, I like how the MC's disability doesn't hinder her, she's still badass... more>> and I like every time she proves everyone who looks down on her wrong. <<less
