Jiang Chenghan merely attended a birthday banquet at the Duke’s residence with his superior, never expecting to be exploited and framed as a scoundrel who “defiled” the innocence of the Duke’s second son, Yan Jingshu. To his surprise, the matter was ultimately resolved by arranging a marriage between him and Yan Jingshu.

Before the wedding, Jiang Chenghan assumed that Yan Jingshu, forced into the marriage, would resist it vehemently and treat him with cold disdain. Little did he know, the Yan Jingshu of this lifetime was someone who had died and been reborn—a person living a second chance at life…

Gong (still adjusting to the arranged marriage): My wife seems to flirt with me every day, what should I do? Should I just go for it?

Shou (reborn, already in an old-married-couple mode): Nonsense, I’m not, I didn’t, stop making things up.

Not bad but not good. The novel starts strong, but starts to become boring in the second half. I was also not the biggest fan of the POV switch.

The story starts with the shou (ger) being reborn and him trying to change his and the gongs fate. While the shou wasn't that great I liked him more in the beginning. Once the gong POV took over the shou became 1 dimensional and weak.

The gong was really meh. If I didn't know he was a ... more>>

transmigator, kind of. He had memories of his past life which was a modern world.

I would have liked him more if this was left out and was just a more upright ancient man. He did absolutely nothing with his knowledge of his past life

From around chapter 50 the whole novel starts focusing on battles, intrigues and a s*upid side plot with the uncle that I didn't like. The chapters also loose the details and become basically summary chapters.

Big spoilers about the shou's (ger) past

Spoiler

the shou isn't the child of the duke house at all which is why mom Xie hated him. The Xie parents freaked when she had a miscarriage at their house and swapped the baby with the shou. The parents say it was a child they bought from a human trafficker, but of course that isn't the case. The Duke's mansion doesn't mind and says, sometimes family is the people we choose to keep and blood isn't everything (loved that part).

Many chapters later, a random Xie ger uncle appears in the shou's life and ofc it's obvious he is the dad. Xie uncle gave birth at the same time Xie mom miscarried and so the babies were swapped while Xie uncle was passed out because him having a bastard child was the worst thing ever. Xie uncle doesn't find out his child is actually alive until he meets the shou again after 20 years.

Xie uncle is weak and doesn't want to tell shou about the swap and keeps it hidden until gong gets in trouble at the capital, then come to find out the other dad is the cousin to the emperor and he really loves Xie uncle, waited for him for 20 years, but Xie uncle says he dislikes him, blah blah blah, bunch of superficial pull and push between the two that was boring.

Xie uncle finally tells shou and shou accepts it after his duke daddy still doesn't hate him. Shou dislikes emperor cousin Daddy for most of the story. They never announce to the outside world he is the son of Xie uncle and emperor cousin daddy.

The last few chapters are a time skip and about the couples oldest kid. It was okay, but I had kind of checked out by the.

I MTLd the whole thing, pretty easy to understand. I tried the translation site first, but some really sketchy ads kept popping up, so I didn't even read 1 chapter from there. I guess thanks to the translator for introducing the story?

I probably wouldn't read again even if it was ever fully translated, it was just too mediocre for me. Though I will say as ger stories go, this wants bad. <<less
