First time actually leaving a review so I'm sorry if this is awkward.

It's sweet and well done for this kind of novel but not something I'd tell everyone to read. I would recommend it to someone who needs to take it easy and smile. But not when they're dieting unless I want to fall out.

I like this story from the mindset of "If I ignore certain aspects of this, the rest is silly and sweet." The reason for this mindset is that, generally, I can't stand it when they... more>> ship teenagers with full grown men and women. It always feels predatory to me. It seems like a lot of Chinese novels don't have an issue with it so long as it's consensual as I often see BL, GL, and Het relationships with the same premise of a 16-18yo with someone in their early to mid twenties. I struggle a little to get past that when they remind me about MC's age. I mentally adjust it so that he's at least 19-20yo in the beginning and not like 17-18yo like they say in the novel.

That being said, the romance is rather cute. Realistic? No. But it's good for a sweet and silly novel about food and love. The ML is very overbearing at first, but over time he softens and he doesn't push the MC into a relationship. The ML treats MC very well and doesn't harass, threaten, or force the MC like other dogblood novels. MC is a person who doesn't understand love or feelings very well. He's not closed off to them, but it's more like he doesn't get involved in them himself. As time goes on, we see the MC become more and more interested in the ML due to being moved by the ML's kindness and care for him. The MC doesn't realize his feelings though because he's never had such feelings before. He gets confused because the ML sometimes acts like MC is his kid, to the extent that he calls MC his big kid. As the audience, it's clear that this is the same way that some people in relationships refer to their partners as being childish sometimes, but to the MC and given their age gap, he starts to wonder if ML treats him as platonic family. Still, the romance is slow going but sweet.

The side pairing of Wei Xiaofeng and Zhan Heng is also very funny. I especially love how both ML and Wei Xiofeng hate this one particular actress because their partners praised her. Don't worry, they don't go to the level of actually harming her. They just really dislike her. I'm dying of laughter every time they bring her up.

If there's one thing I want to nitpick, it would be the side characters. This novel strays away from the tried and true method of having every side character become cannon fodder. Certain side characters start off antagonistic but are won over to the MC's side either through the MC's acting, food, or connections. It's refreshing to see a character you expected to fight the MC until he (the character) died choose to reform and work hard. Still, the novel has its fair share of braindead cannon fodder antagonists. What's even funnier is that the characters who go down this route are completely nonsensical. The first truly braindead cannon fodder we run into is someone the MC only met once in the beginning, but continues to try to find trouble for him for AGES afterwards. On the other hand, characters with more legitimate reasons to fight the MC end up being the first to reform. This could be intentional of the author; to create a sense that only the braindead would be unconvinced by the MC and all others would immediately acknowledge him. It's still rather irritating to see people who have very little to do with the MC being the ones jumping up and down to discredit him.

In conclusion, this novel is probably not something you would recommend as a work of literature, but suitable if you're looking for a sweet and silly novel. The MC is not particularly intelligent and can't scheme, but is likable and cute. The ML is not overly greasy and controlling, but pampering and caring. Enjoyable.

Well truly, this story at first made me feel the MC might be utter s*upid. With all the things he must have gone through with him being an orphan and all, how can he be so gullible?

It was unrealistic and two third of the chapters I forced myself to read it just so I could finish this book.

Although it began to be pretty cute by the end of the story, there are so many things which was untold by the end of the story.

And there were so many cannon fodders popping up from here and there, it may be due to the poor translation, I had no idea who was who.

And well the translation was not too good. Half the story line goes not properly explained due to slangs and idioms not being explained.

So if you really don’t have anything else to read, go at it. If not, there are so many better novels to read than this. Truly.

For a transmigration novel with childcare included in it, this story is such a let down. <<less

still at the beginning of the story but the ML already irked me off

the romance plot is overdone, it's similar to another hundreds BG overbearing president in entertainment industry novel

ML isn't attractive for me. He is basic, boring, pushy, and selfish. His archetype must've been the funny sarcastic ML but failed already in the beginning cause he just came across as annoying.

i think im gonna skip all the romance and just read the career plot only.

If you love reading about food and everyone gaining weight (including you because of the food descriptions and pictures)... well, except the MC, he gets to get thinner throughout the story, this is for you!

My favorite character was little MuMu, I love a little bun in the story.

The story is very funny and fluffy in some parts, and I enjoyed it. However, after a while, the Mary Sue switch is permanently on. The MC and his agent quit doing dumb stuff, they stay constantly lucky and all pits are dealt... more>> with.

Except, I felt like MC was killed before transmigrating and that was not even brought up. Some side of characters had a whole chapter of angst alluding to a side story that disappeared.

I read some reviews but it's mostly nonsense criticism coming from pretentious readers lacking commonsense who expect realism in their fiction. Are readers here that s*upid? This is a simple lighthearted webnovel, and there was never a pretense from author that it would be otherwise. All genres have tropes and if you are tired of them, move on to something else like a mature adult, instead of complaining about fictional characters. I am highly suspicious of ppl who feel the need to bash such novels... why do it? because your... more>> reading culture is superior? tsk tsk...

For ppl who love fluff and food, disregard the silly comments and reviews and just be happy reading this cute novel. The MC is pure, mentally strong, principled and stubborn. I like how he thinks, how he behaves, what he does and what he says. His personality really shines through in his approach to his new job and his dealings with the villains.

ML is your typical filthy-rich overbearing president, not that I mind or I would not be reading this. At the start he is quite domineering but he gets more considerate and gentle afterwards.

The villains are your typical showbiz villains. They are pretty realistic as I see them in the chinese entertainment news all the time.

It is a good relaxing book to read, great escapism for those who love fluffy danmeis and the food culture in China. As a foodie, I also follow some chinese celebrities who loves to eat and cook. <<less

at first they make our MC had same name as protagonist on the culinary novel.. and MC indeed have culinary skill became chef and died... then he transmigrate to the body of young actor that had same name as him (in the same world) this kind of useless setting for me.. then.. ML setting was having a child.. (not by married but surrogate it) hummm this... give us something cute.. then.. our side cp, 3.7 rating is just right for them, author feel like toserba shop (sale everything that can be sale) and I bought it hahahah

the story is boring. I dropped it at 39. Why?.

the MC is an 30 yrs old guy who died and turn to another person with the same name with him but that person is 18 yrs old.

the story is interesting at first but the personality of MC is contradicting like. He have 30 yrs experience plus he's an orphan, he already have many situations he has experience but after he wake up to 18 yrs old body. Instead to act as have experience, it decrease to something to naive. He... more>> so gullible that some one can really abduct and kidnapped him. He act so s*upid sometimes. You can say he's funny but that's it. Even his cooking. Can't feel it much. Its more on compliment of how good the MC interms of cooking

ML is such a jerk. He's manipulative, forceful in deciding, he's also a pe*vert, when he see the MC for the first time, he treat him as a child. So it's like lowkey g*ooming a naive minor. (If their legal age is 20), he also verbally s*xual assault the MC while they have not known each other for too long. He always take advantage the MC. He also manipulate him to be under his wings through some manipulating situation and become possessive of him while he's not clearly his own.. He also fall fast to MC. Too domineering

the ml's daughter are like his father both domineering at first although it become mild can't like her still.

i dont get why they label it as a warm family when it's forceful event that led to the ml's character house

every part of novel who end per chapter. And the next chapter are having contradiction to each other coz they have wide gap, for example, if some having a drama fight at end on next chapter it becomes another movie session <<less
