Suddenly, the unmarried twenty-year-old Ye Zhizhou had many more relatives, yet it was too late for him to clearly understand the circumstances as he nearly died in a car accident. After that, he somehow managed to survive and was even forcibly bound to a Salvation System.

How is it salvation?

Harems destroy worlds! Preventing a harem will save them!

. . . .

Ok, prevent harems. After seeing the entire system introduction, the corners of Ye Zhizhou’s mouth twitched. In order to return home safely, he decisively began his risky journey, he’d just treat it as if he was playing a large-scale strategy game.

Since then, the people the protagonist would rescue, he rescued first. The businesses the protagonist would make, he made first. The little brother the protagonist would take in, he took in first. The cliff the protagonist would jump off of, he jumped off of first. The gay s*x the protagonist would have, he’d have. . . . Wait wait, can’t do this one, change it, let me change it.

???: No, you can do this one.

Ye Zhizhou (alarmed): Who’s speaking?

???: Your husband.

Ye Zhizhou: . . . .

There’s nothing really special about this novel, it’s like any other quick transmigration novel out there. Typical cunning MC and overbearing, possessive ML, along with a drug dealer system. Nice to pass time when you’re bored though. The MC and ML relationship is very cute. The villains aka the world protagonists’ are the simple 2D cannon fodder villains. This novel definitely entertained me for a while, but if you’re looking for an in-depth story, then this isn’t novel for you. But I still suggest you to try it out just... more>> for the sake of it. <<less

This novel is not bad. Honestly the first half of this novel (considering that I only enjoy reading until around chapter 80-90) is quite interesting.

However, the second half of the story, I started to feel boring.

First, because the ML is just too much, possessive b*tch, and extremely domineering, unreasonable and jealous ML.

... more>> Second, yeah, the MC is quite passive. He's almost like a female, look shy in the outside, resisting the ML's intimate gesture, but in the end still getting f*cked by the ML.... and enjoy it, so?

Since this novel first similar reccomendation is FOD, then I would like to compare it with the FOD's MC too.

    • In term of being smart, well... this MC is more down to earth smart, not a genius bastard smart like FOD's MC. This kind of MC actually is interesting because we can keep up and see the thought process, analyzing and solving the problem together using the means and logic of smart people, not a godly genius person.
    • In term of golden finger, the MC in FOD is relying on his own ability (still a God like ability though). While the MC in this novel is relying on his system, from the various kind of magical pill and something and another. In the end, the MC in this novel is not a genius bastard, but still has a golden finger much more reliable than other Quick Wear MC. So, the MC is not so down to earth I suppose then?
    • In term of acting like a man, this MC here is more like a shy female... kinda passive in his romance with the ML, never even initiating an intimate gesture. When we Comparing it to the MC of FOD who freely and frankly admitted that he desires his ML, then the MC of this novel really fall short and more femininized. That kind of behaviour makes the MC in FOD truly described as male. Even though he is a shou, his desire as male, his frankness in intimate gesture, his desire to possess his lover, they aren't lesser than the ML who is a gong. After all, no matter what kind of man, most of man has the basic nature to possess and being a dependent or being relied to by someone they love, without lowering themselves down to being dominated only by the gong. That kind of character truly portray a male x male relationship.... in my mind.
Lastly, there is an interesting comment from another reviewer here that I absolutely agree with, here:

"I also dislike the fact that the surprise in every arc is exactly the same - the protagonist who seems like a white lotus in the System's summary turns out to be very different in-between the scenes. I wish there were more variety when it comes to the protagonist's true self. Maybe have them be genuinely nice, or maybe they pretend to like the MLs not because they're manipulative but because the MLs tend to be powerful and the protagonist feels they can't say no without ending up in trouble.

It would make things a lot harder for our MC to break up harems if the protagonist didn't have a skeleton in their closet that the MC could reveal to make the protagonist look bad in front of the MLs. How would he have handled things if the protagonist were really that attractive and amazing and not pretending to be so? It's a lot harder to make an ML fall out of love with a person that's honest/good-looking/generous/etc than it is to make them fall out of love with a person that is only pretending to be so.

Or what if the protagonist was just living his life when all of a sudden various powerful figures fell in love with him? He's afraid to say no to any of them because the power difference means they can make things hard for him if he rejects them, and all of them want the protagonist for himself so he's stuck in a tug of war, unable to refuse one for the other without getting in trouble when all he wants to do is escape the situation entirely."

That is the idea of WHAT IF, What would happen if the Protagonist of the world MC going in is a truly kind and nice person, thus the reason why he/she is able to attract many attention of the harem members. It would be perhaps extremely difficult, or perhaps... extremely easy. Because perhaps the MC would need to cooperate with the real protagonist to avoid the disaster then.

Alas, there's no such plot~ <<less

Started off ok but as the other reviewers said, the harem increased and I can't even remember or be bothered with the protagonist's harem members before the arc is completed. And by making the missions harder for the MC, he gets dropped into the middle of the arc where he just had time to read the mission brief before he had to rush out to intervene.

Even so, the ML is always reborn as some powerful person who can protect and help the MC so the story have became really boring... more>> that I even fell asleep. No character development from the MC and the way the ML always forced the MC into being with him is getting bothersome and old, with the MC never taking any initiative towards the ML.

Interesting concept but I feel the author tries too hard in the latter arcs and the plots seems forced and predictable. <<less

The story has a talented translator. I don't have anything bad to say about the quality of the spelling/grammar/etc.

When it comes to the plot itself, I'm thankful that on the table of contents page the translator has separated chapters according to worlds, because without that I would've stopped reading.

Some worlds are just uninteresting or ridiculous so I skipped them.

... more>> I like the fact that the System gives an lacking summary of the world's plot, forcing the MC to work with incomplete information to solve problems.

However, I dislike the cheats the System offers, such as pills to solve every sickness or physical trouble there is. It makes things too easy.

I also dislike the fact that the surprise in every arc is exactly the same - the protagonist who seems like a white lotus in the System's summary turns out to be very different in-between the scenes.

How would our MC have broken up the harem then?

The point is, while There Will Always be a Protagonist with Delusions of Starting a Harem is a good story, it feels too bloated for such a repetitive formula. If the twist about the protagonist was more different in each arc like the way I proposed just above, it would be better. But since it isn't, arcs start feeling repetitive and predictable, and with the cheats the System offers such as those pills and the scanning abilities, there's no sense that the MC really struggles.

I didn't rate this story lower because it's entertaining and good to kill time, so it's not worth a 1 or 2-star, but it doesn't have a story on the same level as Don't Pick up Boyfriends from the Tr ash Bin, for example.

Maybe there's something amazing that comes after chapter 124--where I'm currently at--which will have me raise my opinion, but if it takes 124 chapters out of a 170-chapter story for a good over-arching plot to emerge, then it's a bit too little too late. We're already more than 70% into the story. <<less

This book has several arcs with great plot twists that keep it interesting and hilarious. Even the OP halo of the MC's pill-peddling system can be overlooked to some degree because the system is not some annoyance that has as much dialogue lines as the male lead like in some novels.

The world building, when it is done, is very immersive. It spices up each arc.

That said, there is a lot of wasted potential here, painfully wasted. The characterisation of the male lead and supporting characters is dry, one-dimensional and cliche. In later arcs, the writing was very lazy. The story and actions of the mcwaa sometimes just summarised into a paragraph without going into essential details, a

Nevertheless, the book was still great to read. It had the potential to be like another favourite I this genre (Quickly Wear the Face of the Devil) but the weaker writing in the last arcs really failed it.

Characterization is (usually) poor, where antagonistic characters are unrealistically wholly villainous, cruel, manipulative or incompetent with no deeper layering. Considering MC is portrayed to have a multitude of good qualifications (charisma, researcher-level intelligence, spiritual power enhanced physical strength) it makes it very hard to believe these subpar villains are in any way a threat to the MC, decreasing tension and making it a (very) boring read imo.

Plot development fluctuates in quality and is similarly non-descriptive. "Harem destroys worlds" as an interpretation is taken to the most boring extent possible where... more>> increasingly nonsensical scenarios result in country spanning nuclear wars and disaster. The ridiculousness of the scenarios being jokingly emphasized by the author and the MC doesn't make it any more attractive and if anything, shows the laziness and lack of effort put into the world development of every new task world which clearly depends on common tropes of the genre to establish itself which wouldn't be so bad if everything else wasn't so lacking.

The concept of the spiritual power sea, one of the most original and intriguing thing of this novel, is explored deeply in the first few task worlds and never again, instead taking a back seat to dog blood drama as a radar for ML
Spoiler

who actually makes a societal blunder by accidentally violating the MC after having his spiritual power unintentionally awakened by the MC when curing his insomnia.

[collapse]

The MC, being repulsed by this was probably one of the most realistic moments in this story (even with the bad translation), but despite his misgivings the MC refuses to educate him on the matter, nor does the author go into more detail as to the societal consequences of these two characters with greatly differing backgrounds being together (or why such an invasive ability is okay to be used on normal people just because they can't feel it). Perhaps even more insultingly, not only was this event completely forgotten by both the author and the MC, despite a similar scenario happening again on his own volition one hundred chapters later, the author again refuses to acknowledge the ethical concerns
Spoiler

despite the ML's brother being right there to witness the MC literally forcing himself on the ML who has very little knowledge of the previous worlds, without his consent

[collapse]
. Considering Chris and Clay have a very good relationship, this nonchalance to his brother's public mol*station is concerning and is only excusable if he was a psychopath, but more likely is just another example of the author's terrible characterization.

In summary, it's not awful. The sentence structure is unique and very personable, giving the story a very uplifting atmosphere. There also times where the plot twists and characterization are actually very thought provoking, such as
Spoiler

when it turned out the protagonist of a zombie world was actually exposed to an infected spring in his subspace hence causing him to form infected characteristics, proving as a proper incentive for the rest of the plot of task resulting in a plethora of unique interactions and reactions of both the male leads and the side characters

[collapse]
.

If you don't mind the wildly fluctuating quality of content, the MC's and ML's toxic tendency to mind r*pe each other, the author's refusal (in laziness or something else) to expound on world building elements or even maintaining a proper timeline, the MC's inability to provide even an illusion of being challenged, unrealistic portrayals and plot developments....

Casual readers will enjoy themselves immensely. More veteran readers can still enjoy themselves, but picky readers like me might be better off choosing something else. <<less

100% RECOMMENDED

This is very different from what I expected.

Firstly, I thought it was going be the same old arc stories however it was very different. For first 3-4 arcs is the normal same old arcs but then the story lines of arc get deeper and hidden plot lines that the MC doesnt know about with each arcs the plot get harder and harder to figure.

Secondly, I love the ml, he is not very possessive, overbearing or over-controlling campared to other QT novels and gives the MC freedom to do whatever... more>> he wants.

Thirdly, the system of the novel, its not very over-bearing and forceful (which I personally hate in system QT novels) he system doesn't care about what the MC doesnt, it just want him to finish his task. There is also no "puishments" if the MC goes ooc of campared to original owner. Which shows the MC orginal personality.

I can't wait for more updates!! <<less

Well in first arcs I was bored by simple plots but when mission difficulty rose, it did became interesting. I haven't completed it yet but so far with difficult arcs it's fun.

One thing I don't like is arcs are very short like 10-12 chapters so in some worlds many things are not understood about world only focus remains on how MC completes his missions.

ML in many arcs don't have much role except few where he is one of prime character.

I found ML cute when he was a little beast and... more>> acting all coquettish like a cat. <<less

This is good...

It's cute ?❤️

Though the ML fell for the MC quite fast. And I think the MC just go with the flow with the ML at first because of " without me what about him", kinda reason. But because they stay together for a lifetime the MC fell in love with the ML in the end.

The thing that make this novel satisfying is the fact the the MC can choose to stay in the world until he dies naturally. Not unlike other QT novel which they force the MC... more>> to transmigrated right after they finished they're task. Which is kinda frustrating.

The mtl is super challenging. But with effort you'll understand the plot of the remaining arc that have yet to be translated.

I'll read it again once it is completely translated.

The ending though...

It's like the author just wanted to end it...

There is no extra arc, it like how it end in every arc, conclusion and then finished.

Oh well~

Over all this is a good novel.

It's worth reading. <<less

I am really enjoying this. It's a fast wear novel (world hopping), that although has similar genre's of world's to other fast wear (zombie's, Ancient china, Entertainment industry, etc.), The stories that the Author thought up are really original, in-depth, with interesting twists and turns that were always unexpected. There were situations that I have not come across in other fast wear novels. There is always a good amount of comedy, all characters were well written, felt real enough and weren't cringey. Add on the MC's intelligence on how he... more>> deals with and manipulates situations to his benefit, yet isn't too intelligent or perfect to where he feels fake, makes very intriguing stories. I usually don't like the modern day world's in fast wear novels (the entertainment industry, Rich people, etc.), but this Author made them interesting and funny enough that I actually enjoyed reading them. <<less

Interesting enough with some fluff to it. the protagonists seem like pure and stereotypically good people until things stop going their way... then not so much. knowledge and perception is everything. there are no "good" protagonists and almost all of them are scheming in the plotholes of whatever story the MC is in at the moment.

There's no OOC punishments in this novel and the MC isn't forced to follow the script to progress the story. he just has to make sure all the harem members don't get together with the... more>> protagonist and not kill the jerk of the week (can't kill the favored son or daughter, the world would end). it lost a star because there are some stories I didn't like at all (ABO and court politics).

Like a lot of other readers FOD was my first world hopping novel and while this has some similarities, this is not as well written. Some of the stories follow the same basic plot lines as most of the others (i.e. researching and creating a vaccine during the zombie apocalypse). the details differ a little from one novel to the next but i'd kind of like to see a different kind apocalypse story, I'm rather burnt out on zombies right now. and also Zergs; why is it that the only alien race the Chinese ever fight in the future are the same giant bugs in every. single. story?! <<less

I've read and enjoyed several transmigration with system and one true love type stories (at least twenty) - however this is only the second story in which the MC tries to reform the villains rather than mindlessly wreaking revenge upon them. This fact lends nuance and credibility that is usually sorely lacking in these types of stories. It is also the most common tsukkomi I find myself thinking when I'm reading these stories. In fact I've dropped stories in the genre precisely because I've been made morally uncomfortable by some... more>> methods an MC used to push a villain to hell, as if a person's sucky motivations or your own recollections of the same treatment justify torture. Anyways, I'm happy to say this story does not do that and the MC and ML are able to be cute and happy together without relying on the suffering of others.

I agree with many of the other reviews that the first arc was problematic, but it manages to save itself so don't worry. Get through the icky bit and then MC and ML interactions stay sweet and funny.

After reading the beginning portion of Death Progress Bar from the same author I'm quite confident that this author particularly excels at characterization. Even side characters act and react believably - even if you don't understand their motivations at that point it is always apparent that there are background reasons you simply do not know. Of course, that is assuming you are paying attention to the details which can be hard when you are waiting on translations a week apart (not criticizing the translator, just stating the capabilities of my memory).

Of course, one of the common ways these stories fail is with a disappointing conclusion, which I haven't gotten to yet. I'll update when I get there, but just wanted to give kudos to the very solid and enjoyable writing and story development. <<less

"Facepalm"

I didn't find a problem 'bout the ML and MC's character nor about the plot. But, really, the world that MC has to save, how should I say...? Even though I only at the start, I laughed hard read the situation of the two worlds.

Well, that is for now.

The translation is good, easy to understand. Keep the good work, translator.

Here's how to read the story (translation-wise) : Read 1-35 from the translators here. Both feel like MTL. At least for Hollywood Novels, names and pronouns are constantly changing, and parts of the story are clearly missing.
Spoiler

One arc is almost unreadable because 3 (maybe 4) characters were misnamed Zou Qing. So it'd be like "Zou Qing revealed to Zou Qing that Zou Qing was fake and had tried to replace Zou Qing." Like what?

[collapse]
There is a WAY better translation from someone from Chrysanthemum Garden (who are amazing translators) who then moved their translation to their personal site Peach Pits. They're not listed here because it's password locked and you can't get the password because their discord is down (at least in May 2025). SO, I found someone has their translations on Wattpad. I would normally read it on the original translator's site to support them but there's literally no way to do so.

Read chapters 36-130 from the translations by them and then finish the story by tolerating the translations from Hollywood Novels. There's an extra that Hollywood Novels didn't translate but TBH it's not worth reading it because it didn't add anything.

On to the review of the novel itself: The summary is misleading; it made it seem as though MC (knowing the plot ahead of time) would rake in all the benefits the protagonist would have in the original story. What actually happens is that the original plot actually has hidden undercurrents that the MC has to discover and stop.

It's a QT story but even with that the arcs move WAY too fast. They could have had the same number of chapters with less arcs (which would have been better because some arcs are NOT good). There was no breathing room or build up to the demise of characters, Things are extremely compressed and major events can finish in a couple of sentences.

That said, letting the pacing of story slide: I continued to read the story because I WAS interested in how the MC dissuaded the potential harem members. The relationship between the MC and ML was interesting at first and then became stale. I was actually enjoyed the relationship between the MC and "system" more.

The first half of the novel is more interesting than the second. I would have given the story 4 stars if it continued like the first half but then things start to get convoluted. There IS a sense of increased danger as things get closer to the final arc/boss but because of the compressed plot, things that should be dramatic reveals fall flat.

Read if you want a fast paced, whirlwind adventure with possessive and jealous ML and don't really care about side characters or a buttoned up plot.

I agree with others. This story can be somewhat interesting but it is dragged down by it's most recent and longest running translator though I'm not sure it is an actual translator instead of just a half-good mtl used by the poster for a money making scheme. The story is understandable for the most part outside of repeated paragraphs and there were a few later instances of chapters being in the wrong order or clearly missing scenes.

A lot of characters have the wrong pronouns and it sometimes even changes from... more>> one paragraph to another. It has A LOT of trouble with characters with similar names and will call 2-3 different characters the same name, making distinguishing them annoying.

The stories are 7-10 chapters each. So many characters getting introduced in every new story line that it's hard to keep them organized or get attached to anyone except our ML, though there are some standout characters in the earlier chapters.

Also, the story with a matriarchy

Spoiler

It does that annoying thing that I've seen in a few Chinese/Korean/Japanese translated stories where a female ruler is referred to with masculine pronouns. I cannot tell when they are referring to the actual Reigning Empress and not the Male Consort/Emperor. I think it's half a translation issue and half cultural because someone in power MUST be male.

Then later the Main Kingdom that started out as a matriarchy is completely changed and seems to be a kingdom with a normal male emperor now. Over all this entire section is just nonsensical. I think the translation is getting worse or the writer forgot what they wrote.

[collapse]

1 more point that I'm not sure is a choice by the writer or due to the translation but it was just too distracting.

Spoiler

The storyline with the virtual MMO had this section where it mentioned that the protagonist somehow became rich by trading in-game currency for REAL money. ???????? In what universe, except this twisted one, would a corporation EVER allow someone to take money from them. The storyline in general was kind of cringy with elements that felt like someone whose never actually played an MMO but mentioning the In-Game Currency being exchanged for Real Money part was too much!

Game Corporations are not Charity Shops, there is literally no way they would allow that kind of exchange.

Real Money for In-Game Currency or Items, yes.

Unless this protagonist was selling In-Game Currency or Items to other players for real money and it's an issue of the translation, depending on the MMO that's either against the TOS or just something the company wouldn't directly support because it doesn't put money in their pocket.

I never write reviews since I know that my words might be too biased but this is the 3rd time i've read this so here I go.

First of all there are a lot of (better) reviews already and I agree with most of them. The MC is great. He didn't turn into a brain dead accessory to the ML and was able to carry the story well. The side characters are rather flat but they serve their purpose. Now the ML gives me the ick. The first time (quick read... more>> since I was desperate for QT stories) was fine but 2nd and 3rd time made me dislike him more. How can you find a neanderthal who's go to dialogue is "You're mine./ Mine/ Only mine", romantic or interesting? Even after so many worlds? (PS it gets more primitive the more the story progressed. I remember during several dialogues, the MC is talking seriously about a problem and this ape just keeps insisting that he (mc) shouldn't think/ talk about others? How the heck is he supposed to do things then?! After the 3rd time reading, some parts feel more dubcon too. Maybe it's just the usual CN trope or maybe it's just me?

I skipped most of the ml's dialogue later on because he just kept getting on my nerves. I never liked MLs, especially ones in 1v1 QT stories, that unreasonably block the MC from family and friends or anything breathing.. Just because he's jealous. Or just because he "loves" the MC so much. I just can' find the romance in it.

Sorry, I started ranting. ⁄ (⁄ ⁄•⁄-⁄•⁄ ⁄) ⁄ To conclude..

  • the story is great for a quick read.
  • The MC didn't fade into the background
  • The arcs are interesting and the harems that the MC needed to break were varied enough.
  • The translation is pretty bad though. You need to do a lot of mental gymnastics but I'm used to it since I often read MTL.
Would not recommend for re reads. Unless you've erased it from memory and can start fresh lol. <<less

I LOVE IT! This might be the 3rd Quick Transmigration I read after QWTFOD and DPUBFTB and I haven't been able to read another as good as those. But I must say, so far, I really like this novel's MC and ML's relationship much better than QWTFOD because I feel like they were able to explore it much better instead of just summarizing it in a few sentences. I say this because this has more similarities in writing with QWTFOD, tr*sh bin novel has a bit more of a mature... more>> tone to it. Anw, I like this BUT my problem is the translation. I know it was already better than the 1st but I had the longest misunderstanding with the 2nd story. I thought the twins was Ouyang Zhi and Ouyang Chun (ML) just to discover there wasn't a distinction with the name of the twins it really was just Ouyang Zhi and Ouyang Zhi what the heck. There's also repeating scenes that mixed in some chapters. I just want to get this out because this was a bit frustrating

EDIT:

nevermind, the relationship here is also shallow. It was only good in the first few lifetime then it came down to ML being able to find MC with his smell like a dog. Tho their little interactions are quite funny. The plot also got too boring, I don't feel satisfied even tho the protagonists do end up suffering for their wrongdoings. Gotta say, at this point it doesn't have a better quality than QWTFOD, there's no feeling of revenge since we don't get enough interaction with protags once the MC takes over so the face-slapping (if you can call it that) isn't very satisfying, most of the MCs techniques also only involves plot reading, deduction, and pulling out all kinds of pills that can solve everything. The translation also never improved, still mtled and there's that same name again for different people making it harder to read.

LAST:

Pacing is way too fast that most of the storylines are so forgettable. Till the end I feel no attachment to the characters even the supposed to be important ones because their interaction are summarize or happened in the time skips. Not better than any other QT out there. <<less
