They All Say I’ve Met a Ghost

Hello, everyone! My name is Shen Jianguo. I am a night school instructor teaching ideological development and Marxist philosophy, occasionally analyzing recent policies and measures for my students.

All my classes are held in the middle of the night; I’ve never seen my coworkers or students during the day. The training institute’s classrooms are all in abandoned schools, hospitals, or residences. The license plate number of the bus that picks me up is 444; it always arrives at my house at precisely midnight and disappears at five in the morning.

What? You’re saying I’ve met a ghost? Impossible! As a staunch scientific materialist, I absolutely don’t believe there’s any such thing as ghosts!

I’ve only had one problem recently: couldn’t the training institute hold its classes a little earlier? Wouldn’t around 8 PM do? I fear neither heaven nor hell, but I do fear going bald.

Best story I've read in a while. Excellent, complete translation (note: Difu = Underworld). Very funny, interesting, felt like a perfect short plot, ending, and epilogues. I don't even like supernatural or modern or BL stories, but after reading this story and New Times, New Hell, I think I need to read more.

The MC is a super goody-two-shoe ideological politics teacher with a super Yang energy body. He inadvertently terrorizes his class of fierce ghosts into ... more>>

good behaviour/redemption/reincarnation.

The ML is a highly superstitious cult disciple out to save the world from fierce ghosts. Being a responsible member of society, the MC tries to reform him, because there is no such thing as ghosts....

I highly recommend this little gem of a novel. <<less

“Even though I'm a virg*n, my spirit is still indomitable, and my conscience is clear.”—c3

A cute & simple novel starring a realist, monk, & a lot of ghosts. MC is 26, a virg*n blessed with plentiful yang energy, & is broke. After finally landing a teaching position, he realizes that his students may be of the... stranger side of the spectrum. I mean, what’s with the bloody appearances, hair floating in toilets, & ghastly pale complexion? Even the lodging provided is said to be haunted... well to MC, as long... more>> as he gets paid, all is well! Using his innate power of yang along with his strong sense of righteousness & Marxist philosophy, MC is able to wrangle all of his naughty ghost students. & ML, who is the infamous monk tasked to get rid of spirits, is left dumbfounded on the side.

OK, it’s funny & nonsensical. Simply a cute read if you want a good laugh & a cute CP. The focus is mainly on the MC’s interactions with his students, but the gradual buildup with the ML is sweet af. The plot resembles New Times, New Hell- a hilarious supernatural novel carrying similar themes. Overall, an enjoyable read! <<less

Definitely up there in the novels I would recommend. Made me laugh aloud in the first few chapters.

What an introduction to this lighthearted comedy!

It's actually a 4.5 in my heart. It was almost perfect, but I think the rest of the ghosts could have been fleshed out a bit more. The MC was just hilarious: he was always in terrible situations with ghosts, but he still refused to believe they were real. And the ML was like, "Welp, he's getting rid of them better than I am, so..." and fell in love with him very naturally. I'd like to see more of this kind of story, where the romance is not central to... more>> the story, but it happens in a way that it doesn't feel forced. <<less

i only have three words to describe this novel.

"My Favorite novel." 💕

Admit it, although some of us, are always looking for a good BL/Yaoi novel to read, but sometimes, we're lurking around here just to find A good novel to read, and this one is extremely good. It has all the things that I want, The Feels, The simplicity, Love, the silliness of an MC/ ML being low-key for a change, and the other characters didn't act as a passerby, but also gave us those feels that made us laugh... more>> and cry.. To the point that I don't want to let go of those good natured Students and super reliable principal. 😭 Thank you so much author.

After rereading this novel for the 5th times, I found myself ordering a Dragon/Phoenix Yin Yang necklace. Daym! 🤣🤣🤣 <<less

I was reading one of the author's recent story being translated that I wasn't aware her other story. After finishing this one I gotta say this author has a pretty good humor also keeping characters as consistent as possible.

It's like reading a funny dark humor to cleanse that inner darkness within you. But also indulging cute CP's. It's too bad that this story is short but it ended pretty nicely and some nice short side story to finish this off.

I really like the premise that by some bad luck this... more>> one normal guy got a job teaching ghost children and then unknowingly getting them bullied xD

I thought the ML would be a ghost but nope. But the two relationships are pretty great. I like their interactions and also although the romance is concluded quickly it doesn't feel forced.

It's a great read for a past time and a good laughs when you're down. <<less

Righteous protagonist? Sounds about right.

In a good way, though! This makes him completely oblivious to his predicaments. Although he might have gotten a close look at the situation but he chose to disregard it because of his plausible theories that relate to his sense of 'reality'. This was really the common theme in the story and what made every chapter hilarious. I loved MC's interaction with everyone, be it ghosts or people.

Although it's a first POV, the author did a splendid job making me appreciate the side characters more than... more>> the main character. The little information here and there really helped shape the side characters. It was also quite ironic how MC was oblivious to everything except his feelings. He knew he liked men and he right away admitted to himself that he liked the ML. Speaking of interactions, MC and ML conversations were just out of the living world. I was impressed by how they could still communicate despite the misunderstandings. Lmao

If you worry that this common theme of obliviousness will stay throughout the story:

Spoiler

Don't be! Later on, MC finally figured out that they were ghosts! It took him a bit of time because he was adamant that ghosts don't exist.

The description was not completely graphic but just the right amount for readers to digest the information. I think you will appreciate it. I didn't laugh hysterically, but I truly appreciate the comedic undertone. Since this story is relatively short, it did miss out on things such as a good relationship development between MC and ML. The author didn't delve into MC's background either. In a sense: what made MC so OP? Other than that, I really enjoyed reading this. I'm so glad I came across this novel or else I will miss out on some good reading! <<less

That was a pretty good read, lol. It's light and funny. I wish there were more extras about the MC's life in the sect or him being together with the ML.

I didn't expect it to be that good to read, even with how the MC tells about marxism and communism, which makes me cringe a bit, lol.

But I really like it and I recommend reading it.

I wish there's a sequel, and maybe with a yaoi undertone, lmao
