With the decline of the six ancient divine clans and the rise of humanity, the continent was plunged into endless strife and shifting power. Amidst the chaos and suffering of this turbulent era, an unknown knight rose to prominence. After more than two decades of relentless warfare, he brought an end to the age of discord

He slew the cruel tyrant, shielded the young imperial princess as she ascended the throne, yet was ultimately stripped of his authority.

He saved the elven princess, defended the sacred lands of the elves from the ravages of war, yet faced exclusion and disdain from the very people he protected.

He aided the Fox Empress of Kyushu in purging corrupt officials and securing her reign, only to be betrayed in return.

He helped a fox-dancer from the Sakura Tribe escape her lowly status and assisted her in becoming a high-ranking official, only to be used and discarded as a stepping stone.

He cleansed the kingdom of a heretical cult’s corruption, only to be burdened with false accusations.

Gazing upon this flourishing continent that no longer needed him, the knight silently withdrew, his duty fulfilled. Gratitude was never what he sought. The world was at peace, his purpose achieved.

No longer young, he drew his sword and struck at an opponent he could never defeat, marking the final note of his life’s symphony.

Yet death did not claim him. The fox bloodline within him saved his life, though at the cost of his gender. Forced into a new identity, she resolved to leave her knightly past behind and live quietly as an ordinary person.

Unbeknownst to her, the empresses and princesses who once held complex feelings for him now drowned in regret upon hearing news of his “death”…

It starts of strong. At the same time I feel the MC is quite clueless for someone who pulled off what he did.

There's also bits and bobs i've seen used in other novels and i'll be honest those novels where better than this one.

I think it might've been a 4 if I had not read other novels very similar to this one. As it is I can't give it more than a 3 since it was a lesser novel than the other ones of this kind.

Status: Completed
This novel starts off strong, MC is initially shown to be a stoic, faultless individual, like those you'd find in the generic slowlife retired s rank adventurer stories. However as the story progresses we see MCs flaws, he's made mistakes from his past, makes new mistakes, and emotionally lashes out, contrasting the stoic Knight figure he's built up to be. These emotional outburts and mistakes also feel geniuine, not forced. However due to the authors health, the ending was rushed and left quite a bit to be desired, namely characters... more>> being completely forgotten about, a reoccuring problem for this Author.

Spoiler

After Volume 1, the empress is never seen again, the story acknowledges that she is searching for MC, however after Volume 2 she is never mentioned again. In fact, the empire as a whole is never mentioned after Volume 2, including MCs students. The elves are also never mentioned after their arc, only the tree is briefly mentioned in 1 line in volume 4 to highlight the world being destroyed.

Only Lota and Yan Hong are developed and then remain in the story.

Luoxin and Rena I can understand since they had completed their tragic stories.

But the empress? Never mentioned

The Holy lands princess? Never mentioned

The two elves? Never mentioned

The final largest gripe I have with the ending, is that MCs aunt, the only one who showed him love, is never mentioned in the final chapters, the author decided to introduce another new character when the current cast was severely underdeveloped.

First chapters were epic, then it slowedown, this feels like a slow read, still quite interesting. MC is not a person from another world so no possesion or anything like that, MC is using the Genderbend as a way to brake her past relations, but upon her human forms death, her bloodline awakens, and with the help of her last opponent she is given a necklace to presume her previous form tho its an illusion. Thats the basics, again interesting read, this story most likely focuses on relationships. Reminds me... more>> of another novel, about a knight turned vampire.

Still interesting so far, one critique, I feel like the last 50 chapters I have read can be summarized quite easily and I got a bit bored reading through it. Still MC is funny, kinda. Story is kinda humurous too sometimes. <<less

MC wad a knight who was renowned, but prople framed him and others just misunderstood him. You'd think he would care, but he does not.

He was satisfied with his life and chose to fight one last battle–But couldn't die due to his bloodline.

Now we follow him in his new life trying not to use his bloodline, stay away from his past, and over all just trying to live a new life. Unfortunately for him, old habits die hard.

The MC here is s*upid in his own way, seemingly lacking common sense... more>> but also being a wise old character. I hate the fact that his personality switches according to his appearance, but it doesn't really affect the story right now.

It is interesting, well written, and I like misunderstanding/late realization plot like this, but chapters are still lacking. So its a wait and see right now <<less
