《Devil》 tells the story of Chi You, the protagonist shou, who was killed by someone and cultivated for revenge with the help of Feng Li, the protagonist gong. When Jiang Luo woke up, he transmigrated into the body of the cannon fodder that killed the protagonist shou.

What’s even worse, he transmigrated at the time when the protagonist shou was already killed by the original body.

At the funeral, Jiang Luo was pushed in front of the coffin.

The deceased body of the protagonist shou in front of him was serene, with a smile at the corner of his lips. However, Jiang Luo knew that he had turned into a malicious spirit and was eyeing covetously at him.

the original translators did a great job and I hope they continue with this novel! Currently putting this on hold at ch 56 bc of the mtl.

summary: the MC, jiang luo, transmigrated into a book he's previously read called [Devil] and became the jealous cannon fodder that killed the original mc/shou protagonist chi you. Now, chi you has become an evil spirit that is set on getting revenge and MC has to find a way to survive.

holy shit! Lmao I went into the novel blind and did not read... more>> any of the comments and I don't want to spoil anything but I was pleasantly surprised that chi you is actually out to get him. Like for real. The enemies to lovers trope is strong in this one!!!i love it when the supporting cast sticks around and are memorable <3 because of the setting and concept of there only being a few metaphysical spiritual colleges and their existence not being known to the whole world. So even people from the 6 great clans are frequently mentioned. <<less

Balances humor and drama really well. Smart protagonist that is powerful but not OP. Honestly my favorite novel that I've read in awhile even with MTL. I really hope this gets officially translated someday cause I'd love to own every volume.

Messy but fun. When the novel is properly translated and something better than the MTL is available, it'll be even better. Power of love? Sure. But the power of friendship is stronger 🎉

I liked the MC, his loyalty and affection for his friends stops the novel from becoming some tr*shy grim dark nonsense. Yea MC and ML are both messed up, but difference is MC only messes with ML and people who mess with him, ML just wants carnage and death. Watching these two tear at each other was interesting,... more>> they both show their worst sides and also by doing so their limits and beliefs. Someone you can show your best and worst to.

I don't like the ML, he's not very likeable, but parts of him are admirable and I feel like giving him more backstory would just woobify him and ruin his character. Don't pity him, he knows what he's done. His love for the MC chains him and sets him free.

(also the person on the cover is the MC >.< he's so cool! First time I've seen the MC beat the ML and actually win instead of the novel just flipping it and making the ML too OP and constantly fooling the MC) <<less

There was both plot and comedy and the romance wasn't bad either. The MC making things up about his relationship in the beginning was great. It's a fun read overall.

I’m sick, this novel is too good. It gave me a rush of emotions and I never stopped laughing through all of them, sadness, fear, anger, disappointment, and so much laughter and joy. I’ve read many novels but I don’t think I’ve ever read one where the two main characters never got boring

I don’t think I’ve read a novel where I could ease through it like a breeze. This novel has its flaws but I think the amazingness of it out-weights all that. I am bittersweet to realize its done,... more>> I am bittersweet to part from these insane lunatics who stole my attention and made me read so intently.

This novel was an amazing read and I do not regret picking it up for a second. <<less

The MC and the ML have so much chemistry it's insane. Every chapter you turn to leaves you hanging for more, and what and how they're going to retaliate against each other whenever they face off. This is because they're legitimate enemies, this isn't like academic rivals or whatever (there is nothing wrong with that, by the way, disclaimer), they genuinely hate each others guts at first and do plan multiple ways to kill each other (especially MC). Best "Enemies to Lovers" book,

I've also read this authors other work... more>> and personally it didn't catch me as much as this work of hers did.

The arcs are very well written and have kept my attention really well, especially because I tend to doze a bit! Side characters are very loveable and have decent character-building throughout the entire story too! That Teng-Bi extra really made me shed some tears (of happiness, and sadness, of course!).

I MTL-ed the entire story and read the extras on Tea Novels. I recommend others do the same too if they're struggling to find the extras somewhere else! <<less

Great story. Love the characters and the way they're portrayed in the story.

The MC and ML have great interactions. I couldn't wait to read about each time they meet each other. Each of the side characters in the story has a good spread of character-building. The different arcs are all very interesting and kept my attention throughout.

Now, the downside:

I think this story was mtled by Tea Novels and it's something that they don't even disclose in their summary. There are a lot of terms and names that kinda get mixed... more>> in with each other.

For example, they say Yu Guang a lot randomly in the text, but it's not a name, it's just a mistranslation for glancing.

They also mix up pronouns all the time. And on a personal note, they coulda translated some names better.

Sai Liaoer is a foreign guy and their name is supposed to be Cyril (dummynovel translator) or Zyler (imo).

and the "fatalist" man, the translation cant seem to decide on a name for him.

So be warned that this story will be a little rough to read, but if you can get over these hurdles, I promise it's worth it. <<less

Damned, finally finished lol!

Nice story plot! Kind of a ghost/spirit exorcist, mystery solving, magic theme.

MC transmigrated into a story into the body of the guy that killed the protagonist, ML.

... more>> ML then came back as a powerful evil spirit to kill MC. ML and MC both hated each other and tried to destroy one another.

Both are OP. I really liked MC's personality. And ML with his arrogant personality matched well with MC.

A slow burn enemy to lover story. Though I wished it was developed a little bit more deeper. It seemed like ML was to pe*verted and MC just fell for him because he was pe*verted lol! But yeah, plot of story was good. A little bit of twist and all the interesting characters made the story great and interesting!!

It's a happy ending. People who should have died, died. 😁 A satisfying ending for MC. It fitted him well as it made him able to be with ML. I loved it! ❤ This would be a great novel to turn into a live action film or anime! Make it BL, of course❤🤗

Translations was copied right from MTL with maybe 7% edited only. Lol. However, it's not bad, still readable. So yeah, thank you Tea Novel!

First of all-

5 stars for the story!!

... more>> Indolent Purple’s translation is great! It was just enough to get me completely hooked! But other than them, with the other groups it pretty much seems to be hardly better than mtl. Had to do a lot of re reading sentences and often times would just put off reading because I didn’t want to deal with it. Genuinely surprised I finished it, which leads me to!!!! The!!! Story!!!

As I said this novel hooked me from the get go! I don’t know if this is just a specific niche I’ve discovered just with this novel but the whole set up seemed entirely unique and refreshing to me. I liked the plot lines and the side characters and most of all, every escalating meeting between our protagonists. It just was a very fun time for me! And definitely a true enemies (underlined) to lovers relationship, for sure read those tags and be prepared for them to be violent as hell towards one another. Speaking of I thought MC and ml’s development was *chef kiss* their growing relationship felt very true to them and handed excellently. Not to mention was sooooo satisfying. One thing I do wish for would be more content with the side characters. At the start of the story it really states them as being a big part of the story and very heavily involved. But at some point it just kinda seemed like they were shelved for awhile and didn’t really get much development. Like they were only there to be useful on the occasion MC needed to ask them to do something for him. Idk felt like they were done a bit dirty after being set up as such lovable friends that are there enough in the beginning for you to get attached to them and love them only for them to not be relevant that often? But yeah other than that being my one story wise vent, I definitely recommend this novel. Especially if indolent purple ever picks it up again but for that we’ll have to see. <<less

Ok so, first of, I REALLY like the story. The concept is interesting, the enemies to lovers is spot on (like, in other novel's I've seen they had it be like, I don't like you -> but lets make out because plot -> now I suddenly like you.) but this one starts off great cuz they HATE each other from the start. MC has a respect for ML as a character fro a story he can see how his brain works, cause they're actually quite similar at the core. However, once he's in the novel, he realizes "crud. To stay alive, I gotta act crazy to be interesting and not have him insta kill me." but then sh*t happens

ML tortures him in a dream and kills him 18 times, which understandably has the MC a bit unhinged after that. Rather than just wanting to stay alive, he now wants ML to pay.

and they become real enemies rather than the veil of the novel separating characters. Now, it's personal. Sadly, the translation after the first few chapters quickly becomes more like mtl. I understand they probably did their best and heck, did better than what I could do, but the story gets pretty confusing. I'm at chapter 136 now and I'm kinda just waiting for it to be done. Not cuz its not interesting, but because I can't keep up. Some character's names have changed, I still dont know if 3 characters are male or female, and some scenes are ruined by an unfitting word in a serious moment. I KNOW I'm missing context for things and its heartbreaking :c I can guess by now where the story is probably gonna go, I just want to see if I'm right or not. I might update my review when done, might not -shrug- if this is tldr, I can try putting up some bullet points of my opinions below.

MC doesn't get stuck in the "this is just a novel" trope that happens often with transmigration stuff. He's here and its real and he knows it.

Enemies to lovers has actual tension between both. ML doesnt kill at the start not cuz he doesnt want to, but cuz he can't for reasons unknown. By the time he can, MC is crasy enough to keep him on his feet and get his attention.

Edit: With the new translation, I can finally understand what's going on and I absolutely love it <3 gotta be onna my GOAT reads. I love how the enemies to lovers trope is played out. Like, they aren't rivals, in a petty disagreement, casual enemies.. No. They're ACTUALLY trying to kill each other for more than half the story. I like how the romance came in too. It felt natural & fit wonderfully. Even together, they're still at eachother's throats XD all in all, 5* Have, can, and will read again!

HOLY! This is a 5 across the board! I don't read bad translations but I just couldn't stop reading this novel lol.

My previous Chinese novels reads have helped in understanding many messy parts of this MTL so the translation wasn't too bad.

about the novel: This has to be one of the best Bls out there! At least from the ones I've read.

... more>> It's a slow burn, I mean who doesn't like a slow burn right? The progression of their relationship was so smooth I didn't even notice it lmao.

I love and I mean I LOVE the friends, especially Teng Bi and Luo Youyi's friendship

This story is really great! But I do wish there’s an proper translation for it. This novel was only (maybe edited mtl) , if it’s properly translate I am sure it’s more fascinating to read.

The MC is really badass and sometimes even cruel to ML. Lol more evil than evil spirit. But even though he is bad, he is kinda good to his new friends. But the contrasts of his personality maybe due to his childhood, but later on his op-ness may feel abit too much, maybe he transmigrated... more>> that his gold finger. ML hmm he is a evil spirit, very pure one. Lol, just he taste MC psychotic ‘ love ‘, he is hook, sink and line. Their background quite tragic hence their personality. But I am glad author includes side story or their friends, which make it more wholesome. But I wish there’s someone can pick this up and translating this better. But anyway it’s a very recommended read. Thank you <<less

This is an amazing story mixed with kinky romance, so enjoyable on all fronts.

The story is addicting - it's a subtle infinite flow horror story with many surprising mini stories that are richly described and unique. With each arc, more of the overall story gets revealed, until you finally see the corruption in the current society. At the same time though, you also fall in love with the world and hope there is really a way to save it.

The romance is definitely not going to be to many people's tastes.... more>> There's a lot of mutual goading and testing. However, I think the fact that both characters can almost equally compete with each other is so refreshing. They're both so crazy that they're perfect for each other. I think such a relationship would be exhausting and borderline toxic in real life, but it's dynamite in this novel. <<less

Anyway, First, don't be scared of the tags in NU. It was all true. But the story is more than just those simple tags.

Our MC is not an Anti-Hero type. But also not the Loving and Caring toward Everyone type either. He also wasn't a Grey person. He has his own Moral and Belief. What he feels toward the World he's in, toward other people, and toward ML, is all based on what he experiences around them.

He is Smart but not Know-it-all type.... more>> He's close to OP but he's NOT OP, and so is ML. His power based on his Determination and the teaching he get and from things he want to learn.

Most of his Characteristics with being Smart, Cunning and Confident, usually he would be the Anti-hero or Indifferent and Apathetic protagonist, but he's NOT!

He LOVE the Friendship he has in this world. The people who become his friends, he cares about them so much. He won't let his friends killed! He wasn't blinded by friendship because the good thing is; all his close friends is also a very good friends and good people!!!

What about the relationship between MC and ML? THIS what make this Novel also Super Exciting and somewhat Funny!

The way MC LIED about his relationship with ML and Everyone Believed it! With MC's knowledge about ML's personality, he knows this Lies would make ML interested in him rather than immediately kill him.

The HATE turned into Excitement - Dislike - more Excitement and then FEELINGS. Where they can't bear living without the other but with lots of Confusion and Denial at the beginning. Not in Angsty way, but in Exciting and even somewhat Funny. Things between them NEVER ANGST!!!

Also, It might be Horror novel, but MC and ML's first time is Comedic!!! LMAO 😆

I got bored, the novel should not have taken 200+ chapters. It's not even the problem with my stamina when reading novels. It's just that the plot did not need that extra 100 chapters. The push and pull between the leads was exciting to read bit the fact that there's still uncertainty about their feelings even after 150 chapters is annoying. Also side characters are indistinguishable from each other did not help that the translation was edited mtl. It just seems excessive and doesn't really immerse the reader in this... more>> novel. For example Tai Sui by priest has about 200 chapters as well but it keeps the reader interested because it has good world and character building and the events that happened can be seperated into arcs that last more than 10 chapters. In this novel every problem gets solved in 5 chapters or less. The main characters don't go through any external hardship which makes it hard for the reader to see their growth. Same thing with ORV (Omniscient Reader Viewpoint) its ard 500 chaps with extras and it keeps the readers engaged and emotionally involved because we experience their hardships and heartbreaks with them. The side characters have their own personalities that aren't 2 dimensional for example in this novel there was a repeat mention of MC friend being super rich and innocent minded which is basically their only character trait. In ORV, MC friend/teammate went through life only following instructions because he thought that was the only thing he was good at but eventually he found someone he fiercely wanted to protect and he started gaining independence with his own thoughts instead of having to be instructed by someone else. The character had tangible morals and goals which were expressed in the novel. In conclusion, this had alot of potential and I can see why there are so many 5 star reviews although I fail to understand why. The idea is great fantastic even its just the execution was dull and deprived of its full potential. <<less

It is really a very pretty good story. I would highly recommend this story to everyone I enjoyed it a lot.

All the mystery cases MC solved They were so enjoyable.

I would not like spoil the plot but I would I highly recommend you guys to read it.

And to someone who said MC is op, plz if he would not have been op he would have been killed by ML as soon.

There were a few elements in the story that I did not like like the ending and the reason why MC transmigrated but whatever aside that I loved the story.

Ok so it would be the best horror after global examination according to me as that of I remember.

Thank you so much translators and author for their hard work.

This is very much the hate > love trope. MC wakes up in a novel he read where the 'uke' was someone the canon fodder he is impersonating, killed. He legit wakes up at a funeral for the 'uke' but pretends to start crying and saying the 'uke' confessed to him. Now everyone believes that the 'uke' was in love with MC. 'Uke' is actually our ML who is an evil spirit with a SPOILER* ghost eating curse on his back. *

Him and the MC go about trying to kill... more>> each other for about 50 chapters, the romance doesn't really hit till chapter 60 and the ML doesn't realize he's in love till ~120 chapters into this. And EVEN THEN ITS STILL LIKE "How can I make MC suffer but still let him know I love him." I'm legit losing touch with these two because this is such a sharp relationship. No soft points. All daggers. I'm on chapter ~132.... and it's getting kind of old having them try to make each other suffer. Also MC finds out that ML loves him and proceeds to mock him about it ANY CHANCE HE GETS. It makes sense, I would do the same thing too if someone killed me 18 times in my dreams.

If you liked Thriller Trainee, I'd recommend this. <<less

i am going to give 5stars, however, after went through the part with "State Control", what the hell is that!! Whole story toppled with just that scenario. State is object. A handful group of people so call LEADERS who is manipulating entire population named themselves "State". Apart from that rubbish, whole story is worth to read.

This novel really pique my interest cause honestly I could not imagine the relationship of the two main characters, the MC and ML. Every chapter of this novel made me want to more just to solve my curiosity. I also like the MC, Jiang Lou, for he is not the usual shou of other bl novels, because he could stand with his own strength and he's smart. I also like the change of our MC from thinking of using other people as his tool for protection to treating them as... more>> real friends and even willing to die for his friends. For the ml, he's a crazy guy and but even crazier for the MC, lol. His character also caught my interest because he's not the usual ML that immediately fell in love with the MC for the sole reason that the MC suddenly changed. I actually stopped reading the novel at chapter 170+ something not because it's boring but because I don't want to finish it immediately.

To be honest, I did not think that I would like this novel because of its horror tag, however, this novel really captured my interest slowly. I actually read this novel before until chapter 6 but then I stopped cause I could not feel the spark when reading it, but then when I continued to read it, things got more interesting that will make you want to read more. So if you are hesitant to read it, THIS IS YOUR SIGN. <<less

Honestly, I read this thinking it would be a cute story. Even after it was shown that it wasn’t, I tried to enjoy their story and the plot. However, I don’t understand how they became attracted to one another. I feel stifled by the toxic “I want to kill you” feeling between the love interest and the protagonist. Seems like they are on a heavier side of love. Near chapter 200, I started losing interest due to their constant “let’s watch each other bleed like roses” vibe.

I don’t like the... more>> main couple however the plot is still interesting. The little stories of mysteries are exhilarating and it’s always fun to figure out as you read.

Originally, I wanted to give it a 3 but I realized that there are many things that make this novel amazing. The character designs and the development, I was all up for that. The hidden plots that held important keys to figuring out the main culprit and complications!

Some enjoy this, some don’t and I think it’s fine! It’s up to whoever reads this and be able to determine whether it suits their preferable read. So, I wish you don’t take my opinion to heart but use it as reference when you choose whether or not to read this. Answer still lies in your preference! (Peace out) <<less
